A-Analyze Learners
o The age range of students in my class is 10-11.
o 12 students are female; the other 8 students are male.
o The students are in 5th
grade.
o 2 students in my class have ADHD.
S-State Objectives
o The students will gain information about the Civil War and the president during this time. They
will also examine the Emancipation Proclamation. The next day students will examine the
assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The students will be presented with a WebQuest to
obtain knowledge about the Civil War. The students will listen to a podcast to learn about
Abraham Lincoln, and read an article on the Emancipation Proclamation. Once students
complete their WebQuest they will turn in their assignment to be graded. The next day the
students will then visit a blog that talks about the assassination of JFK. Here students will
answer the question provided on the blog in the comments section. At the end of the lesson the
student will know about the Civil War and JFK’s assassination with 95% accuracy.
S-Select Methods, Media, & Materials
o First the students will listen to a podcast about Abraham Lincoln, the President of the United
States during the Civil War. The students will be presented with a link to a WebQuest to explore
the Civil War. The students will also read an article on the Emancipation Proclamation using a
QR code. The students will do as the WebQuest says and answer the questions accordingly. The
students will submit their papers to me to be graded. The next day the students will learn about
the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The students will go to my blog and answer the
question in the comments box. This should be done in a timely fashion.
U-Utilize Media & Materials
o The students will obtain knowledge about President Abraham Lincoln by listening to a podcast.
They will explore the Emancipation Proclamation by scanning a QR code. The students will also
complete a WebQuest to explore the Civil War and what happened. The next day the students
will obtain knowledge about the assassination of JFK by visiting my blog and reading the articles
provided there. The students will then answer the question in the comment box of my blog to
receive credit.
R-Require Learner Participation
o The student will be required to turn in their WebQuest paper when it is completed. They will
also be required to demonstrate their knowledge and opinion of John F. Kennedy’s assassination
by replying to my blog.
E-Evaluate & Revise
o The student will answer the questions on the Civil War and assassination of JFK before they
receive credit for both. They must first evaluate and read more to discover the answers they
need to sufficiently reply to each question.
