Case Study-Hershey
I. INTRODUCTION Think of Hershey Food Corporation and chocolate comes immediately to mind.
Hershey is the leading manufacturer of chocolate in North America but that is not all what Hershey is
all about. Considering the humble beginnings of its founder, Milton Hershey, Hershey Food
Corporation s success is as sweet as the chocolates it produces and as lovely as the candies it offers its
customers. But before gaining its sweet success, it had undergone business dilemma like bankruptcy.
But due to good governance, it was able to turn this dilemma to strengths. Its growth in its local
markets can be described to be vast. In a few years of establishment, it had large acquisitions of
different companies which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Macadamia Nut Corporation. Mauna Lao is the leading processor and marketer of macadamia snacks
and has an annual sales of about $80 Billion. Grupo Lorena, on the other hand, is the leader in Mexico
in the spicy candy market and has an annula sales of over $30 million. Hershey also manufactures and

Dr Sergio Research Paper
Sergio is a Spanish man in his late 30s, and he had black hair. His dream was to go to El Clasico
which was a soccer match against FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, but he didn t have enough money
because some thieves robbed his house during nightfall. Since he was very slow at running he could
only play golf. He tried playing golf, and he did extremely well. He signed up for a golf league in
Granada, Spain. The very first match he got a score of 2 and was ranked number 2. There were seven
matches left, and if he got first place in all the following matches, he would get to go to the U.S.
Open. When he practiced golf, he accidentally fell in the water. Sergio got a major concussion, and the
police took him to the hospital. The total cost of the hospital was 750 Euros. After he payed the bill of
750 Euros, he only had 500 Euros left. He played his second match and had gotten a score of 5 and
was ranked number 1. Sergio was 1 1. Since he won, he got 125 Euros. He spent it on a premium golf
club that was like a golden golf club because it lasted for a long time and was as strong as gold too.
This golf club was guaranteed to win all his golf matches. He won the next six golf matches and got to

Measuring Personality Traits with Eysenck Personality...
Targeted population, creator and history of assessment
Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) test which is a third personality test created by Hans
Eysenck and Sybil Eysenck at 1975 (Fiest Fiest, 2008). Hans Eysenck (1916 1997) was born in
Germany on March 4, 1916. Due to the persecution of jews he fled to England at the age of 18 and
here he became a famous psychiatrist. The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire built on the basic and
successive improvement of Maudsley Personality Inventory and Eysenck Personality Inventory which
included extraversion (E) scale, nuerocitism (N) scale, and psychoticism (p) scale. The EPQ is a self
reported questionnaire. Basically, EPQ can use to test every people because it possess adult and junior
version to measures the personality traits of adult and children and also also used for research
purposes in a large population such as teenagers attending school. Moreover, EPQ can be involved in
larger studies aiming to measure, for instance; drug addiction, danger behaviour (Anton, Oscar Luis,
2002).

Reliability and Validity
Since the development of Eyesnckpersonality theory, numerous measures were developedto assess the
varioustraits of personality. However, one of the outcomeof this process has been a progressive
increase in their length. This increase in length can be accounted for by the introduction of an
additional dimension of personality within Eyesnck s scheme (Eyesnck Eyesnck, 1976) and by the

Suffering In Sophocles Oedipus The King
From Greece to Rome and to Britain, the world s most renowned philosophers and literary writers
have tackled the concept of suffering. From Sophocles Oedipus the King, to the poetry written by
Jonathan Swift, John Donne and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, multiple literary scholars have
demonstrated suffering throughout the last couple centuries. Whether it may be sexual suffering as
seen in the work of John Donne s His Mistress Going to Bed, and Jonathan Swifts The Lady s
Dressing Room and A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, or the emotional, physical and psychological
suffering in Oedipus the King, literature s greatest authors have allowed audiences to experience a

The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in fact,
rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he did in A
Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and misogynistic
approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of Strephon, a young
man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer psychologically from what
he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind, to all the charms of female kind
. Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus the King but is psychologically
scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately
disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at
the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that
audience members are truly aware of Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for
Strephon, his suffering is quite humorous. After Strephon runs away from Celia s chamber, the reader
is reminded of how foolish his actions and reaction to his discovery of Celia s bodily functions were in
fact, they were

EXERCISE 29 t TEST FOR INDEPENDENT GROUPS I STATISTICAL TECHNIQUE IN REVIEW
The t test is a parametric analysis technique used to determine significant differences between the
scores obtained from two groups. The t test uses the standard deviation to estimate the standard error
of the sampling distribution and examines the differences between the means of the two groups. Since
the t test is considered fairly easy to calculate, researchers often use it in determining differences
between two groups. When interpreting the results of t tests, the larger the calculated t ratio, in
absolute value, the greater the difference between the two groups. The significance of a t ratio can be
determined by comparison with the critical values in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the researchers conducted a chart review of each participant s medical record. In this study
the results showed that compared with men, women used more evasive and supportive coping and
rated psychologic aspects of the heart disease as more problematic to manage. More women perceived
available support from friends and grandchildren, and more men perceived available support from
their partner. Women rated lower levels in physical and psychologic dimensions of quality of life
(Kristofferzon et al., 2005, p. 39). Relevant Study Results A consecutive series of patients was
selected from the medical records in 1 hospital between August 1999 and July 2001 for women and
between August 1999 and August 2000 for men. With regard to a lower incidence rate of MI in
women, a longer selection period was needed for them.... We decided to include 100 women and 100
men to have a comfortable margin for dropouts. An introductory letter, informed consent form, and
questionnaires were mailed to eligible subjects 1 month after an acute MI. After 1 week, the first

