Texas Health Presbyterian Denton Emergency Operations Plan
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a 255–bed hospital featuring more than forty three
specialties, the hospital is located adjacent to a major highway which is used to transport hazardous
materials, commuters and cargo. Texas Health Presbyterian Denton is a suburb of the Dallas–Fort
Worth metroplex, which has an estimated population of seven million residents and covers a
geographical area of approximately 9,000 square miles. The Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex is the
largest metropolitan area in the South and the fourth largest in the United States. The purpose of this
paper will be to evaluate the Texas Health Presbyterian Denton's Emergency Operation's Plan to
determine if it address a comprehensive response to threats, emergencies and disasters while
safeguarding the welfare of its citizens. OBJECTIVE: According to the Texas Health Presbyterian
Denton Emergency Operations plan their objective "is to maintain the continuity of patient care
operations and meet the medical needs of our members and the community." In order to accomplish
this goal they assert that maintaining the safety and security of the organizations staff and volunteers
is the top priority, as the safety of their staff ensures they will be able to accomplish their mission of
providing care for patients, visitors, and the larger community. In addition to their primary goal, they
have also identified a secondary objective of providing supplies and assistance to other Texas Health
facilities.

Homeless Organization
Some people might think that the people living on the streets don't have a home because they didn't
make use of opportunities while they could. Even though that may be true for some, others didn't
have the best childhood and didn't have the money to go to school and be successful. I am here to
give them a second chance and renew themselves. I am creating an organization to build tiny homes
for the homeless. I have done some research about different tiny homes communities. There are
several in the US that have wanted to house the homeless, but none have specifically wanted to
create an organization and expand. One is located in Austin, Texas and they serve the homeless food
with a food truck. My goal is to be able to expand from Texas and go into surrounding states as well.
There are roughly 565,000 homeless people in the US that need our help, 20,000 of those are located
in Texas. If you have ever been to the Dallas Fort Worth area, you have probably seen some around
the streets. Texas has tons of acres of empty land that we can make these communities on and
transport the homeless to these houses to get a fresh start. Speaking of the ... Show more content on

My solution is to spread the word about the organization by putting out flyers, maybe asking the
newspaper to put an ad in, and making a website to gain awareness and to spread the word
everywhere not just in our small town. Sponsors don't have to be just big companies; it can be locals
who want to support us. I was thinking we should have a donation box where you can donate
supplies, furniture, appliances, and even toys and clothes for the kids. Getting furniture and
appliances will cut the cost of the house tremendously. The big sponsors I would love to have would
be Lowe's and Home Depot. They would help us with all the supplies (wood, screws, nail, lighting,

The Coastal Plains Of Texas
The Coastal Plains of Texas is a large area that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to beyond the Rio
Grande. This region can be divided into 5 distinct areas.
PINE BELT:
It extends 75 to 125 miles into Texas from the east and from north to south from the Red River to
about 25 miles of the Gulf Coast. The Pine Belt is practically the source of all Texas' timber
production. Lumber is the principle industry. The climate is good for a variety of fruits and
vegetables. A great oil field discovered in 1931 contributed to the economic growth of the area.
BLACKLAND BELT:
This area stretches from the Rio Grande to the Red River. This area runs through the DFW
metropolitan area. This area is also the most populated with the strongest diversified manufacturing
industry of the state.
COASTAL PRAIRIES:
This area extends along the Gulf of Mexico, from the Sabine River to the lower Rio Grande Valley.
Cattle ranching is the largest and strongest agriculture industry. Along with cattle ranching, rice is
also a very strong crop in the agriculture industry. More principle crops include cotton, grains,
vegetables, and citrus fruits.
LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY:
This low valley is also known as "The Valley." It has the greatest citrus and winter vegetables in
Texas due to the lack of freezing weather. It is ranked very high among the nation's fruit and truck–
farming regions.
RIO GRANDE PLAIN:
This massive plain lies south of San Antonio between the Rio Grande and the Gulf Coast. The

Essay On Black Land Puraries
The black land praries is an endangered ecosystem beginning just south of the red river of the
Texas–Oklahoma border through the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and into the southwestern region
of Texas known as San Antonio. According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife department 99.9% of
black land prarries were lost to other land uses. Now im from Dallas and in my 19 years growing up
inm the area I never once took into consideration how fortunate I was to live in a part of Texas with
such fertile soil. I remember always seeing tv shows or hearing stories that talked about how hard it
was to grow things in Texas considering its heat and dryness And it never once crossed my mind

