Petroglyphs Writing History
The idea of communicating ideas between people and generations is not a new one, for millennia stories, advice, knowledge, has been passed from
generation to generation; first orally, then through petroglyphs, and finally handwriting. Although true handwriting has existed for five thousand years;
first invented by the Sumerians as "a means of long distance communication which was necessitated by trade" (Mark, Joshua J. "Writing." Ancient
History Encyclopedia. Ancient History Encyclopedia, 28 Apr. 2011), it may not be the first form of writing ever invented. Some scholars argue that the
petroglyphs found on cave walls in France and Spain were the first form of writing, these paintings were pictograms, depicting not only a hunt, but,
some theorize, the location of hunts, who participated, and sometimes even contained, or may have contained, a lesson. "Don't hunt buffalo here unless
you have a hunting party", "Dangerous Mammoth, kill many hunters", "Good water near, many deer come drink". (Gaur, Albertine. "Non–linguistic
Forms of Writing." Literacy and the Politics of Writing. Bristol, UK: Intellect, 2000. 16–29. Print.) These petroglyphs helped the Neanderthal tribal
society thrive, they ensured that the tribe could find land that was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Invented by Austin Palmer in 1888, the method was praised for simplicity and plainness, focusing on the proximal muscles of the arm rather than the
fingers, it allowed students and teachers to write at a more consistant speed that was said to be able to compete with the typewriter. (wikipedia)
Although it eventually fell out of use in favor of later methods, it is still considered the grandfather of modern handwriting in most of the world,
especially in the United States and England.

Why Cursive Writing Is Necessary?
Do you think cursive writing is necessary? Many people call cursive as longhand, handwriting, or joint writing. People have been known cursive
writing for long time, and some are still using it. Although, National Governor's Association and the Council of Chief of State School Officials made
Common Core standard in cursive, but cursive is no longer relevant in the modern world. And cursive course in elementary schools are
recommendation, not a requirement. In schools, most of teachers are encourages student to use the digital tools. Because cursive writing is unnecessary
skills to have and irrelevant to modern world, I think Cursive writing should be dropped from elementary school curriculum. Cursive writing is
unnecessary skills to have.

Chicago Retail: A Quick Summary on the Kings of the Retail Scene Chicago is known for it 's innovative spirit. The Chicago History Museum has

resources to tell a wonderful story on the history of modern day retail, but instead chooses to keep the exhibit simple. Modern Retail has about fifteen

Costumers like to know they aren 't throwing away their money on useless items. Looks are first impressions. Having eye catching window

been no Marshall Field & Company. When it comes to Chicago 's retail scene, there are not that many businesses that have made a greater impact on
the city than Marshall Field 's. Before there was a Marshall Field 's store, there was a dry goods store owned by Palmer. "Palmer imported high–quality
merchandise from Europe and the Orient, taught clerks to remember customers ' names and preferences, and instructed them never to pressure visitors
into buying" (People and Events 1). Potter Palmer valued customer satisfaction and great prices, that 's the reason his dry goods store was successful.
In 1865, Palmer sold his dry goods store to Marshall Field and Levi Leiter (People and Events 1). In 1880, Marshall Field bought out Levi Leiter and
called his business Marshall Field & Co. (People and Events 1). In terms of customer satisfaction, Marshall Field 's store operated like Palmer 's store.
Marshall Field and Company was overall a great business for customers. On the other hand, Marshall Field was not a friend of his employees. A

Why Handwriting Is Important
Handwriting: Is It Really That Important?
Over the past few decades, handwriting may seem almost obsolete or those that are under the age of 30. Due to the change of technology over the past
15 years, handwriting seems to suffer. Before the age of technology that bloom through the ages of until today, there were differentwriting styles that
word pairs to use to be successful in the business world end in school. This is before the age of the modern computer and electronic typewriter. This
article will help explain why handwriting is important and maybe the future of handwriting as well.
Current and Past Technology

The Harvard, Oxford and American Psychological Association writing styles are still being used today. All the styles that are still being used include
the Chicago and scientific writing styles. When editing for newspapers and scientific articles, the test was very tedious. In fact, the white editing is
done today is mainly on the computer.
However, studies have shown that is faster to read information that is on a fiscal source such as a book or notebook than on a spring for this computer.
This is due to the high resolution pictures and lights there I made it from the screen.
It slows down reading times and causes these writing stuff to suffer. This is because when information is written by hand although the test may seem to
be slower, it gives the writer time to reflect on his or her thoughts about the subject differently. Moreover, scientific studies have shown that the brain
receives material information differently on paper books then on screen for just computers, smartphones and tablets.

Personal Narrative : The Plane Flies Over The Yukon...
Everyone has their place some may be secret some may not be so secret. They might be more obvious than others, they can be close or far. It can be a
getaway from the daily stress of day to day life but everyone has at least one. I consider it my home it's where my heart is it is where I can fully relax
and become the true Melissa. It brings me peace and tranquility like nothing else in my life can. My secret place and home is Palmer, Alaska. Nothing
brings me more joy in my life when I look out the airplane window as the plane flies over the Yukon Mountain ranges. At this part knowing that I am
getting closer by the second. When I finally look out the window, and see Anchorage,Alaska as we descend I see the surroundings of all the mountains
and all the greenery and I start to feel alive again. I feel myself shedding all my issues of my life like a snake shedding its skin and leaving it all behind.
I get off the airplane and sense of relaxation and comfort comes over me, a feeling of home. I have a seven–minute walk to the stairs to get to the
baggage claim and then finally see my best friend that I have not seen in 115 days. As I am walking it feels like a dream; it does not feel like I am in
Alaska and I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I am awake. I arrive at the stairs and start the walk down the granite looking stairs and head
to the baggage claim. I look for my best friend Steve we finally find each other and reunite. Another wave of comfort and happiness