Personal Narrative-My Long-Term Goals
My long term goals start by acquiring many jobs and having those jobs help me gain new skills and
experience. I would like to grow as an individual in the next few years. My goal is to finally ride in an
airplane. I would like to explore new areas and learn about different cultures. I see myself studying
abroad and graduating from UC Merced. Have made so many friends and gained so much learning.
My goal is to buy an expensive vehicle, one that is comfortable and saves gas. I would really like to
own my own house and live in a good neighborhood with a steady income job. I would like to have a
job that uses my skills and experience to help improve my working place. All these goals are between
three to ten years to complete.

International Financial Reporting Standards
Abercrombie Fitch uses generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as the basis for the
production of its financial statements. In contrast, Hennes Mauritz (H M) uses international financial
report standards (IFRS). H M also utilizes Swedish GAAP. For its annual report, there is no indication
of what standard is used, and there are no official financial statements. H M does not note what
auditing standards it uses in its annual report. By contrast, the ANF Form 10 K notes that the company
s auditors use the Internal Control Integrated Framework as laid out by the Committee of Sponsoring
Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), as noted on page 100 of the 2011 Annual
Report.
There are significant differences between the annual reports presented on the websites. On a
fundamental level, the Abercrombie report consists of the 10 K. This is a formal document with
consistent formatting as prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. There is a substantial
amount of information contained within this report. The H M report is the exact opposite. It is an
informal report, oriented towards visuals, and does not appear to have a consistent format for financial
statements. Ostensibly, the company uses IFRS for the compilation of statements, but those statements
do not make their way into the report that the company publishes online. If the company publishes a
formal accounting statements, it does not have those readily available. Even for previous years,

Tarantino s Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction is a movie that almost everyone today has seen during it theater run or at home on DVD
or Netflix. However, it can be a complicated movie to understand if one is only looking for a straight
narrative. Pulp fiction seems to have multiple plots being told almost simultaneously creating an aura
of confusion for the ones not paying close attention. Some will say it is about two hit men or a boxer,
but actually there is no set story behind the film. The whole purpose of the film was to parody every
type of film movement created.
Tarantino s film included all types of film movement ever created; however, his film had no story.
Maybe this was done to show that by applying some of the rules from each movement, a director can

Other aspects of the film such as mise en scene also make the film s meaning. Tarantino also used his
film to define social themes, especially through the use of the mise en scene. Specifically, in the scene
where the young Butch is about to receive his father s gold watch, he is watching a show that can be
considered racist showing the upbringing and themes of the past. Another example, is when Jules and
Vincent take Marvin s body to Jimmie s house. Jimmie s reaction is actually very surrealistic. In other
words, the incident manages to rekindle the racial stereotypes that were lurking in Jimmie s
subconscious. Jimmie says a swear word that can be offensive without even thinking twice about what
he has said, especially in front of his African American friend, Jules. Normally, in most movies and
real life situations this would not be tolerated and would cause an issue. Tarantino also makes many
references to television shows throughout his film. This gives his film a Post Modernist style,
however, it can also be used as a social commentary on the importance of television to modern day
society. Additionally, Tarantino seems to have based his characters on different characters from the
earlier styles of cinema. For

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
he world is a diverse place. Many cultures, societies and religions, each of them having rich histories.
Due to such abundance of knowledge, being unaware of a society or culture is common. However,
having the wrong idea of a culture or a community could potentially be a devastating problem. In fact,
this is a prevalent problem as false lies about communities are easily spread out to group of people, the
so called fake news problem. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is an Nigerian author who addresses this
problem in her TED Talk at Oxford, England. She asserts that single stories of a place/community can
create a critical misunderstanding. Moreso, the problem is more pervasive than previously thought.
They are not necessarily harmful yet pervasive. For example, subtle stereotypes such as all Asians
only want to be engineers and doctors or every college dropout is an utter failure. Due to such
pervasiveness and consequences, open mindedness is of utmost importance in order to have a peaceful
and a more understanding world or in author s terms, When we realize that there is never a single story
about any place, we will regain a kind of paradise .
In The danger of a single story , Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie argues that having a narrow perspective
of a community, person or a nation can create a critical misunderstanding. Ms.Adichie provides an
example where she believed that only people with white skin and blue eyes can exist in literature
because all the characters in the books