Anyways I think mostly what my mom was trying to to do was teach us some values and even
though this story is somewhat out of topic the point of the story is the area which I come from is
very desirable and I guess always took it for granted until learning more about it now in this class.
This region was named for its deep fertile black soils that are most commonly found in the area. At
the time of discovery many witnesses that these areas once supported a vast amount of tall grass
praries from big blustems, to little bluestems, indian grass, and switch grass; Now, it is mainly used
for the production of forage crops (wheat and maize) and cattle ranching. Many describe the soils as
dark colored alkaline clays reffered to as black gumbo and gray acidic sandy loams. However the
official terminology for the types of soils available in this area fall mostly under alflsols, vertisols,
and mollisols. To give a couple of brief characteristics of the types of soils, alfisols have a surface
accumulation of clay and about a 35% base of

Life Regard Model
In this study, we investigated the relationship between life regard, perceived social support, HIV
symptom load, forgiveness and optimism. We hypothesized that life regard, perceived social support
and forgiveness would positively correlate with optimism, people who reported HIV symptoms
would be less optimistic than people without HIV related symptoms and that our independent
variables accounted for a significant proportion of variance in optimism. Our results support these
hypotheses, except for a significant difference in optimism between people who reported HIV
related symptoms and those without. Our findings are consistent with current literature regarding the

Proposal On Foster Care
Providing a child with an outstanding support system is a vital key in creating an environment in
which he or she can learn how to grow as a child, and as a human being. Here at American Airlines
we strive to provide children with the absolute highest of quality in foster care. We are pleased to
create a proposal that, we believe, will help the Dallas foster care system improve on some of their
current issues. The proposal aims to not only construct and provide local events to raise awareness
about these issues, but to also host fundraisers geared towards improving the living conditions of
foster children. One of these issues is the overcrowding of current foster homes in the Dallas
metroplex area.
l
Figure 1 shows foster home capacity needs by county: red meaning an under supply of foster homes,
and blue meaning an oversupply of foster homes. From figure 1, we can see that Dallas County is
facing a deficit (undersupplied) of foster homes available to foster children. We can also see from
Figure 1 that the surrounding areas of Dallas, such as: Denton county, Collin county, Kaufman
county, and Rockwall county all have an oversupply of foster homes. This means that children from
Dallas county have no other choice but to move to foster homes outside of Dallas county. This
results in moving away from friends and family, which can be traumatizing to a child. We feel that
this is one of the primary problems we aim to fix in the Dallas foster care system. Early childhood

Integrated Healthcare System Analysis
Briefing Paper 4:
Eric Lombardi–Lopes More and more integrated hospitals and other providers are becoming
prevalent in our community; two large systems in the Dallas Fort Worth area are Texas Health
Resources and the Baylor Scott White systems. What exactly are these integrated hospital systems?
An integrated healthcare system is one that through official agreements or ownership sets up a
horizontal and vertical line of healthcare facilities and services to better deliver seamless healthcare
to patients. An example to use is Texas Health Resources since its found in most corners of the
Metroplex. With any large corporation and system comes confusion and other problems: such as
regulatory obstacles, the complexity of operations, and unclear financial ownerships. Integrated
healthcare systems appear at face value to be the solution to curbing the ... Show more content on

Horizontal integrations mean that all services, facilities, and other patient care needs are acquired
and merged into the integrated system. An example would be a general hospital acquiring or
partnering with other specialized sources of healthcare such as, outpatient facilities, pharmacies,
specialty offices, oncology centers, and diagnostic labs and services. A vertical integration means to
apply factors that do not directly affect patient care, such as medical supplies and drugs, insurance,
financial services, emergency services such as ambulances, and administration responsibilities. A
system that can implement both can afford to provide lower cost care while maintaining quality, if
the system gets to large enough it can also help curb the availability of care. In the Dallas–Fort
Worth area one can see a growth in Texas Health Resources or THR, they own several large general
hospitals, along with free–standing ERs, sports medicine offices, a heart hospital, and many other

The industry estimates that architectural coatings and sundries (brushes, paint removers, thinners,

To efficiently create awareness, JanMar would need to produce a cooperate ad with a retail outlet to
get the buyer in the store. They would also need to increase sales by 8.3% or $1 million to cover the

unreasonable considering the costs of JanMar are unlikely to go down. Cutting price by 20% with
the same variable costs would bring their contribution margin down to 19%. To get the same net
contribution of $4.2 million using their current new contribution margin, they will have to generate
$22,105,264.16 in sales which is far above their past sales of $12 million and creating more volume
to increase sales at this lower cost is not feasible which just one manufacturer in the Dallas Fort

differently from competitors as a superior quality and service company since they are a privately
owned, focused just in the market of southwest United States. 3) Increasing the sales force could
have a positive effect if the sales representative is assigned to the non Dallas Fort Worth area since
account penetration there is only 16% and focusing on the "Do it Yourselfers" because of the amount

