For my ideas and mind maps I have a few things that I would like to look at each and every different aspect as even though
what I will be doing for my client is photography work there is still a lot more ideas that I can look in to and do. As with
photography I have a few different aspects that I can look at as first with my photos I can see about taking photographs
outside, around the building for the fact that they do own a lot of land and it is lovely country side and then they even have
sheep on this land too which with the weather getting a little warmer this can do for some great photographs. The next
option I have is more of architecture photograph of the the actual building for the fact that it is this old building that is
beautiful and could make for some really good photographs if the weather is good as well. As I would be able to get all kinds
of different shots of the building either up close or from the drive away. Lastly some other photographs that I will be get is
from inside which I feel like with this I can hopefully go into a lot more detail with the images as inside the building is filled
to the brim with different pieces of detail so I hope I am able to get some close photographs of the rooms but also some
long shots of the whole rooms. Here is my mind map of just a

3. Mind Maps/Brainstorms
My idea as well is that after I have taken the photographs I will then go a head and use some post production on them as
well. So that this way I will cause a range of different photographs to give to my client. So I will keep my original photograph
to show them but then I will go a head and change things about the photograph to make them better or to just enhance
certain things of the photograph so that the detail stands out a lot more for the simple fact that the building is full of detail.
After this I could even put some of the photographs in black and white as well and just have a play around with some of the
photographs but I still want to keep them professional and not go down the road of more experiment based photography as
this is not what the company will what due to the fact they are a professional company that holds a lot of events. As well as
this I will also give them the photographs in different sizes as I'm not too sure what they would like to use the photographs
for so I feel like if I put them in different sizes they would still be able to use these photographs for things like their
Instagram and Facebook as well. As I found that when I googled them and looked at the photos they use on their Instagram
they are blurry and too big as they use the same for their Facebook.
Here is some examples that I have took of their Instagram to show just some examples of
the blurry photographs that they have on their Instagram this is due to resolution being
too high for Instagram so when they are making their photographs smaller to be put on to
the social media platform you are losing the quality of the photographs which for their
business can be a bad thing. Hence why when I take my photographs I will make sure to
change the resolution and size incase they would like to use them for their social media
platforms. The first example I found was with a range of other photographs and it was only
this one I found was bad for resolution and being blurry but this I found could be for a few
reasons my first guess is that the other photographs have been taken with a camera where
as this one with a mobile phone. You can tell by the colouring and the resolution of the
photographs. The second example I found was off a wedding which will have been taken by
camera I imagine but the funny thing about this image is that even on their Facebook you
will find it to be full sized but still blurry and unclear.
When looking at their Facebook as well I'm finding that their daily photographs they post aren't of
too high standard and that the majority have been taken on a mobile phone which you can still
get some great photographs but for a company of this standard you would expect more better
photographs at times. Hence why I have offered to do some free work for them so that they are
able to use these photographs if need too. As this photo I found on their Facebook still has this
blurriness to it as someone has taken it on their phone without focusing or moved while taking it.

Here is Carlton Towers and
Castle Howards Instagram feeds
as they are both similar with
the companies they are. As they
both hold a lot of events but
Carlton Towers focuses more on
weddings as well. When looking
at both of their feeds you can
see how they are both similar
with the fact that a lot of their
photographs are based around
nature so on their feed you can
see a lot of these green shades.
But they both have a similar
feed but I have seen that they
both do have a few differences
if you take Castle Howard for
example has a lot of
photographs of the building and
surrounding area. With this you
can see that the photographs
are too professional but they
also don’t look like they have
been in post production. But
they show a lot of detail and
the photographs are clear to
see. Where as Carlton Towers
has a lot of random
photographs which you can tell
are off someone's phone and
some have been doe on
camera. But still they don’t
have the best quality
compared.
Also their feed doesn't seem to be as well put together for the fact they have a lot of random photographs of the place but also they have a lot
of event photographs. So compared I do feel like I prefer Castle Howard for the fact that it is put together well and their photographs used aren't
as random.