Even when Bakken was a toddler, he liked to play with cords, wires, connectors, and plugs. At age eight, Bakken saw the movie Frankenstein and was
very inspired. "I was fascinated by the idea of combining electricity with medicine," explained Bakken. As a young adult, Bakken's first wife, Connie
Olson, worked in a hospital located in south Minneapolis. He visited the hospital often, and soon realized that they needed a company dedicated to
fixing broken machinery. The Medtronics Company then started, with Bakken conjoining with his brother–in–law,Palmer Hermundslie. The invention
of the pacemaker came around in November of 1957, when Dr. Lillehei, at the University of Minnesota, was operating on babies born with a heart

The Jazz Age was one of the many highlights of the 1920’s...
The Jazz Age was one of the many highlights of the 1920's before the stock market crash that triggered the start of the Great Depression in 1929.
Because of the distress that the American soldiers faced during World War 1, many of them returned questioning the true meaning of life. Their
solution was to recklessly enjoy their lives since you only live once. A completely new culture bloomed during the decade through it's new music, crazy
dancing and brand new atmosphere. While the country seemed to be rather optimistic as a whole during the 1920's, this decade actually had quite a few
issues. Although the United States demonstrated confidence throughout the decade, there were many situations in which the country experienced
disillusionment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As women achieved greater equality, many of them shifted from the countryside to towns and cities. In 1920 women were given the right to vote
and could participate in government. More jobs were open to women giving them money and independence (C). They had more personal freedom
in their choice of clothes, make up and style which led to what we now know of as the flappers. It became socially acceptable for women to smoke,
drink and go to parties unaccompanied. As independent citizens, women were also given the choice of birth control. This was a drastic change in
the lives of Americans since the decision to not give birth to a baby had never been a decision that a women should make alone (E). Like women,
young people found confidence in forming their futures. They envisioned life to fall into place on its own and thought that there was no need to stress
out (I). Even though people were starting to feel confident, there was a sense of disillusionment through the political and cultural aspects of society.
Many citizens became nervous towards communists, fascists, and socialists in fear that they would change society the way that it had been. Because
they were so scared, many Americans decided to take harsh measures and single out all of the people that belonged to any of these beliefs. A certain
man, A. Mitchell Palmer, decided to go to the extreme and arrest

Why Is Cursive Writing Obsolete
I believe cursive writing is obsolete because I never learned how to write in cursive nor have I ever needed to. As said in the first argument "Cursive
is a common teaching tool for students with dyslexia, a reading disorder." this is true because you can't mix up letters in cursive. I think that cursive
shouldnt be a required thing to learn in school, but should always be available if needed. Most high schools and colleges expect you to turn in typed,
rather than handwritten, papers. The survey took in 2012 given to handwriting teachers, only 37% of them wrote cursive.
First, I believe that cursive writing should not be required but should be available for those who want or need to learn it. If a student with dyslexia or
any other brain disorder was to ask to learn cursive so that they had less touble with there disorder than it should be available for them. Even just a
student such as myself. I have never learned to write cursive, none of my teachers thought it was important, but if there is someone who want to learn
to write in cursive it should also be available for that student. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cursive writing
Do we really like using cursive writing every day? We could print every word and not make our life as hard. Cursive can't always be as useful as
teachers make it seem. Cursive writing is an unneeded lesson, because it takes too much time, hurts the writer's wrist, and causes bad legibility.
Cursive writing takes too much time to go over as a class. Writing in cursive can waste time that can be used for other things that are more important.
Instead of wasting time on how to write cursive we can learn more English activities. Time management takes an important part in cursive
handwriting. Managing our time will save time to work on new stuff and get all our work done. Scheduling our time will help us manage and save
from wasting time. Schedules can keep us on more subjects and keep from having a whole nine weeks of cursive writing. Wasting time can affect us
from learning new things.
Cursive writing can make throbbing and sharp pain in our wrist or hand. When we write in cursive our hand gets sore and will start feeling bad after a
short amount of time. Soreness can affect us in other school activities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will need to be neat and consistent with our handwriting. Having good handwriting can possibly get us a better job. If everyone writes neatly
in print, then there should be no need to write in cursive. An account with important papers that need signed can be hard to read if we have sloppy
handwriting. For example, if someone is writing a check and has sloppy handwriting that nobody can read, then that person will have trouble.
Writing a letter to a family member or to a close friend should be neat. If we're writing to a boss or a person with higher skill levels than us we should
make it neat and in print as well so they can read it and we might receive that job or a spot in a class. Writing neatly in print should be more focused

Cursive Negative Writing
Cursive handwriting has been considered an educational staple for years but with all the advances in modern technology has the need to know how to
write in cursive become irrelevent? With almost all classes going digital should cursive no longer be taught to the younger generations? Some people
believe cursive handwriting is essential to the development of an active mind. Some people believe typing things out as opposed to actually
handwriting messages is more beneficial. Where do you stand on this topic? Do you think public schools should teach their students how to write in
cursive? Do you think cursive handwriting is becoming obsolete?
As with many things taught to the younger generations, there always comes some sort of debate on whether or not the knowledge being distributed is
actually beneficial to their developing minds in the long run. Will what the schools are teaching them actually help them in their lives as (hopefully)
fully functioning adults? Cursive handwriting and whether or not to remove it permenantly from the educational curriculum has been being tossed
back and forth. A survey given to handwriting teachers revealed that only 37% of the handwriting teachers wrote in cursive. It used to be that a
persons name written in cursive was an important part of their identity, their literal and figurative signature so to speak, but that is no longer the case.
A signature is no longer needed for most legal documents now a days. The use of an electronic signature

