1. ASSURE Method for Thursday: American Involvement/End of War
Analyze Learner: High school history students in the 10th
grade. The class consists of 23
students with 13 being male and 10 being female. The students are good visual learners.
There is one student in the class who cannot walk and uses a wheelchair with an aide.
State the Objective: The students will be learning about the American attitude’s about
war before they got involved, why they got involved, and the key people that were
involved with the American forces. The students will also learn about the ending of the
war. The students will participate in class by looking at a poster I made that shows
Woodrow Wilson’s 1916 slogan and shows the American attitude towards war at that
time. We will then look at a Voki I made and a webpage I posted from to my Twitter and
Facebook account to show the students why America did get involved in the war, and
look at a board on pinterest I made to show them some pictures of America in the war..
We will them look at a webpage linked to a QR that I made that will explain how the war
came to an end. The student’s will participate in class by being involved in a discussion
at the end of class about how they feel about the American Involvement. There will also
be a pop quiz given at the end of class that will cover what we have learned. This will all
be done on the fourth day (Thursday) of the Unit Plan. After Thursday the students
should be able to explain America’s involvement in the war, and why the war ended with
90% accuracy.
Select Media Method Materials: I will be using a poster I made using PowerPoint, voki,
post from Facebook and Twitter, pinterest, and a QR link for this assignment. I will also
use a word document to give the pop quiz.
Utilize Media Method Materials: I will use the poster to show the kids the Woodrow
Wilson slogan. I will then use the Voki I made, webpage from my Facebook and Twitter,
and pinterest to learn about America becoming involved in the war. We will also link to a
QR to see how the war came to an end. I will be using the word document to give the
student’s a pop quiz on what they have learned today.
Require Learner Participation: The students will only have to pay attention and take notes
in today’s class. There will however, be a pop quiz at the end of class on what we have
learned.
Evaluate and Revise: The evaluation for today will be a pop quiz containing three
questions. These questions won’t exactly be the most difficult but will make sure the
Student’s got the major points of the lesson.
