Digital Classroom Plan Analysis
The Volusia County School District adopted in December 2015, it's Digital Classroom Plan. This plan was created to support the instructional shifts
required by Florida Standards through the use of digital tools and technologies. The plan also supports the Digital Learning Now Act (July 1, 2011),
which requires school districts to offer virtual instruction and requires online learning as a requirement for high school graduation. The plan also
included professional development and curriculum resources for teachers for digital instructional materials aligned to Florida Standards, online
assessments and other technology tools (Volusia County Schools, 2015).
Currently the district has the Virtual Online, a charter school, which uses Moodle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To help with the implementation of training, two new positions will be created at the district level: Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource
Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator position's salary would be $69,000 for 12–month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000 for
10–month position. These positions would oversee training during professional development and troubleshooting issues with Canvas and other digital
tools being used by the district. These costs would be similar to the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which will be
eliminated after Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through a grant through the State of Florida for implementing a
"Digital Classroom Plan" and would not be added to the district's current budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and tracked
by the Director of Technology Services.
This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District. Currently, the district is using the free access to look at
the features of Canvas. Extant data was used from the Digital Learning Plan to create this proposal. Canvas will eliminate the problem of training for
multiple software and allow accessibility through mobile devices. The cost figures are based on information collected

Advantages And Disadvantages Of E-Learning Management System
Abstract – E–learning provides the opportunity for student to interact electronically with each other as well as with their teachers. This interaction can
be via e–mail or on discussion board or in chat rooms. This paper summary discuss about e–learning , its types and its benefits. Learning Management
System is the method of making platforms to implement e–learning, different LMS are also compared. In this paper, two types of open source soft
wares are also compared– Moodle and dokeos. Moodle has the largest amount of a feature but is confusing for a beginner where as dokeos is very
attractive and user friendly but has no much features.

learning process. An LMS is the infrastructure that delivers and manages instructional content, identifies and assesses individual and organizational
learning or training goals, tracks the progress towards meeting those goals, and collects and presents data for supervising the learning process of the
organization as a whole.[7] There different learning management systems

E Learning : Web Based Learning And Separation Learning
E–learning, Web–based learning and separation learning are generally utilized as tradable terms.
In any case, these terms speak to ideas with unobtrusive, yet important contrasts. In this essay, we uncover the distinctions, survey the implications of
these terms, and propose definitions. Knowledge of e–Learning has largely developed from the experiences of learners and teachers in education using
interactive Internet technologies to create online learning environments that support learning communities.
E–learning is basically connected with exercises including machines and intuitive systems all the while. The machine does not have to be the focal
component of the action or give learning substance. Then again, the machine and the system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Is Computerized System Learning?
What is computerized system learning? Computerized learning is essentially the usage of a computer based learning assistance program for education.
Prior to the onset of technology in the classroom and in higher education, the learning in the classroom started with someone writing on a chalkboard
and then posing a question or making a statement, also known as the chalk and talk method. That was the norm. Today that has changed. Technology
and Computerized Systems learning has made learning on the university level more convenient and accessible then ever. To begin let's start when
"technology" was first getting integrated into the classroom setting. In 1890 the latest and greatest technology was the chalkboard. In 1920s the
invention and fascination of the Radio led to an never before used type of learning on– air classes a precursor what we use today with online learning.
By the early 1970s a modern day classroom staple – the Scantron was making its way into schools across America. And finally the computer, which
was introduced to classroom in the mid 80s with laptop by Toshiba and Apple's PowerBook. By 1993 daily computer usage was reaching a level close
to what we see today when the PDA was launched on society by Apple computers. Furthermore until the launch on what became known as Plato in the
mid 1970s education had been influenced by Technology but had yet to computerize technology become an integral part of the educational system. Up

Galen And The Galen 's Life
It is our hope that this correspondence finds you in pleasant circumstances. It is with great trepidation and frustration that the cohorts of the
Dangriga Galen center have found the need to write this letter. After the end of our first year in the Galen Bachelor 's in Education program we
find that there are circumstances and situations that have persisted to the disadvantage of the cohorts and have failed to be addressed by the
administration of Galen and its staff. Galen recruited us under the guise of "excellence" and with every course we are reminded that it is
"excellence" that is also demanded of us. It is with this in mind, that we hope to effectively articulate our concerns and find prompt resolution in order
to ensure that we all draw closer to this "excellence". The following are the pressing and urgent matters that we feel must be addressed not only for the
betterment of our center cohorts, but for all the cohorts that have entrusted Galen with their valuable time, hard earned money, and academic careers.
1.) Galen is a business. We pay money to receive a service––a service we were led to believe was cutting edge, progressive and of unparalleled caliber.
It is not a small sacrifice we have made to be a part of this program and we find that as "customers" of Galen, the business transactions of the institution
have fallen short of expectation. We do not receive regular bills or statements from Galen administration that reflect what we owe and this has caused

