Essay on The Mexican National Flag and Crest
The Mexican National Flag and Crest
Domestic violence involves the systematic use of force, threats and intimidation by one partner
upon another in order for the dominating partner to have control over the victim. In general, women
who are abused physically are often isolated. Their partners tend to control their lives to a great
extent as well as verbally degrade them. Even though the Latina women are particularly vulnerable
to domestic violence because of their culture, it does not mean that this situation does not exist in
other societies. Domestic violence happens in all races, religions and social statuses. It could appear
in any family and in order to prevent it, everyone in the society must have knowledge of the
problem, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another aspect that has a huge influence in women's decisions and does not let them feel free to call
the police, is their families' opinion. The divorce is not really allowed; it is still a taboo in Latin's
families. They think that if you marry someone, this marriage must last forever. Even though the
man hits you, hits your kids, or uses drugs, your responsibility as a wife is to be with him, after all
"he is your husband and there is nothing you can do to change that." The language barrier is also an
obstacle for most of the women that suffer domestic violence in the United States. Most of Latina
women do not speak English and when they decide to call the police for help, they can not explain
what is going on. Therefore, the police are not able to do anything to the husband because they do
not really know what the problem is. Also, the man usually threatens the wife with things such as to
call immigration, come after her when he gets out of prison and kill her, or stop the legalization
papers for her and their children. In addition, Latina women grow up with the thought that a women
is nothing without a man; for this reason, they are afraid to be by themselves. The women do not
feel able to support their family without a man besides them. In the Latin culture, the man has
exclusive control over all money and household financial matters, the woman is not allowed in the
decision–making process at home. Because of this, women do

Filippo 's Burgonet ( 1543 )
Filippo Negroli's Burgonet (1543) is a highly detailed decorative helmet fashioned out of a single
plate of steel. Patinated to have the appearance of bronze, ancient Roman–inspired carvings adorn
the surface. The piece is 9.5 inches in height, 7.3 inches in width, and weighs 4 lb. 2 oz. Originally
created in Milan, it now resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The helmet
exists on its own – there is no accompanying armor or shield. This makes sense as the helmet exists
for purely aesthetic reasons. A burgonet is a term for a visored helmet. These were helmets that were
largely open–faced, with a crest running from back to front. The burgonet became commonplace
during the Renaissance. Negroli's Burgonet clearly takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Since this burgonet is created out of one sheet of steel, it allows the entire helmet to have a unified,
highly polished look. This further contributes to the elegant and simple shape of the overall helmet.
It is, of course, impossible to consider this helmet without discussing the detailed surface. All the
other details – the simple, curved shape, the single, shiny sheet of steel, the riff on the classic
burgonet – are in service of the carefully constructed surface design. Ancient Roman creatures and
myths commingle to create a harmonious design which flows together with the overall shape. At the
center of it all is a lounging siren, forming the crest. Her body travels the entire helmet, reaching
down to the visor, where it is revealed that she is holding a severed head. Considering that this head
has hair made of snakes (and the fact that it is severed at all) suggests this to be the head of Medusa.
Evil and transfixing, it stares out at the viewer from the front. Moving around the side, cherubs,
scrolls, flowers, and decorative lines all swirl together, the curving shapes matching the curves of
the steel. The left and right sides are perfectly mirrored to each other. This is seen most clearly when
turning to the back of the helmet– the siren's scaly tail reaches down toward the base. It branches off
on either side, immediately connecting to the swirling mass of objects on either side (completely
identical). This creates a ringing effect, starting

Summary: John Muir And The Pacific Crest Trail
Our backing group had for some time hiked all over the Sierra's, and because our leader Mario
Bonura made it easy on us, the trips were always circular. That is we ended up where we started
from. So we talked about a backpacking trip which combined other trips but began and ended up
elsewhere. With this in mind we devised this trip which began in Toulumne Meadows and finished
up in Mammoth Lakes, basically using the John Muir/The Pacific Crest Trail with some cross
country thrown in for good measure. Thus we put our leader to work to devise this trip which
included a trail map, trail summary, scenic history, and the appropriate permits. Of course all the
photographs were also taken by Mario. We traveled up the 395 highway from Los Angeles to the
eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park. We parked our cars at the Toulumne Meadows
backpack campsite and retreated with two cars back to Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort parking lot and
left one of our cars there to act as a shuttle back to our cars in Yosemite, at the end of our backpack
trip. The whole gang was there, Mario, Tim, Gale, Andreae, Spencer, Kevin, ... Show more content

Spencer walked over to another campsite and talked to the campers. For whatever reason, he came
back with an air mattress twice the size as the ones we were using. We had heard from other hikers
of the presence of bears. So we set a bear watch of two hours each, all night long. As would usually
happen one of the watchers would hang around and talk way into the relieving watchers time.
Which was always a welcome relief to the one awakened. There is nothing better than talking to a
friend under the spectacular and unobstructed view of all the stars in the heavens around a warm
campfire. This solitude however, was continually interrupted by Spencer, for every time he rolled
over on his new mattress it went

Cheryl's Wild: Hiking The Pacific Crest Trail
There are many characters in the book, Wild, but Cheryl is the main character of the book. In this
book she has blonde, short hair and is twenty–two. What motivates her is the death of her mother.
Her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, they found out and it was too late to get her treatment.
This took a huge toll on Cheryl's life and her brother, Leif. Also, Cheryl and her husband, Paul, get a
divorce because of her unfaithfulness. This also is another reason that motivates her to hike the
Pacific Crest Trail. She knows that it is important for her to be alone and find herself. She wanted to
hike the trail to become the woman her mom had always believed she was. Once her mother died,
she lost herself and she was having difficulty dealing

Personal Narrative: Calvin Crest
In a small town of Oakhurst CA, there is a place that holds a place in my heart. An outdoor camp
school, filed with 300 year old redwood trees and Native American history. But my favorite part
about Calvin Crest is that while we learn about nature; we also learn about God and all the
wonderful things he has put on his earth just for us. Even though it's only a few miles from home, it
feels like a different world. The first time I went to Calvin Crest was in 2012, with my school;
Fresno Christian. We had to get to the school by 6 a.m. and believe me there was no one ready to be
there. Once everyone got there we were assigned to different cars and sent on our way! It was about
a 45 minute drive from Fresno to Calvin Crest. Most of us got more sleep in the car, while others
had Starbucks and sang songs on the radio. When we arrived we unloaded all of the luggage and
were sent to our cabins, all my good friends were in mine so I didn't have a problem. Then ... Show

We learned many interesting facts about the Native Americans and how they survived out in the
wild for hundreds of years. We also learned how to survive in the wilderness if we ever got lost;
using nature and whatever we had on us as tools to keep us alive. By the end of the week, a lot of us
didn't want to go home. We had become a family, with members that you don't like and annoy you
but you still love them anyway. By that time my ankle was pretty swollen and painful but I didn't
fuss about it. The last night was crazy hair night, and we had so much gel and color in our hair we
could run a circus. Since my hair was short the girls in my cabin Mo hawked it. It was a lot of fun
and many laughs were shared as memories filled the room. Once we were home, it wasn't the same.
I was lonely; I missed all the people I thought were annoying and the people who were good friends.
The leaders I missed a lot, they were so strong and always ready to help