The State Of Texas County
In Texas, each county is governed by a five–member Commissioners Court, which consists of a
County Judge (elected at–large) and four Commissioners (elected from single–member precincts).
The County Judge has no veto authority over the decisions of the Court; they have one vote along
with the other Commissioners. In smaller counties, the County Judge also performs judicial
functions, while in larger counties their role is limited to the Court. Elections are based on the
political parties, Democrat, Republican, Independent and sometimes Libertarian. Counties do not
have home rule authority because their authority is strictly limited by the State. Texas counties,
merely exist to deliver specific types of services at the local level as prescribed by state law, but
cannot enact or enforce local ordinances.
254 counties make up the state of Texas. The Dallas metropolitan area is much larger, and is one of
the fastest growing in the country. The 12–county Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington (DFW)
metropolitan area has a population of 6,985,579 and is expected to be 7,960,117 by 2020 (Texas
Population 2020 Projections, 2014). Nearly one million new residents in the DFW metropolitan area
will cause more traffic congestion, the need for new jobs and more housing. People normally like to
live closer to their employers, so the areas with the best jobs will see faster population growth.

Essay on Geography of Dallas
Dallas, Texas "Everything's bigger in Texas," a widely known saying, may very well be true when it
comes to the size of the state, but is everything in Texas really bigger? Researching the Lone Star
state, the second largest state in the nation, Dallas seemed to be the largest city as well as the center
of it all; and it also could be used as a good representation of the state's overall average climate. The
Dallas "metroplex is located in North Central Texas, approximately 250 miles north of the Gulf of
Mexico" (Dallas/Fort Worth Climatology). To appreciate the large and intricate city, it is valuable to
know the climate, vegetation, soils, landforms, and the environmental issues that are present in

Since a good portion of Texas is a desert climate, the soil that is found there, is also an important
aspect. Dallas, located in the northeastern part of the state, has a variety of different types of soil.
The Gulf Coastal Plain is composed of red and yellow soils, which can be beneficial for the
vegetation if proper fertilizer is used (Escape to Texas). Moving more towards central Texas, it has
"soils based on weathered decayed limestone" (Escape to Texas). Much of the Dallas area has
grassland vegetation, which comes from Mollisol soils, which are rich in calcium and other nutrients
(Ritter). The intensely hot summers cause the soil to possess high moisture retention so as not to dry
up easily, but when they do become dry, they have a "granular structure and soft consistency"
(Ritter). A typical soil profile of this soil type would include "dark brown to black organic rich
surface layers" (Ritter). The soil in this area has been used to alter the landscapes, and recently have
been used for "cropland and pasture to grow cotton, corn, sorghum, wheat, hay, and other crops"
(Physical Features Influencing Vegetation in Texas). The soil of Dallas is the base for the landforms
that are present in this certain area. Texas as a whole encompasses several landforms, ranging from
the highest point on the Guadeloupe Peak, all the way to lowest sea level point. Many lakes are

Admissions Essay: Moving To Bridgeport
I was born in Lubbock, Texas at the local hospital and was immediately welcomed into the world by
my loving parents and caring big sister. Most of my early childhood was spent moving from town to
town in the panhandle of Texas. However, when I turned eight–years–old I traded the endless plains

connected with the local community and grew closer with my family.
I am grateful that I moved to Bridgeport because it gave me opportunities to grow and gave me the
support of a small town environment. Bridgeport is located on the northwest outskirts of the Dallas–

In the state of Texas, each county is governed by five–member Commissioners Courts, which
consists of a County Judge and four Commissioners. The County Judge has no veto authority over

smaller counties, the County Judge also performs judicial functions, while in larger counties their
role is limited to the Court system. Elections are based on the political parties, such as Democrat,

Less business regulations have been the key to success in the state and namely in the metropolitan

businesses there is only a gross receipts tax; people and companies are moving to the major cities in

The Assassination Of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy...
November 22, 1963, is a day that lives in infamy. Most Americans remember that day, even those
who were not born, for one reason. The assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy
transpired in Dallas, Texas. His assassination became a topic of controversy as the idea of a lone
sniper committing the act was hard to accept. The assassin would go on to die a few days later.
Media outlets around the nation were in shock. The local Metroplex stations panicked like everyone
else. As a native Texan, correction native Dallasite, I view the Kennedy assassination differently
than most Americans. I want to stick close to my Dallas roots, and analyze what occurred on Elm
Street that day and how the local media covered the event.
The Dallas Metroplex is massive, totaling 10,693 square miles, 12 counties, and over 6 million
inhabitants. The Metroplex being so extensive, it was unlikely that every citizen and every city
reacted to the Kennedy assassination in the same fashion. For that reason, I decided to spread my
sights, and focus on three cities in different parts of the Metroplex. Analyzing the distinct patterns in
their newspaper publications from November 21st to November 25th provides a unique point of
view of how the Metroplex responded as a whole. Once, I have developed a keen understanding of
the media response in the Metroplex; I can compare it to the Warren Commission report and how
they portrayed what occurred in Dealey Plaza on a late November day. The three cities