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mobile Learning
With the use of technology, teaching and learning took a big leap and is changing its paradigms, from a closed model, and teacher–centered classroom
to a model more open and student–centered, where the teacher moves from one holder of knowledge for a learning mentor, able to manage diverse
discourses and practices as well as stimulate the intellectual capacities of students in the treatment of information available. In network there is much
valuable information, but there are also many errors and controversies instead of teaching may confuse the students. So, they generally have access to
information, but do not always know to do with it. Nowadays, several tools can promote knowledge and learning, many practices were improved, such

Mobile technology is changing the way we live and it is beginning to change the way we learn. Mobile Learning (m–learning) is a revolution in
e–Learning. Mobile learning involves the use of mobile technology, either alone or in combination with other information and communication
technology (ICT), to enable learning anytime and anywhere. Learning can expand in different ways – people can use mobile devices to access
educational article, connect with friends and others, both inside and outside classrooms. Mobile learning also encompasses efforts to support broad
educational goals such as the effective administration of higher education systems and improved communication between schools and families.
M–Learning is convenient in that it is accessible from virtually anywhere. Sharing is almost instantaneous among everyone using the same content,
which leads to the reception of instant feedback and tips. This highly active process has proven to increase examination scores from the fiftieth to the
seventieth percentile, and cut the dropout rate in technical fields by 22% (Saylor, Michael –2012).[1] M–learning also brings strong portability by
replacing books and notes with small devices, filled with tailored learning

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Personal Study Plan
This presentation will discuss key factors that impact planning personal study, such as strengths and weaknesses. Also, this presentation will
include how to access and locate resources in the Learning Centre. Work commitments can make it difficult to put an effective personal study plan
in place this is because I work as an Auxiliary Nurse and I am required to work shifts. I have no standard shift pattern and what I have to work
varies on a weekly basis, this means that can cannot allocate certain days or time for personal study as I may be working or travelling. Attendance
may also have an impact on my ability to study this is because at my work place there is no flexible working policy available. As well as this my
ward manager is unsupportive in allowing time off for attending the college based study or changing shifts where needed. One factors that may
have a negative effect on implementing an effective study plan is finding time to seeing my family, friends and boyfriend. I usually help look after
my younger brother who has Asperger's once a week, so that my mam can get her planning for work and shopping done more easily. I have chronic
pain issues with my back and neck this can make it difficult to concentrate due to high dosage painkillers also, this means that I am unable to sit and
study for long periods of time without increased pain. This might affect my ability to study as I need to take regular breaks and can interrupt my 'flow'

The Implementation And Adoption Of An Lms
This literature review consists of two primary areas relating to the successful implementation and adoption of an LMS. The purpose is to offer
historical and theoretical support in the form of previous works which may help to build context around similar studies, and provide insight into
answering the aforementioned research questions. The first section reports existing historical knowledge and current research on the LMS, including
implementation, evaluation, and management, with examples of some innovative models which have emerged around the country. The second section
covers Everett Rogers' theory of Diffusion of Innovations (Rogers, 1995, 2003b, 2003a), including the perceived attributes for the adoption of
innovations within large organizations. It will include the implementation of new technology, and how leadership decisions and communication play a
role in the adoption process. Together, these sections provide a deeper understanding of crucial elements needed for an implementation framework, and
underlying information for the research questions being explored. .

Distance Learning and Black Board Essay
Distance Learning and Black Board
Distance learning is when students take courses by using some form of communication other than face to face communication with an instructor. This
type of learning has been used since as far back as the 1800's when adults would learn handwriting by ordering lessons through the mail (Cosgrove
2002). The technology for distance learning has been progressing for some time now. Iowa State University started to offer courses through television
in 1934 (Cosgrove 2002). These days we use the Internet for distance learning. Distance learning has recently become more popular and more

make teaching a lot easier (Blackboard Solutions p.1). With Blackboard a professor can post announcements, send e–mails, post class discussions on
the discussion board, post online quizzes, make the syllabus available online and much more. When a professor puts all these things on the
Blackboard site it becomes available for the whole class to see. A professor can even post an individual's grade to the site so that only the
individual can see their grade or send an email to an individual. Other things a professor can regulate is the appearance of their course site, and
whether or not an area of Blackboard is used. This allows the professor to make there job fun and easy but still be doing there job to the best of their
abilities and making the best of their resources.