Demands And Opportunities Of The Crest And Company
Opportunities
1. Introduction: Although crest is a very strong brand and is extremely profitable, there is always
room of improvement. Innovation is constant and it is important to continually prove, no matter how
successful a company or brand is currently. Crest clearly understand this, evidence by multiple new
brands and product line extensions, but crest still could improve in a few different areas. Crest could
potentially benefit from improvements in social media products available to the elderly market, and

Toothpaste Wars: Colgate versus Crest Essay
Colgate versus Crest is one of the marketing industries most famous battles. While Colgate has
enjoyed the lead around the world with sales in over 170 countries and over 2 billion dollars, the
United States has been their fiercest battle ground and one that Procter and Gamble's Crest
dominated for thirty years as America's favorite toothpaste. That came to an end when Colgate Total
was launched in 1998, Colgate took the lead in the United States. Procter and Gamble to compete
began expanding their family brand into other oral health products, which included whitening,
toothbrushes, mouthwashes and floss. Finally in 2007 Crest once again regained its top ranked
position. (adbrands.net, 2013) We will begin to delve deeper into ... Show more content on

It featured the artwork of Norman Rockwell and carried the theme, "Look, mom – no cavities."
(Kramer, 2007) What really reinforced their brand equity was in 1960, when the American Dental
Association gave them a third party validation. This gave way to Crest becoming the leader in
toothpaste in the United States. For over 50 years Crest states that they were the leader in dental
health, providing healthy and beautiful smiles across the country. (Crest Corporate, n.d.) Colgate on
the other hand began in New York in 1806 by its namesake William Colgate as a soap company.
Since that time numerous generations have formed what the company is today. In 1873, Colgate
introduced toothpaste in a jar and followed in 1896 with the collapsible tube. By 1906, when
Colgate celebrated its 100th birthday they had over 800 products on the market. (Colgate Corporate,
n.d.) At this time their tagline for toothpaste was "We cannot improve the paste, so improved the
tube." In 1911, Colgate began its relationship marketing by distributing over 2 million tooth brushes
and tubes of toothpaste to school children along with nurses to demonstrate how to brush your teeth.
Then in the 1920's they began to open operations in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa to
expand to the world markets. It was not until 1968 that Colgate added fluoride to their toothpaste.
Then in 1983 Colgate added to their family brand, a

John Kinsella: the Crest
Commentary: The Crest
By Amy L
Humankind's threat to the earth and the natural world has been a common theme of writing since the
industrial revolution and underpins The Crest. Kinsella's forboding poem presents a powerful
analogy with man's pastoral development and it's intrusion into the natural world.
Kinsella's message is made clearly and strongly in the first few lines; "that at high speed this rise
moving away from town can so much epitomise the age". Here the truck represents the current age
of mankind, moving away from the safety and security of town, traveling too fast, going up the rise
and approaching the crest of the hill over which unknown danger waits. Like the truck, humankind
is overloaded and travelling too fast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The repetition of 'or' and the rhyming of 'surprise' and 'eyes' adds spotlights the implied causes and
their significance which is seen later on, causing the tipping point. This emphasises that the way in
which we are damaging the natural world can so suddenly lead to disaster.
There are, however, places where Kinsella tightens his focus on how disaster is lived out in personal
ways, by highlighting what a calamity can do to people, families. This technique is used to evoke
affective responses in the reader – to make a connection. The crest is described to be an "undoer of
families", illustrating the effects of the accidents it can cause on them and which readers can relate
to in apersonal way. There is also a type of contrast used by saying how our uncritical enjoyment of
the country views we have from the road can be ended, over the crest. The rural landscape and
countryside is beautiful with its natural features; hills rolling out into the distance. What lies on the
other side of the crest is not beautiful at all.
The severity of man's intrusion and unnatural development is global. It occurs across the same
different continents from which the trucks come. A vaccum flask is described as "forcing together
iconic auto–manufactuerers of different continents", suggesting on a literary level that a flask, with
the need to be refilled at a roadhouse

Difference Between Stone Crest
Differences between Stone crest then and Stone crest now Back in Middle school and more
prominently High school where I'm from there was one mall that stood out and that was Stone crest
Mall. It may haven't been Lenox or Perimeter but it was still a genuine place to shop and have fun.
Stone crest is a good mall, I say this as a person that has been there plenty of times. When I was in
Middle school it was even more fun because it seemed like such an immense place full of
excitement. Maybe that was just my childish imagination. I think of Stone crest as a specialty mall
because if you have one thing in mind that you want to go get then Stone crest probably has it. You

you can also enjoy a fair that they host every spring. Around Stone crest there's an IHOP, different
hotels, an AMC Theaters, and a lot of restaurants, all stuff that teenagers will love so of course
Stone crest was the spot. You can go to the mall then the movies, or vice versa, you can buy a room
at the Holiday Inn then go to the movies, vice versa or you could even just go for some IHOP and
leave. I and my friends went especially on "Free Pancake day". I went to the most recent "Free
Pancake day" That happened March 8th. The only thing about Stone crest I didn't like was the
curfew they had. If you were under the age of 18 and you were at the mall at 8pm then security
would make you leave. One time I was with my friends and we were just walking around and then
we got approached by an officer he then asked us if we had IDs we replied "No" so we had to leave,
but that didn't change my opinion on the mall whatsoever plus I'm 18 now so I can stay if I want . I
have some fond memories at Stone crest one being when it was my friend girlfriends birthday we
were there just doing stupid stuff for a good amount of time. And it was always a peaceful
experience but things don't really last

Analysis Of The Sunning God By Caleb Chavez
The Sunning God
By: Caleb Chavez
It was a somewhat normal day as it started the constant birds chirping, the smell of pie that the
Neighbors cooked, and the taste of morning breakfast. My younger brother Bon and I were off the
school that morning. We don't go to a normal school due to the war. We went to a knight school
where they taught us how to use weapons. But what we didn't know is that day would be the worst
day of our lives. While we were gone our mother had been cleaning up the house, the house was
hollow wood with no door and one window. It smelled like a farm and looked like a barn.
It was still home, while our mother was cooking. A man dressed in dark clothes from foot to hat.

small and run down, perfect for sleeping. It wasn't until midnight when I heard screams outside my
window. I got up really fast to find the village under attack. The war was moving fast and we have
to move faster. I ran towards the door, and looked at my sword. When I started to reach for I stopped
and grabbed my scythe. When I reached outside there was three men surrounding some women. I
yelled to leave her alone and when they turned around they laughed due to the scythe. I yelled again
then one man charged at me with a sword slicing through the wind.
I ducked as quickly as I could and turned around and swung my scythe piercing one the man. I
wanted to say not so funny is it, but before I could the next two came at me. Both had long axes,
which is also two handed. They were going to swing from both sides and pierce me, which honestly
is a very risky move. Due to ducking, if I would duck they would hit each other. So I decided to pull

Other evidently bright features of the advertisement include the scene in a restroom, which has a
white backdrop, and the scene in which she is walking down a hall as it includes camera flashes.
The incorporation of shininess into the background of the ad coincides with Laurie Hernandez's
sparkling teeth; her visibly white teeth speak to the capabilities of the brand. This brightly colored
imagery along with the previously mentioned aspects of the ad lead the viewer to equate Crest with
brightness and shininess, two common characteristics that consumers look for in a toothpaste.
Another area of comparison between the three ads are their varying movements. In the Oral–B
advertisement, viewers are first drawn to the image of a woman who is presumably a dentist. The
image is most drawing because of its location in the optical center; moreover, it is the focal point of
the ad. Next, the motion of the advertisement guides the viewer to the largest text, located at the top.
The top text is larger in font size and easier to read, drawing the audience in more so than the small
text which is more difficult to see from a distance. This ad then directs the eye to the toothpaste box
that the woman is holding and finally to the bottom text. The area of the bottom text also