ATLANTA Critique
Ever heard of the show ATLANTA? Probably not, on the spectrum of things, it's a show on FX that not many people knew about. And, if you did it
was because Donald Glover was the main star of it. Not to say that is the sole reason why people appreciated and watched the show, but it is a part of
the reason why.
Glover has not only played a part in COMMUNITY, but directed and produced the show itself. He even has an "alter ego," as you would call it, called
Childish Gambino who raps under the hip–hop genre. Glover's life is in tip–top shape as far as his resume goes and he has had no issues with finding a
job. He recently, this year in fact, announced his new show ATLANTA. First thoughts were confusing; the trailers did not tell much and maybe that was
for the best thinking back on it now.
The first episode premiered September 6th on FX at 9PM and from the beginning of the first episode I knew this show was going to be something
special. The show's minimalistic style, mixed with the rap songs in the background make this show what it is. And, that is a minimalistic masterpiece.

In the article, "Why We Shouldn't Write Off Cursive" by Bobby George and June George, talks about cursive. The authors argue how cursive should

when I studied in a private school at India, we had to learn cursive. It was not an optional, it was a must and we were pretty much was graded on how
neat/good you write it. Personally, I think cursive is very neat, elegant, and rich looking and I believe it helps you get a good handwriting too.

Cursive Writing Is The Importance Of Writing
As the two positions posed above have stated, it is a matter of grave importance that school and its systems should contemplate the importance of
cursive handwriting and whether it should remain or be forsaken as some method of unwarranted use. Whereas both sides have their own opinions, one
must consult each and formulate his or her own thought on the matter. For example, though cursive handwriting may be found to be lacking use in
today's technologically–fueled society, the benefits of cursive writing in a variety of situations over typing cannot be underestimated. Such fields and
the situations concern the modern problems of identity, beneficiary subjects, and strength versus ease.
First and foremost, in a society where information is of the utmost importance and is found to be obtained through some method of identity, one must
consult what typing, thumbprints, and digital passwords have over the contained chaos that is each and every person's unique, handwritten signature.
Whereas the second article opposing the continuation of cursive handwriting said that 'A survey was given to handwriting teachers at a 2012
conference hosted by a lead researcher. The survey revealed that only 37% of the teachers wrote in cursive. If handwriting teachers don't value
cursive, then why should anyone?', the author of the article forgot to include several important factors that come to mind. The conference itself was
not stated, nor was the amount of attendees, let alone the amount that were teachers. Such a 'fact' if one will think can be easily misconstrued from a
formulated lie. Of course, another reason could be that the ones that surveyed the teachers selected a small, biased margin that would otherwise have
resulted in contradictory evidence, i.e. useless data. Secondly, 'It used to be that people's written name was an important part of their identity' attempts
to convey the idea that one does not use his or her or their signature anymore. However, 'A signature is no longer needed for many legal documents
and receipts' would be found incorrect. In the personal experience of the author, every receipt for an order or registration for school, testing or not, has
needed a handwritten signature to testify he is actually

Cursive Writing In Public Schools
Should cursive writing be taught to students in public schools? Personally, I believe cursive writing is a bit outdated in a sense. But I do not see it as a
roadblock to any stepping stones if students were taught cursive writing. There are several facts and statements that add to the support of my opinion.
Cursive writing is seen as outdated in sorts due to the quickly developing technological world. In 2012, a survey was conveyed amongst
handwriting teachers and come to find out only 37% of the teachers used cursive writing. Computer skills and typing are crucial in todays world.
Cursive was once used as a form of identification, people's signatures were valued. Where in todays world, signatures are not always used. We now
have digital passwords, as well as thumbprints to verify identity. I would argue that cursive writing is proven to help stimulate both the left and right
sides of the human brain, while as typing and print do not. It is believed that handwriting goes hand in hand with brain injuries. Tests showed that some
people who had suffered brain injuries that affected their writing, typing, or print, could still write in cursive. This directly proves that cursive, type,
and print use different sections of the brain. Though cursive writing excercises both parts of the brain, is it worth sacrificing needed time in todays fast
acting technological world? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As of 2010 cursive writing is not required to graduate high school. It's a shame, not only is it good for the brain but it is a lost art. Cursive writing is
an essential skill and not for what people might guess.
It has been shown in studies that writing by hand helps people remember ideas better and also to learn more than typing on a computer. It has been

Recursive Censorship
Is cursive handwriting a thing of the past? For hundreds of years, this style of penmanship has been the main form of written communication, but for
a large number of people today, it is a riddle that can not be solved. "The sinuous letters of the cursive alphabet, swirled on countless love letters,
credit card slips and banners above elementary chalk boards are going the way of the quill and inkwell. With computer keyboards and smartphones
increasingly occupying young fingers, the gradual death of the fancier ABC's is revealing some unforeseen challenges" (Zezima). In today's digital
world, some people argue that cursive handwriting is no longer necessary for academic success and has become irrelevant in the classroom. When
Common Core was introduced in 2010, many school districts decreased the time spent on cursive while others removed it from the curriculum all
together. Neuroscientist and psychologist are beginning to show we may be dismissing cursive handwriting too quickly as numerous studies that show
the benefit of cursive writing should not be overlooked, in fact, "learning cursive is an important tool for cognitive development" (Klemm). ... Show

