Centre Name and Number:
York College 48357
Student Name and Number:
Samuel Nixon 348243
Project proposal title and date:
The Globe
Main area of activity:
I will mostly be working with graphic design but will partly use Photography as well.
Rationale:
Over the course of this year I have made many products that have taught me new skills while
doing so and that will affect the outcome of my product. For example, while making my past
magazine product I discovered not to use certain colours together such as red and green because
of how it could make my product harder to read for my colour-blind audience as well as teaching
me new skills such as how to tilt shapes and text to make them seem more 3D and just make my
work even more creative and different which I will also be using in this product to alter shapes to
help add to the modern theme I want. My similar production was my magazine about indie music,
this past product will have a direct impact on my project because its taught me what works well
together and what doesn’t e.g. certain colours and styles.
Project Concept:
My project is a mix between a travel magazine and a sort of personal blog because I will be
advertising locations to go to in the UK, saying what you can do there and why you should go but I
will also have articles where I will be reviewing locations in the UK and abroad with my own
personal opinion talking about the culture, what I like and dislike there as well as talking to people
who live in those locations to find out what they think. I will need to research what you can do at
the certain locations I’m talking about; go to the locations and talk to the public there to get the
quotes and their personal opinions for the articles in my magazine where I talk about this, find out
what time the sun sets in certain locations that I’m going to so I can get the right type of
photographs that I want for my magazine and so that my photographs look more visually appealing
and also research which locations I actually want to visit and talk about. This will help make my
project because it will allow me to know what I’m going to talk about, it will help my time
management because I will know when I need to go to these locations to get the most appealing
photographs I can and it will overall make my project of higher quality in the end and better suited
for my target audience.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I will evaluate my work by writing on my blog what I did, how I did it, why I did it and what I think I
could improve on. Once I finish my project I will look over my production reflection from each week
and talk about them in more detail in my final evaluation. This will help me in my media career
because it will teach me how to look at my work from a different angle and see how I could
improve it to make it into the best version of itself that it can be.

Week Tasks to be Completed: Specific Tasks
1 Initial Ideas and Proposal Place my skills audit and Pre-proposal onto my
initial ideas, then complete the mood board and
analyse it in detail. Once this is complete I will
talk about my influences for making this product
and how they will affect my final product. After
this I will move onto the proposal and discuss
roughly what I plan to do for my product while
also talking about what skills I have learnt from
past projects which could help the creation of this
one as well as how this project could possibly
help my media carrier. Leading on to then looking
at sources of information that will help the
creation of my product and writing these sources
down into my bibliography.
2 Research Will look at existing products similar to the one I
want to produce and talk about how It has been
designed, created and why and discussing what I
might do in the creation of mine which they have
in theirs. Then I will move on to doing my
secondary audience research where I will talk
about what secondary audience research I might
do and looking at existing products that are
similar to what I want to make and analysing their
audience and how my product might appeal to
this audience. Near to the end of this week I will
make a start on my primary research which is
where I will write down all the information that I
get from my interviews and Questionnaires.
3 Research At the start of this week I will have finished my
primary audience research and move onto my
subject research where I will be collecting
background information on the subjects that I will
be talking about throughout my magazine, every
time I use a source I will log it into my
bibliography first and then write something about
them. Then half way through the week I will start
and complete my practical research, for this I will
make a similar but un-related product where I can
test my techniques on Photoshop and as well as
my photography skills for when I need to get
photographs in the future.
4 Pre-production & Planning On the 4th week I will start my pre-production
where I will be going through my final
development and organise my product before I
start production. I will do this by organising my
risk assessment, equipment/resource list,
locations for where I am taking my shot, potential
issues I might face as well as the solution to
them, health and safety, my production schedule