An Analysis Of The Structure Of We The Animals By Justin...
The structure of We The Animals, by Justin Torres, has some patchy qualities to it. In other words, it is
all over the place. There are shifts from scene to scene, in this case the narrator s experiences, which
only reveal certain parts of the narrator s life to the readers. As a reader, I felt like there were pieces
that I was missing from the story because of the lack of transitions. It is like someone giving you a
cake with one slice already taken out. The structure of the novel contributed to my understanding of
the story because it left many things open ended for me to conclude on my own. Additionally, the
narrative of the story was coming from one individual s point of view, Whether my reasonings were
right or wrong, it did not matter.

proving that he had a negative experience. Although he felt all this pain, he goes to the Alcaran Estate

3.1 PESTEL Analysis The PESTEL analysis can be used to analysis the market environment in which
HTC operates in, they include: Political Factors and Legal Factors * Due to the high tech nature of the
industry, products from various companies are heavily patented and since similar technology is used
between manufacturers, infringement of these patents can lead to very costly lawsuits against the
company. * In 2008 as well 2010, lawsuits were filed against HTC by companies such as Apple and
IPCom claiming that HTC infringed upon their patents and demanded compensation such as to
prevent the company from exporting their products into certain countries (Datamonitor, 2011). *
Possible infringement of intellectual property in the future which if proven would result in large
compensation in money as well as damaging the brand image. Economic Factors * Since the company
operates on the global scale and since most of their revenue comes from international markets, HTC
would be positively or negative affected by fluctuation in the exchange rates. * Due to high operating
expenses overseas, such as high cost of labour and taxation, HTC s operating margins have dropped
from 19.9% in 2008 to 15.8% in 2010. However, these margins are considered low when compared to
their competitors (Datamonitor, 2011). Social Factors * According to several report, the demand of

Death to the Death Penalty Contrary to popular belief, the death penalty s approval ratings have
decreased throughout the years, as a study executed by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg explains how
only three states administer the death penalty these days. Capital punishment has worked for a few
years to scare those who desire to commit a federal crime, but because the usage continually
diminishes (despite in a few states), why would the government keep the death penalty if it costs them
millions per year? Cleary, the best option remains: to eliminate this form of punishment once and for

States like New York and New Jersey repealed capital punishment after their citizens spent over $170
million on cases where no executions were made, according to a study done by Richard Dieter. The
money could have been spent elsewhere, like making public education environments more
comfortable or buying more supplies for public service jobs, like the police force and the firefighters.
Even Pope John Paul II believes that capital punishment must be eradicated from societies, as he
stated how an end to the death penalty proves as an essential part of a culture of life. With his millions
of followers, he gained support over the years to eliminate the form of punishment. Punishment which
leads to the murder of a human being.
On the other hand, a copious amount of religions and people reckon that the death penalty proves as a
just form of punishment. In Christianity, people died for crimes, like coming out as a homosexual,
having sexual relations before marriage, and worshiping other gods. Considering these sins, which
they did, and living by the saying, An eye for an eye drove them to believe that the sinners must be put

Neoliberal Globalization And Canadian Sweatshops
This fashions study will define the economic problem of neoliberal globalization and the exploitation
of child labor in Asian and Canadian sweatshops. In the late 20th and early 21st century, the rise of
neoliberal values has become part of the globalization of labor in the fashion sector of the world
economy. Neoliberal values often argue in favor of free market practices and globalization , which lay
the economic foundations for first world transnational fashion corporations to hire child labor in Asian
countries. These corporations often exploit children as workers with low wages and contractual
obligations with their parents that create abusive labor environment often called sweatshops. These
sweatshops are a critical commentary on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More so, the scaling down of production trends to make these local production facilities much smaller,
which eventually results in the formation of a sweatshop style of production. For instance, the process
of sewing a garment can be subcontracted to smaller facilities through a chain of production
methodology: Sewing is contracted out to a network of subcontractors, called jobbers, who may use
home based workers or sweatshop operations to minimize operating costs and maximize profit
margins (Ng 195). These working environments are important examples of how child labor can be
exploited in Canada, as well as in other nations that arte more exposed to the powerful financial
controllers of transitional garment corporations. These are important operational standards in the
sweatshop, which further expose the problem of transnational policies that are supported by the free

Theme Of Death In King Lear
Of the deaths in Shakespeare s King Lear, the death of Cordelia and King Lear at the end of Act V are
most significant in revealing the development of Lear and how his development contributes to the
theme surrounding it. The dynamic King Lear is a tragic hero whose fatal flaw, arrogance, prompts his
removal from power and eventually the death of both himself and Cordelia. However, by the time of
King Lear s death, his arrogance has been replaced with a compassion which allows him to mourn the
death of Cordelia and die from his own grief. Besides redeeming himself for his flawed judgement,
the compassionate King Lear of Act V recognizes the loyalty in characters like Kent and Cordelia,
while also seeing through the dishonesty of Regan and Goneril which fools the King Lear of Act I.
King Lear s transition from disowning Cordelia because of his arrogance to recognizing her as his
only faithful daughter is demonstrated through Lear s death, which serves as the culmination of his
development and a reversal of his character. Furthermore, his death elaborates the theme of how
someone s arrogance may blind them from the reality of others intentions, which can be seen through
a more compassionate and humble lens. In King Lear, Lear s conflict of power with his daughters is
brought about by his own arrogance, which flaws his judgement and propels his change of heart.
When Lear parcels out his kingdom to his daughters, he finds the honesty of Cordelia s praise to be
ungrateful and