Why Cursive Should Still Be Taught In Schools
Cursive should still be tough in schools. One reason is most kids can not read or write in cursive. Or write there name in cursive. One of the mane
reasons that cursive should still be taught in schools is, because even now we use electronics devices for jus about everything paper and pen is still

Cursive should still be taught in schools. One of the reason I think this is because most kids can not read or write in cursive. In fact it is said that

Cursive Writing: Manditory School Curriculum
The issue of whether cursive should be a required part of curriculum or not is one that is strongly disagreed on. On the one hand, you have the camp
that says, if we lose this important skill, we are also losing a tool which is believed to help our brains. On the other hand, you have the camp that
believes that cursive writing is a dinosaur that is hindering us from making advances in our technological world. However, with all things taken into
consideration, I believe that cursive writing should be a part of manditory school curriculum for a few reasons.
The first reason is the weight behind the things found by psychologists, those that identify brain disorders, and medical brain scans. Cursive writing is
thought to help individuals with, "remember[ing] ideas better than typing", developing fine motor–skills, and strengthening damaged brains or brains
that have reading disorders. The fact that these show a positive improvement for the brain makes this argument very compelling to me. ... Show more

As a preschool teacher working with ages 3,4, and 5, I see first hand the developement of fine–motor skills. I watch as the children learn to put large
puzzle pieces together, place string through small holes, and finally gain the strength in their little hands to hold a pencil. All of these things happen
progressively and steadily. If these children are going to write someday, why not take it a step further and teach them to write cursive? Why not have
the atitude of giving them a bonus of applicable skills early on istead of treating it like a

What Is Cursive Writing?
In the questions of schools allowing and/or using the structure of cursive writing or not using the structure of cursive writing is something that can
effect every individual differently. In my opinion, i think schools and everywhere else needed, that cursive writing should be used because as the article
states, writing by hand helps individuals remember ideas more efficiant then typing and it makes you actually think and summarize ideas, not just
simply recording them.
Writing things by hand helps individuals remember ideas more efficiant then typing. I do believe that is a true statement for most because it is a true
statement for myself, and many others I have come incontact with. I think without writing notes and things down,

Why Is Cursive Writing Important
The debate on cursive writing, how important is it?
Although cursive writing seems like a thing of the past, many people debate if it should stay there or not. Writing by hand does have a lot of benifits,
not many of therm do people associate writing by hand with. Although it has been proven to be good for our minds, there is still a lot of contreversy
over the subject.
I agree with the article supporting cursive writing for the following reasons. Writing by hand, especially in cursive, is very benificial to our memory.
More people who write in cursive remember ideas better as opposed to those who type. Hand writing verse typing allows people to process the
material given to them better. During a research study, students who took

Cursive Writing Persuasive Essay
Why we don't need cursive writing Only seven states in the US teach cursive California, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, and North Carolina.
In my opinion cursive writing should not still be taught. First of all there's no time with the busy teachers to teach cursive, only seven states still
teach it, and you really only need it for your signature. To start off, having no prier knowledge could you grandparents read it what about you kids and
in school there's no time for teachers to teach it with how busy they are with notes and helping and everything that teachers have to do during schools
hours. Teachers are always walking around, either helping students or going to get something or someone. Teachers have a busy day ahead of them
with math, science, reading, history with all of those there's no time for cursive anymore. Secondly, only seven states still teach cursive these day can
you believe that only seven out of all 50 states teach cursive. For one thing students think its to hard to write it so they just end up quitting. Obviously,
they end up never learning there cursive, kids just gave up these days and don't care about there cursive writing. I am certain that almost all kids don't

we only need it to write are signature, but most people never write in cursive they just write normally. Like my parents they just write there name
normally on everything except when they put there signature down if its when they are buying something or getting taxes etc. So really what is the
purpose for cursive I mean it goes way back in the day when cursive was actually used all the time, but now cursive is gone in most people. Those

Persuasive Essay About Handwriting Essay
Children should learn handwriting in general, but most importantly learn how to write cursive. The problem that is getting in the way of children
learning handwriting is computers and the advanced technologies that prevent us from practicing our own personal hand. Many schools such as Flint's
Carpenter Road Elementary School received a grant that gave them free computers, and TV's for their classroom. This school, like many others is now
focusing on teaching children to type and computer skills they will need later on. Although typing is good to know, there are many downsides and
faults to this seemingly innovative and progressive skill. Many children already stare at electronics for pleasure when watching T.V. or on their own
devices,

Yes.
So how do you get learning to the people? Are they all in one place or do you have to distribute it?
Yes. That is a great question. We do both. We have 6 regional centers across the country. New Hampshire, Jacksonville Floriday, . SO those
regional centers house roughly 1500 associates give or take a few, you know of a couple hundred given the site we are talking about, but 1500 on
average. Some of those roles are service, some are sales. Some of the programs we run, because we have large groups there in the building who are
local to each other, some might think of a new hire training coming into service. Entry level position, just starting with Fidelity, we have a classroom
of 20 associates that need a learning experience. We can deliver that face to face. Our facilitators are local, ouraudience is local. We have ways and
means to deliver the training in person, face to face. There are other times where we deliver training virtually. SO we may have a facilitator in

To Cursive or Not to Cursive?
A fifteen year old straight "A" student walked into the Department of Motor Vehicles with her mother. The excitement of becoming a driver for the
first time quickly faded when the girl was required to sign her name. The girl was mortified that she didn't know how. The mother couldn't help but
wonder if her child's generation was filled with cursive illiterates? Cursive writing should be a curriculum requirement for grade school students not
only because it is required on legal documents but it is important to understand information written in cursive and it improves penmanship.
Teenagers and young adults are increasingly faced with embarrassment because of their lacking knowledge in the art of handwriting. For many
young adults it starts with getting a driver's license. As the amount of things that an individual wants in life increases the more their signature is
needed. The big things like a car and house can be thwarted for a short time by living in a city with public transportation and with parents or
roommates. There comes a point in life when personal needs and wants become clear and the skill of signing one's name becomes a necessity. Going
to college or getting married and having children require tedious amounts of paperwork that repeatedly asks a person to sign on the dotted line.

