2. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Students have difficulties to pronunce English
Most of students spell English based on the text, they
doesn’t pronunce the words correctly.
Students afraid to make mistakes
Students rarely get An English Pronunciation Lesson
Students rarely practice English pronunciation
3. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
Describing the implementation of Repetition
Drill Technique to improve the students’
pronounciation.
Describing the improvement of the students’
pronounciation.
4. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The result of the research can be useful for students who
want to improve their pronunciation skill.
The result will help the teacher increasing the students’
pronunciation.
The result of the research is used as the reference for
those who want to conduct a research of students’
pronunciation using Repetition Drill Technique.
5. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
Pronunciation is “to say the sounds right, to use the words to
express the appropriate meanings, or construct their sentences in
a way that sounds acceptable”. ( Penny Ur, 1996)
Repetition drill is when Students are asked to listen carefully to
the teacher's model, and then they have to repeat as accurately
and as quickly as possible. (http://eltnotebook.blogspot.com)
Example of Repetition Drill :
Teacher: "Hi, Mark. How's it going?......(repeat)
Students: "Hi, Mark. How's it going
6. RESEARCH METHOD
The writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR)

7. RESEARCH SETTING
Location : MTs Satu Atap Hidayatul Athfal Serang
Subject : 27 Students at grade VII C
Object : Teaching pronunciation in speaking class
using repetition drill method
Time : September 29th - 30th, 2014
8. METHOD OF COLLECTING DATA
Observation
The writer as the teacher interacts with the students
and observes their pronunciation.
Test
The writer used oral test in 3 phase ; Pre-cycle, cycle
1 and cycle 2.
9. TECHNIQUE FOR ANALYZING DATA
To analyze the data of this research, the writer used
two formulas :
Mean Score (Average Score)
Affective Score (in observation sheet)

12. CONCLUSION
Based on the writer’s observation, repetition drill has
been successfully improving the students’
pronunciation. It can be measured that the students
could improve their pronunciation mean score more
than 75, that it was criterion for CAR success. Thus, the
implementation of repetition drills in improving the
students’ pronunciation, especially at VII C of MTs
Satu Atap Hidayatul Athfal Serang is successful.