5. Here is just a few shades of green I picked up as I hope that when I do my photographs that I will also have these kind of shades.
But this can all depend on the weather that I get when I go out to take these photographs. As depending on what the weather is it
can change the kind of shades I get within the photograph and I'm hoping to do this on a sunny day so that not only are my
photographs for inside lit with natural light but also so that my photographs outside look nice and have a summary/ spring vibe to
them. So I will need to plan when I take my photographs at a right time. As the best light you do get is either at sunset or sunrise.
Which I dot feel like at this time I will be able to get photographs of the inside where as I may be able to get some photographs of
the outside at this time but this is something I will have to speak to them about.
Here is some screenshots I got of the building and the surrounding area from their video
they have when you first go on their website. As you can see this is why I got my different
shades of green as with the building being in the country side they have a lot of greenery
so when I am taking photographs of the outside this is what you can expect to see but I
feel like with my shots that I take outside I will be looking at more close up shots and kind
of bokeh.
Here are some examples of passed work I have done of nature photographs and as you
can see this is something that I would like to take on when I do this work as well. As with
this you are able to see a lot of the detail as you are getting close up shots but also having
a bit of detail in the background to really add to the image. But if the weather stays sunny
for me when I am doing my production they these are the kind of colours that you will
see through out some of my work. Majority of these have been taken during midday
which can also be a good time for taking nature photographs as the sun is at its peak.
Even though it would be lovely to get these photos during golden hour.
So if you compare my already existing photographs to the stills I have of the surround
area of the building you can see how my work can work as they have a lot of nature and
some good aspects and angles to get at. Especially around this time when you have the
blue bells coming out as well which I think will take for some great photographs as the
purple contrasts with the green around it. I also have my eye on a swing they have on a
tree as I feel with the right angles it can be a wonderful photograph to get as long as I get
different angles. So that I have multiple photographs to choose from at the end.

6. Here is some photographs that I have taken already of inside
the building. These are 3 years old so I have improved since
then with lighting and angles that I am able to get. But I feel
like these are a starting point of helping me with knowing
what is already inside and the things that I will be able to
photograph again. As I feel especially with things like the
stain glass windows I will be able to get better photographs
of these and work more with the light and trying to get more
of that detail. As I feel like their photographs my client was
suspect to see as much. I also feel like from looking at these
photographs when I go to take my photographs something I
really do need to work on is my lighting and to take
photographs that will light up rather then have this very dark
look to them. Which is why I am think more towards the fact
of taking photographs during midday when the sun should be
at its highest so that I am able to work with this light as the
building is covered with windows so I am hoping this will help
the issue of my photographs coming out too dark. I feel like I
need to work on my photographs of the entrance and to try
different angles so that I am able to get the close ups I want
but also long shots so that although I will be getting a lot of
detail people will be able to see the full picture as well. As I
feel like in post production this is something that will really
pop out more with the nice rich orange, brown colours. I also
like this little building that they have near the gate and I feel
like with some nature photographs of blue bells near by I feel
like this can make for a great photograph.
But from looking at all these photographs that I have found
from last time I took some photographs of Carlton Towers I
really do need to work more on my lighting as a lot of these
photographs are dark and dull and I feel like the reflect the
building wrong. As yes it can seem quiet lonely when you go
to visit but it is also the heart of the village and can be lively
and that is something that I want to show more. So before I
go to take my photographs I need to work on light and how I
am able to work with it rather then against it like I have with
these photographs.

Here is the video of the opening when you go on to Carlton
Towers website, https://carltontowers.co.uk , As you can see
it shows Carlton Towers very well. But not only are you able
to see the outside of the building but also a lot of the
surround area and just how big it is. But your also able to see
the rest of the houses within Carlton so you can see how
close it is. I think this is a lovely video to open the website
with. But your able to see the contrast of all the colours and
how well the building has been put together.
This building has been around since 1991 and is described as Victorian Gothic country house which is why I think its
different from other country houses like Castle Howard as they don’t have this gothic twist to it like Carlton Towers does.
But due to its look the building has managed to bring TV Shows to the small village, the most current TV show to use this
location was Victoria. As they building the part as Windsor Castle in the series which it has then had a lot of comments on
how it looks very much similar in style.
But you will notice Carlton Towers helps a few small business especially one that it keeps on site to people who live in the
village, The little Black Dog which producers beer. So Carlton Towers isn't shy to helping out the town. As a few years back
they also had the annual Village feast a day full of dressing up and family fun up until it was moved to the village hall, as
Carlton Towers started to have more animals that took over the land. Carlton Towers really does try and give to the people
surrounding it with its weekly events put on.
Whether it’ a small brunch for mother day or a
firework display for bonfire night. They really put
there all to their events.
With the building being so close to the houses even
when weddings are on the village are still able to
see the firework displays and the most important
part of the building no matter where you are in
Carlton majority of the time you are still able to see
the clock tower which has the motto Meulx Serra
which is French for It will be better.

