2. Research
In my research the strengths are the following angle, colours that have been chosen, the types of effects that
have been chosen, different brightness and darkness, one main colour and how everything has been placed
on the page. Firstly with the angles that have been chosen from the pictures from the power-point research.
So like with these the pictures which I had chosen for this power-point they have chosen specific areas of
how they should capture the image at one angle. This is how the brightness, shades and this is how it affects
the colours. So with the brightness this changes the affect of the colours that have been even made lighter
or darker depending on where it has been taken and how the light differs on the object in the photograph.
As this helps my product by doing the following to make the camera at a specific angle because of how this
makes the lighting and shadows, as this makes the colours different to be brighter or darker depending on
how the lighting should be shone on to the main feature in the photograph. Following with the colour that
have been chosen for the main feature and the background are both good because firstly with the
background colour its not to over powering that’s going behind the main feature.
3. ResearchAs this makes the main feature of the photograph as this makes the main feature much more powerful and
takes over from the background colours, on how it depends on the type of photograph. Also the following
the different types of effects such as blurred, black and white. With the blurred effects which they have
chosen is the background to less focus and so more focus on the HD photograph that’s main image as this
takes the main focus of the photograph on that specific image. Also with the main feature effects they have
made the main colours stand out more such as the more brighter colours of just one of these colours than
another colours in the photograph. This has helped me by putting this in my own product into some of my
individual photographs by using the close up photography to make the main colours of them to stand out of
the whole photograph of which I have done in some of my photographs. Which is for the close up ones only.
Also with the strengths of the research which the way this power-point has helped me by of how they have
set out their portfolios of photos on to the page and also with a bit of writing in with a sub-title as well.
The weakness of my research was that I could have put on my research is that some different types of
photographs of how they where taken in different ways and more in a portfolio type of image. Also in
different types effects of images of spring photography. Could have done more analysing.
4. Planning
For the planning for my product I had used the website bubbl.us to make my own mind maps on there. So firstly I
had made three ideas for FMP, so for the first idea was building photo of churches and old buildings around
York. The second FMP idea was portraits photography of a variation of diversity of old people and then going
to young people too. Then lastly the third one is on the spring photography of animals, insects, birds,
landscapes and flowers. These little mind maps where good because they had short quick notes that only I
know what I meant but as this may come as a bad thing because as if some else looks at my mind maps. Then
making another mind map on bubbl.us to make the final FMP to write down notes of my ideas of what I should
write down to put into my photography portfolio. As this was helpful to write down notes of what I was
thinking of but I couldn’t see what I was thinking of visually as an image wise. As this was a weakness because I
couldn’t visually see the image of what I was writing when I was discussing about it on the mind map. As on the
other half of my strengths of this planning was that with the mood board it gave me more views on how I
should set out my own work of my photography of the numerous ones for my own spring photography for my
own final project to give me expression of how my own photography should be like. From going off the mood
board to the analysing of what they have associated in their own photography of what they have captured and
then from this what I have seen in the photos in the mood board of captured from them of what I had to point
out. But however also this was helpful because of they got there pictures like that how I do mine sort of like the
pictures in the mood board. Such as the colours, tones, images styles, and the mood. As this was good strength
by how in this power-point of how all of these little things has influenced in my own photography in its own
way, as all in one. However I could have written more on about image style, mood and the tone going in the
through the photographs. The sort I should have written for the tone is about the colours of image and some
occasions to say relation to warmth of the colours of red, orange and yellow and the cooler colours are blue
and green. Of how this would make more detail for the photographs and also what's going through the varies
of each images on my mood board as this will both differ for both white and black and coloured images.
However I have made much more notice of the brightness or darkness of the area of the image that has been
selected. With the moods they all give all a happy mood coming from them but some of them they can mean
one thing and also another things as well. So like most of these image on mood board to be happiness in
different ways and then there in a couple of photos of sadness. As this is a weakness as I should have noted in.
