1. Pinterest is a virtual pinboard sight that allows you to pin (collect) images from the Internet. You can
create boards to help categorize the images you’ve pinned, and you can also add descriptions to help
you remember why you saved each image. To join Pinterest you must first make an account. But, don’t
worry—it’s completely free! You can join Pinterest through Facebook or Twitter; however, if you do not
want to do that you may also join through your email address. Once you’ve verified your identity you
can get on the Website and pin whatever you want. Pinterest can be used to promote any type of
collaboration—from Kindness in Kindergarten to Critical Thinking in a Writing Classroom. You can create
a board and pin ideas you like there, then you can have your students get on said board and
agree/disagree with what you have. You can use Pinterest in the classroom to start a discussion, but
you can also use Pinterest to help you get ideas for your classroom. For example, if you’re not sure what
kind of activity to do you can search Pinterest and come up with a solution. Many of the images on
Pinterest have links where you can find free printable activities or do-it-yourself instructions to complete
the task at hand.
