1. Friday
Analyze:
My 5th grade class consists of 20 students, 9 girls, and 11 boys. There are 2 African American children
and 1 Hispanic child. The rest of the children are white middle class Americans. They do not have any
type of learning disability.
State Objective:
The children will be able to explain the different elements of whether by becoming a meteorologist and
presenting a 7 day forecast to the class. They will do this with 100% accuracy by the end of the day.
Select Method:
A WebQuest will be provided for the children to make a 7 day forecast. They will be divided into pairs,
and work as a couple to accomplish this. They will also create a podcast of what their favorite type of
weather is and why.
Utilize Material:
-
I will provide computers for the children to work on the WebQuest.
I will provide poster paper, pencils, crayons, and glue to create their poster for a 7 day forecast
of their area.
I will provide computers and headphones/speakers for the children to create their podcast.
I will make sure everyone is on track while walking around the classroom and answering
questions.
Require Learner Participation:
Students will be divided into pairs to work on the WebQuest assignment. They will create a poster
presentation using the supplies around them. They will then present their 7 day forecast to the class,
describing each day in detail. They will also create a podcast of what their favorite type of weather is,
and will then be able to listen to other classmate’s podcast. I will go around the room and keep
everyone on track with their assignments by asking them questions about their activity.
Evaluate and Revise:
Students will be evaluated on how well their presentation is and they used the accurate whether terms
and labels. They will also be assessed on how well they explained the reasoning behind their favorite
whether. Using information that was used during the week, they should be able to use terms that were
discussed.
