2. • When I created my media pack I produced a
“reader profile” which states who I imagine
my target reader to be like. What his hobbies
are, what he likes to dress like, who he
is, age, gender, etc. All these things were
described in the reader profile and in this
PowerPoint I will state where I have applied
this readers interests/fashion/age etc. into my
magazine.
3. Age and Gender
• My reader profile states that the average age for a
reader of BAM! Magazine would be 19. Having the
typical readers age similar to mine meant that it was
easier to write the content for the double page spread.
If I understood what I was saying then I felt that my
target audience would understand what I am saying. I
followed this philosophy throughout the entire
magazine.
• The gender of the typical reader would be male. This
means that I could enforce stereotypes of males
throughout my magazine via advertisements. I was
advertising football, video games as well as other
things that stereotypically a man would enjoy.
4. Interests
• The interests of my readers may vary, with the person
depicted as “The BAM! Reader” being interested in
keeping up with the latest fashion, education, watching
films and playing computer games. However, one thing
culminates all of these interests together with every
other reader of BAM! Magazine, the interest in
alternative rock.
• I created the magazine with the intention of blocking
people out that did not like alternative rock. The
colours would not be attractive to them, the models
would not seem right for them, the way of writing will
be harder to understand for them due to terminology
related to alternative rock being included.
5. Employment
• My target reader was a student in university with a part-
time job. Most of the people I expect to read my magazine
would be in education (whether that is the end of
secondary school, college, sixth form or university) with a
part time job. One things for sure is that I expect my target
audience to be having some income and be around the age
of 16-18+ due to the connotations with the rock n’ roll
lifestyle.
• Also rock festivals can be quite expensive and without an
income my audience would not be able to experience a
festival.
• Also since my target audience are students they would be
part of a bigger group of friends which they can share the
magazine with and get its name out there.