Intimate Relationship in All Quiet on the Western Front by...
If I were asked what education should give, I would say it should offer breadth of view, ease of
understanding, tolerance for others, and a background from which the mind can explore in any
direction... Education should provide the tools for a widening and deepening of life, for increased
appreciation of all one sees and experiences. It should equip a person to live life well, to understand
what is happening about him, for to live life well one must live with awareness. This quote is from

Not only did World War I result in severe carnage, it resulted in the mental destruction of the men
involved.
When either World War is depicted, the Germans are often displayed as evil, menacing monsters who
are out to destroy the heroic Allied forces. As All Quiet on the Western Front is told from the
perspective of a German soldier, there is a refreshing change and blunt honesty that accompanies it.
The main difference the candor provides is that the soldiers do not focus on bravery and heroics, as is
common in popularized war media. Rather Remarque states clearly on the first page, This book is to
be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an adventure, for death is not an adventure to
those who stand face to face with it. Remarque himself was in World War I, and explains that war does
not favor the lionhearted over the meek, they are blown to pieces all the same. Paul mentions that,
While they taught that duty to one s country is the greatest thing, we already knew that death throes
are stronger. He reflects on how Kantorek and others inspired him with nationalistic ideas, but did not

A Study At The Library Alone Essay
The main argument of this paper is that most people are socialized to study at a specific spot. We will
be focusing on people who come to study at the library alone. Most people become comfortable at a
specific space in the library because of a general habitus of finding a space that is considered their
own place to study at. In Becoming a firefighter, Matthew Desmond describes a general habitus as a
system of dispositions and ways about and acting in the world that is constituted early on in life
(Desmond, Ethnograhy, 391). Humans are disposed to studying in the same secluded spot because we
take ownership of the space. Charles Horton Cooley writes in The looking glass self that if we think of
a secluded part of the woods as ours , it is because we think, also that others do not go there (Cooley,
The Presentation of Self in Everday Life ,32). People often think of their usual study space as theirs.
Therefore, when entering the library, they often head straight for their space. When I was writing this
paper, it was harder for me to separate my habits from other people`s and just sticking to my
observations. I also struggled with identifying a phenomenon because many of the behaviors
displayed would be considered normal behaviors. After reading Desmond`s theory on habitism in
Becoming a firefighter, I came to the conclusion that they were normal because at Bard we are
socialized to act a certain way. I believe that the strongest aspect of my paper is how I analyze the

Why Is Chivalry Important
In today s world, there are many examples of chivalry that are not being reflected on. Respect,
bravery, and loyalty, are no longer a focus in today s culture. Many people decline to show these traits.
This starts the topic saying that chivalry is still necessary in today s society. Today, people in Western
society basically have no respect towards others. To have respect, people should never have contempt
for others. As children, people were educated to respect adults and the rules. For this reason, everyone
should always value other people s opinions. People should never stereotype others by what they say
or do. In the article, Respect has Great Importance in Everyday Life by Susie Wilson, she states,

Why The United States Can Make Any Toys With Greater...
The United States can make certain toys with greater productive efficiency than can China. Yet we
import those toys from China. However the main reason why the U.S. has become so dependent upon
China for goods is that production costs are less in China than the U.S. Reduced production costs are
so attractive to companies the benefits of low cost production are passed on to customers with lower
prices on goods the relationships U.S. companies have with China are important because of the variety
of products available from China. Adam Smith born in 1723 was a Scottish political economist and
philosopher famous by his influential book The Wealth of Nations. Smith proposed in his book that a
nation s wealth should be judged not by this metric but by the total of its production and commerce.
Smith wrote in his book that that productive labor should be made even more productive by deepening
the division of labor. Smith describes the evolution through feudalism into a stage of society requiring
new institutions, such as market determined rather than guild determined wages and free rather than
government constrained enterprise. If a foreign country can SUPPLY us with a commodity cheaper
than we ourselves can make it, better buy it of them with some part of the produce of our own
industry, employed in a way in which we have some advantage. Relationships with China have proved
profitable for some major U.S. corporations. One of the reasons that the U.S. has become so

The consumption and coverage of football in America today is the modern equivalent to how

games somewhat of a niche market. A shift in the nature and purpose of Roman gladiatorial games
occurred in 264 BC at the funeral of Roman consul Julius Brutus Pera. This fight was different
because it was put on in the public eye. The fight was pitched at a public oxen market and featured
three contests at the same time . This escalation of public appeal and increase in overall size of event
marked an important shift from private display of honor and deference to public display of spectacle
and entertainment. The practice of Roman gladiatorial games being used as public displays of wealth,
power, and status was also born at the funeral of Brutus Pera, adding display of societal standing to the
purpose of gladiatorial games. The demand for gladiatorial games rose sharply from this point
forward, so naturally, Rome had to supply more of what the people were demanding. To meet the
demand for bigger, better, and more frequent gladiatorial games, gladiator trainers or lanistaes used
multiple points of supply to find bodies to train. Most gladiators were slaves taken from conquered
lands or prisoners of war. Convicted criminals also

