Our backing group had for some time hiked all over the Sierra's, and because our leader Mario
Bonura made it easy on us, the trips were always circular. That is we ended up where we started
from. So we talked about a backpacking trip which combined other trips but began and ended up
elsewhere. With this in mind we devised this trip which began in Toulumne Meadows and finished
up in Mammoth Lakes, basically using the John Muir/The Pacific Crest Trail with some cross
country thrown in for good measure. Thus we put our leader to work to devise this trip which
included a trail map, trail summary, scenic history, and the appropriate permits. Of course all the
photographs were also taken by Mario. We traveled up the 395 highway from Los Angeles to the

Toothpaste advertisements made by Oral–B, Colgate, and Crest use color, movement, and appeals in
various ways in order to have specific effects on their intended audience. These three ads, all in print
or video format, aim to garner positive reactions from their viewers and to have a memorable effect.
By formating their advertisements in differing styles, these agencies are attempting to ensure that
their product will be impactful and successful in the marketing industry.
These three advertisements utilize color in varying ways to make their audience associate certain
tones with the merchandise they are promoting. The Oral–B ad depicts a dentist holding a box of

advertisement, viewers are first drawn to the image of a woman who is presumably a dentist. The
image is most drawing because of its location in the optical center; moreover, it is the focal point of
the ad. Next, the motion of the advertisement guides the viewer to the largest text, located at the top.
The top text is larger in font size and easier to read, drawing the audience in more so than the small
text which is more difficult to see from a distance. This ad then directs the eye to the toothpaste box

I selected critical thinking challenge number one. I was able to locate a Crest White Strip
commercial to which I felt did a great job of demonstrating classical conditioning. The commercial
begins with two women sitting at a table reminiscing over their high school yearbook photos.
Woman #1 makes a comment on how white her teeth were back in school and doesn't want to show
off her yellow smile at their high school reunion. Woman #2 tells her to do what she's doing and
whiten her teeth. Woman #1 agrees whitening her teeth would be a great solution, but doesn't want

not undergone migration successfully resulting in a decreased surface area due to loss of cells.
Exposure to alcohol leads to a disruption in the actin cytoskeleton of the neural crest cells, thereby
thickening and fragmenting the cell–to–cell connections eliciting collapse of neural crest cells. Even
after 24hrs have subsided and alcohol has been removed there is still cytoskeletal remodeling
present demonstrating that the there might be a reorganization of cell signaling occurring leading to

Walking and hiking have been around as long as man has been around. Walking was a means of
survival as well as a relaxing because man had to hunt for food which meant he had to search for it.
Walking has also been a way to relax and clear your mind and meditate for generations. If you think
about it, the first people to organize this activity were probably cavemen. However, if you are
talking about the people who first climbed a mountain, then the first people to climb Everest were
Norgay and Hilary in 1953.
Walking is about building endurance for longer trips and reaching a new destination. One of the
modern day professionals could be Cheryl Strayed who wrote the book Wild. She walked the Pacific
Crest Trail in 2012 and it took her months.

Devils Postpile National Monument is in Madera County, Mammoth Lakes, California on Western
side of the Sierra Nevada. In 1911 Devils Postpile National Monument was preserved and protected
by the National Parks Services because of the two main geologic features present there that draw
attention to this area. The Formation of the Columnar Basalt (Devils Postpile), which named the
monument and the other feature being Rainbow Falls. Although Devils Postpile National Monument
is relatively small, the 798 acres entices nearly thousands of visitors every year (Arnett et al. 367–

trade and was using the location for hunting. The forming of the geologic features go way back to
starting with the beginning of North America millions of years ago. The land that is now known as
Eastern California, was covered by a shallow sea. North America was slowly being pushed
westward and oceanic crust was being pushed onto the side and being pulled underneath the

The world is a terrible, unfair, biased place run by the Stars. Constellations have taken over every
aspect of people's lives. Anyone could tell who was in favor of the Stars and who wasn't. The most
loved by the Stars are granted health, beauty, an abundance of riches, and constant protection. The
despised have the worst "luck" with their boils, warts, disease, and hunger. Luckily, my best friends
and I are somewhere in the upper middle class. We aren't much to look at, but our health is in
relatively good terms, and we have enough money to get by.

Not far from Ebbetts Pass in Alpine County, sapphire– blue Highland Lakes nest in a sub–alpine flat
within Carson–Iceberg Wilderness at 8,600 feet elevation. Flanked by Hiram and Folger Peaks, the
lakes are located six miles off Highway 4 via a lumpy dirt road. Surprisingly, though the scenery in
this neck of the woods is utterly spectacular, it is very lightly visited. Truth is, the 161,000–acre
wilderness bordering Ebbetts Pass sees fewer people than any area in the entire Sierra Nevada.
Good news for trail pounders! One explanation for a lonely landscape is the scarcity of lakes. But,

That said, this wilderness shows more evidence of volcanism than any other part of the Sierra south
of the Lassen region. Highland Lakes offer a smorgasbord of recreation for outdoor enthusiasts.
Kayaking or canoeing on one of the lakes is bliss in this scenic, peaceful environment. Additionally,
a trail from the easternmost lake crosses big beautiful Gardner Meadow and leads to petite Asa Lake