The Control Cranial Neural Crest Cells
The focal adhesions in the control cranial neural crest cells are clearly visible in (Fig 4A and C). The
actin filaments are also distinguishable, whereas in the cells treated with ethanol, there is an
irregular distribution of the microfilaments. The cells in the cultures exposed to ethanol are small
yet have an increased number in cells compared to the control cranial neural crest cells (Fig 4A).
There is a prominent disarray and overlap, which suggests an alteration in the orientation in the
actin cytoskeleton of the alcohol–treated cells (Oyedele and Kramer, 2013). There is evidence that
suggests that this migration disruption leads to apoptosis (Rovasio and Battatio, 2002). When
exposed to chronic levels of ethanol, there is reduction in cell size and surface area (Rovasio and
Battatio, 2002). There might be a role of apoptotic mechanism involved to rid of any cells that have
not undergone migration successfully resulting in a decreased surface area due to loss of cells.
Exposure to alcohol leads to a disruption in the actin cytoskeleton of the neural crest cells, thereby
thickening and fragmenting the cell–to–cell connections eliciting collapse of neural crest cells. Even
after 24hrs have subsided and alcohol has been removed there is still cytoskeletal remodeling
present demonstrating that the there might be a reorganization of cell signaling occurring leading to
this cause (Rovasio and Battatio, 2002). Therefore, there is possibility of existence of multiple

Neural Crest Cells Essay
Neural crest cells are transient vertebral cell types, which form at the boundary between the neural
plate and surface ectoderm. They are multipotent and able to migrate and differentiate into
numerous derivatives resulting in them being referred to as the 'fourth germ layer'. It is thought that
the evolution of vertebrates is due to large–scale genome duplications which occurred early in the
vertebrate lineage. Research suggests that there were two rounds of genome duplication during early
vertebrate evolution. However, there is an alternative research model which suggests that in stem
vertebrates there was a single round of duplication, followed by lineage–specific segmental
duplications in cyclostomes and jawed vertebrates. Despite ... Show more content on

There is also evidence to suggest that the fate of neural crest cells depends upon their migratory path
in the trunk which is dictated by somites. Cells which migrate early move ventrally and pass
through the anterior half sclerotome, form the sensory ganglia. Cells which are more dorsal within
the anterior sclerotome form the sensory neurons and glia of the dorsal root ganglia, partly due to
signals which come from the neural tube. Alternatively, the neural crest cells which migrate late
travel laterally between the somite and the ectoderm, forming melanocytes in amniotes. It is thought
that the increased complexity in vertebrate neuroanatomy may stem from interactions between
neural crest cells and other cell types. An example of this is the essential role of neural crest cells in
the expansion of the head and formation of a 'true neck'. Neural crest cells are thought to be crucial
in multiple stages of cranial mesoderm development and secrete signals which depress myogenesis,
consequently allowing the formation of cranial myofibres. Research has suggested that these distinct
myogenic regulatory sub–networks arose in early vertebrates. The formation of a 'true neck' is a
result of the pectoral girdle losing its attachment to the skull, and allowed tetrapods to colonise land
as they could now move their head independent of limbs. Despite

learned how to use an axe, to build a shelter, build a campfire, and to trap and catch food. The
scouting program produced the mindset of the boy scout as "the manly man" and called it
woodcraft. The best example of woodcraft would have to be Joseph Knowles, he "captured national
attention when he walked buck naked into the Maine woods". He explained, "there was too much
artificial life at the present day in the cities." For the next two months, he made an experiment of
himself, trying to live off of the land. When Knowles reemerged, he strutted out of the woods strong
and healthy, clad in self–made clothes, and claimed to be no less than the model American man."
This philosophy has since been frowned upon by the "new" backpacker

"How much does your life weigh? Imagine for a second that you're carrying a backpack. I want you
to feel the straps on your shoulders. Feel 'em? Now I want you to pack it with all the stuff that you

That ruck represents Strayed's demons, the shitty life that she was trying to escape. The weight

It was a quest for truth as Foster might say. It falls into that idea of a self–help book that was
mentioned in class. The book is an example of the deconstruction of social stratification. This is not
a Kerouac or Ginsburg story attempting to discover themselves, it is a woman with modern issues
finder her inner self. "I'm a free spirit who never had the balls to be free." [3] It all leads back to
Burke's definition of man. Strayed uses the symbol(monster), negates herself, becomes one with
nature(PCT), is a woman(Hierarchy), and rotten with perfection (past failures). There are still huge
complex issues that need to be dealt with. But the moral of self–help is discovering and confronting
the issues affronted. "I didn't feel sad or happy. I didn't feel proud or ashamed. I only felt that in
spite of all the things I'd done wrong, in getting myself here, I'd done right." [3] People are
monsters, but there is so much to accomplish in life. Strayed found a small bit of hope on her
journey, she made a change for herself. "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of
light, but by making the darkness conscious."

Staring up at the towering, glacier–covered mountain range, I felt impossibly small. My overflowing
backpack dug into my shoulders and I bounced on my toes, eager to start hiking before the sun rose
too far in the summer sky. Supplied with nothing but what we carried on our backs and in our
minds, my family and I were about to backpack into the Alaskan wilderness for a week.
As we started along the trail, I worried about forgotten items and my decision to only bring one
extra pair of socks. However, after a while, I became aware of a pair of birds chattering above me
and the soft murmur of water trickling down a stream bed. After an hour of walking, the trail starts
winding back on itself in a series of switchbacks. The chatter between my family members slows
down, as we soon struggled to breathe from exhaustion. Sometimes I was hunched over so far from
my load that I would stare at my rubber–toed boots and forget to look up at the majestic trees
surrounding me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I remember previous backpacking trips, but most were only for a few days. These short trips were
never enough and I always wished I could stay longer in this paradise as the trail seems to finish
almost immediately after starting. This past summer, I learned about the Pacific Crest Trail, and I
realized that there was a way to more fully connect with nature. The five month, 2,700 mile
backpacking trail runs from the arid Mexican border in California to the mountainous Canadian
border in Washington. Instantly, I knew that I would someday undertake this challenge. The trail
tests both physical and emotional strength so much that only a fraction of aspiring long–distance
hikers finish. I was not deterred from my goal, and the thought of the immersive challenge excited
me. Taking this trip solo would finally allow me to experience self–reliance, something only
realized when alone in the wild for days on

Iliac Crest Avulsion Research Paper
An iliac crest avulsion fracture is the pelvic fracture of one's anterosuperior, anteroinferior, andiliac,
ischial tuberosity, and iliac crest. It is most common in younger athletes involved in soccer, track, or
other running based sports. It is most likely caused by a strain of the sartorius or the tensor of the
fascia lata. The fascia lata is the deep fascia of the thigh. It contains the thigh muscles and controls
the outer limit of the fascial muscles of thigh. The muscles are separated by intermuscular septa,
which are the fibrous connective–tissue layers that partition muscle groups in the arms and legs. The

was physically abused as well throughout her marriage and during the children's upbringing. During
John Wayne Gacy's childhood education, he suffered further alienation due to a congenital heart
condition that resulted in further feelings of contempt from his father. Furthermore, Gacy eventually