Before the red sandstone building came to life, there was a county jail that opened in 1897. Initially,
the County of Orange bought land in 1893 from Santa Ana's founder, William Spurgeon, with the

The Henry Ford McCracken case was heard in 1952, and became historically the longest trial in the
Old Courthouse (first floor of courthouse). He was convicted of kidnapping 12–year–old Patricia
Jean Hull from a movie theater and into his cottage in Buena Park. Not only did he sexually assault
her, but killed her. For three years, the media was drawn to his escape of the gas chamber, and was
put to death on Feb. 19, 1954 at the age of 36 (ocregister). Agriculture is an important California
symbol so it is no surprise that there was a case held at the Old Courthouse about agriculture known
as The State of California Vs. The Irvine Company in the 1940s. The Irvine Ranch considered its
hundreds of employees as agricultural workers due to the fact that they worked on a ranch. They
really did mean all of their workers, even the bookkeepers, cooks, and the rest of the office staff.
The State of California sued in 1941 for back taxes after they demanded the company to pay
unemployment taxes on all their non–agricultural workers. However, the court ruled that majority of
the Irvine's employees were agricultural workers by 1942. Aside from cases, the Old Courthouse has
appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows. The earliest movie and TV shows that were shot in
or around the courthouse include: The File on Thelma Jordan (1950), Twilight of Honor (1963),

Persuasive Essay Why Should Zoos Should Be Banned?
Zoos have always been a controversial topic. Some believe zoos are great and support them but
others believe zoos are cruel and should be banned. Everyone has their own views and opinions on
zoos. Many people assume that zoos are horrible, but it is because they are not well informed about
what zoos actually do for animals and people. Zoos are not only a source of entertainment for people
but zoos focus and prioritize on animal care and conservation to help fight extinction of endangered
animals. Zoos also offer many educational programs that help educate people and children about
animals and how important they really are. They also give the opportunity to see an animal people
never thought about seeing. UTA students should support zoos because students need to understand
that zoos are for educational and researching purposes. Although some do not agree, zoos help fight
wildlife extinction, educate, and are also a form of entertainment. Zoos have always been criticized
because some claim that animals are being abused and mistreated due to the lack and care of certain
zoos. However, zoos actually help many animals with research and are critically important for
conservation purposes. People need to understand that zoos have programs that breed endangered
animals as well as rescue programs for exotic animals that people are no longer able to support.
Also, they have many hands on activities that allow people to get more connected to animals. In
addition, zoos do not only focus on animals. They focus on environmental problems/concerns as
well. Zoos help us stay educated about environmental impacts and animal care. The first reason why
students should support zoos is because zoos help fight wildlife extinction. To begin, zoos prioritize
much of their time researching their animals. The zoos' main goal is conservation. In a zoo,
conservation is the big thing. They focus of research, preservation, and support wildlife population
as much as possible. In zoos, they must research to know everything about animals to help them.
They must study the animals' nutrition, social interaction, behavior, and much more. Also, zoos help
endangered animals by taking them to a safe environment. In zoos animals are protected from

The Low Water Levels in Lake Bridgeport
Lake Bridgeport was built in 1930 for flood control, water storage and recreation. Tarrant County
owns the land and water that makes the lake. There is a spillway that takes water through the Trinity
River to Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth. This year has been a rough year for Lake Bridgeport
with three digit temperatures and draining water to the other lakes. Since one of the purposes to
build Lake Bridgeport was for storage, The Tarrant County water district approved to let out 20,000
acre feet of water from Lake Bridgeport to prevent the other lakes to be low. "But 2013 is anything
but a normal year. Today, what once was a scenic lake is covered in chest–high weeds. " Boaters and
fisherman enjoy going to Lake Bridgeport during the summer. But in the summer of 2013 the boat
ramps were unusable so the number of residents going to the lake dropped. There are dead fish
floating to the shoreline as well as many other wildlife animals. The lake tested positive for Zebra
Mussel larva, which is shell like creatures that are very sharp and stick to boats, anchors and docks.
The Mussels are very dangerous for the lake environment, but they also eat bacteria so they could
help the lake water clear up. If no water is drained out of Lake Bridgeport then the residents of
Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth could possibly run out of drinking water.
Problem: The Lake is the place to be on a hot summer day, but how is it supposed to be any fun
when the lake is drying up each day.

The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex
Introduction
The Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex is a great place for business. It is home to multiple companies and
their corporate headquarters – and with an international airport, open trade routes, multiple
universities and academic institutions – it proves to be the perfect location for businesses and
professionals alike. One such company that is headquartered in Plano, TX, and is an example of a
thriving organization in the area, is the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. A mostly domestic company, with
most of its business located in North American and Mexico, the DPS Group is a manufacturer of
nonalcoholic beverages in the beverage industry and is third in overall market share (after Coca–
Cola and Pepsico). The beverage industry is steady and growing, but the nonalcoholic beverage
portion of the industry is facing many challenges with carbonated soft drinks declining in sales due
to a more health–conscious population. Analyzing the DPS Group and how they are dealing with
these challenges was very interesting, as I have always been a Dr Pepper fan and would hate to see
them go out of business or die out in the market. I have known people who have worked for the
company and loved it, and I hope to work for them someday as well. I collected my research on the
company through their website, articles and journals, and my own knowledge of the company and
research into the company history through a visit to the Dr Pepper museum.