I Am You: The Misrecognized Post-Structuralist Subject
Jacques Lacan and Louis Althusser, post–structuralist philosophers and intellectual theorists, have expanded the confines of the human subject
(Pauker). Addressing it from opposite academic disciplines they deal with many similar topics however expressed in different ways. As each
independently discusses the self awareness of the human subject, many ties can be formed between these two theorists, both arguing that a subject is
misrecognized and constructed differently to the traditional Cartesian Subject. Beginning with Lacan's "The Mirror Stage," he uses psychoanalysis to
develop a new understanding of the intellectual development in babies, as he explains that when a child from six to eighteen months views itself in a
mirror there is a "...transformation that takes place in the subject when he [sic] assumes an image" (Lacan 72). This transformation is the
acknowledgement of the baby as a whole, instead of a "fragmented body," here the baby sees itself apart from its mother and begins to view the world
around them as an individual (Lacan 74). In Althusser's "Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses," human subjectivity is formed through social
interaction. Althusser uses the example of a policeman hailing an individual by saying, "Hey you there!" this recognition by the individual
"...'transforms' the individuals into subjects... by that very precise operation which I have called interpellation" (Althusser 55). It is evident through
these broad summaries of Lacan's and

The module was delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars, tutorials videos, discussions, observations and the VLE 'Moodle'. The approach to
the teaching and learning methods employed was that of active learning, catering to different learning styles. An awareness of different learning styles
can help teachers to sustain motivation by encouraging and facilitating pupils' use of preferred styles but also providing support when using alternative
approaches (Highland Council Education, 2010; Honey and Mumford, 1986, cited in McGill and Beaty, 1995). Active participation by the student group
was encouraged throughout by myself, as their tutor.
One example of the different methods of teaching and learning used on the module involves discussion of observations made in the workplace in
week 2 (Appendix 1). Incorporating the use of observation of children by the learners recognises that this is one of the most important aspects of
day–to–day professional practice when working with children in early years (Hall, 2005), and therefore also has a motivating effect on the learners.

Online Classes Vs. Traditional Classes Essay
Technology is changing every aspect in our lives, even the way we learn. Online classes are a rapidly growing trend it today's society. Online classes
are a cost–effective substitute for traditional courses and more convenient for many, so more schools and universities are offering this option. Due to
the increase in online course enrollment, people are questioning if students truly learn something from online classes because it's not a traditional
learning environment. Online classes are just, if not more, effective as traditional classes because grades have increased and online discussions
provide students with the chance to interact through networking while earning a degree for less than what it would cost to enroll at the same
university. Technology is evolving and now offers people opportunities that weren 't possible before. One new opportunity that technology has to offer
is online classes. Online courses are courses that are offered strictly over the internet. With online classes, assignments and lectures are communicated
through an online website. Face to face (f2f) classes, also called, traditional classes are classes that take place in a classroom with a teacher interacting
with his students. Dr. Steven Stack, a science research author and professor, states that the number of students enrolled in at least one online course
increased from 1,602,970 in 2002 to 6,714,792 in 2011. With an increasing number of students enrolling in online courses, more colleges are

of critical thinking in academic environments and how those environments have changed over the years due to the prevalence of computers and

Around seven months ago, several of my classmates and I walked into our high school's computer lab and logged onto Northwestern State University's

The other courses had all of the work assigned from the beginning, and the teachers never posted anything in their "News" forums. Another concern
with communication is that some teachers do not even answer students' questions. Several of my classmates have stories of asking a teacher through
email and the messaging system on Moodle about a grade or an assignment and never getting so much as a confirmation that the teacher ever even
read the messages. I have personally messaged a professor on Moodle after receiving confusing results on an essay before and received this lack of
response. This suggests that these teachers have apathy for their dual–enrollment students. This feeling does not do much to motivate students. The
problem is rather straightforward, so the solution is as well. The only real way to fix this issue is for dual–enrollment professor's to become more
involved in their students' education. These teachers could post news or announcements around once a week like other teachers already do. They
could give attention to students' concerns and give informative and timely responses. The second problem to address is retention of the information
we are given. I have observed that my classmates find it hard to retain the knowledge we receive from these courses. A large part of this is actually the
student's fault for not studying the information. They do not study, however, because they find the courses to be boring. I noticed this mostly in our

As a middle school teacher you must be prepared to articulate your viewpoint on issues relative to education, young adolescent development, middle
school structure and organization, curriculum, instruction, and assessment, classroom management, family and community involvement, and
leadership and organizations. It is sometimes important that teachers within a team, subject area, grade division, or school building come to a consensus
of thought and practice for the sake of providing the best, enriched educational environment for the success of students
As the course develops, you will be reflecting on the topics presented in the This We Believe: Keys to Educating Young Adolescents textbook. Student
reflections should include elaboration on your understanding of the topic, suggestions for applying the concept in middle school environment, and/or
discussion of foreseen issues or problems if concepts are implemented in your classroom or school. Discussion questions are designed to prompt your