A police search of Gacy's house in Des Plaines, Illinois, on December 21, exposed evidence of his
involvement in numerous abominable acts, including murder. John Wayne Gacy, it would later be
determined, had murdered thirty–three boys and young males, the majority of whom had been
buried under his dwelling and garage, while around four to five other victims would be recovered
from the nearby Des Plaines River. The victims were lured to Gacy's dwelling with the promise of
construction work, and then captured, sexually assaulted, and then eventually strangled to death
with rope. Furthermore, John Wayne Gacy sometimes dressed as his alter ego "Pogo the Clown",
when he murdered.
After a short jury deliberation, John Wayne Gacy was ultimately found guilty of committing thirty–
three murders and became known as one of the most vicious serial killers in U.S. history. Gacy was
sentenced to serve twenty–one natural life sentences and serve twelve death sentences. For almost a
decade and a half, Gacy was imprisoned at the Menard Correctional Center where he appealed the
sentence and offered contradictory statements on the murders in interviews. Although Gacy had
confessed, later he had vehemently denied being guilty of the charges. John Wayne Gacy ultimately

They Call Him Mr. Gacy Essay
There are numerous portraits, perspectives, and analyses of the life and deeds of American serial
killer John Wayne Gacy, who is thought to have sexually assaulted and murdered 32 boys between
1976 and his arrest in December 1978 (Cahill, 1978; Gacy, 1989). This profile of Gacy compiles a
birth–to–death chronology of events and activities that may lend insight to the personality of a
habitual liar, model citizen, and serial murderer.

Kentucky Fried Chicken. Shortly after his wedding John?s father–in–law offered him a job. John
and his new wife then moved to Iowa. John was a tireless worker, but maintained an active
community involvement through the Jaycees.
During this period, John and his wife invited employees to their home for drinks and television.
Hidden in the game room were homosexual videos, alcohol, and marijuana. One particular visit to
their home, John approached employee Westphal to solicit a blowjob. Although Westphal declined

the loss of his job, Westphal fulfilled John?s desires. After this incident rumors of John?s sexual

John?s interests in young boys increased and in the spring of 1968 he was indicted by a grand jury

How To Write A Visual Analysis Of Kid's Crest Toothpaste
There are great advertisements that influence many magazine readers around the world. In the
November 2011 published magazine of "Yum for Kids", Crest placed an advertisement for their
product, Kid's Crest (Toothpaste), which was created to appeal to kids and parents. That ad's
effectiveness relies on irony, simplicity, and specific language choice to appeal to the kids and
parents as well as build the brand's credibility and the consumer's trust in the product. The
magazine, "Yum for Kids," appeals to wide variety of audiences, with articles and contents mostly
pertaining to kindergartens, elementary students, and parents. With delicious, healthy, fun food and
new recipes, it is clear that this magazine is mostly read by parents and kids, who are interested in
family dinners, food shopping lists, and cooker recipes. There are many other advertisements in this

Is Crest Toothpaste Truly Complete? Essay
Appeal is the key to the car of spending. Advertisers know, to be successful, they must be able to
quickly grab an audience's attention and promptly make their point to keep it. A good advertisement
must also contain all three of Aristotle's appeals; pathos, ethos and logos, in order to convey a
message to the masses. The visual appeal that is given from the Crest Complete with Scope ad is a
prime example of how the Procter and Gamble (P&G) Company market their products to a
generation that in fast–paced and easily distractible. The makers of Crest, P&G, deliver the first
appeal, pathos, through their visual art and a catch phrase. The picture is meant to grab the attention

P&G, as a whole, also carries a noticeable title, the number thirteen spot on the List of America's
Most Reputable Companies. P&G use a couple different advertising techniques to help them gain
the trust of the consumers. One of these ways is through subliminal advertising, in which they
sponsor the Winter Olympics. P&G, just this week, was helping to initiate one of this year's new
Olympic games, the Snowboard Slope Style competition, by having the company logo plastered on
one of the jump ramps. Another technique that Crest specifically uses is product association. Using
famous singer Shakira, advertisers build a mental connection between music and their product in
hopes that this will help consumers buy Crest. The last appeal that an advertiser will attempt to
make is that of logos, or the logical appeal. Advertisers know that price is not the true appeal to all
buyers and excluding it from their ad not only allows merchants to adjust the price by market but
also allows the readers to do more research into the best product choice. In this ad, the visual aid
points the reader to a small clock. This clock seems meaningless and out of place until the reader
checks the statement that Crest lasts five times longer. However, claims of longer lasting fresh
breath may not make a believer out of all consumers. For this reason, Crest shouts out, on their web
site, that all their products are

Crest Toothpaste Essay
The Crest brand of toothpaste has a longstanding history of over 50 years. Being the first to develop
fluoride effective in preventing cavities and tooth decay, it served as a major scientific breakthrough
and has been a trusted product throughout the years. Today, it continues to make advancements
towards dental hygiene, and has also developed several other products to assist in complete oral
care.
The Crest product line includes toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, whitening products, and
mouthwash. Each of these products has several variations, creating a program of oral care for
everyone.
In developing a marketing plan, there are several questions that Proctor and Gamble must ask
themselves in order to get their product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, with the knowledge that as people travel they may forget to pack their dental hygiene
products, they may also make it available in hotel gift shops across the world.
Deciding a price for the product is a very important step. If the price is too high, consumers may opt
for the less expensive alternative, even though Crest has such a strong, longstanding tradition.
Setting the price too low may make consumers wonder why the leader in oral care is selling their
products lower than others, and may opt for another option due to a discombobulating combination
of a trusted product and a lower than average price. Therefore, a price slightly above average would
be the best option, as it would relay to consumers that it is a leader in the industry that should be
strongly considered, and the difference in price would reflect added value. Finally, as oral care is an
inelastic product, as the economy changes the price may fluctuate and the demand should not be
affected.
Lastly, Proctor and Gamble must decide how to promote the product. As they are credited for the
scientific breakthrough of the effects of fluoride on cavity and tooth decay prevention, P&G should
certainly make this known. This will create a general respect for the product, and a strong sense of
trust. Visual advertisements are a strong force that should be considered. Television commercials

Cheryl Strayed's Wild: The Pacific Crest Trail
Walking and hiking have been around as long as man has been around. Walking was a means of
survival as well as a relaxing because man had to hunt for food which meant he had to search for it.
Walking has also been a way to relax and clear your mind and meditate for generations. If you think
about it, the first people to organize this activity were probably cavemen. However, if you are
talking about the people who first climbed a mountain, then the first people to climb Everest were
Norgay and Hilary in 1953.
Walking is about building endurance for longer trips and reaching a new destination. One of the