9. Mood Board
Here I have done a mood board to show the different kind of photographs that have been taken of Carlton Towers and
inside as well. This is more something that I will take inspiration for as well for when I go take my own photographs. As I am
wanting to take photographs inside and outside so that I can get a lovely range for my client. When taking photographs of
the outside I have found some that I am able to take some inspiration from. As I found that when researching them you will
find that a lot of them are all in different angles and this is something I would like to take on in my own work. As I would like
to get a photograph of the building as I am walking up the drive way so that your able to get a full feel of it . But then when
closing to the building I feel like this when I would start to get different angles photographs of the building. I have one
photograph that I have done with York minster that I would like to try and do with Carlton Towers or at least try and see if I
would be able to do it. As they are two different buildings so it could be tricky.
I feel like this kind of photograph would be nice to try with the building but it will
be tricky as with doing so I wouldn't be able to capture the tower into the actual
photograph. So I feel like this is more something I could experiment with doing
and just seeing how it turns out to be like. As I feel like depending on where I do
it, then it could turn out to be a good photograph if I tried this kind of style where
they have all the ivory. But all this depends on the weather as if it is a good
weather day I'm having then this kind of photograph comes out best due to the
fact that you can see a bit of the sky with it. So if it’s a sunny day this will then
reflect and will help especially with the contrast of colours and to add a vibrant
colour in to the photograph compared to the building.
With my mood board I have a few photographs to show the inside which is things I would like to do. A lot of them you will
find are of the full rooms. Which is something that I would like to do as I would like to take photographs of the whole room
so that I can show case it all off and I know this is something that my client would be able to use. But at the same time I
would like to get photographs of a lot of the detail that the building has to offer especially close up. As I feel like they still
would be able to use these photographs on their social media a little bit. But I think it will be a different kind of photograph
for them to have and to try and use. As I have noticed when searching them a lot of their photographs are of the full rooms
which I think this way can lose some of the detail in the rooms for the fact that there is so much. So I feel like by doing this
mood board you are able to see a variety of what it is I would like to do and try accomplish myself. As I am hoping to take as
many photographs as I can to use. As this way I know that I will have a lot that I hopefully will like and use.

10. Idea 2
Here are some photographs that I have
found by the same photographer that I
would like to take some inspiration
from. As I like the photographs that
they have taken and the fact that they
have been able to take a full
photograph of the room. The thing that
will make my photographs a lot
different from theirs for starter is the
fact that they have used a difference
lens from just a normal camera. You
can tell with the photograph in the left
hand corner as the photograph has
more of a curve so that they were able
to fit everything in to the photograph.
Its similar to using a fish eye lens. I feel
like these kind of photographs will be
perfect for my client as they are
showing the whole rooms so they are
good for using on their website or just
simply using them on their social
media platforms. I feel like by taking
photographs like this I am giving my
client more of that range as I am
wanting to take both close up detailed
photos and full room photos.
When looking at these photographs I think they do have a lot of great aspects with them as
they do show detail and the colours in the photographs really do pop out. When looking at
the photographs I noticed that they all seem to have a fade on them. Even though the
colours in the photograph are bright you can see that they could be brighter as there seems
to be this fade on the photographs. I like the fact that with these photographs you are still
able to see a lot of detail so I feel like this is something that I would like to aim towards but
to still do them in my won way. As when looking at some of these I can see how I would do
them in my own way so with the first photograph I would have some more of the stairs in
the photograph.

11. Idea 3
Here is an example of what I would like to do for my client with doing post production to my
photograph so that my client I will have a range of photographs to choose from at the end. But this
way they will still be able to see the original as well. I think this way its easier with a range of
photographs as they are able to use which one they prefer rather then me just sending the original
photograph and them not liking it as much. Where as if I send a range they have a higher chance of
liking at least one of them.
I think what I will mainly do is send them the original photograph, but then have one image that will
be high with saturation so that I will be able to make more of the colour and detail to stand out in
the photograph. If you look at the second photograph I have you will see that the tree now stands
out a lot more compares to the white background. Where as with the original it blends in so I made
the saturation and contrast a lot higher. Then I think I will send a black and white copy as well, as
even this can be a good photograph to have sometimes. But I'm still debating if this will be a good
thing for this company as their building has a lot of detail that I will need to try and show off. So my
biggest bet is working more with saturation, contrast and brightness. As I feel like these are the
things that will really help work with that detail.