Course Management : Personal Reflection
Moodle Course Management System– Personal Reflection Part 1: My Contributions to the Project The purpose of the project was to build a Course
Management System to help teachers design courses online, manage the activities in the course and effectively communicate with students in their
class and collaborate with them in the course. I performed the role of a business analyst. As a business analyst, I had to understand the process of
course management, how it has been handled till date in the college and documenting these processes in detail for the rest of the project team to
understand. I was nervous in the beginning, as his only knowledge on business analysis was what was learnt through classroom learning. With no
practical experience, I started analysing the processes and documenting them. I could find that the principles learnt in class were clear and applicable
to actual case and I found that I could tell the processes and how to understand them quickly as experience was gained in this role. To understand the
client business, in this case, the course management systems in college, I used the Models during this course in the form of feature model, use case
model, data flow diagram model and user interface model. These models were used to understand the expected requirements of the course management
system. The proposal for the project was submitted to instructor for the development of the course management system. When this proposal was

Case Study: Using the Balanced Scorecard to Move from "Management by Experts" to Managing for Results through Data–driven Decisions By John
McGillicuddy, Mecklenburg County General Manager Abstract Today's heightened emphasis on accountability requires a new model of managing
publicly funded resources. No longer can local government rely on department directors making subjective decisions as the resident expert in their
field. Implementing a balanced scorecard provides a comprehensive and consistent approach to managing for results using data–driven decisions
aligned with the organization's mission, vision, goals, and strategies. In 2001, Mecklenburg County began its journey with a long–term vision of the
community in 2015. Seven years... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In retrospect, it was clear that cutting these vital positions simply because they were vacant was a poor strategy for reducing costs. It also should be
noted that Mecklenburg County is a highly political environment, with the political majority of the board of county commissioners open to change in
virtually every two–year election. Changes in the elected majority are often accompanied by swings in political priorities, resulting in changes in
funding for services. However, prior to 2001, there was no consistent model used for making decisions based on priorities. This resulted in a very
unstable and non–sustainable approach to achieving desired results. Essentially, the community and County staff seemed to be experienced
alternating between two diametrically opposed views. On one hand was the view that county government could be all things to all people; the other
philosophy was that there is never a good reason to raise taxes. With this backdrop, County Manager Harry Jones, appointed by the Board in
October 2000, sought to develop a model and structure for decision making that could be sustained regardless of economic conditions or political
ideology. I. Starting with Vision There's an old adage that if you don't know where you are going, any road will do. Said differently, the first step in
an important journey is deciding where you want to end up. As it relates to Mecklenburg County's M4R journey, where it wanted to end up was

Foster Care In Public Schools: A Case Study
A child in foster care is defined as any child who has been removed from the custody of their parent(s)/guardian(s) by the juvenile court and placed in a
group home or foster home. The child is under the direct supervision of a county probation officer or social worker. This is a partial definition

introduces proposals to positively impact education outcomes for students in foster care. First and foremost, the foster care, welfare, and education

however, we rarely have the resources available to truly meet the social emotional needs of our foster youth. As a principal, I would promote

NSA Surveillance
NSA Surveillance: Is safety worth losing freedom?
Recently there is debate about if it is okay for the United States government to spy on citizens using NSA and FBI. This became common knowledge
when Edward Snowden leaked millions of documents that show the government is spying on the public. The United States government should not keep
the NSA surveillance going because it hurts the public more than it keeps the public safe.
On the pro side there are many people that believe if you are a good person and do nothing bad then government can get your information. (Debate

The United States government should not keep the NSA surveillance going because it hurts the public more than it keeps the public safe. I learned that
there are many things that both side can say about this issue but it is better to have more freedom and be in some danger. Based on the information the

On Education and Education Technology Essay
eLearning software is a collection of web–based software that allows students to view information related to their coursework and submit assignments
to their professors. Some of this online education software also allows for additional collaboration and learning tools. eLearning software is becoming
increasingly important, and is nearly essential for modern education in the digital age. However, this technology is largely unrefined and as such, has
problems; problems that can be overcome.
Since the popularity and ubiquity of the internet, eLearning software has become relatively commonplace in the education world. An eLearning

Each has significantly different user interfaces and feature sets, as well as strengths and weaknesses. No software is perfect, but some are clearly
better than others. eCollege is one such service. Provided by Pearson, eCollege provides a platform that is easy to manage and navigate, though
perhaps not very feature–rich. eCollege offers a place for professors to manage their individual classes' resources, providing a grade book, testing, a
breakdown of section information, threaded discussion, and some document sharing ability. eCollege is somewhat lacking in the areas of speed,
browser compatibility, and communication function.
For example, eCollege lacks any sort of notification system, so that any announcements from the professor, replies to threaded discussions, or
approaching deadlines are in no way reported to the students or faculty. This is a very common feature not just in other eLearning technologies, but
for web technologies in general. eCollege also is considerably far behind its competition in terms of pleasing user interface. The design paradigms
are reminiscent of the web as of 1998, and the fonts are by default set to be far too small to be readable on high–resolution screens. Lastly, eCollege has
nothing in the way of student collaboration, requiring external services or solutions to be used for group activities.
Its competition, Blackboard, is probably the largest and most

