The main similarity is that both revolutions involved getting away from British rule and both used violence at some point. Although in the Indian
revolution violence was not successful. Also in both revolutions the British tried to use force to halt the revolutions early on by sending soldiers to
collect taxes in the United States and sending soldiers to end the Indian rebellion of 1857. However the tactics used by the revolutionaries differed
dramatically. In the Indian revolution the revolutionaries refused to work and started to only buy Indian goods which had huge effects on the British
economy that were relying on these transactions where as in the American revolution the tactic was to simply use force to drive the British out.

the United States, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. employed civil disobedience to overcome both the Jim Crow laws that had oppressed the
African–American minority and the systemic racism that was once prevalent in the Southern United States. In South Africa, Nelson Mandela utilized
civil disobedience to lead an anti–apartheid revolution to combat the apartheid system that systemically discriminated against the black inhabitants of
South Africa. All three of these exemplary men have earned a Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts (the prize was not awarded in 1948 because "there
was no suitable living candidate", a tribute to Gandhi who was recently assassinated). Although violence could have been used to combat these civil