This case is about Janmar Coatings, a paint coatings company based in the southwester United
States. The company has come across a dilemma on how to deploy marketing efforts among the
various architectural paint coatings markets served in the southwestern United States.
When looking at the paint coating industry you will find that is separated into three different
segments, architectural, original equipment manufacturing coatings and special purpose coatings.
The segment, which we will focus on, is architectural coatings, which are basically the paints,
varnishes, and lacquers you see in your home or any commercial buildings. Usually architectural
coatings or shelf goods are purchased by do–it–yourselfers. It has been estimated to account for 43
percent of industry market. Nearly 50% of architectural coatings are sold through brands such as
Sears, Lowe's, Wal–Mart, Home Depot and hardware stores such as True Value and Ace hardware.
Despite heavy competition from these mass specialty paint stores, lumberyards, and hardware
outlets have also been able to compete in the paint business Specialty paint stores represent 36
percent of paint and sundry sales and hardware stores and lumberyards represent 14 percent.
As for the company, Janmar Coating, Inc. is a privately held organization produces and markets
architectural paint under Janmar brand name. Paint is not the only item sold under the Janmar brand

nationwide profit. Breweries like Rahr and Sons, sponsor local events and are popping up at
different bars and locations weekly to help, not only their own growth, but to aid in the growth of
local businesses. Another interesting idea that Rahr has begun is connecting the local businesses. For
example, one of their specialty brews of the season is a brew that is created using a combination of
ingredients from another local business, Avoca Coffee. Ideas such as this only reinforce the idea of
aiding in the local business industry and influencing locals to give to their community and help it
prosper. With so many local breweries, and their spread out location throughout the Metroplex, it
ensures that each part of the metroplex has a local brewery nearest to them and can emerge in the
community and nearby bars and