Devils : National Monument Is Preserved And Protected By...
Devils Postpile National Monument is in Madera County, Mammoth Lakes, California on Western
side of the Sierra Nevada. In 1911 Devils Postpile National Monument was preserved and protected
by the National Parks Services because of the two main geologic features present there that draw
attention to this area. The Formation of the Columnar Basalt (Devils Postpile), which named the
monument and the other feature being Rainbow Falls. Although Devils Postpile National Monument
is relatively small, the 798 acres entices nearly thousands of visitors every year (Arnett et al. 367–
368). This land is home to naturally occurring beauty, great hiking trails, diverse habitats, numerous
geologic features and much more which is why Devils Postpile should be upgraded to National Park
Status.
The history behind Devils Postpile started with the Native American Indians about 7,500 years ago
who were living on the Sierra Nevada's. The Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River was their main
trade and was using the location for hunting. The forming of the geologic features go way back to
starting with the beginning of North America millions of years ago. The land that is now known as
Eastern California, was covered by a shallow sea. North America was slowly being pushed
westward and oceanic crust was being pushed onto the side and being pulled underneath the
continent. After continuous repetition, this accretionary wedge formed. This is when some of the

Constellation Monologue
The world is a terrible, unfair, biased place run by the Stars. Constellations have taken over every
aspect of people's lives. Anyone could tell who was in favor of the Stars and who wasn't. The most
loved by the Stars are granted health, beauty, an abundance of riches, and constant protection. The
despised have the worst "luck" with their boils, warts, disease, and hunger. Luckily, my best friends
and I are somewhere in the upper middle class. We aren't much to look at, but our health is in
relatively good terms, and we have enough money to get by.
There are four of us total, each with our own skills. These skills have allowed us to be able to
construct a plan, one that could get us all killed if we were caught. Because of our talk of how things
would be if the Stars had no power, Xavior, Taniesha, Jairus, and I were ostracized by not only our
community, but our families as well. They wanted no connection to "the Star–haters, who would
undoubtedly get them all killed with their talk of a revolution." It was no matter. We wanted an end

we would need is a new Constellation. This Constellation would keep the other Stars at bay in ...

should stop. Views from the rather exposed section are nearly as panoramic as from the summit. A
stroll around the lakes is possible, too. Try your luck catching a trout or two for your supper. How
about taking a swim? Of course, there's always relaxing in camp with a good book or catching 40
winks. In my view, Highland Lakes' environs are a fine place to introduce kids to wilderness
activities, especially the short hike to Asa Lake. Here is how to get there. The signed Highland
Lakes junction (8N01) is one mile west of Ebbetts Pass on Highway 4. The forest route is not
recommended for trailers and big rigs. Follow the road for about

Argumentative Essay: The Pacific Crest Trail
I missed the cut off date. Along the US–Mexico border, migrants and thru–hikers walk side–by–side
but worlds apart. The Pacific Crest Trail attracts two types of people long–distance hikers about to
start the journey of a lifetime and northbound migrants seeking better lives in the US. In spring,
their paths converge near wooden columns marking the start of the 2,060 –mile journey that
traverses the spine of the Sierra Mountains to the Canadian border. Both the thru–hikers and the
migrants share a common bond and that's to cross the southernmost section of the PCT safely, while
carrying the weight of expectations on their shoulders. For the former, the upcoming weeks and
months on the PCT will challenge them both physically and emotionally. And for the latter, the
landscape is the last barrier separating them from the promise of a ... Show more content on

In the wild and uninhabited sections, hikers find discarded clothes and crushed water bottles, telltale
signs of activity at the heart of the border debate. While on the trail, thru–hikers often get the sense
that people are either not too far ahead or not too far behind them, which is a valid assumption to
make. Since, during the months of April and May up to 50 thru–hikers will embark on the PCT per
day. Regardless of how thru–hikers feel about the immigration debate or the migrants, conditions on
the trail and environs are inescapable for both groups. As the days become longer, so do the daytime
temperatures, which can soar into the mid–90s by midday in May. Hikers are encouraged to drink
up to one gallon of water per day, and as much as they can prior to hitting the trail each morning. I
intend to accompany Border Patrol Agents to the terminus of the PCT to see what they see on a
regular basis. Their strategy is to use the landscape and the heat to their advantage. As a result,
migrants often die in in horrific ways in the backcountry. The anthropologist Jason de Leon,