5. Planning
Another strength would be from the initial plans power-point is from informal proposal of what the kind of
things that would to do with spring photography but I had just said all not specifically anything of what I
should add in my portfolio. But however I have made some slight references of what the kind of things I
should include but they could have changed going through my power-points through all of my product. For
my audience on this specific on the initial plans on informal proposal this has made me look at what type of
audience my product it would appeal as here I have chosen any age and any gender. To be specifically to do
with spring photography. As this would have a wide range of variety of images of all types of spring. Also
with the audience I have used the social status as an achiever, to be going to professionals and
administrative as these would grab their attention to appeal any classes. As this is a good strength because it
gives me a feeling of what I should be making it a certain view of what they would like to see in these types
of photography.
6. Time Management
In my time management on my first power-point of initial plans as I did take this quite slowly because I was thinking
of what type of three ideas I could have done but when I got the main three idea headings down then they worked
out nice and simply from there. A this took a couple of days to do on the mind maps on bubbl.us to put it in most of
detail in for these parts to make it clearer for me to see of when I had came back to this. But apart from the minds
maps on this power-point I did this is in the first week because I wanted to get a full spectrum of what I was going
to do with my own photography of having a full view of what I was making on the photography based. Of all the
little things that would change the effect of the photograph that I had written down slight details to each and
everyone of my photographs of what I thought what I should do for and individual type of main feature to make it
different in a way. As this was the basic structure for my fmp to get an head start of going to have to do. From then I
did all the research, proposal and pre-production as I wanted to get these out of the way before I did do my pre-
production experiments and then doing my final product. I wanted to get these parts out of the way because these
were the writing bits before I actually get to do my product. As this would leave more time for my actually
production experiments and final product production. I did these three power-points and the word document in
about two weeks so then I could spend the other half of the weeks to spend on my productions and one power-
point called production – reflection. So as these couple of weeks I spent time on Photoshop to do editing to the two
photos for the production experiment and then finally doing editing to nine photographs for my final project. As by
doing my editing to the photographs I had wrote down what I had changed to the photo on the individual slides for
the process as I did after each day when I had made something new or changed some details to the photograph. So
I did manage my time well by making sure the most important was done at the very start of the process which was
the writing to be done and then alongside to be done is the editing the photographs. So I did manage the time well
through the weeks that I had got because when I was on my final project production which was the editing and the
writing side to it I was way a head of my time plan as this meant this was good because then I could get on to the
evaluation for one week and a couple of days. As this gave me a great amount of time to go through over the
power-points and documents to make sure that everything was right and checked all the way through. With this
amount of time I had enough time to complete my project off but however I wouldn’t need anymore time because
everything fitted in nicely together in the time that was arranged for me.
7. Time Management
If I did have more time to produce my work I would have done in my initial plans power-point but
some more define details about the type of theme photography which I was doing in spring. So
the extra things that I would have added in is to the mind maps for getting better angles for a
particular image of the photograph. These particular images would be for butterflies, bumble
bees as they are flying into the area and birds as these are with the quick animals and insects. I
would put the specific angles for these types of creators for these ones because I think the angles
I have already got are not that great and doesn’t really define the actually creator because its
however blurred or doesn’t have the other half of the main part of the main part of the
photograph. Also in initial plans I would probably look at a whole different part of spring in a
different way than just animals and landscapes.
8. Target Audience Appeal
My final product does appeal to my targeted audience, by my targeting both female and male and also any
ages who would like the to photographs of spring but however this type of product is diverting to teenagers
and adults, group of 16 to 20 years old. As my product has appealed to this area, of the group by making
the questionnaires for my power-point of research as this helped of what kind of atmosphere of the types of
photographs they would like to see in spring photography. As this helped me to get a sense of what I would
want to see in the photos but specific to the audience of what they would like to see through the options I
have chosen for them. The sort of things like types of effects that they would like to see in the photographs
,like, what types of photographs they would like to see in spring photography as I had put variation of
options and would they like to see one of the main colours in the specific close up of the photographs. Then
around the actual photograph within the portfolio with the questionaries the audience have helped me by
the following: putting mini sub-headings on each of the photographs, prefer to see before and after pictures
or just the final product on one page and then how many photographs would you like to see per page. From
this audience that have helped me by answering the questions on questionaries of how I should influence in
my own photographs in different ways going along my portfolio. As this does appeal to my audience by
putting the main features which they wanted to see through my photographs going through my portfolio. I
have appealed my targeted audience by making sure that there is a wide variation going through my
photographs of different aspects of spring. Of what all audiences would be suited to see in different ways of
spring and also I have chosen these types of photographs from which ones I have chosen because they seem
the most .My final product I have made that what the audience would like to see like in my bumble
photograph I have made out the orange colours to be more noticeable to see compared to the rest of the
colours in the photograph. From this my audience they have chosen some basic factors of the effects that
would be suited to my targeted audience. All of this appeal to my audience because this what they would
like to specifically see in the photographs in a spectrum of different ways. These specific parts are from
questionnaire on the power-point on Research which are specifically for the photographs.