The Importance Of Online Education
The year 2014 I majored in Information Technology and received my first Online Education class. Privacy, space, and concentration are what Online
Education provided. Online Education has granted me a greater learning experience than being taught by the few lazy teachers in the past. Teachers
online provide links, videos, and handout–guides for every assignment, anything needed to complete and learn the materials. Not only has Online
Education granted me a higher learning experience, but also saved me an immense amount of money on gas and having the need to drive daily to class
and paying for parking. Many students struggle financially, and online education has saved me a fortune. It is important to know that Online Education
has affected us students in a positive way where we have the alternative to meet an Education without the need to drive daily to campus. Each year
institutions' of higher education has offered more courses that are fully online as well as more that are blended or hybrid in design format (Hoskins
and van Hooff, 2005). Colleges and universities are placing greater emphasis on increasing online education offerings (Allen and Seaman, 2005).
Online Education is important to have in society, considering that technology revolves around us as a nation and is going under drastic changes every
year and becoming more advanced and in which anyone can benefit in many ways. As of 2014, at least 25% of the student population at American
universities and colleges had

Relationship Between Students And Academic Performance Of...
INTRODUCTION
The primary goal of the current research study was to investigate the relationship between students' participation in an online discussion forum and
students' overall academic performance in a hybrid–format graduate–level science course. More specifically, our primary research question was: Does
students' participation in an online discussion forum integrated into an open–source course management system improve students' academic
performance in a hybrid–format graduate–level science course? In addition, our secondary research question was: How consistently can the results of
the current investigation be extrapolated to academic courses in other disciplines (i.e. arts, humanities, law) and to academic courses at other academic
levels (i.e. undergraduate, high school, middle school)? To the best of our knowledge, the aforementioned are academically significant and, thus far
unanswered, research questions because previous research studies have yielded equivocal and, often contradictory, results regarding this subject. To be
specific, in their 2005 research article published in the British Journal of Educational Technology, Davies and Graff investigated the relationship
between frequency of participation in an online discussion forum and academic performance, quantified via final grades, of a sample of 122
undergraduate students at the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. In conclusion, these researchers reported that underachieving students, the

Clark and Feldon (2005) concluded that a facilitator who participates and interacts with students prevents them from abandoning their course. Better
cognitive outcomes occur when students engage and form a virtual community of learners. The development of a community depends on online
interaction with their peers and the facilitator. Learner satisfaction, perseverance, and cognitive outcomes characterize the formation of a virtual
learning community. Some contest participation as a prerequisite to learning, claiming students learn sufficiently by observation (Beaudoin, 2002;
Sutton, 2001), and lobby for leniency towards lurking or read–only participation. This article responds to Beaudoin's (2002) article ''Learning or
lurking? Tracking the 'invisible' online student.'' He reasoned that students sometimes engage and learn even when not taking part in online discussions
with faculty and other students and showed that low profile students: spend a significant amount of time in learning–related tasks, including logging
on, even when not visibly participating, and they feel they are still learning and benefiting from this low–profile approach to their online studies. (p.
147) We investigated the importance of student online ''visibility'' apparent in the quantity and quality of participation. We explored as a case study the
successful completion of a postgraduate online course by asking the following research questions. (1) How did online

With the continuous reform of college EnglishпјЊthe computer –aided teaching mode is rising quietly and pervasively in China. Educators strongly
hold that it is greatly important and necessary to apply multimedia in college English teaching. In the new era, with the rapid development of science

Course Objectives: Valuation will be discussed as a unifying theme in this course. This includes such issues as how to value a firm that is not
publicly traded, how to value a potential merger, how to value an investment project. We will examine the use of debt in a firm's financial structure
and ask if that has an impact on the value of the firm. If a firm pays dividends, does that increase the firm's value?
The key objective of this course is to build on the foundation of your introductory course in financial concepts and to apply more advanced concepts in
corporate finance in a decision making context. Since computer literacy is essential to the application of finance theory, the course will incorporate a
number of opportunities for the use of computer tools in a problem solving environment.
After you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to:
Apply value based management to guide valuation of a firm and valuation of a capital budget project.
Be aware of the underlying factors that impact the value of a financial option.
Understand the basic features of options contracts and how they are priced.
Have an understanding of the use and misuse of derivatives.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
While teacher training instruction has long led movements in higher education toward more "active learning" (student engagement in the classroom
coupled with language teaching practicums), blended learning, with a mix of on–line and in–person learning opportunities, is not yet in widespread
use. Increasingly, publishers of textbooks provide on–line resources, both audio and video, but faculty members need time to explore how to use these
resources more effectively.