Essay On The Mexican National Flag And Crest

  • 1. Essay on The Mexican National Flag and Crest The Mexican National Flag and Crest Domestic violence involves the systematic use of force, threats and intimidation by one partner upon another in order for the dominating partner to have control over the victim. In general, women who are abused physically are often isolated. Their partners tend to control their lives to a great extent as well as verbally degrade them. Even though the Latina women are particularly vulnerable to domestic violence because of their culture, it does not mean that this situation does not exist in other societies. Domestic violence happens in all races, religions and social statuses. It could appear in any family and in order to prevent it, everyone in the society must have knowledge of the problem, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another aspect that has a huge influence in women's decisions and does not let them feel free to call the police, is their families' opinion. The divorce is not really allowed; it is still a taboo in Latin's families. They think that if you marry someone, this marriage must last forever. Even though the man hits you, hits your kids, or uses drugs, your responsibility as a wife is to be with him, after all "he is your husband and there is nothing you can do to change that." The language barrier is also an obstacle for most of the women that suffer domestic violence in the United States. Most of Latina women do not speak English and when they decide to call the police for help, they can not explain what is going on. Therefore, the police are not able to do anything to the husband because they do not really know what the problem is. Also, the man usually threatens the wife with things such as to call immigration, come after her when he gets out of prison and kill her, or stop the legalization papers for her and their children. In addition, Latina women grow up with the thought that a women is nothing without a man; for this reason, they are afraid to be by themselves. The women do not feel able to support their family without a man besides them. In the Latin culture, the man has exclusive control over all money and household financial matters, the woman is not allowed in the decision–making process at home. Because of this, women do ... • 2. Filippo 's Burgonet ( 1543 ) Filippo Negroli's Burgonet (1543) is a highly detailed decorative helmet fashioned out of a single plate of steel. Patinated to have the appearance of bronze, ancient Roman–inspired carvings adorn the surface. The piece is 9.5 inches in height, 7.3 inches in width, and weighs 4 lb. 2 oz. Originally created in Milan, it now resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The helmet exists on its own – there is no accompanying armor or shield. This makes sense as the helmet exists for purely aesthetic reasons. A burgonet is a term for a visored helmet. These were helmets that were largely open–faced, with a crest running from back to front. The burgonet became commonplace during the Renaissance. Negroli's Burgonet clearly takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since this burgonet is created out of one sheet of steel, it allows the entire helmet to have a unified, highly polished look. This further contributes to the elegant and simple shape of the overall helmet. It is, of course, impossible to consider this helmet without discussing the detailed surface. All the other details – the simple, curved shape, the single, shiny sheet of steel, the riff on the classic burgonet – are in service of the carefully constructed surface design. Ancient Roman creatures and myths commingle to create a harmonious design which flows together with the overall shape. At the center of it all is a lounging siren, forming the crest. Her body travels the entire helmet, reaching down to the visor, where it is revealed that she is holding a severed head. Considering that this head has hair made of snakes (and the fact that it is severed at all) suggests this to be the head of Medusa. Evil and transfixing, it stares out at the viewer from the front. Moving around the side, cherubs, scrolls, flowers, and decorative lines all swirl together, the curving shapes matching the curves of the steel. The left and right sides are perfectly mirrored to each other. This is seen most clearly when turning to the back of the helmet– the siren's scaly tail reaches down toward the base. It branches off on either side, immediately connecting to the swirling mass of objects on either side (completely identical). This creates a ringing effect, starting ... • 3. Summary: John Muir And The Pacific Crest Trail Our backing group had for some time hiked all over the Sierra's, and because our leader Mario Bonura made it easy on us, the trips were always circular. That is we ended up where we started from. So we talked about a backpacking trip which combined other trips but began and ended up elsewhere. With this in mind we devised this trip which began in Toulumne Meadows and finished up in Mammoth Lakes, basically using the John Muir/The Pacific Crest Trail with some cross country thrown in for good measure. Thus we put our leader to work to devise this trip which included a trail map, trail summary, scenic history, and the appropriate permits. Of course all the photographs were also taken by Mario. We traveled up the 395 highway from Los Angeles to the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park. We parked our cars at the Toulumne Meadows backpack campsite and retreated with two cars back to Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort parking lot and left one of our cars there to act as a shuttle back to our cars in Yosemite, at the end of our backpack trip. The whole gang was there, Mario, Tim, Gale, Andreae, Spencer, Kevin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spencer walked over to another campsite and talked to the campers. For whatever reason, he came back with an air mattress twice the size as the ones we were using. We had heard from other hikers of the presence of bears. So we set a bear watch of two hours each, all night long. As would usually happen one of the watchers would hang around and talk way into the relieving watchers time. Which was always a welcome relief to the one awakened. There is nothing better than talking to a friend under the spectacular and unobstructed view of all the stars in the heavens around a warm campfire. This solitude however, was continually interrupted by Spencer, for every time he rolled over on his new mattress it went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this book she has blonde, short hair and is twenty–two. What motivates her is the death of her mother. Her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, they found out and it was too late to get her treatment. This took a huge toll on Cheryl's life and her brother, Leif. Also, Cheryl and her husband, Paul, get a divorce because of her unfaithfulness. This also is another reason that motivates her to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. • 5. Personal Narrative: Calvin Crest In a small town of Oakhurst CA, there is a place that holds a place in my heart. An outdoor camp school, filed with 300 year old redwood trees and Native American history. But my favorite part about Calvin Crest is that while we learn about nature; we also learn about God and all the wonderful things he has put on his earth just for us. Even though it's only a few miles from home, it feels like a different world. The first time I went to Calvin Crest was in 2012, with my school; Fresno Christian. We had to get to the school by 6 a.m. and believe me there was no one ready to be there. Once everyone got there we were assigned to different cars and sent on our way! It was about a 45 minute drive from Fresno to Calvin Crest. Most of us got more sleep in the car, while others had Starbucks and sang songs on the radio. When we arrived we unloaded all of the luggage and were sent to our cabins, all my good friends were in mine so I didn't have a problem. Then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We learned many interesting facts about the Native Americans and how they survived out in the wild for hundreds of years. We also learned how to survive in the wilderness if we ever got lost; using nature and whatever we had on us as tools to keep us alive. By the end of the week, a lot of us didn't want to go home. We had become a family, with members that you don't like and annoy you but you still love them anyway. By that time my ankle was pretty swollen and painful but I didn't fuss about it. The last night was crazy hair night, and we had so much gel and color in our hair we could run a circus. Since my hair was short the girls in my cabin Mo hawked it. It was a lot of fun and many laughs were shared as memories filled the room. Once we were home, it wasn't the same. While Colgate has enjoyed the lead around the world with sales in over 170 countries and over 2 billion dollars, the United States has been their fiercest battle ground and one that Procter and Gamble's Crest dominated for thirty years as America's favorite toothpaste. That came to an end when Colgate Total was launched in 1998, Colgate took the lead in the United States. Procter and Gamble to compete began expanding their family brand into other oral health products, which included whitening, toothbrushes, mouthwashes and floss. It featured the artwork of Norman Rockwell and carried the theme, "Look, mom – no cavities." (Kramer, 2007) What really reinforced their brand equity was in 1960, when the American Dental Association gave them a third party validation. This gave way to Crest becoming the leader in toothpaste in the United States. For over 50 years Crest states that they were the leader in dental health, providing healthy and beautiful smiles across the country. (Crest Corporate, n.d.) Colgate on the other hand began in New York in 1806 by its namesake William Colgate as a soap company. Since that time numerous generations have formed what the company is today. In 1873, Colgate introduced toothpaste in a jar and followed in 1896 with the collapsible tube. By 1906, when Colgate celebrated its 100th birthday they had over 800 products on the market. (Colgate Corporate, n.d.) At this time their tagline for toothpaste was "We cannot improve the paste, so improved the tube." In 1911, Colgate began its relationship marketing by distributing over 2 million tooth brushes and tubes of toothpaste to school children along with nurses to demonstrate how to brush your teeth. Then in the 1920's they began to open operations in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa to expand to the world markets. It was not until 1968 that Colgate added fluoride to their toothpaste. • 8. John Kinsella: the Crest Commentary: The Crest By Amy L Humankind's threat to the earth and the natural world has been a common theme of writing since the industrial revolution and underpins The Crest. Kinsella's forboding poem presents a