12. Here are some more photographs that I
have already taken of Carlton Towers
but more the animals that they have on
their land. This is to showcase some
more ideas that I may have for the fact
that they still have these animals on
their land so I feel like it would be nice
to take some photographs of them so
that they have a range to choose from
and also because I noticed when
searching that this isn't something that
anyone else has done. The only people
that have taken photographs of the
sheep is the people that work with
them. So I feel like I could take some
photographs of them and then they
could use this for things like their social
media platforms.
This way I'm able to give them a wide
range of all kinds of photographs to
choose from. When they come to look
at what I have done. But this way I am
thinking of all aspects of photographs
that I could take for my client.
When taking these kind of photographs
I will make sure that I do different kinds
of post production on the photographs
and even make them into different sizes
so that my client will be able to use
them for different things.

13. Evaluation of idea
What do you like about the idea?
For my idea I think it is very limited on what it is that I am able to do and what I am able to come up with. I like a lot of my
ideas and what it is that I have come up with for the fact that there will be a massive range of photographs that I will
hopefully produce. As I will first start off with producing photographs of the surround area as they have 2500 acres of land.
Which I think can take for some good photographs if the weather holds up as they even have some wild life around that I
think would be nice to take photographs off. With just one photograph I would do different kinds of post production on it
and then I would change the size of the photograph too so that they would have different options to choose from and some
that will be better for their social media accounts like Instagram.
Does it match what the client wants?
In a way this does match what my client would like. As all my client told me that they would like to see is photography which
is what I'm doing. But then I will go out of my way to then change it for things like their social media.
Are you capable of delivering this?
I am cable of doing this due to the fact that it is quiet easy work and something that I am used too. I also feel like I will be
able to get it done on time. But I think I will also need to maybe search some things on Photoshop so that I am able to make
my work stand out a lot.
Can you do this on time?
I feel like I will get all this done on time as all I need to do is take my photographs and then change them and do some post
production on Photoshop. So I feel like I will be able to get it done and dusted just in time as its not a project where I will
need to do a lot of work.
Do you have the resources available to do this?
Yes I do as I will be using my own camera but then I will also get a camera from college to use and a tripod just in case as
due to the light this is something that would be good to use for long exposure so I get all the light as sometimes the rooms
could be a little too dark. I then have Photoshop to use at college too. Other then this there isn't anything else that I will
need.

14. 2 Weeks into my client work and I have had to change my client due to some issues. This was a project I was really looking forward too as I felt it
would be something that I am good at and would show case my talent off well. But since starting this I have had problem with my client for
example it took a while to get a brief back and when I did finally get one it was not at a standard I would have liked. It wasn’t really helpful to
what my client would like to see from my work that I am offering to do for them for free. As all they had written was that they would have liked
to have seen photography from me which yes it was I had offered to do but they could have written more to help more on my end as well. I then
managed to arrange a day that I would go up and take my photographs for them which I had also started to do in my own time as well. But when
getting there I was told that the building and grounds was not open to public and that they had double booked. As they had booked one of their
clients to come and film their music video at the house as well. Then offered that I could arrange to come another time. But this was something
that I wasn’t able to do as much as with this project only being a month and a bit I didn’t have time to wait around to get my production started.
So since this I have chosen a new client which have already been very helpful as I have already had time to start production for them and take
photographs. I also have a brief written from them as well so hopefully I will be able to catch up with work that I need to get done already and
able to produce work for my new client which I feel like will really help me for the fact that it is out of my comfort zone. But I also know that with
this client I am able to email them and they will help me as much as possible as they are hoping to use the work I produce.
Here is some of the work that I had
started to do. As this was the house
that I was going to take photographs
off but when on a walk to the local lake
I had taken these as well. As I feel like
this would have been a different angle
to take the photographs from. But now
these I don’t need really but I am still
able to use them for things like
portfolio work.
You then have the brief as well which
you can see is something very hard to
work off. As yes even though it gave me
freedom to do whatever I would have
liked I would have still liked the, to give
me some guidance of what they would
have liked to see. As it would have
really helped me while still giving me a
bit of that freedom to do what I would
have liked.
I have now chosen to do The Little Black Dog which is a local
brewery in my village. Which is still located in Carlton Towers
so it is very close and some of my research I will be able to use
in a way. But only some of it.
