This document discusses examples of existing music magazine covers, contents pages, and spreads that will be used as references for a final magazine product. By looking at layouts from different hip hop magazines, the creator can identify features they like to visualize their desired magazine design. Existing magazines will also be shown to a focus group to get feedback on likes and dislikes to incorporate into the draft magazine cover. This will help the focus group easily pick out elements they prefer from real magazine examples that showcase different conventions.

Here are examples of existing music magazine of front covers, contents page and double page spread. These are the
type of layouts I am going to consider in my final product. By looking at different existing hip hop magazine, I can pick
out different features I like in one to visual what I exactly want for my magazine. However I will show these to my focus
group as well and ask them what they like and what they don’t like as well as the draft I have made. Because by
showing them an existing magazine covers it would be a lot easier for them to pick out certain things they like and
dislike about it. They are also different context from different magazine to get a variety of conventions they use.
