1. (a) Explain four factors to justify that your work organization or an organization you are
familiar with is an open system. 8 Marks
(b) Explain two factors which show why each of the following subsystems is important
for organizational success:
(i) Open sub-system 4 Marks
(ii) Closed sub-system 4 Marks
(c) Give two examples of each of the sub-systems mentioned in (b) above. 4 Marks

2. (a) Explain five ways in which a manager can ensure productive work teams. 10 Marks
(b) Explain five ways in which a manager can use work teams to contribute towards the
achievement of organizational goals. 10 Marks

3. (a) State any four ways in which ICT can improve the quality of customer service.
8 Marks
(b) State any three constraints that can prevent organizations from getting maximum
benefits from ICT. 6 Marks
(c) State any three remedies to minimize the constraints stated in (b), above. 6 Marks

4. (a) Explain four ways in which a business organization can benefit from Research and
Development. 8 Marks
(b) State any three constraints associated with Research and Development. 6 Marks
(c) Mention three ways in which the constraints mentioned in (b), above, may be

5. You are promoted to the position of Accountant in your organization. The Chief Accountant
has asked you to list down the main steps of the following procedures for inclusion in the
organization’s handbook:

department of Chitukuko Networks (CN), a network service provider, wishes to carry out an
appropriate campaign.
(a) With the aid of a diagram, identify and explain the stage at which the Chitukuko
cellphones are in the Product Life Cycle. 10 Marks
(b) Develop five marketing strategies that a marketing manager for CN could use to
boost the sales of the Chitukuko cellphones. 10 Marks
