think the reason for this is because the artist is so famous
there does not have to be a photo of him to advertise the
album.
This album genre of music is
Hip-hop/Rap. And these are
often stereotyped to link in
with crime, graffiti etc. And I
think this is the reason why
this kind of text has been used.
It helps link in with the artist
and can also relate to the
audience. The writing is quite
dark compared to the brown
background making it quite
bold and eye catching.
There is a very clear back of the
digipak, to show the songs on the
album and some extra information.
Although the album will mainly sell
its self it helps to advertise what is on
it, to make people even more
interested.
The whole digipak is linking in with the stereotypes of this
genre of music. And I think the reason for this is to
connect with the audience, to give them something they
can relate too. And if they feel they can relate to the
packaging of the CD they would expect to relate to the
music on it. Enticing them to buy the album.