  • 1. Digital Classroom Plan Analysis The Volusia County School District adopted in December 2015, it's Digital Classroom Plan. This plan was created to support the instructional shifts required by Florida Standards through the use of digital tools and technologies. The plan also supports the Digital Learning Now Act (July 1, 2011), which requires school districts to offer virtual instruction and requires online learning as a requirement for high school graduation. The plan also included professional development and curriculum resources for teachers for digital instructional materials aligned to Florida Standards, online assessments and other technology tools (Volusia County Schools, 2015). To help with the implementation of training, two new positions will be created at the district level: Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator position's salary would be $69,000 for 12–month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000 for 10–month position. These positions would oversee training during professional development and troubleshooting issues with Canvas and other digital tools being used by the district. These costs would be similar to the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which will be eliminated after Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through a grant through the State of Florida for implementing a "Digital Classroom Plan" and would not be added to the district's current budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and tracked by the Director of Technology Services. This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District. Currently, the district is using the free access to look at the features of Canvas. Extant data was used from the Digital Learning Plan to create this proposal. Canvas will eliminate the problem of training for multiple software and allow accessibility through mobile devices. The cost figures are based on information collected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. What Is Computerized System Learning? What is computerized system learning? Computerized learning is essentially the usage of a computer based learning assistance program for education. Prior to the onset of technology in the classroom and in higher education, the learning in the classroom started with someone writing on a chalkboard and then posing a question or making a statement, also known as the chalk and talk method. That was the norm. Today that has changed. Technology and Computerized Systems learning has made learning on the university level more convenient and accessible then ever. To begin let's start when "technology" was first getting integrated into the classroom setting. In 1890 the latest and greatest technology was the chalkboard. In 1920s the invention and fascination of the Radio led to an never before used type of learning on– air classes a precursor what we use today with online learning. By the early 1970s a modern day classroom staple – the Scantron was making its way into schools across America. And finally the computer, which was introduced to classroom in the mid 80s with laptop by Toshiba and Apple's PowerBook. By 1993 daily computer usage was reaching a level close to what we see today when the PDA was launched on society by Apple computers. • 5. Galen And The Galen 's Life It is our hope that this correspondence finds you in pleasant circumstances. It is with great trepidation and frustration that the cohorts of the Dangriga Galen center have found the need to write this letter. After the end of our first year in the Galen Bachelor 's in Education program we find that there are circumstances and situations that have persisted to the disadvantage of the cohorts and have failed to be addressed by the administration of Galen and its staff. Galen recruited us under the guise of "excellence" and with every course we are reminded that it is "excellence" that is also demanded of us. It is with this in mind, that we hope to effectively articulate our concerns and find prompt resolution in order to ensure that we all draw closer to this "excellence". The following are the pressing and urgent matters that we feel must be addressed not only for the betterment of our center cohorts, but for all the cohorts that have entrusted Galen with their valuable time, hard earned money, and academic careers. 1.) Galen is a business. We pay money to receive a service––a service we were led to believe was cutting edge, progressive and of unparalleled caliber. It is not a small sacrifice we have made to be a part of this program and we find that as "customers" of Galen, the business transactions of the institution have fallen short of expectation. We do not receive regular bills or statements from Galen administration that reflect what we owe and this has caused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Personal Study Plan This presentation will discuss key factors that impact planning personal study, such as strengths and weaknesses. Also, this presentation will include how to access and locate resources in the Learning Centre. Work commitments can make it difficult to put an effective personal study plan in place this is because I work as an Auxiliary Nurse and I am required to work shifts. I have no standard shift pattern and what I have to work varies on a weekly basis, this means that can cannot allocate certain days or time for personal study as I may be working or travelling. Attendance may also have an impact on my ability to study this is because at my work place there is no flexible working policy available. As well as this my ward manager is unsupportive in allowing time off for attending the college based study or changing shifts where needed. One factors that may have a negative effect on implementing an effective study plan is finding time to seeing my family, friends and boyfriend. I usually help look after my younger brother who has Asperger's once a week, so that my mam can get her planning for work and shopping done more easily. I have chronic pain issues with my back and neck this can make it difficult to concentrate due to high dosage painkillers also, this means that I am unable to sit and study for long periods of time without increased pain. This might affect my ability to study as I need to take regular breaks and can interrupt my 'flow' when writing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of poor communication in online classes. There will be students who will never email the instructors for more details about an assignments, or, there will be older students who don't know how to email the instructors for more details. If the student doesn't understand an assignment, and never emails to ask for more details, can result in a poor grade for the lack of knowledge in knowing what they're doing. There's one final drawback to not having social interactions with instructors; Students can potentially miss out on building relationships that can result in helpful guidance and recommendation letters down the road when needed. Students who are prone to procrastination will have a difficult time adjusting to online classes. Hours of work are necessary to get through all of the materials, including course