Texas Health Presbyterian Denton Emergency Operations Plan Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a 255–bed hospital featuring more than forty three specialties, the hospital is located adjacent to a major highway which is used to transport hazardous materials, commuters and cargo. Texas Health Presbyterian Denton is a suburb of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, which has an estimated population of seven million residents and covers a geographical area of approximately 9,000 square miles. The Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex is the largest metropolitan area in the South and the fourth largest in the United States. The purpose of this paper will be to evaluate the Texas Health Presbyterian Denton's Emergency Operation's Plan to determine if it address a comprehensive response to threats, emergencies and disasters while safeguarding the welfare of its citizens. OBJECTIVE: According to the Texas Health Presbyterian Denton Emergency Operations plan their objective "is to maintain the continuity of patient care operations and meet the medical needs of our members and the community." In order to accomplish this goal they assert that maintaining the safety and security of the organizations staff and volunteers is the top priority, as the safety of their staff ensures they will be able to accomplish their mission of providing care for patients, visitors, and the larger community. • 7. Homeless Organization Some people might think that the people living on the streets don't have a home because they didn't make use of opportunities while they could. Even though that may be true for some, others didn't have the best childhood and didn't have the money to go to school and be successful. I am here to give them a second chance and renew themselves. I am creating an organization to build tiny homes for the homeless. I have done some research about different tiny homes communities. There are several in the US that have wanted to house the homeless, but none have specifically wanted to create an organization and expand. One is located in Austin, Texas and they serve the homeless food with a food truck. My goal is to be able to expand from Texas and go into surrounding states as well. There are roughly 565,000 homeless people in the US that need our help, 20,000 of those are located in Texas. If you have ever been to the Dallas Fort Worth area, you have probably seen some around the streets. Texas has tons of acres of empty land that we can make these communities on and transport the homeless to these houses to get a fresh start. Speaking of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My solution is to spread the word about the organization by putting out flyers, maybe asking the newspaper to put an ad in, and making a website to gain awareness and to spread the word everywhere not just in our small town. Sponsors don't have to be just big companies; it can be locals who want to support us. I was thinking we should have a donation box where you can donate supplies, furniture, appliances, and even toys and clothes for the kids. Getting furniture and appliances will cut the cost of the house tremendously. The big sponsors I would love to have would be Lowe's and Home Depot. They would help us with all the supplies (wood, screws, nail, lighting, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Coastal Plains Of Texas The Coastal Plains of Texas is a large area that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to beyond the Rio Grande. This region can be divided into 5 distinct areas. PINE BELT: It extends 75 to 125 miles into Texas from the east and from north to south from the Red River to about 25 miles of the Gulf Coast. The Pine Belt is practically the source of all Texas' timber production. Lumber is the principle industry. The climate is good for a variety of fruits and vegetables. A great oil field discovered in 1931 contributed to the economic growth of the area. BLACKLAND BELT: This area stretches from the Rio Grande to the Red River. This area runs through the DFW metropolitan area. This area is also the most populated with the strongest diversified manufacturing industry of the state. COASTAL PRAIRIES: This area extends along the Gulf of Mexico, from the Sabine River to the lower Rio Grande Valley. Cattle ranching is the largest and strongest agriculture industry. Along with cattle ranching, rice is also a very strong crop in the agriculture industry. More principle crops include cotton, grains, vegetables, and citrus fruits. LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY: This low valley is also known as "The Valley." It has the greatest citrus and winter vegetables in Texas due to the lack of freezing weather. It is ranked very high among the nation's fruit and truck– farming regions. RIO GRANDE PLAIN: This massive plain lies south of San Antonio between the Rio Grande and the Gulf Coast. The ... • 11. Essay On Black Land Puraries The black land praries is an endangered ecosystem beginning just south of the red river of the Texas–Oklahoma border through the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and into the southwestern region of Texas known as San Antonio. According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife department 99.9% of black land prarries were lost to other land uses. Now im from Dallas and in my 19 years growing up inm the area I never once took into consideration how fortunate I was to live in a part of Texas with such fertile soil. I remember always seeing tv shows or hearing stories that talked about how hard it was to grow things in Texas considering its heat and dryness And it never once crossed my mind that where we lived (my family and I) never had a problem with growing ... Anyways I think mostly what my mom was trying to to do was teach us some values and even though this story is somewhat out of topic the point of the story is the area which I come from is very desirable and I guess always took it for granted until learning more about it now in this class. This region was named for its deep fertile black soils that are most commonly found in the area. At the time of discovery many witnesses that these areas once supported a vast amount of tall grass praries from big blustems, to little bluestems, indian grass, and switch grass; Now, it is mainly used for the production of forage crops (wheat and maize) and cattle ranching. Many describe the soils as dark colored alkaline clays reffered to as black gumbo and gray acidic sandy loams. However the official terminology for the types of soils available in this area fall mostly under alflsols, vertisols, and mollisols. We hypothesized that life regard, perceived social support and forgiveness would positively correlate with optimism, people who reported HIV symptoms would be less optimistic than people without HIV related symptoms and that our independent variables accounted for a significant proportion of variance in optimism. Our results support these hypotheses, except for a significant difference in optimism between people who reported HIV related symptoms and those without. Our findings are consistent with current literature regarding the relationships between positive constructs such as meaning in life, social support, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Proposal On Foster Care Providing a child with an outstanding support system is a vital key in creating an environment in which he or she can learn how to grow as a child, and as a human being. Here at American Airlines we strive to provide children with the absolute highest of quality in foster care. We are pleased to create a proposal that, we believe, will help the Dallas foster care system improve on some of their current issues. The proposal aims to not only construct and provide local