Ecclesiastes Wisdom
There is nothing that can stop wisdom. When you discover this power, you will become an
unstoppable threat to the kingdom of satan. Ecclesiastes Chapter nine mentions a king who entered a
small city and took total control of it, and kept the people in bondage by building snares around it. The
people lived under his communistic views and no one dared to confront him. However, in that city
there was found a poor wise man (Ecclesiastes 9:15), who was fed up and tired of abuse and tired of
living like a slave of men. He had no money, no influence, no connections with other kings, nor was
he trained to battle, yet he possessed one thing called wisdom. With his wisdom he took that city out
of the control of this king and he delivered it. The bible

Mental Illnesses Research Paper
Introduction Many people around the world struggle with mental illnesses, like depression and
anxiety. With these mental illnesses, comes a stigma. A stigma is the extreme disapproval of a person
on socially characteristic grounds that are perceived, and serve to distinguish them, from other
members of a society. Those with these disabilities are usually frowned upon, because of their
differences; people with mental illnesses are also often perceived as dangerous and insane by society.
Although there is a few who are dangerous, most of them are not, and they are no different than the
rest of us. This stigma affects not only the patient s emotion, but also makes being able to cope with
their illness much harder. The stigma gives the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mental illness is a subject slightly touched on in health classes, otherwise, it does not come up often.
Therefore, the average human does not have much knowledge on mental illnesses and how they affect
the patient s life. Doing this would lessen society s fear of those with mental illnesses and therefore,
lessen the stigma. Another solution would be to be more compassionate and caring towards those with
mental illnesses. These people are already struggling a lot, and could use the love and respect they
deserve. Also, getting those struggling professional help can lessen the chances of those with mental
illnesses from committing the crimes everyone fears they will do. If more people tried to be caring
towards these people, they would realize that those with mental illnesses are just like everyone

Difference Between Silk Road And Indian Ocean Trade
Over five hundred years ago two of the main trade network were the Silk road and the Indian Ocean
trade network. The Indian Ocean trade network moved products from east Africa to eastern Asia, and
transported products using boats. The Silk Road traders connected and move products to the east from
the west through regions of Asia. The two trade networks are similar in the way that both of their trade
routes spread religions in the process, however they differ in the dangers the traders faced while on the
trade routes. The dangers traders in the Indian ocean trade networks were piracy and the risk of
storms, on the silk road, traders faced the dangers of bandits and the spreading of plague, in the indian
ocean trade route the religions of Buddhism,

The Summation Of Stress Occurrences Essay
Stress at work typically is not felt from a single occurrence. The summation of stress occurrences lead
to stressors. Stressors are defined as an event or context that elevates levels of adrenaline forcing a
physical or mental response. There typically is a straw that broke the camels back philosophy that
builds negative stress (Bauer and Erdogan page 138). Furthermore, our world is rapidly changing. The
world becoming a global economy, rapidly changing technology, and increased competition between
business is changing roles and expectations. Negative stress is often the result of a combination of
undefined roles, rapidly changing technology, group, family, and social influences. As the global
economy, technology, and business competition increase, our roles and expectations are rapidly
changing and evolving to accommodate these needs. Many changes have been beneficial. Changes
like these also have brought unintended consequences. More than ever companies need to deliver
goods are services leaner, have competitive advantage, and cheaper. This need can blur the lines
expectations and accountabilities. This can build into unclear expectations which can grow role
ambiguity. Having unclear defined expectations leads to who is accountable for what role. This can
grow role conflict. Having unclear expectations can lead to role overload. Role overload is defined as
having not enough time and resources to fulfill a given task. For the most part, people what to

Tata Nano
History of Tata Nano
After having successfully launched the low cost Tata Ace truck in 2005, Tata Motors began
development of an affordable car that would appeal to the many Indians who drive motorcycles.[4]
The purchase price of this no frills auto was brought down by dispensing with most nonessential
features, reducing the amount of steel used in its construction, and relying on low cost Indian labor.
The introduction of the Nano received much media attention due to its low price.
The Tata Nano is a city car manufactured by Tata Motors. Made and sold in India, the Nano is the
cheapest car in the world today. Before it went on sale, a price of 1 lakh (US$1,600) was widely
touted. Since its 2009 debut, the price has increased; while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Republican Party Summary
The dangers of bothsideism in which pundits tries to equate two opposing sides of an issue has caused
havoc on the American public. Its detrimental effects has affected the livelihood of countless
Americans and since the 1970s American politics has been on a downward slope. It is no mere
coincidence that it coincides with the rise of the American right, the Republicans. Once proudly
championed as the party of Lincoln is no more as its shameless gimmicks, vindictive leaders and the
belief that the greater good of the party is greater than the nation succinctly describes current
Republicans. Their tactics succeeded but it came at a devastating cost; its end result, the undermining
public belief in the American government. Although, the general ... Show more content on