lectures, educational videos, assignments, projects, assigned textbook reading and discussions. For students who are getting an online degree, especially an online master's degree, require a greater amount of work. The positive of online classes is being able to access the class in any free time. Most online classes though, require work to be turned in on certain days and times. Which makes it harder for students to remember when assignments need to be done. The pleasure of the instructor reading /lecturing the textbook material out loud won't be there. It ... • 14. I Am You: The Misrecognized Post-Structuralist Subject Jacques Lacan and Louis Althusser, post–structuralist philosophers and intellectual theorists, have expanded the confines of the human subject (Pauker). Addressing it from opposite academic disciplines they deal with many similar topics however expressed in different ways. As each independently discusses the self awareness of the human subject, many ties can be formed between these two theorists, both arguing that a subject is misrecognized and constructed differently to the traditional Cartesian Subject. Beginning with Lacan's "The Mirror Stage," he uses psychoanalysis to develop a new understanding of the intellectual development in babies, as he explains that when a child from six to eighteen months views itself in a mirror there is a "...transformation that takes place in the subject when he [sic] assumes an image" (Lacan 72). This transformation is the acknowledgement of the baby as a whole, instead of a "fragmented body," here the baby sees itself apart from its mother and begins to view the world around them as an individual (Lacan 74). In Althusser's "Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses," human subjectivity is formed through social interaction. Althusser uses the example of a policeman hailing an individual by saying, "Hey you there!" this recognition by the individual "...'transforms' the individuals into subjects... by that very precise operation which I have called interpellation" (Althusser 55). Online classes are a cost–effective substitute for traditional courses and more convenient for many, so more schools and universities are offering this option. Due to the increase in online course enrollment, people are questioning if students truly learn something from online classes because it's not a traditional learning environment. Online classes are just, if not more, effective as traditional classes because grades have increased and online discussions provide students with the chance to interact through networking while earning a degree for less than what it would cost to enroll at the same university. Technology is evolving and now offers people opportunities that weren 't possible before. One new opportunity that technology has to offer is online classes. Several of my classmates have stories of asking a teacher through email and the messaging system on Moodle about a grade or an assignment and never getting so much as a confirmation that the teacher ever even read the messages. I have personally messaged a professor on Moodle after receiving confusing results on an essay before and received this lack of response. This suggests that these teachers have apathy for their dual–enrollment students. This feeling does not do much to motivate students. The problem is rather straightforward, so the solution is as well. The only real way to fix this issue is for dual–enrollment professor's to become more involved in their students' education. These teachers could post news or announcements around once a week like other teachers already do. They could give attention to students' concerns and give informative and timely responses. The second problem to address is retention of the information we are given. I have observed that my classmates find it hard to retain the knowledge we receive from these courses. In retrospect, it was clear that cutting these vital positions simply because they were vacant was a poor strategy for reducing costs. It also should be noted that Mecklenburg County is a highly political environment, with the political majority of the board of county commissioners open to change in virtually every two–year election. Changes in the elected majority are often accompanied by swings in political priorities, resulting in changes in funding for services. However, prior to 2001, there was no consistent model used for making decisions based on priorities. This resulted in a very unstable and non–sustainable approach to achieving desired results. Essentially, the community and County staff seemed to be experienced alternating between two diametrically opposed views. On one hand was the view that county government could be all things to all people; the other philosophy was that there is never a good reason to raise taxes. With this backdrop, County Manager Harry Jones, appointed by the Board in October 2000, sought to develop a model and structure for decision making that could be sustained regardless of economic conditions or political ideology. • 32. The Importance Of Online Education The year 2014 I majored in Information Technology and received my first Online Education class. Privacy, space, and concentration are what Online Education provided. Online Education has granted me a greater learning experience than being taught by the few lazy teachers in the past. Teachers online provide links, videos, and handout–guides for every assignment, anything needed to complete and learn the materials. Not only has Online Education granted me a higher learning experience, but also saved me an immense amount of money on gas and having the need to drive daily to class and paying for parking. Many students struggle financially, and online education has saved me a fortune. It is important to know that Online Education has affected us students in a positive way where we have the alternative to meet an Education without the need to drive daily to campus. Each year institutions' of higher education has offered more courses that are fully online as well as more that are blended or hybrid in design format (Hoskins and van Hooff, 2005). Colleges and universities are placing greater emphasis on increasing online education offerings (Allen and Seaman, 2005). Online Education is important to have in society, considering that technology revolves around us as a nation and is going under drastic changes every year and becoming more advanced and in which anyone can benefit in many ways. As of 2014, at least 25% of the student population at American universities and colleges had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Relationship Between Students And Academic Performance Of... INTRODUCTION The primary goal of the current research study was to investigate the relationship between students' participation in an online discussion forum and students' overall academic performance in a hybrid–format graduate–level science course. More specifically, our primary research question was: Does students' participation in an online discussion forum integrated into an open–source course management system improve students' academic performance in a hybrid–format graduate–level science course? In addition, our