The focus group responses showed that the target audience was mostly 16-25 year old females who identified with psychographic categories like succeeders, explorers, aspirers, and mainstreamers. OK magazine was the most popular choice, likely due to its British and recognizable celebrity content. Respondents said they were drawn to magazine covers featuring recognizable faces and bright colors that conveyed celebrity gossip and lifestyle stories. The target demographic gets most entertainment news from social media, so an online presence would be important. They generally preferred the cleaner style of US Weekly magazine covers.

More boys expectedly picked either the Empire or
Entertainment Weekly magazine, and a few picked OK

Most of my responses said they would choose a
magazine due to a recognizable face on the
front cover and the people and stories that it
conveys
Bright and bold colours was a common interest
that stood out to the audience as well

prominent thing that my target audience

This compliments my pitch idea that a 16-25 year
old target demographic like a choice of stories,
especially inside information that they wouldn’t
expect to read anywhere else

entertainment/news from?
As expected, most of the 16-25 year old
demographic consume most / nearly all of their
media on social media, therefore I will make sure
to use a strong contribution to this inside my
magazine and on my website
9. Which do you prefer the style of?
Option 1 was the US Weekly magazine design. It is the less crowded of the 3 options and a lot
clearer to read the information for each story which I think attracted the high quantity of
succeeders – therefore I will keep this in mind when designing my front cover