First released in 2012, the book uncovers the extremism of the Republican Party. The tandem of
Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein, experts in their respective studies are keen to issues that plagued
American politics. Mann and Ornstein are two individuals who beliefs fall on opposing sides of the
political spectrum in America. In particular, Ornstein is a resident scholar of the American Enterprise
Institute, a powerful conservative think tank and writing contributor to Roll Call, a conservative
newspaper. In the event of critics, Ornstein gives a refreshing take on the issues in contemporary
American politics. During the past several decades the Republican Party has taken a sharp right turn
without looking back. It did not help that the constant comparison of Republican actions to their
counterparts Democrats is wrong, as the latter is anything but like the former. Clearly, many, not all
were blind to the fact that Republican leaders craved the comparison because it normalizes their
reckless behavior. In fact, the coverage gave further credence in their plan and allowed for far more
egregious acts under the Republican spirit . However, the authors correctly acknowledge the issues
that are hindering the political system from reaching its maximum potential and offer solutions in the
latter portion of the book to remedy

The Music Of The World Music Essay
Authenticity through Appropriation Ethnicity is deep and innate within stars and society, therefore it
cannot be performed. Artists perform their music. While musicians do not perform their race, since it
is an inherent quality of all people, it is often, but not always, seen as inauthentic when musicians
perform outside of their race, gender, or class. This is especially true when someone from a more
privileged class performs the art of the lower class. While completely replicating a certain style of
music can often be seen as inauthentic, certain artists can easily perform outside of a genre while
taking (or stealing, based on your point of view) elements, sounds, chords, and styles from those
genres and remixing them. The artist achieves expressive authenticity , where an artist is viewed as
real and authentic without the consideration of ethnicity (Rudinow 129). One artist who successfully
does this, but not without controversy, is Paul Simon through his use of world music .
Simon was originally a part of a folk rock duo, Simon and Garfunkel, in the 60s that achieved great
success in the United States. The group, which split in 1970, mostly performed music that is generally
considered to be mainstream white American pop music. In the early 1980s, more than a decade after
his groups split, Paul Simon was in a creative slump with two unsuccessful albums (Greer 1). In order
to explore new sounds and genres Simon traveled to apartheid South Africa. There he met

Act Of Congress 1890 Essay
Two Acts of Congress in 1890
The U.S. Congress passes an act that grants a pension to all wives of veterans who served in the
American Civil War. On April 10, 1890, Friederike (Miko) Ruesse fills out an application to receive a
widow s pension. Her late husband, Johann Voss, had served during the war. Rike goes to Nashville,
the county seat of Washington County, to see an attorney. Filling out a form, she swears to the
following:
In the state of Illinois, county of Washington, on this April 10, 1890, personally appeared before me,
Friederike Ruesse. Her age is 53 years and she is a resident of Plum Hill, Washington County, Illinois.
Sworn in, she makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by acts of

Attest John Blumhorst Her mark
Schneider and Blumhorst are witnesses who are present at the signing. Because Rike cannot read or
write, they swear that the mark made in place of her signature, is hers. (L149)
*Friederike does not mention Johann s 3 month service in the army prior to his enlistment for 3 years
in the 2nd Artillery Missouri Volunteers because it is not pertinent to this application. No pension was
granted for those who signed up for a 3 month duty.
**Friederike cannot read or write. This may help to explain why many of the dates she provides are
incorrect. John Voss died in 1873, not 1872, and she and Henry Ruesse married in 1874, not 1873. Her
daughter, Elizabeth, is born in 1865, not 1868. Her son, George, is born not in 1872, but in 1871.
Nevertheless, the documentation is accepted by the United States government and she is granted a
widow s pension. For the past 18 years, Joseph Kello has lived as a wanted man living the under the
alias of Charles Lorne. On June 27, 1890, the U.S. Congress passes an act that has a profound effect
on his life. It extends forgiveness to those who deserted from the army either during the Civil War or

Why I Read My Career Goals

career. Although I am unsure as to the type of company I will eventually work for, I will be able to
implement several of the concepts I learned in the book. First of all, I will know how to go about
eliminating or reducing bottlenecks. Secondly, I will focus on the performance measurements that
matter most when working toward the goal of making money. Lastly, I will work toward building a
strong team to work with in finding solutions to system or production issues. No matter the managerial
or supervisory career path I take, I will surely face bottlenecks along the way that will affect the
overall profitability of the company. However, I now know