powerful analogy with man's pastoral development and it's intrusion into the natural world. Kinsella's message is made clearly and strongly in the first few lines; "that at high speed this rise moving away from town can so much epitomise the age". Here the truck represents the current age of mankind, moving away from the safety and security of town, traveling too fast, going up the rise and approaching the crest of the hill over which unknown danger waits. Like the truck, humankind is overloaded and travelling too fast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The repetition of 'or' and the rhyming of 'surprise' and 'eyes' adds spotlights the implied causes and their significance which is seen later on, causing the tipping point. This emphasises that the way in which we are damaging the natural world can so suddenly lead to disaster. There are, however, places where Kinsella tightens his focus on how disaster is lived out in personal ways, by highlighting what a calamity can do to people, families. This technique is used to evoke affective responses in the reader – to make a connection. The crest is described to be an "undoer of families", illustrating the effects of the accidents it can cause on them and which readers can relate to in apersonal way. There is also a type of contrast used by saying how our uncritical enjoyment of the country views we have from the road can be ended, over the crest. One time I was with my friends and we were just walking around and then we got approached by an officer he then asked us if we had IDs we replied "No" so we had to leave, but that didn't change my opinion on the mall whatsoever plus I'm 18 now so I can stay if I want . Analysis Of The Sunning God By Caleb Chavez The Sunning God By: Caleb Chavez It was a somewhat normal day as it started the constant birds chirping, the smell of pie that the Neighbors cooked, and the taste of morning breakfast. My younger brother Bon and I were off the school that morning. We don't go to a normal school due to the war. We went to a knight school where they taught us how to use weapons. But what we didn't know is that day would be the worst day of our lives. While we were gone our mother had been cleaning up the house, the house was hollow wood with no door and one window. It smelled like a farm and looked like a barn. It was still home, while our mother was cooking. A man dressed in dark clothes from foot to hat. Dressed in nothing but black, well that's just ... When I started to reach for I stopped and grabbed my scythe. When I reached outside there was three men surrounding some women. I yelled to leave her alone and when they turned around they laughed due to the scythe. I yelled again then one man charged at me with a sword slicing through the wind. I ducked as quickly as I could and turned around and swung my scythe piercing one the man. I wanted to say not so funny is it, but before I could the next two came at me. Both had long axes, which is also two handed. They were going to swing from both sides and pierce me, which honestly is a very risky move. Due to ducking, if I would duck they would hit each other. This brightly colored imagery along with the previously mentioned aspects of the ad lead the viewer to equate Crest with brightness and shininess, two common characteristics that consumers look for in a toothpaste. Another area of comparison between the three ads are their varying movements. In the Oral–B advertisement, viewers are first drawn to the image of a woman who is presumably a dentist. The image is most drawing because of its location in the optical center; moreover, it is the focal point of the ad. • 17. The Control Cranial Neural Crest Cells The focal adhesions in the control cranial neural crest cells are clearly visible in (Fig 4A and C). The actin filaments are also distinguishable, whereas in the cells treated with ethanol, there is an irregular distribution of the microfilaments. The cells in the cultures exposed to ethanol are small yet have an increased number in cells compared to the control cranial neural crest cells (Fig 4A). There is a prominent disarray and overlap, which suggests an alteration in the orientation in the actin cytoskeleton of the alcohol–treated cells (Oyedele and Kramer, 2013). There is evidence that suggests that this migration disruption leads to apoptosis (Rovasio and Battatio, 2002). When exposed to chronic levels of ethanol, there is reduction in cell size and surface area (Rovasio and Battatio, 2002). There might be a role of apoptotic mechanism involved to rid of any cells that have not undergone migration successfully resulting in a decreased surface area due to loss of cells. Exposure to alcohol leads to a disruption in the actin cytoskeleton of the neural crest cells, thereby thickening and fragmenting the cell–to–cell connections eliciting collapse of neural crest cells. Even after 24hrs have subsided and alcohol has been removed there is still cytoskeletal remodeling present demonstrating that the there might be a reorganization of cell signaling occurring leading to this cause (Rovasio and Battatio, 2002). Therefore, there is possibility of existence of multiple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Neural Crest Cells Essay Neural crest cells are transient vertebral cell types, which form at the boundary between the neural plate and surface ectoderm. They are multipotent and able to migrate and differentiate into numerous derivatives resulting in them being referred to as the 'fourth germ layer'. It is thought that the evolution of vertebrates is due to large–scale genome duplications which occurred early in the vertebrate lineage. Research suggests that there were two rounds of genome duplication during early vertebrate evolution. However, there is an alternative research model which suggests that in stem vertebrates there was a single round of duplication, followed by lineage–specific segmental duplications in cyclostomes and jawed vertebrates. Despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also evidence to suggest that the fate of neural crest cells depends upon their migratory path in the trunk which is dictated by somites. Cells which migrate early move ventrally and pass through the anterior half sclerotome, form the sensory ganglia. Cells which are more dorsal within the anterior sclerotome form the sensory neurons and glia of the dorsal root ganglia, partly due to signals which come from the neural tube. Alternatively, the neural crest cells which migrate late travel laterally between the somite and the ectoderm, forming melanocytes in amniotes. It is thought that the increased complexity in vertebrate neuroanatomy may stem from interactions between neural crest cells and other cell types. An example of this is the essential role of neural crest cells in the expansion of the head and formation of a 'true neck'. Neural crest cells are thought to be crucial in multiple stages of cranial mesoderm development and secrete signals which depress myogenesis, consequently allowing the formation of cranial myofibres. Research has suggested that these distinct myogenic regulatory sub–networks arose in early vertebrates. The formation of a 'true neck' is a result of the pectoral girdle losing its attachment to the skull, and allowed tetrapods to colonise land as they could now move their head independent of limbs. The first comes from the 1900s. Lieutenant–General Sir Robert Baden–Powell, a hero of the Boer Wars, wrote a military manual on stalking and survival in the wilderness. Upon returning to England from the war, Baden–Powell found that English boys were reading the military manual. As a result, he rewrote the manual as a nonmilitary nature skills book for boys and in 1908 founded the Boy Scouts. In 1910 the United States brought Boy Scouting to the US. The premise of the organization retained the ideas of survival in the wilderness and taught young men how to dominate nature. Boys learned how to use an axe, to build a shelter, build a campfire, and to trap and catch food. The scouting program produced the mindset of the boy scout as "the manly man" and called it woodcraft. The best example of woodcraft would have to be Joseph Knowles, he "captured national attention when he walked buck naked into the Maine woods". He explained, "there was too much artificial life at the present day in the cities." For the next two months, he made an experiment of himself, trying to live off of the land. During a subsequent visit, Westphal became inebriated at John?s house and stayed the night in the guest room. After Westphal began to doze off, Marilynn entered the room and joined Westphal in bed. John then entered the room to remind Westphal of his obligation. Fearing the loss of his job, Westphal fulfilled John?s desires. After this incident rumors of John?s sexual preferences began to spread. John?s interests in young boys increased and in the spring of 1968 he was indicted by a grand jury in Black Hawk County for allegedly committing sodomy with a teenage boy named Mark Miller. Mark told the courts that John had tricked him into being handcuffed and had then violently raped him. John, fearful of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. How To Write A Visual Analysis Of Kid's Crest Toothpaste There are great advertisements that influence many magazine readers around the world. In the November 2011 published magazine of "Yum for Kids", Crest placed an advertisement for their product, Kid's Crest (Toothpaste), which was created to appeal to kids and parents. That ad's effectiveness relies on irony, simplicity, and specific language choice to appeal to the kids and parents as well as build the brand's credibility and the consumer's trust in the product. The magazine, "Yum for Kids," appeals to wide variety of audiences, with articles and contents mostly pertaining to kindergartens, elementary students, and parents. With delicious, healthy, fun food and new recipes, it is clear that this magazine is mostly read by parents and kids, who are interested in family dinners, food shopping lists, and cooker recipes. With happy animated characters cheering around the Kid's Crest, the advertisement shows the excitement of the toothpaste in comparison to the overwhelming collage of pictures and texts on the adjoin page. This juxtaposition helps to capture the attention of the consumer. In fact, the images encapsulate the sociable of the readers, because there is truly nothing more approachable than the characters from the comic book. The color of the character also serves to strengthen the friendly appeal – blue, the most faithful color, naturally evokes a response from the children and parents who read this magazine. • 29. Is Crest Toothpaste Truly Complete? Essay Appeal is the key to the car of spending. Advertisers know, to be successful, they must be able to quickly grab an audience's attention and promptly make their point to keep it. A good advertisement must also contain all three of Aristotle's appeals; pathos, ethos and logos, in order to convey a message to