Hyper Local Sourcing Essay
Hyper Local Sourcing Today people are trying to eat healthier and make better decisions. That can be hard sometimes when you go out to eat, thats
why restaurants are always trying to find better ways to appeal to their customers. One way they are doing that is hyper local sourcing. That is food
that is grown and processed in the community or on site. It is becoming increasingly popular; some places are even growing their own vegetables. It
doesn't get much fresher than that. This new trend can be good and bad for the restaurant. It may bring purchasing costs up, but it may also bring in
more customers. This is becoming more and more popular because people believe it is healthier, like going organic. They like the fact that it helps out

Cursive Writing Should Be Taught In Schools
The arguments presented are provided with informative information. Both auther's points of views are very beneficial to students. However, even in
today's technological world, taking cursive out of the educational system is something to be profoundly flawed.
With the idea that cursive writing exercises the left and the right hemosphere of the brain, this is something that should be imparitive for school
childred. Especially since the brain doesn't stop developing until age 25. If there are more things to advance this development, then cursive should still
be in schools. To completely obliverate it, seems to be taking something away that could futher a childs knowlege and even theireducation.

market. Although, they determined multiple uses for the technology were possible, such as, screening drug candidates, drug delivery applications,
detecting cancer, and possibly applied to Homeland Defense for detection of nuclear weapons. The primary focus was decided to be used to identify
and catch coronary artery disease (CAD) before it happens. Marc Umeno developed the initial concept for NEOMed during graduate school at Case

An economic downturn for funding of such investments has put NEOMed into a crucial situation; continue developing the current product, use the
technology for another purpose or dissolve the company. NEOMED had the right idea they developed a product that could stand alone without a
strong competitor they brought in experts to help with the managements plans, financial plans and business plans, they set realistic goals and had a
strong purpose however they do not seem able to adapt to recent changes in the lagging economy and lack of investors. In my opinion, a strong
marketing person may have been helpful, although NEOMed's board consisted of many well educated individuals that specialized in science, medical,
financial and management none focused solely on marketing. There was not a lot they did not cover, they understood what they needed and had a
well thought out plan to produce it, they developed partnerships, as well as, produced market research, accuracy of procedures, projected timelines but
in the end could not put it all together. Even though, much of the funding issues could not have been foreseen, I feel NEOMed may have had an easier
time finding funding if they would have went the route of Homeland Defense because of the current market in the 2002. As callous as it may sound it
would have been the most opportune time to capitalize on the tragedy of

There is no standard way of taking notes. Although students have their own methods of studying and taking notes, it has been proven that cursive
writing is more beneficial to students rather than taking notes. Most educational programs do not require students to learn cursive writing while some
do. It has been proven to be more effective to those who take notes rather than those who type their notes. In the article "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain

who handwrote notes and students who typed their notes. In paragraph 2, the author states, "In one study, psychologists found students learned

Why Is It Better To Write In Cursive?
In the year 2013, a teaching directive went out to schools across the nation, that discouraged teachers from putting cursive into the learning curriculum.
Now in the current year, cursive is beginning to make a small comeback in elementary schools in the state of Oregon, and I'm here to explain why
that's a bad thing.
People believe that if you learn cursive you will have improved handwriting or efficiency in writing, but experts beg to differ. The simple facts are that
the belief that your handwriting is improved by writing in cursive, is just an opinion. This means that there is no scientific proof that writing in cursive
improves handwriting, however in the cursive writing style; letters in a word are connected, and so it can be faster,

Benefits Of Cursive Writing
Imagining our future citizens being unable to write their own signature is truly a bewildering thought. Unfortunately, this reality is a very possible and
likely outcome for our country as schools around the United States are debating whether or not to keep cursive writing in their curriculums. Some
states believe it is a vital and basic necessity of education, while others think print handwriting would do just fine. Generally, this matter has proven to
be a very controversial topic that largely impacts education. From the Sources, it can be gathered that there are many credible arguments to this debate,
however, it is evident that the benefits of maintaining cursive writing in schools outweigh the negatives, if any. Those who believe cursive writing is
an overrated tradition, argue that the space it takes in the curriculum can better be used to expose students to new, more helpful material. For
instance, Source A claims that the practice of cursive writing in schools is completely replaceable. The article states, "when society adds new skills
and new knowledge to the list of things public schools teach, some items have to come off the list to avoid a curriculum that is a mile wide and an
inch deep." As a result, some states have had no problem removing cursive, while others like California are still managing to squeeze it in. Source A
also explains that with the technology of today, there may very well be substitutes for a signature such as fingerprint scans. The general