The Admission Fee At Disneyland Park Essay
In 1955 the admission fee to only get into the Disneyland park was only $1.00 and rides were from
10c to 75c. They also had ticket books available where you could buy admission and 8 rides for $2.50.
After three months A Day at Disneyland was introduced which included admission and 10 rides in one
set price. All the rides were categorized from A to E with the A rides being cheaper and E rides were
the more expensive and popular rides. There were different sized ticket books which varied in the
amounts that each ticket could be used. There were never enough of the D and E tickets in the books
so Disney set up Ticket Booths in each park (Fantasyland had two), where people could purchase
additional rides they needed which priced from 10c to 90c each. All the rides had to keep getting re
categorized over the years as new rides were being developed and the older rides became less popular.
In 1980 Disney raised the admission price to $10.00 USD which included admission into the parks
and 10 rides. When the Epcot park was opened the coupons would not work so on October 1, 1982 all
of the parks created a pay one price per park. This meant people had to pay to get into each park
separately. In 1982, Disney dropped the idea of individual ride tickets to a single admission price with
unlimited access to all attractions. When Walt Disney World opened in 1971, tickets to get in were
only $3.50 USD. In 1994 park hopping was created where one person could hop between the parks

Hershey is the leading manufacturer of chocolate in North America but that is not all what Hershey is all about. Considering the humble beginnings of its founder, Milton Hershey, Hershey Food Corporation s success is as sweet as the chocolates it produces and as lovely as the candies it offers its customers. But before gaining its sweet success, it had undergone business dilemma like bankruptcy. But due to good governance, it was able to turn this dilemma to strengths. Its growth in its local markets can be described to be vast. In a few years of establishment, it had large acquisitions of different companies which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... B. From Sophocles Oedipus the King, to the poetry written by Jonathan Swift, John Donne and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, multiple literary scholars have demonstrated suffering throughout the last couple centuries. Whether it may be sexual suffering as seen in the work of John Donne s His Mistress Going to Bed, and Jonathan Swifts The Lady s Dressing Room and A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, or the emotional, physical and psychological suffering in Oedipus the King, literature s greatest authors have allowed audiences to experience a character s suffering and emotions in various forms sexually, emotionally, physically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in fact, rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he did in A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and misogynistic approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of Strephon, a young man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer psychologically from what he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind, to all the charms of female kind . Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus the King but is psychologically scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that audience members are truly aware of Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for Strephon, his suffering is quite humorous. Another example, is when Jules and Vincent take Marvin s body to Jimmie s house. Jimmie s reaction is actually very surrealistic. In other words, the incident manages to rekindle the racial stereotypes that were lurking in Jimmie s subconscious. Jimmie says a swear word that can be offensive without even thinking twice about what he has said, especially in front of his African American friend, Jules. Due to such abundance of knowledge, being unaware of a society or culture is common. However, having the wrong idea of a culture or a community could potentially be a devastating problem. In fact, this is a prevalent problem as false lies about communities are easily spread out to group of people, the so called fake news problem. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is an Nigerian author who addresses this problem in her TED Talk at Oxford, England. She asserts that single stories of a place/community can create a critical misunderstanding. Moreso, the problem is more pervasive than previously thought. They are not necessarily harmful yet pervasive. For example, subtle stereotypes such as all Asians only want to be engineers and doctors or every college dropout is an utter failure. Due to such pervasiveness and consequences, open mindedness is of utmost importance in order to have a peaceful and a more understanding world or in author s terms, When we realize that there is never a single story about any place, we will regain a kind of paradise . In The danger of a single story , Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie argues that having a narrow perspective of a community, person or a nation can create a critical misunderstanding. • 16. Theme Of Death In King Lear Of the deaths in Shakespeare s King Lear, the death of Cordelia and King Lear at the end of Act V are most significant in revealing the development of Lear and how his development contributes to the theme surrounding it. The dynamic King Lear is a tragic hero whose fatal flaw, arrogance, prompts his removal from power and eventually the death of both himself and Cordelia. However, by the time of King Lear s death, his arrogance has been replaced with a compassion which allows him to mourn the death of Cordelia and die from his own grief. Besides redeeming himself for his flawed judgement, the compassionate King Lear of Act V recognizes the loyalty in characters like Kent and Cordelia, while also seeing through the dishonesty of Regan and Goneril which fools the King Lear of Act I. King Lear s transition from disowning Cordelia because of his arrogance to recognizing her as his only faithful daughter is demonstrated through Lear s death, which serves as the culmination of his development and a reversal of his character. Furthermore, his death elaborates the theme of how someone s arrogance may blind them from the reality of others intentions, which can be seen through a more compassionate and humble lens. In King Lear, Lear s conflict of power with his daughters is brought about by his own arrogance, which flaws his judgement and propels his change of heart. • 18. A Study At The Library Alone Essay The main argument of this paper is that most people are socialized to study at a specific spot. We will be focusing on people who come to study at the library alone. Most people become comfortable at a specific space in the library because of a general habitus of finding a space that is considered their own place to study at. In Becoming a firefighter, Matthew Desmond describes a general habitus as a system of dispositions and ways about