9. Technical Qualities
My Product
Existing product
With these two images I have chosen the similar features for both of these are for starter, which is main feature of the
photograph is that you can see the lamb face which has been pulled a bit of the wooden gate. As this projects on to this
specific feature of the lambs head that over powers any other than main feature which has been photographed in this type
of photograph. But however on the head of the lamb on my photograph to my product you can only see most of its face
apart from one of its ear which is behind the wooden gate. Also with my product the head also is not officially coming out of
the wooden gate as the lamb head has stayed as it and not even moved in any position on its neck. However on the existing
product the lambs head and its neck has moved out from the wooden gate which is so you can see the full face of the
lambs head without no obstructions going over the top of it. In both photographs with the lighting on the lambs head the
brightness has been light up and also parts of its body as well, but not as bright on their faces which has made the face light
up to make the focus on to that area. However the brightness in the background in my own product I have used much of a
duller brightness and also a whole different colour of green that comes across to become much darker I did this because I
didn’t want the brightness from the background. Then on to the the brightness of the lambs itself on to the background
doesn’t collided in to each other with both colour and brightness. In the existing product they have made the brightness
and the colours seem brighter because to go with the main feature of the lambs brightness so there wouldn’t be any
changes going through the lamb and then on to the background. With the colours are more of a lime green and yellow and
then hints of brown in hidden places which this is well into the background. In my own product the background is seemed
to be one colour but as you can’t see the colours very well becuase it’s been made blurred into one colour compared to a
variation of colours like in the existing product. Similarities with both of these photographs with the wooden gate they have
made it seem a balance of brightness and dullness have scattered around the wooden gate and also some variaiton of
colours of dark brown, light brown and muddy grass colour. The angle of how much you can see the lamb the existing
product it shows us the full body of the lamb and legs as well but however in my own product
you can only see the head of the lamb and the back of the lamb. As both of these types of
photographs set different types of angles of what they want to set
to see in the photograph of how much they they would may think
is best to show in the photograph like the legs of animal, back of
the body or just the face.
10. Aesthetic QualitiesI think looking through my portfolio of my photographs of different types of genres of spring in different ways which
have been expressed. By having expressing my photographs in my portfolio of which you can see you can have the
before what the photograph used to look like and then what I have done to edit to it. As this only looking at the
picture to see the differences compared to before and after shots of them pictures, but most of my photographs
have got slight changes into some of them. Within my portfolio I made each photograph on the pages have only two
images because as this would get to complicated if I had more than two images per page. As this would show what’s
going on the page itself. I have made the photographs made go on one side of portfolio per page to make the image
go into one side of the corner so in the right hand corner and the left hand side corner as well. As this depends on
the page on where the images goes. I have made each page have a before picture to come before the after
photograph which has been Photoshopped which comes secondly. I thought that was creative because seem clearly
for the audience point of view so they can see the changes from when you look through both pictures. As my
portfolio has different levels when you see the two different photographs as this makes it more interesting
compared to a plain picture across the page not doing anything with it like leaving the photograph at the same
space left in that particular area across, page to page of not having any diversion of the photographs per pictures
spaced out on the page. Which what I have done has made the portfolio for the images look more attractive to look
into the portfolio itself. For the second part of my portfolio is with the writing I have used the writing for to say the
before and after stages so the viewers you can tell which is which. Also with my writing I have made sub-titles to
the individual photographs so then you get a feel of the insight of what your about to look with the individual
photographs. By using the sub-titles I thought this was highly creative by using spring phrases and verbs that would
go with my genre. But overall my work does look good but the things I could change which I could have added is
made a extra pages saying what I did for each photograph for the pages. By doing this I would refer back to the page
number and also back to the sub-title so you would know which photographs I would be taking about of how I
would made the photographs how they were and how they are now. For only for this section I would only make a
context page for the specific area of the photographs and then say in words how I have made it like it. This would
make appropriate for the audience who like to read about of what kind of tools I have used and the different stages
I have done to that specific picture which you may would want to know about. This would just be pure writing and
then a few images of what tools I have used on Photoshop that which would be appropriate for others who would
like to do the same as me.
