4. Classroom usefulness
This lesson would be used as a review for a final exam, or an end of
quarter exam. Since I am not currently teaching the material, I am
unsure of the exact content covered by an 8th grade American
History class. I think this would be a purposeful lesson because the
kids can review the material without seeing the answers on the
page. It would also allow them to do the review online without
printing out the PowerPoint. Any number of QR codes could be
used to add audio, video and text material to aid in the review of the
material.
While this same review could be accomplished by hyperlinking the
URLs in on-online document on the teacher’s website, blog or
Moodle course; students may find the QR codes new and
interesting and could be more likely to complete the entire review.
One concern is that not all students will have access to a device that
will scan the codes. My daughter who is a Junior in high school
says there are several students in her classes without smartphones
and the cameras on the one-to-one devices provided by the school
do not seem to have a high enough resolution to read the QR codes.