events to raise awareness about these issues, but to also host fundraisers geared towards improving the living conditions of foster children. One of these issues is the overcrowding of current foster homes in the Dallas metroplex area. l Figure 1 shows foster home capacity needs by county: red meaning an under supply of foster homes, and blue meaning an oversupply of foster homes. From figure 1, we can see that Dallas County is facing a deficit (undersupplied) of foster homes available to foster children. We can also see from Figure 1 that the surrounding areas of Dallas, such as: Denton county, Collin county, Kaufman county, and Rockwall county all have an oversupply of foster homes. This means that children from Dallas county have no other choice but to move to foster homes outside of Dallas county. This results in moving away from friends and family, which can be traumatizing to a child. We feel that this is one of the primary problems we aim to fix in the Dallas foster care system. • 17. Persuasive Essay: Title Loans Residents of Frisco, Texas get access to the best that the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex has to offer. For example, the University of Dallas and Amberton University have their campus here. And the Dallas Cowboys' corporate office was in Frisco for a time. As well, many established as well as start–up businesses call Frisco home: After all, conditions are right to grow a customer list and to get financing when you live in Frisco. In short, any opportunity that you could hope to have here, including financial, exists in Frisco, Texas. Now, why would we, a title loan company, bring all of this up? We do this because if you're like most people, we know you probably associate title loans with financial troubles at the end of the month. (You know, emergency money to get you through until you get paid.) Title loans are that, but they're so much more! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, we'd like to become your go–to source for financing no matter why you need to have it. Therefore, the more you know about what we can do for you, the better you're able to make a decision concerning title loans. Title Loans Frisco: Apply Right Here Fortunately, you can even apply for a title loan right here on our website. Dallas, located in the northeastern part of the state, has a variety of different types of soil. Moving more towards central Texas, it has "soils based on weathered decayed limestone" (Escape to Texas). Much of the Dallas area has grassland vegetation, which comes from Mollisol soils, which are rich in calcium and other nutrients (Ritter). The intensely hot summers cause the soil to possess high moisture retention so as not to dry up easily, but when they do become dry, they have a "granular structure and soft consistency" (Ritter). A typical soil profile of this soil type would include "dark brown to black organic rich surface layers" (Ritter). The soil in this area has been used to alter the landscapes, and recently have been used for "cropland and pasture to grow cotton, corn, sorghum, wheat, hay, and other crops" (Physical Features Influencing Vegetation in Texas). • 59. The Assassination Of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy... November 22, 1963, is a day that lives in infamy. Most Americans remember that day, even those who were not born, for one reason. The assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy transpired in Dallas, Texas. His assassination became a topic of controversy as the idea of a lone sniper committing the act was hard to accept. The assassin would go on to die a few days later. Media outlets around the nation were in shock. The local Metroplex stations panicked like everyone else. As a native Texan, correction native Dallasite, I view the Kennedy assassination differently than most Americans. I want to stick close to my Dallas roots, and analyze what occurred on Elm Street that day and how the local media covered the event. The Dallas Metroplex is massive, totaling 10,693 square miles, 12 counties, and over 6 million inhabitants. The Metroplex being so extensive, it was unlikely that every citizen and every city reacted to the Kennedy assassination in the same fashion. For that reason, I decided to spread my sights, and focus on three cities in different parts of the Metroplex. Analyzing the distinct patterns in their newspaper publications from November 21st to November 25th provides a unique point of view of how the Metroplex responded as a whole. Once, I have developed a keen understanding of the media response in the Metroplex; I can compare it to the Warren Commission report and how they portrayed what occurred in Dealey Plaza on a late November day. The three cities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. How Baseball Changed My Life I have been lucky enough to not have many major conflicts or negative circumstances in my life. As I have gotten older, however, I have had to make changes in my life and make decisions based on what I want to do in the future. The biggest change in my life came recently, with what I hoped would be a sports career. I have played sports, it seems, all of my life. I played three at a time when I was very young. Eventually, I decided on playing just one sport, baseball. Baseball has always held a special place in my life and it is my favorite sport. Some of my earliest memories are of hitting a baseball in my backyard. I have played competitive baseball for most of my life, traveling to places around the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and out of the state to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have followed this, as a rule, keeping my grades high and then playing sports. When it was time to start thinking about my future, baseball seemed to fall to the wayside. As my junior year of high school approached, I felt that my chances of making it into college for baseball were very low, as it is an extremely competitive college sport. The top schools in the country recruit the best. I was good, but I did not feel as though I could have continued any further in baseball beyond high school. My future lay in academia. So, I decided to stop playing. It was a drastic change for me. I hadn't known a life without baseball before and I had to convince my dad that I was ready to make this decision. I found myself with more free time that I knew what to do with. I negotiated with my dad and found an academic alternative to satisfy his concerns and fill my abundance of time. My new academic endeavor was found in competing to become part of the NASA HAS Aerospace Scholars program. Being successful in this new type of competitive event convinced my father that I had made the right decision and it is something I am quite proud ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Initially, the County of Orange bought land in 1893 from Santa Ana's founder, William Spurgeon, with the intention to build a courthouse (ocparks). Originally, Orange Courthouse had no courthouse. So, by July 1900, construction began through the use of architect Charles Strange's drawings. They were selected specifically by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Successfully, the 1903 deadline was met considering it got completed by 1901 at a cost of $117,000. He was convicted of kidnapping 12–year–old Patricia Jean Hull from a movie theater and into his cottage in Buena Park. Not only did he sexually assault her, but killed her. For three years, the media was drawn to his escape of the gas chamber, and was put to death on Feb. 19, 1954 at the age of 36 (ocregister). Agriculture is an important California symbol so it is no surprise that there was a case held at the Old Courthouse about agriculture known as The State of California Vs. The Irvine Company in the 1940s. The