11. Aesthetic Qualities
The things which I like about my own product of my photographs is the way through out my portfolio the
photographs I have chosen are a mixture of spring photographs that have been selected throughout the portfolio so
when you turn to each individual page in my portfolio you get a totally different photographs from different
perspectives. So you don’t see the same type of photographs like landscape twice in one section like one page after
the other. As this makes my portfolio more interesting and engages with the audience who will be looking it and get
a different image per page. For the front cover I had made used two pictures that were landscape photographs that
aren’t used in my portfolio but they were going to be similar to the ones I have used inside my portfolio. So I had
placed these two landscape photographs in both corners at the top but going behind the main lamb photography
which was placed in the middle. But not making the landscape photography going to be to unseen on the front
cover just made some of the parts of landscape to be covered up the less important parts of the photograph. As this
makes the front cover tells you some of the photographs what you would see from looking at the cover pictures.
13. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how simple it is with the colours and images it hasn’t
gone too over the top, and it has a continuing theme to it
which is always nice.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• I would like more images and some more text, all that
is shown is a before and after photo’s, with title’s and
nothing to tell the reader what has happened so the
reader has to guess.
14. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I real like the images as they are really well made and
really well shot
– I like how you edited it to make it look nicer
– And I like the theme and things that were in it
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I guess the only thing I would improve is have some
more variation
15. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product? A lot of the
images chosen in this portfolio are very pretty and
would work well on a information guide on a wildlife
park. The close up of the flowers look professional.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• I did not seem to find any changes on the before and
after images. And the black and white changes looked
very simplistic.
16. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
The things that I agree with my peer feedback. Is in my first peer feedback I do agree with how I
should have put some more pictures going throughout my portfolio and also used some more
text but not on the same page. For my second peer feedback I maybe could have added some
different types of images that wouldn’t been suggested to the ones that you would immediately
relate to spring by not choosing animals or landscapes again. But over all of these feedbacks they
all said it actually does relate too spring and the way I have presented them.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
The things which I disagree with my peer feedback is with the feedback 3 because they had said
that they couldn’t tell there was much change to both before and after photographs. As which I
thought there was a difference between both of the photographs.
17. Peer Feedback Summary
The specific changes that I would make to my own product is that from my feedback that I have
got from my audience is that they wanted to see more variation of photographs going through
the different types of photographs going through the theme that I have got an on going pattern
going through my portfolio. On each page there is a before and after picture of how I have edited
it. I would make changes by putting on to each page for each image of how I have changed the
picture itself in writing instead of just pictures so that the audience won’t have to guess of what I
have done to the image to make it look like this, also make it specifically clear to them. In this
specific way. As this would help the audience who is looking at my photographs would get to
know how I have changed it by putting following steps on from it, from what I have done on
Photoshop, so then there would be a defiant change in to both before and after images. For the
individual effects to the photographs they have to now be compared to the before photograph as
there should be a wide difference compared to both of these photographs. As they shouldn’t
look actually the same to one another. So that I should make more an efficient change to the
after photograph so the audience can instantly see a change as which they should do. Maybe I
should have chosen some different types of effects so there would be changes through out the
different photographs that I had chosen. So the following changes that I would make is by using
the following tools on Photoshop to make it that extra different. I would have done more
different things but not all photographs to be on animals and landscapes but on others things
such as people an buildings that would be around the theme of spring.