What I Learned in the Course of Spiritual Life and Growth
I have learned to live my life through trial and error; I believe mistakes should be accepted without regret. I didn't always think in this manner, I
originally was a perfectionist. I strived to be the best at everything I did and it stunted my growth in life for quite some time. After I understood the
value of my life, I realized the key was to live genuinely; to live for a purpose that was not only important to myself, but to others as well. I was not
taught morality, I had to learn it the hard way. The course, Spiritual Life and Growth, has taught me morality to some extent. On the first week of
attending Spiritual Life and Growth, I decided to take a break from my commission based job for a few years; I understood the consequences– if I did
not sell I did not earn. I began to cleanse myself, by answering the questions, "Who am I? What do I love?" I was able to truly tap into myself:
spiritually, and I understood I was forced to find a new career path, because of the love I had for myself, and let go of my prior job. My career, of
the past ten years, has been extremely stressful, and is likely responsible for my high blood pressure condition presently. I realized, I would lose
business, and my current competitors would likely collect commission checks on business I was supposed to earn. However, I made my schooling a
priority, and I accepted Autumn with open arms. In "Let Your Life Speak: Listening For The Voice Of Vocation", Parker J. Palmer (2000) stated

Cursive Letters
Catholic schools tend to emphasize teaching cursive to their students for its historical roots and its fluidity. As a result, in third grade, my teachers
spent weeks teaching my peers and I to write in cursive. Today I write in script properly, if not often, unlike many of my classmates from public
schools. Although I rarely think of this superfluous skill as an asset, it comes in handy when I need to write under a time restraint. My cursive letters are
quick and slanted; ink flowing in fast loops and lines as I hurry to get out my message, the side of my hand never leaving the page in my rush. I feel
personally responsible for the uncorking of hundreds of bottles of red wine and the undue exhalation of gallons of CO2 as my teachers struggle ... Show

It will attempt to alleviate the sufferings and better the lives of thousands, however, the emphasis of my efforts will not be on the quantity, but on the
lives themselves. My relentless drive and open–mindedness will cause great change in the world. I want to break down negative, close–minded
prejudices and make way for newer, purer methods. Everyone in the world should choose happiness over hate, every time, and I will work all my
life to persuade or allow people to do so, although I realize this is an implausible standard to always uphold. But impossibility is no excuse not to
work for something. Working hard to complete an impossible goal must yield some positive effects for today's people, as well as a foundation for later
generations to build on. The problems I am most passionate about solving include the rapidly–deteriorating environment, the inequality and hatred of
women and certain races or religions in parts the world, and the lack of rights and choices for citizens living under dictatorial governments. Only
with relentless work can anything be done to alleviate these ills, and I am willing to dedicate my life to any of these purposes. Most people are not
even aware of the severity of many of these problems, and among those who do realize the extent of these issues, many do not or do not know how to
make a difference. Although I do not strictly adhere to all of the values instilled in me by my Catholic education, the most important principles I
learned from Catholicism are the same ones that are so often overlooked by society: The crucialness of toleration, duty to our fellow human beings,
and responsibility for the Earth we all share. I seek any solution for these issues; they necessitate creative problem–solving and intensive thought. I am
willing to take charge of my ideas and implement them, directing others to do so as well if possible, or

Argument Against Cursive
You're probably familiar with the term cursive cursive really necessary now a days, read more and find out! All across the nation there is a debate
going on if cursive should be allowed in schools or discontinued. And if it is necessary or not. Cursive should be discontinued because it is unnecessary.
Cursive is only necessary when it comes to signing your name. You do not read in cursive, print is used 99% of the time instead of cursive. In
conclusion cursive is very unnecessary and should not be a curriculum in schools.
When you are on the road driving or just doing daily activities you read things in print. One reason as you drive you should come across road signs

Thirdly If cursive is taught back then people in higher grades like highschool and junior high will have to be taught this. This could take precious
time away from doing better things. When you work on cursive it is "something that is a learning thing with memorization" so you can quickly get
out of it with shortcuts according to Ms jobey. This shows if cursive were to be brought back the books and everything around us today still would be
print and it would be like moving to another country with a different language not being able to connect the two. Importantly when you go into school
libraries the librarians and schools have "gotten rid of most books written in cursive" simply because students don't know how to read them and they
are just left on the shelf according to scopepentos. Additionally this shows that even librarians and schools don't think cursive is vital enough for it to
be taught to us kids considering they take it out of there library's. In conclusion teaching cursive now would cause pandemonium and be unbeneficial
because it would put people in different spots and confuse