Irvine Ranch considered its hundreds of employees as agricultural workers due to the fact that they worked on a ranch. They really did mean all of their workers, even the bookkeepers, cooks, and the rest of the office staff. The State of California sued in 1941 for back taxes after they demanded the company to pay unemployment taxes on all their non–agricultural workers. However, the court ruled that majority of the Irvine's employees were agricultural workers by 1942. Aside from cases, the Old Courthouse has appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows. • 65. Persuasive Essay Why Should Zoos Should Be Banned? Zoos have always been a controversial topic. Some believe zoos are great and support them but others believe zoos are cruel and should be banned. Everyone has their own views and opinions on zoos. Many people assume that zoos are horrible, but it is because they are not well informed about what zoos actually do for animals and people. Zoos are not only a source of entertainment for people but zoos focus and prioritize on animal care and conservation to help fight extinction of endangered animals. Zoos also offer many educational programs that help educate people and children about animals and how important they really are. They also give the opportunity to see an animal people never thought about seeing. UTA students should support zoos because students need to understand that zoos are for educational and researching purposes. Although some do not agree, zoos help fight wildlife extinction, educate, and are also a form of entertainment. Zoos have always been criticized because some claim that animals are being abused and mistreated due to the lack and care of certain zoos. However, zoos actually help many animals with research and are critically important for conservation purposes. People need to understand that zoos have programs that breed endangered animals as well as rescue programs for exotic animals that people are no longer able to support. Also, they have many hands on activities that allow people to get more connected to animals. In addition, zoos do not only focus on animals. They focus on environmental problems/concerns as well. Zoos help us stay educated about environmental impacts and animal care. The first reason why students should support zoos is because zoos help fight wildlife extinction. To begin, zoos prioritize much of their time researching their animals. The zoos' main goal is conservation. In a zoo, conservation is the big thing. They focus of research, preservation, and support wildlife population as much as possible. In zoos, they must research to know everything about animals to help them. They must study the animals' nutrition, social interaction, behavior, and much more. Also, zoos help endangered animals by taking them to a safe environment. In zoos animals are protected from ... • 69. The Low Water Levels in Lake Bridgeport Lake Bridgeport was built in 1930 for flood control, water storage and recreation. Tarrant County owns the land and water that makes the lake. There is a spillway that takes water through the Trinity River to Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth. This year has been a rough year for Lake Bridgeport with three digit temperatures and draining water to the other lakes. Since one of the purposes to build Lake Bridgeport was for storage, The Tarrant County water district approved to let out 20,000 acre feet of water from Lake Bridgeport to prevent the other lakes to be low. "But 2013 is anything but a normal year. Today, what once was a scenic lake is covered in chest–high weeds. " Boaters and fisherman enjoy going to Lake Bridgeport during the summer. But in the summer of 2013 the boat ramps were unusable so the number of residents going to the lake dropped. There are dead fish floating to the shoreline as well as many other wildlife animals. The lake tested positive for Zebra Mussel larva, which is shell like creatures that are very sharp and stick to boats, anchors and docks. The Mussels are very dangerous for the lake environment, but they also eat bacteria so they could help the lake water clear up. If no water is drained out of Lake Bridgeport then the residents of Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth could possibly run out of drinking water. Problem: The Lake is the place to be on a hot summer day, but how is it supposed to be any fun when the lake is drying up each day. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex Introduction The Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex is a great place for business. It is home to multiple companies and their corporate headquarters – and with an international airport, open trade routes, multiple universities and academic institutions – it proves to be the perfect location for businesses and professionals alike. One such company that is headquartered in Plano, TX, and is an example of a thriving organization in the area, is the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. A mostly domestic company, with most of its business located in North American and Mexico, the DPS Group is a manufacturer of nonalcoholic beverages in the beverage industry and is third in overall market share (after Coca– Cola and Pepsico). The beverage industry is steady and growing, but the nonalcoholic beverage portion of the industry is facing many challenges with carbonated soft drinks declining in sales due to a more health–conscious population. Analyzing the DPS Group and how they are dealing with these challenges was very interesting, as I have always been a Dr Pepper fan and would hate to see them go out of business or die out in the market. I have known people who have worked for the company and loved it, and I hope to work for them someday as well. I collected my research on the company through their website, articles and journals, and my own knowledge of the company and research into the company history through a visit to the Dr Pepper museum. Breweries In Texas Texas is home to thirty–five operating breweries, but when speaking of the cultural landscape and the effects the breweries have had on the environment around them it is best to relate it to our home, the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Going back to when breweries first got their start in Texas, around 1860, the landscape was the one doing the influencing on the brewing culture. Because, of the lack of refrigeration and the Texas heat, brewers were forced to only create their local brews in the cool months. Due to the environment, lack of technological advances, and law enforcement (prohibition), Texas breweries of the past would not have the impact that they had hoped for when they started. Their presence and involvement in the community influences it's customers to give back to their local community. The younger culture is beginning to show more involvement with giving back to local businesses and helping them to succeed rather than big businesses that focus more on large nationwide profit. Breweries like Rahr and Sons, sponsor local events and are popping up at different bars and locations weekly to help, not only their own growth, but to aid in the growth of local businesses. Another interesting idea that Rahr has begun is connecting the local businesses. For example, one of their specialty brews of the season is a brew that is created using a combination of ingredients from another local business, Avoca Coffee. Ideas such as this only reinforce the idea of aiding in the local business industry and influencing locals to give to their community and help it prosper. With so many local breweries, and their spread out location throughout the Metroplex, it ensures that each part of the metroplex has a local brewery nearest to them and can emerge in the community and nearby bars and ...
