There Are No Children Here Essay examples
Alex Kotlowitz's book, There are No Children Here, is a story about two boys, Pharaoh and
Lafeyette Rivers growing in the late 1980's in Henry Horner, a housing project in Chicago. The boys
try to retain their youth while they see constant gang violence, death of close friends, their brother in
jail and their dad struggling with a drug addiction. In Horner, there are two gangs that claim it as
their turf, and the Rivers family is constantly ducking from shots of gunfire there. They live in an
overcrowded apartment with leaky facets, heating problems and animal carcasses in the basement.
The boys' mother, LaJoe, tries to keep them away from gangs and violence since her eldest children
fell to the harsh reality of the neighborhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to this theory, external forces can influence the development of emotions. A child can
mature a lot quicker when they are placed in an environment where they have to take care of
themselves to survive. "When tragedy struck, Pharaoh didn't want to know. He continued to tell his
mother he was too young to comprehend it all, as if he were trying to prolong his childhood"
(Kotlowitz 216). Both boys did recognized at an early age that death occurs frequently in their
neighborhood. They had several friends die and they were reminded of this every time gunfire went
off outside the apartment. Pharaoh tried to maintain his childhood the best he could and excelled in
school as a coping mechanism. Lafeyette, at thirteen, acted as a parent to fill his mother's role when
she was out.
The government makes one of the biggest contributions to the welfare of the family by providing
financial safety. The problem is that the government fails to show any concern for these families
unless it is brought to their attention, and even then nothing is changed. The lack of interest by the
housing authorities leads to the neglect of Horner for over fifteen years. "The rotting carcasses
explained the putrid odor rising from the Riverses' toilet. It wasn't aborted fetuses, as LaJoe had
though. It was dead animals, the stench of rotting flesh

Avatar
Avatar In 2009 Avatar was released with a highly positive review. Watching this movie around eight
times in the first year it was out I concluded that the deeper meaning of the story could be taken two
different ways. In a sense it could be depicting how the European's came and took the Indian's land,
just how the Na'vi seemed to be Native American in traditions and beliefs. The second way of
viewing it could be how the humans are killing the planet and its native population just so they can
get recourses and make a profit. This could be a way of saying how mankind is killing the planet.
The movie could mean both of these or something completely different. I am not the best at getting
meanings behind works of art or movies, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scenery during this part of the movie shows different tribes around the planet, each with their
own beliefs and culture. Every village looked different from the last and even though it's a short
scene it adds more to the world and shows you just how vast and wild the world really is.
They each had a leader and distinct face paint and war paint that they prepared for this fight. Jake
would singlehandedly unite every tribe to protect the Na'vi's way of life.
The seconds is near the end of the movie when you see how everything plays out and all the loss of
life on both sides. After hearing the stories from both Na'vi and human you can't decide who you
should root for in the fight. Humans because you are a human of the Na'vi because they are also, the
victims in the movie. It could also be because they give such a rich background to the
Na'vi that you can't help but to love their world and way of life. What I like about Avatar is just how
beautiful it is to watch. The director and whoever oversaw the CGI did an amazing job depicting the
world. They made the world vivid with breathtaking views and amazing new animals and
vegetation, each one was unique and vivid with how they seemed to glow in the dark. The second
thing I love about this film is how they implemented enough action to satisfy me, but it wasn't the
whole movie. It had story and plot and action when needed. The third thing I loved about

