How does my media product represent particular social
1.
2. There are five main areas when
considering different type of social
groups:
Age
Gender
Race
Class
Sexual Orientation
Most of these areas where
represented in our media product.
3. In our media product our target
audience is 16-30 year-olds so
it was appropriate to try and
use mainly young characters so
that the audience could try and
relate themselves to the
characters in the product.
Because our theme was a crime
thriller we didn’t have to worry
to much on age social groups as
the main focus is on the story
ploy and not social
relationships.
4. In our Media Product we had more
focus on the male gender, this is
because male’s are more commonly
k own with crime and strength so we
stuck to the conventions of a thriller
and used male characters, in our
piece the cop is shown as a scruffy
rule breaker which makes the
character more interesting as the
audience can never sure what he is
going to do next. The picture show
the policemen's shirt un tucked and
messy.
5. There is no specific racial group
within thriller films so it never really
mattered what racial group we used.
In our piece we had a mainly white
cast, this was not done intentionally
as the people in our group are all
white racial groups.
6. In thriller films you have many low
class people and hardly no high class
people, this is why we went with a
casual police officer and not a
detective as we wanted to stick to
the conventions of a traditional
thriller film. Another example is the
killer who is extremely poor and
comes from a checked past which
explains why he has lead to a life of
crime.
7. Our product does represent any
representation of sexual orientation
within our film, thriller films do not
often evolve around this category
and this is why we didn’t follow that
area.