Petroglyphs Writing History

  • 1. Petroglyphs Writing History The idea of communicating ideas between people and generations is not a new one, for millennia stories, advice, knowledge, has been passed from generation to generation; first orally, then through petroglyphs, and finally handwriting. Although true handwriting has existed for five thousand years; first invented by the Sumerians as "a means of long distance communication which was necessitated by trade" (Mark, Joshua J. "Writing." Ancient History Encyclopedia. Ancient History Encyclopedia, 28 Apr. 2011), it may not be the first form of writing ever invented. Some scholars argue that the petroglyphs found on cave walls in France and Spain were the first form of writing, these paintings were pictograms, depicting not only a hunt, but, some theorize, the location of hunts, who participated, and sometimes even contained, or may have contained, a lesson. "Don't hunt buffalo here unless you have a hunting party", "Dangerous Mammoth, kill many hunters", "Good water near, many deer come drink". (Gaur, Albertine. "Non–linguistic Forms of Writing." Literacy and the Politics of Writing. Bristol, UK: Intellect, 2000. 16–29. Print.) These petroglyphs helped the Neanderthal tribal society thrive, they ensured that the tribe could find land that was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People have been known cursive writing for long time, and some are still using it. Although, National Governor's Association and the Council of Chief of State School Officials made Common Core standard in cursive, but cursive is no longer relevant in the modern world. And cursive course in elementary schools are recommendation, not a requirement. In schools, most of teachers are encourages student to use the digital tools. Because cursive writing is unnecessary skills to have and irrelevant to modern world, I think Cursive writing should be dropped from elementary school curriculum. The Chicago History Museum has an exhibit titled Second to None that highlights some of Chicago 's inventions and innovations. Modern Retail is an exhibit within Second to None that focuses on Chicago 's retail history. The information provided by the CHM on Modern Retail is a little disappointing. The CHM has the resources to tell a wonderful story on the history of modern day retail, but instead chooses to keep the exhibit simple. Modern Retail has about fifteen plaques to read and a few dull artifacts. The exhibit takes about five minutes to read and enjoy. Sadly, it seems the CHM 's definition of retail is narrow. Without Palmer there would have been no Marshall Field & Company. When it comes to Chicago 's retail scene, there are not that many businesses that have made a greater impact on the city than Marshall Field 's. Before there was a Marshall Field 's store, there was a dry goods store owned by Palmer. "Palmer imported high–quality merchandise from Europe and the Orient, taught clerks to remember customers ' names and preferences, and instructed them never to pressure visitors into buying" (People and Events 1). Potter Palmer valued customer satisfaction and great prices, that 's the reason his dry goods store was successful. In 1865, Palmer sold his dry goods store to Marshall Field and Levi Leiter (People and Events 1). In 1880, Marshall Field bought out Levi Leiter and called his business Marshall Field & Co. (People and Events 1). In terms of customer satisfaction, Marshall Field 's store operated like Palmer 's store. Marshall Field and Company was overall a great business for customers. Before the age of technology that bloom through the ages of until today, there were differentwriting styles that word pairs to use to be successful in the business world end in school. However, studies have shown that is faster to read information that is on a fiscal source such as a book or notebook than on a spring for this computer. This is due to the high resolution pictures and lights there I made it from the screen. It slows down reading times and causes these writing stuff to suffer. This is because when information is written by hand although the test may seem to be slower, it gives the writer time to reflect on his or her thoughts about the subject differently. He visited the hospital often, and soon realized that they needed a company dedicated to fixing broken machinery. The Medtronics Company then started, with Bakken conjoining with his brother–in–law,Palmer Hermundslie. The invention of the pacemaker came around in November of 1957, when Dr. Lillehei, at the University of Minnesota, was operating on babies born with a heart defect, called blue babies, whose skin is tinted blue because of poor circulation. • 7. Their solution was to recklessly enjoy their lives since you only live once. A completely new culture bloomed during the decade through it's new music, crazy dancing and brand new atmosphere. While the country seemed to be rather optimistic as a whole during the 1920's, this decade actually had quite a few issues. As women achieved greater equality, many of them shifted from the countryside to towns and cities. In 1920 women were given the right to vote and could participate in government. More jobs were open to women giving them money and independence (C). They had more personal freedom in their choice of clothes, make up and style which led to what we now know of as the flappers. It became socially acceptable for women to smoke, drink and go to parties unaccompanied. As independent citizens, women were also given the choice of birth control. This was a drastic change in the lives of Americans since the decision to not give birth to a baby had never been a decision that a women should make alone (E). Like women, young people found confidence in forming their futures. They envisioned life to fall into place on its own and thought that there was no need to stress out (I). Even though people were starting to feel confident, there was a sense of disillusionment through the political and cultural aspects of society. Many citizens became nervous towards communists, fascists, and socialists in fear that they would change society the way that it had been. Because they were so scared, many Americans decided to take harsh measures and single out all of the people that belonged to any of these beliefs. A certain man, A. • 8. Why Is Cursive Writing Obsolete I believe cursive writing is obsolete because I never learned how to write in cursive nor have I ever needed to. As said in the first argument "Cursive is a common teaching tool for students with dyslexia, a reading disorder." this is true because you can't mix up letters in cursive. I think that cursive shouldnt be a required thing to learn in school, but should always be available if needed. Most high schools and colleges expect you to turn in typed, rather than handwritten, papers. The survey took in 2012 given to handwriting teachers, only 37% of them wrote cursive. First, I believe that cursive writing should not be required but should be available for those who want or need to learn it. If a student with dyslexia or any other brain disorder was to ask to learn cursive so that they had less touble with there disorder than it should be available for them. Even just a student such as myself. I have never learned to write cursive, none of my teachers thought it was important, but if there is someone who want to learn to write in cursive it should also be available for that student. ... • 9. Cursive Writing Cursive writing Do we really like using cursive writing every day? We could print every word and not make our life as hard. Cursive can't always be as useful as teachers make it seem. Time management takes an important part in cursive handwriting. Managing our time will save time to work on new stuff and get all our work done. Scheduling our time will help us manage and save from wasting time. Schedules can keep us on more subjects and keep from having a whole nine weeks of cursive writing. Wasting time can affect us from learning