1. Media Pitch Document
This is my media pitch. I chose the song The Pianist by the artist General Degree.
It is a Reggae song from the 1990’s. I chose to do this song as my music video
because I thought it was quite a fun song. Its got a good beat to it, I think it is
quite a funny song aswell because it has 2 meanings. One of the meanings is that
she likes the pianist in his band. But also the pianist is a metaphor for a male
genital area. I wanted to do it because I feel reggae is quite a unique genre of
song. I don’t think I would be done much at A-level so it will set me apart from
other people and we can be as creative as possible
The narrative for my music video is hopefully going to be a girl walking down a
street to see a boy at his work. And she wants him to show her his band. He
shows her his band by each time he says one of the positions. E.g. ‘Heres my
bassist’. Then a person with a bass will appear on the shop floor. And at the end
of the narrative the girl leaves the shop with the pianist. Leaving the main man
alone in his shop. Where it will fade out.
My music video will be in widescreen format. I think the rating of this music
video will be a PG because although his lyrics have two meanings. Nothing is
outright rude or offensive. It’s subtle.
The other music videos that have influenced my decision were Sean Kingston’s
song beautiful because his is also set in a shop. And I imagine my person to look
similarly to that style of person.
I will demonstrate my creativity by having a varied amount of shots. Which will
be interesting for the audience to watch. I think that the shop I film in is also a
good shop for filming in as there is a bit of space so two people could fit in easily
and more could If I feel the need to add more people.
Finally, My target audience will be both for males and females. They will be
between the ages of 16-25 generally as I think that this age range will be able to
relate more than older or younger people. The type of person will be a person
who likes to relax. Doesn’t like heavy music or loud music but likes to relax after
a long day at work or college.
