Our film genre is crime
drama and aimed at
people aged between
18-28, this is a young
demographic such as
criminal minds
which is a TV show
but the genre is crime
drama.
With this we
can see that the
highest ratings
and votes were
given by
females under
18.
Age demographics for our audience
Criminal minds:
Anatomy of a murder:
This film was in the 1950’s so
the age demographic is much
older and because our
opening is more modern it
will appeal to younger
people.
Because this is a
film from the
1950’s this would
appeal to a more
elderly audience
Our target audience that are females:
The target audience based on gender towards females are a ages from
15-25, the reason why our crime drama film would appeal to this
age demographic is because there are some representations of
characters similar to their age an the audience feel as if they are
seeing representations of themselves. E.g. our character that plays
the dead girl is a young girl which appeals to the target audience
between the ages of 15-18.
Also the main character which plays the detective is a representation
of woman that is independent and is not s stereotypical role this
will appeal to the ages of woman between 20-25 because they feel
that they are watching a representation of themselves.
Our target audience that are males:
Men like to see representations of themselves because they feel more
masculine e.g. in Luther he plays by his own rules, he has respect
and authority. Film noir was when this representation of men
having a higher status in a crime drama film started, these
characters would be the ages between 18-28.
In the crime drama TV show criminal minds gender representation is
shown through authority the main leader of the team is male and
this appeals to the target audience based on gender because the
main character is shown to have more authority. In our film we
have a countertype of gender representation and that the woman
has more authority and this would be interesting to see for men
that only see a man represented in that role.
Target audience on age groups:
Our younger age demographic is the ages between 15-25 this age
would appeal more because they would want to watch this with
friends also females would like to watch something different
because of the countertype role. Males between the ages of 15-20
could also like this because there not seeing a representation of
themselves and it is something new.
Also women that are 40+ wouldn't be interested in modern crime
drama because they are used to seeing film noir and fen fatal and
modern crime drama have not got many representations of elderly
people unless they are the victims in the film.
Target audience:
Our film would be aimed at woman mainly because the film opening
has a lot of countertype representation. An ideal woman for our
film would be someone who has a well established profession and
is middle class, that likes crime drama films. And when she has
free time she socialises with her friends and goes to the cinema.
This is because the main character has similarities such as being
independent and has a well established job also this makes the
ideal woman feel like she is seeing a representation of herself.
Conclusion:
Over all I think that our film opening has broadened itself to many
audiences but mainly young female between the ages of 15-
25, however it will also appeal to men because men like crime
thriller and violence. The 2 characters that we have which are the
detective and the forensic are both created to be a countertype and
would appeal to other cultural audiences.

  • 2. Our film genre is crime drama and aimed at people aged between 18-28, this is a young demographic such as criminal minds which is a TV show but the genre is crime drama. With this we can see that the highest ratings and votes were given by females under 18. Age demographics for our audience Criminal minds: Anatomy of a murder: This film was in the 1950’s so the age demographic is much older and because our opening is more modern it will appeal to younger people. Because this is a film from the 1950’s this would appeal to a more elderly audience

Our target audience that are females: The target audience based on gender towards females are a ages from 15-25, the reason why our crime drama film would appeal to this age demographic is because there are some representations of characters similar to their age an the audience feel as if they are seeing representations of themselves. E.g. our character that plays the dead girl is a young girl which appeals to the target audience between the ages of 15-18. Also the main character which plays the detective is a representation of woman that is independent and is not s stereotypical role this will appeal to the ages of woman between 20-25 because they feel that they are watching a representation of themselves.
  • 5. Our target audience that are males: Men like to see representations of themselves because they feel more masculine e.g. in Luther he plays by his own rules, he has respect and authority. Film noir was when this representation of men having a higher status in a crime drama film started, these characters would be the ages between 18-28. In the crime drama TV show criminal minds gender representation is shown through authority the main leader of the team is male and this appeals to the target audience based on gender because the main character is shown to have more authority. In our film we have a countertype of gender representation and that the woman has more authority and this would be interesting to see for men that only see a man represented in that role.

Target audience on age groups: Our younger age demographic is the ages between 15-25 this age would appeal more because they would want to watch this with friends also females would like to watch something different because of the countertype role. Males between the ages of 15-20 could also like this because there not seeing a representation of themselves and it is something new. Also women that are 40+ wouldn't be interested in modern crime drama because they are used to seeing film noir and fen fatal and modern crime drama have not got many representations of elderly people unless they are the victims in the film.
  • 7. Target audience: Our film would be aimed at woman mainly because the film opening has a lot of countertype representation. An ideal woman for our film would be someone who has a well established profession and is middle class, that likes crime drama films. And when she has free time she socialises with her friends and goes to the cinema. This is because the main character has similarities such as being independent and has a well established job also this makes the ideal woman feel like she is seeing a representation of herself.

Conclusion: Over all I think that our film opening has broadened itself to many audiences but mainly young female between the ages of 15- 25, however it will also appeal to men because men like crime thriller and violence. The 2 characters that we have which are the detective and the forensic are both created to be a countertype and would appeal to other cultural audiences.