new things. For example, if someone is writing a check and has sloppy handwriting that nobody can read, then that person will have trouble. Writing a letter to a family member or to a close friend should be neat. • 11. Cursive Negative Writing Cursive handwriting has been considered an educational staple for years but with all the advances in modern technology has the need to know how to write in cursive become irrelevent? With almost all classes going digital should cursive no longer be taught to the younger generations? Some people believe cursive handwriting is essential to the development of an active mind. Some people believe typing things out as opposed to actually handwriting messages is more beneficial. Where do you stand on this topic? Do you think public schools should teach their students how to write in cursive? Do you think cursive handwriting is becoming obsolete? As with many things taught to the younger generations, there always comes some sort of debate on whether or not the knowledge being distributed is actually beneficial to their developing minds in the long run. Will what the schools are teaching them actually help them in their lives as (hopefully) fully functioning adults? Cursive handwriting and whether or not to remove it permenantly from the educational curriculum has been being tossed back and forth. A survey given to handwriting teachers revealed that only 37% of the handwriting teachers wrote in cursive. It used to be that a persons name written in cursive was an important part of their identity, their literal and figurative signature so to speak, but that is no longer the case. • 12. ATLANTA Critique Ever heard of the show ATLANTA? Probably not, on the spectrum of things, it's a show on FX that not many people knew about. And, if you did it was because Donald Glover was the main star of it. Not to say that is the sole reason why people appreciated and watched the show, but it is a part of the reason why. Glover has not only played a part in COMMUNITY, but directed and produced the show itself. He even has an "alter ego," as you would call it, called Childish Gambino who raps under the hip–hop genre. Glover's life is in tip–top shape as far as his resume goes and he has had no issues with finding a job. He recently, this year in fact, announced his new show ATLANTA. First thoughts were confusing; the trailers did not tell much and maybe that was for the best thinking back on it now. The first episode premiered September 6th on FX at 9PM and from the beginning of the first episode I knew this show was going to be something special. The show's minimalistic style, mixed with the rap songs in the background make this show what it is. And, that is a minimalistic masterpiece. The show adapted the ... I remember when I studied in a private school at India, we had to learn cursive. It was not an optional, it was a must and we were pretty much was graded on how neat/good you write it. • 14. Cursive Writing Is The Importance Of Writing As the two positions posed above have stated, it is a matter of grave importance that school and its systems should contemplate the importance of cursive handwriting and whether it should remain or be forsaken as some method of unwarranted use. Whereas both sides have their own opinions, one must consult each and formulate his or her own thought on the matter. For example, though cursive handwriting may be found to be lacking use in today's technologically–fueled society, the benefits of cursive writing in a variety of situations over typing cannot be underestimated. Such fields and the situations concern the modern problems of identity, beneficiary subjects, and strength versus ease. First and foremost, in a society where information is of the utmost importance and is found to be obtained through some method of identity, one must consult what typing, thumbprints, and digital passwords have over the contained chaos that is each and every person's unique, handwritten signature. Whereas the second article opposing the continuation of cursive handwriting said that 'A survey was given to handwriting teachers at a 2012 conference hosted by a lead researcher. The survey revealed that only 37% of the teachers wrote in cursive. If handwriting teachers don't value cursive, then why should anyone?', the author of the article forgot to include several important factors that come to mind. The conference itself was not stated, nor was the amount of attendees, let alone the amount that were teachers. Such a 'fact' if one will think can be easily misconstrued from a formulated lie. Of course, another reason could be that the ones that surveyed the teachers selected a small, biased margin that would otherwise have resulted in contradictory evidence, i.e. useless data. Secondly, 'It used to be that people's written name was an important part of their identity' attempts to convey the idea that one does not use his or her or their signature anymore. However, 'A signature is no longer needed for many legal documents and receipts' would be found incorrect. In the personal experience of the author, every receipt for an order or registration for school, testing or not, has needed a handwritten signature to testify he is actually ... • 15. Cursive Writing In Public Schools Should cursive writing be taught to students in public schools? Personally, I believe cursive writing is a bit outdated in a sense. But I do not see it as a roadblock to any stepping stones if students were taught cursive writing. There are several facts and statements that add to the support of my opinion. Cursive writing is seen as outdated in sorts due to the quickly developing technological world. In 2012, a survey was conveyed amongst handwriting teachers and come to find out only 37% of the teachers used cursive writing. Computer skills and typing are crucial in todays world. Cursive was once used as a form of identification, people's signatures were valued. Where in todays world, signatures are not always used. We now have digital passwords, as well as thumbprints to verify identity. I would argue that cursive writing is proven to help stimulate both the left and right sides of the human brain, while as typing and print do not. It is believed that handwriting goes hand in hand with brain injuries. Tests showed that some people who had suffered brain injuries that affected their writing, typing, or print, could still write in cursive. • 17. Recursive Censorship Is cursive handwriting a thing of the past? For hundreds of years, this style of penmanship has been the main form of written communication, but for a large number of people today, it is a riddle that can not be solved. "The sinuous letters of the cursive alphabet, swirled on countless love letters, credit card slips and banners above elementary chalk boards are going the way of the quill and inkwell. With computer keyboards and smartphones increasingly occupying young fingers, the gradual death of the fancier ABC's is revealing some unforeseen challenges" (Zezima). In today's digital world, some people argue that cursive handwriting is no longer necessary for academic success and has become irrelevant in the classroom. When Common Core was introduced in 2010, many school districts decreased the time spent on cursive while others removed it from the curriculum all together. On the other hand, you have the camp that believes that cursive writing is a dinosaur that is hindering us from making advances in our technological world. I didn't always think in this manner, I originally was a perfectionist. I strived to be the best at everything I did and it stunted my growth in life for quite some time. After I understood the value of my life, I realized the key was to live genuinely; to live for a purpose that was not only important to myself, but to others as well. On the first week of attending Spiritual Life and Growth, I decided to take a break from my commission based job for a few years; I understood the consequences– if I did not sell I did not earn.