secondary research question was: How consistently can the results of the current investigation be extrapolated to academic courses in other disciplines (i.e. arts, humanities, law) and to academic courses at other academic levels (i.e. undergraduate, high school, middle school)? To the best of our knowledge, the aforementioned are academically significant and, thus far unanswered, research questions because previous research studies have yielded equivocal and, often contradictory, results regarding this subject. To be specific, in their 2005 research article published in the British Journal of Educational Technology, Davies and Graff investigated the relationship between frequency of participation in an online discussion forum and academic performance, quantified via final grades, of a sample of 122 undergraduate students at the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. In conclusion, these researchers reported that underachieving students, the students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CronjeВґ c aUniversity of Pretoria, South Africa; bNorth–West University, South Africa; cCape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa (Received 5 April 2007; final version received 25 May 2007) The establishment of an online community is widely held as the most important prerequisite for successful course completion and depends on an interaction between a peer group and a facilitator. Beaudoin reasoned that online students sometimes engage and learn even when not taking part in online discussions. The context of this study was an online course on web–based education for a Masters degree in computer–integrated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clark and Feldon (2005) concluded that a facilitator who participates and interacts with students prevents them from abandoning their course. Better cognitive outcomes occur when students engage and form a virtual community of learners. The development of a community depends on online interaction with their peers and the facilitator. Learner satisfaction, perseverance, and cognitive outcomes characterize the formation of a virtual learning community. Some contest participation as a prerequisite to learning, claiming students learn sufficiently by observation (Beaudoin, 2002; Sutton, 2001), and lobby for leniency towards lurking or read–only participation. This article responds to Beaudoin's (2002) article ''Learning or lurking? Tracking the 'invisible' online student.'' He reasoned that students sometimes engage and learn even when not taking part in online discussions with faculty and other students and showed that low profile students: spend a significant amount of time in learning–related tasks, including logging on, even when not visibly participating, and they feel they are still learning and benefiting from this low–profile approach to their online studies. (p. 147) We investigated the importance of student online ''visibility'' apparent in the quantity and quality of participation. We explored as a case study the successful completion of a postgraduate online course by asking the following research questions. (1) How did online ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Educators strongly hold that it is greatly important and necessary to apply multimedia in college English teaching. In the new era, with the rapid development of science and technology, "Computer and English" has become two indispensable skills. The College English Curriculum Requirements issued by Ministry of Education proposed using the internet as a medium to better English teaching and learning in higher education. However, traditional teaching of English has shown more and more shortcomings, such as teacher–dominating teaching, single teaching mode, boring learning material, which has hindered the students to greatly improve in English learning. Until now, more and more research and study about college English learning has been carried out. Varieties of teaching methodologies and teaching modes are applied in English teaching. In conclusion, the basic viewpoints of constructivism are summarized as follows: 1) Knowledge comes from the individual's initiative understanding of the world. 2) Knowledge can be acquired through discussion and interaction with peers. 3) Knowledge acquisition is closely related to learners' interests and personal needs. I am satisfied with my grade being an A; however, I would like to improve my knowledge and aim for better grades. My goal for this class is to have a better understanding in developmental psychology and to obtain a higher average of an A. Reading the course schedule and printing out a copy has contributed to my success in this course. I went in and recorded due dates for assignments, discussions boards, and test/quizzes. Also, logging into my Moodle and my email once a day to check announcements and coursework has advanced my success in this course. When I don't understand something I ask questions and I make sure to email my instructor when facing difficulties. Time constraint has contributed to my low grade(s). I agree that the trickiest part is usually figuring out how the professor uses Moodle, because like you said, everybody seems to use Moodle a little bit differently. You made a great point about making sure to get work done early incase something bad happens. I know I have been caught in a situations where things weren't wanting to work right, and I had to find another way to submit my work. Lastly, I agree it is super important to double check due dates and times! I like to write down all the due dates and times for the week on Sunday or Monday, that way I have a written schedule and don't have to get online each time I want to check my schedule. • 43. Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages While teacher training instruction has long led movements in higher education toward more "active learning" (student engagement in the classroom coupled with language teaching practicums), blended learning, with a mix of on–line and in–person learning opportunities, is not yet in widespread use. Increasingly, publishers of textbooks provide on–line resources, both audio and video, but faculty members need time to explore how to use these resources more effectively. With continuing support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the World Language Enrichment and Acquisition Program (WLEA) at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, offered an intensive TESOL certificate course in June of 2013 on Hampshire's campus, immediately following the end of the spring semester. The course was opened to community members and Five College students from Hampshire, UMASS, Mount Holyoke, Smith, and Amherst College. The TESOL certificate is intended for participants who are interested in teaching in community English language programs and or teaching English overseas. Participants in the program met face–to–face Monday–Friday for four weeks from 9:00 am–4:30 pm. The Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) is currently used throughout The Five Colleges, so Moodle was used in the TESOL Course as an additional tool to continue participants' learning and sharing outside of class time.