the masses. The visual appeal that is given from the Crest Complete with Scope ad is a prime example of how the Procter and Gamble (P&G) Company market their products to a generation that in fast–paced and easily distractible. The makers of Crest, P&G, deliver the first appeal, pathos, through their visual art and a catch phrase. The picture is meant to grab the attention and draw an emotional based reaction. In this ad, many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... P&G, as a whole, also carries a noticeable title, the number thirteen spot on the List of America's Most Reputable Companies. P&G use a couple different advertising techniques to help them gain the trust of the consumers. One of these ways is through subliminal advertising, in which they sponsor the Winter Olympics. P&G, just this week, was helping to initiate one of this year's new Olympic games, the Snowboard Slope Style competition, by having the company logo plastered on one of the jump ramps. Another technique that Crest specifically uses is product association. Using famous singer Shakira, advertisers build a mental connection between music and their product in hopes that this will help consumers buy Crest. The last appeal that an advertiser will attempt to make is that of logos, or the logical appeal. Advertisers know that price is not the true appeal to all buyers and excluding it from their ad not only allows merchants to adjust the price by market but also allows the readers to do more research into the best product choice. In this ad, the visual aid points the reader to a small clock. This clock seems meaningless and out of place until the reader checks the statement that Crest lasts five times longer. However, claims of longer lasting fresh breath may not make a believer out of all consumers. For this reason, Crest shouts out, on their web site, that all their products are ... Demonstration Speech: Hiking The Pacific Crest Trail The demonstration speech was a speech where we were required to explain how something works or how to do something to our lab section class. For my demonstration speech I chose the topic of how to prepare for a hike. The purpose for choosing this topic was because test weeks were coming up and whenever I feel overly stressed I often take a hike to decompress as well as the fact I am planning on hiking a one thousand mile trail on the western border of the United States made me think I was capable to explain how to prepare for a hike. I started off the speech by describing my plan after I graduate on hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and how it related to my favorite novel, Wild written by Cheryl Strayed. I flew from San Francisco to San Diego where I started the 2,600 mile hike from Mexican–American border in California to the Canadian–American border in Washington. I had with me a 63.4 lb backpack filled with all the odds and ends that go along with commencing a cross–continental hike. I was prepared. Its July now and I am in the heart of the Sierra Nevada about 35 miles North of Yosemite National Park, 80 miles away from my next resupply point, 4 days behind schedule, I only have 2 days of food left. They are pointing in the direction I am headed. I think nothing of it and finish setting up my camp. I lay down in my tent to sleep lying awake for a few minutes still a little unsettled by the tracks I saw earlier. There is a flash and several seconds later thunder. The storm must be getting closer. Hopefully, it rains tonight and doesn't interrupt my journey tomorrow. Another flash followed by thunder and then a light rain strikes my tent. Being the first to develop fluoride effective in preventing cavities and tooth decay, it served as a major scientific breakthrough and has been a trusted product throughout the years. Today, it continues to make advancements towards dental hygiene, and has also developed several other products to assist in complete oral care. Finally, with the knowledge that as people travel they may forget to pack their dental hygiene products, they may also make it available in hotel gift shops across the world. Deciding a price for the product is a very important step. If the price is too high, consumers may opt for the less expensive alternative, even though Crest has such a strong, longstanding tradition. Setting the price too low may make consumers wonder why the leader in oral care is selling their products lower than others, and may opt for another option due to a discombobulating combination of a trusted product and a lower than average price. Therefore, a price slightly above average would be the best option, as it would relay to consumers that it is a leader in the industry that should be strongly considered, and the difference in price would reflect added value. Finally, as oral care is an inelastic product, as the economy changes the price may fluctuate and the demand should not be affected. Lastly, Proctor and Gamble must decide how to promote the product. As they are credited for the scientific breakthrough of the effects of fluoride on cavity and tooth decay prevention, P&G should certainly make this known. This will create a general respect for the product, and a strong sense of trust. Visual advertisements are a strong force that should be considered. Television commercials featuring beautiful ... • 36. Devils : National Monument Is Preserved And Protected By... Devils Postpile National Monument is in Madera County, Mammoth Lakes, California on Western side of the Sierra Nevada. In 1911 Devils Postpile National Monument was preserved and protected by the National Parks Services because of the two main geologic features present there that draw attention to this area. The Formation of the Columnar Basalt (Devils Postpile), which named the monument and the other feature being Rainbow Falls. Although Devils Postpile National Monument is relatively small, the 798 acres entices nearly thousands of visitors every year (Arnett et al. 367– 368). This land is home to naturally occurring beauty, great hiking trails, diverse habitats, numerous geologic features and much more which is why Devils Postpile should be upgraded to National Park Status. The history behind Devils Postpile started with the Native American Indians about 7,500 years ago who were living on the Sierra Nevada's. The Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River was their main trade and was using the location for hunting. The forming of the geologic features go way back to starting with the beginning of North America millions of years ago. The land that is now known as Eastern California, was covered by a shallow sea. North America was slowly being pushed westward and oceanic crust was being pushed onto the side and being pulled underneath the continent. After continuous repetition, this accretionary wedge formed. • 37. Constellation Monologue The world is a terrible, unfair, biased place run by the Stars. Constellations have taken over every aspect of people's lives. Anyone could tell who was in favor of the Stars and who wasn't. The most loved by the Stars are granted health, beauty, an abundance of riches, and constant protection. The despised have the worst "luck" with their boils, warts, disease, and hunger. Luckily, my best friends and I are somewhere in the upper middle class. We aren't much to look at, but our health is in relatively good terms, and we have enough money to get by. There are four of us total, each with our own skills. These skills have allowed us to be able to construct a plan, one that could get us all killed if we were caught. Because of our talk of how things would be if the Stars had no power, Xavior, Taniesha, Jairus, and I were ostracized by not only our community, but our families as well. They wanted no connection to "the Star–haters, who would undoubtedly get them all killed with their talk of a revolution." It was no matter. We wanted an end to this dictatorship. So, we hatched a plan: get rid of the Constellations' power over the people. All we would need is a new Constellation. This Constellation would keep the other Stars at bay in ... Us four teenagers put our brains together to put a plan in motion, Taniesha's expertise on being deceitful and getting past Star Troopers, Jairus' on how to best go about forcing our way through obstacles, mine on having multiple options available for backup strategies, and Xavior's on everything else. • 38. A Brief Note On Good News For Trail Pounders ! Not far from Ebbetts Pass in Alpine County, sapphire– blue Highland Lakes nest in a sub–alpine flat within Carson–Iceberg Wilderness at 8,600 feet elevation. Flanked by Hiram and Folger Peaks, the lakes are located six miles off Highway 4 via a lumpy dirt road. Surprisingly, though the scenery in this neck of the woods is utterly spectacular, it is very lightly visited. Truth is, the 161,000–acre wilderness bordering Ebbetts Pass sees fewer people than any area in the entire Sierra Nevada. Good news for trail pounders! One explanation for a lonely landscape is the scarcity of lakes. But, there are plenty of streams; the East Fork Carson River among them is a trout–filled beauty. Kayaking or canoeing on one of the lakes is bliss in this scenic, peaceful environment. Additionally, a trail from the easternmost lake crosses big beautiful Gardner Meadow and leads to petite Asa Lake and connects with the Pacific Crest Trail. A trail from the top of the campground across from the western lake leads to a jaunt up Folger Peak, a non–technical hike. Across from the same lake, hikers can pick up an unofficial use trail to the base of Hiram Peak. Hiram Peak is also a non– technical trek, although along a stretch of ridgeline near the top, acrophobes will get the willies and should stop. The Pacific Crest Trail attracts two types of people long–distance hikers about to start the journey of a lifetime and northbound migrants seeking better lives in the US. In spring, their paths converge near wooden columns marking the start of the 2,060 –mile journey that traverses the spine of the Sierra Mountains to the Canadian border. Both the thru–hikers and the migrants share a common bond and that's to cross the southernmost section of the PCT safely, while carrying the weight of expectations on their shoulders. In the wild and uninhabited sections, hikers find discarded clothes and crushed water bottles, telltale signs of activity at the heart of the border debate. While on the trail, thru–hikers often get the sense that people are either not too far ahead or not too far behind them, which is a valid assumption to make. Since, during the months of April and May up to 50 thru–hikers will embark on the PCT per day. Regardless of how thru–hikers feel about the immigration debate or the migrants, conditions on the trail and environs are inescapable for both groups. As the days become longer, so do the daytime temperatures, which can soar into the mid–90s by midday in May. Hikers are encouraged to drink up to one gallon of water per day, and as much as they can prior to hitting the trail each morning.
