choices the individuals make in each group. As the role of the narrator and main character, Ponyboy explains to readers how different factors,

Introduction
The research reviews expectancy violation theory and its significance in understanding interpersonal communication. The theory highlights the
unexpected behavior of human being while interacting (Dainton, 2011). This theory is based on the reduction uncertainty where ambiguity on
behaviors of others is reduced through interaction. Expectancy violations theory offers some prospect to compare the personality of traditional
empiricism with humanism. The theory was developed from the Nonverbal expectancy violation model of Burgoon who describes the nature of
response of human beings to the theory (Dainton, 2011). People anticipate and foresee a particular behavior while interacting and the violation to these
expectations can be perceived positively or negatively. This is normally characterized by the relationship between the people who describe the

It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues and the economy. What is often overlooked is how
much stress and anxiety teens experience. It is common knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even begin to
scratch the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure from the whole of society to conform and to be popular or in
style. Teens are also expected to plan for, and have their future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a family, or even both.
All of these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental issues including low self–esteem, self–harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The
worst part about teen stress is that teens do not know how to handle it. They cannot cope with their changing responsibilities and this leads to role
conflict and their inability to react to situations properly. The best thing a teen can do is find a way to control, regulate, and reduce the stress in their
lives. In comparison, teens today experience higher levels of stress from academics and an abundance of extra–curricular activities which is only made

Analysis Of Amy 's ' The Cool Girl '
From childhood, Amy felt the pressures and demands to be the perfect female. Her parents expected her to be the better version of herself of which
they created in their Amazing Amy children's stories. Constantly, she felt as if she couldn't live up to her fictional self. Continuing into adulthood, she
pretended to be a certain type of women so that her husband would love her: the cool girl, the kind of women who is attractive to men because she
embodies certain qualities that trigger the attraction in a man. Interestingly enough, Nick didn't want the "traditional" or "conventional" bride that sat
home awaiting her husband's return. Instead, he wanted a new kind of woman: a woman who didn 't care too much, who gracefully bowed down as

The Information Technology department at my job is a group I am part of and also a group that has some history. Our longest standing member has
served the company for nearly ten years and could probably describe the changes that have occurred much better than me. From my perspective,
this group has not changed much since I became member. Much of the standards and principles shared by each member have been in place well
before I started. Norms seem to predominantly represent the flow of communication and behavior within this group. The course text describes norms
as "informal rules" or "unstated expectations" (Galanes & Adams, 2013, p. 162). Within this department, there are various unspoken rules that are
respected by each member of the group. Some norms are influenced by common sense. For example, if there is a misunderstanding about a request
that was made or an unintended mistake. Nobody is yelled at or punished it in an embarrassing or demeaning way. Honestly is also expected from
each member of the group. In fact, there is a weekly team meeting where each member is encouraged to discuss any issues they are having. It is a
meeting where the norm is that whatever is spoken in the room, stays in the room. The norms within this group were reinforced by the conformity
displayed by each member. When I entered the group, I noticed that everyone followed these norms without issue. They weren't unreasonable norms