and acting in the world that is constituted early on in life (Desmond, Ethnograhy, 391). Humans are disposed to studying in the same secluded spot because we take ownership of the space. Charles Horton Cooley writes in The looking glass self that if we think of a secluded part of the woods as ours , it is because we think, also that others do not go there (Cooley, The Presentation of Self in Everday Life ,32). People often think of their usual study space as theirs. Therefore, when entering the library, they often head straight for their space. When I was writing this paper, it was harder for me to separate my habits from other people`s and just sticking to my observations. I also struggled with identifying a phenomenon because many of the behaviors displayed would be considered normal behaviors. There typically is a straw that broke the camels back philosophy that builds negative stress (Bauer and Erdogan page 138). Furthermore, our world is rapidly changing. The world becoming a global economy, rapidly changing technology, and increased competition between business is changing roles and expectations. Negative stress is often the result of a combination of undefined roles, rapidly changing technology, group, family, and social influences. As the global economy, technology, and business competition increase, our roles and expectations are rapidly changing and evolving to accommodate these needs. Many changes have been beneficial. Changes like these also have brought unintended consequences. More than ever companies need to deliver goods are services leaner, have competitive advantage, and cheaper. This need can blur the lines expectations and accountabilities. This can build into unclear expectations which can grow role ambiguity. Having unclear defined expectations leads to who is accountable for what role. This can grow role conflict. Having unclear expectations can lead to role overload. • 28. The Republican Party Summary The dangers of bothsideism in which pundits tries to equate two opposing sides of an issue has caused havoc on the American public. Its detrimental effects has affected the livelihood of countless Americans and since the 1970s American politics has been on a downward slope. It is no mere coincidence that it coincides with the rise of the American right, the Republicans. Once proudly championed as the party of Lincoln is no more as its shameless gimmicks, vindictive leaders and the belief that the greater good of the party is greater than the nation succinctly describes current Republicans. Their tactics succeeded but it came at a devastating cost; its end result, the undermining public belief in the American government. Although, the general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tandem of Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein, experts in their respective studies are keen to issues that plagued American politics. Mann and Ornstein are two individuals who beliefs fall on opposing sides of the political spectrum in America. In particular, Ornstein is a resident scholar of the American Enterprise Institute, a powerful conservative think tank and writing contributor to Roll Call, a conservative newspaper. In the event of critics, Ornstein gives a refreshing take on the issues in contemporary American politics. During the past several decades the Republican Party has taken a sharp right turn without looking back. It did not help that the constant comparison of Republican actions to their counterparts Democrats is wrong, as the latter is anything but like the former. Clearly, many, not all were blind to the fact that Republican leaders craved the comparison because it normalizes their reckless behavior. In fact, the coverage gave further credence in their plan and allowed for far more egregious acts under the Republican spirit . However, the authors correctly acknowledge the issues that are hindering the political system from reaching its maximum potential and offer solutions in the latter portion of the book to remedy ... • 29. The Music Of The World Music Essay Authenticity through Appropriation Ethnicity is deep and innate within stars and society, therefore it cannot be performed. Artists perform their music. While musicians do not perform their race, since it is an inherent quality of all people, it is often, but not always, seen as inauthentic when musicians perform outside of their race, gender, or class. This is especially true when someone from a more privileged class performs the art of the lower class. While completely replicating a certain style of music can often be seen as inauthentic, certain artists can easily perform outside of a genre while taking (or stealing, based on your point of view) elements, sounds, chords, and styles from those genres and remixing them. The artist achieves expressive authenticity , where an artist is viewed as real and authentic without the consideration of ethnicity (Rudinow 129). One artist who successfully does this, but not without controversy, is Paul Simon through his use of world music . Simon was originally a part of a folk rock duo, Simon and Garfunkel, in the 60s that achieved great success in the United States. The group, which split in 1970, mostly performed music that is generally considered to be mainstream white American pop music. In the early 1980s, more than a decade after his groups split, Paul Simon was in a creative slump with two unsuccessful albums (Greer 1). In order to explore new sounds and genres Simon traveled to apartheid South Africa. There he met ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Admission Fee At Disneyland Park Essay In 1955 the admission fee to only get into the Disneyland park was only $1.00 and rides were from 10c to 75c. They also had ticket books available where you could buy admission and 8 rides for $2.50. After three months A Day at Disneyland was introduced which included admission and 10 rides in one set price. All the rides were categorized from A to E with the A rides being cheaper and E rides were the more expensive and popular rides. There were different sized ticket books which varied in the amounts that each ticket could be used. There were never enough of the D and E tickets in the books so Disney set up Ticket Booths in each park (Fantasyland had two), where people could purchase additional rides they needed which priced from 10c to 90c each. All the rides had to keep getting re categorized over the years as new rides were being developed and the older rides became less popular. In 1980 Disney raised the admission price to $10.00 USD which included admission into the parks and 10 rides. When the Epcot park was opened the coupons would not work so on October 1, 1982 all of the parks created a pay one price per park. This meant people had to pay to get into each park separately. In 1982, Disney dropped the idea of individual ride tickets to a single admission price with unlimited access to all attractions. When Walt Disney World opened in 1971, tickets to get in were only $3.50 USD. In 1994 park hopping was created where one person could hop between the parks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