Descriptive Essay On The Curse
"The Curse Which Still Lived"
It was a depressing and grey afternoon. James had just turned twenty–five, and as adventurous as he
was, he anxiously waited for a task. Next thing he knew, he has found himself scrolling on an LED
screen which entranced him as if he knew nothing more. There he sat, alone in his dusty old room
looking through various websites for interesting locations near him. His fingers stopped with a jerk.
A picture of a castle intrigued him as he stared at the blinding screen. The location was on an island
north of Canada, only about an hour and a half from his hometown near Nunavut. Four words
caught his eyes underneath the section titled "Description". " The curse never dies," it wrote. This
didn't deter James in the slightest. The next morning James pulled himself out of bed and got ready.
The day was bright and warm with very few clouds in the sky; the fresh scents of summer filled his
nostrils as he prepared to embark on this adventure. For one hour and thirty minutes James drove
through the constant stretch of road until he reached something. It was a boat ramp, but something
was off. The ramp had been consumed by the elements of nature and time and floating near the ramp
was an old wooden paddle boat engraved with the words "Katherine Rogers" on the side. It seemed
to have been there only a couple weeks. James carefully boarded the small paddle boat and made his
way north, where at a distance, a island could be spotted with a castle–like structure

The Boston Fbi Field Office Building
The room was filled with chatter and arguments. The mass murder that was happening in the states
of the New England region was the center of the discussion in the Boston FBI field office building.
Officer Alecia Harrison was sitting silently in the room while the roars of the others burdened her
ears. It was a late night and the agents were talking all at once about their opinions on the situation.
She sighed, looked around the room and shouted over the silence for everyone to be quiet. The
individuals in the room grew silent as they looked at the young woman who had just interrupted
their banter. "Listen, this isn't helping the situation. We need to come together and figure out a lead,"
explained Alecia. "The only information we have is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She felt a chill run down her spine as she had a sense that someone was watching her from afar.
Slowly turning to look behind her, she looked out in the distance of the woods by her house. When
she felt certain that no one was there she proceeded the rest of the way to her front door.
The young woman opened up her door and immediately felt that sense of uneasiness again even
though her home was full of light. She could hear the water running in the bathroom and figured that
her boyfriend, James, was just taking his usual night shower. She went into the kitchen to get a
quick drink of water. As she drank the cool liquid she felt an immense feeling of relief. She
advanced toward the bathroom. She walked down the hallway heading towards the closed bathroom
door. Alecia felt a sense of panic and anxiety when she felt her foot become slightly submerged in a
liquid on the floor.
She flung the bathroom door open and felt her throat tighten at the scene. Her loving boyfriend was
laying in the bathtub clearly dead with the water overflowing over the sides of the tub. His eyes
were glazed over, looking almost made out of glass, and his skin had started to become discolored.
Letting out a guttural scream, she ran to the side of the tub and tried to lift him out. However, she
knew it was too late and he was too heavy for her to lift. She sunk to the wet floor with tears falling
from her eyes as she turned off

A Trip To South Carolina Essay
We have now begun on our journey to South Carolina. I can't wait to arrive, though I am worried
about the travel there. When we first set out, father spoke with James, Elizabeth, and I. He finally
thought it was time to tell us about Lexington and Concord, I don't think he knows I know so much
about it already. Though he told us some things I was not aware of. He said that, even though the
colonists lost so many men they still considered the battle a victory. This confused and surprised me,
they thought this because they took a stand and upset King George the third. And turns out that these
two battles had started a revolutionary war! So the colonist are currently fighting for there freedom
from the British. I hope the colonists win this war, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole family was in tears, but we also knew we needed to continue on our way down south.
Mother was most upset, she just wanted to hold him one last time but I was afraid to let her.
Thinking it would make things worse, I refused to let her hold him. Then we held a makeshift funeral
we laid him in the hole we had dug last night. From there we all spoke out and said what he meant
to us and how we will miss him. Father then began filling in the whole. As he did so, we all had one
big group hug. It will take all of us time to move forward but we will get there. We now continue
our journey, leaving little ol' Will behind. He will be missed. Ok, so it has been days since I wrote
last. I know it might seem weird that I am not starting another, but I never officially ended this entry.
Anyway, I have been informed that we shall be arriving in South Carolina by nightfall. I am so
excited, mostly to see Emaline! Though I am afraid to spend time with her, due to my sickness. Who
knows if we will be allowed to get together, are parent might not let us. Though I am truly hoping
they can put money differences behind them. Miles, Alice, Ann, and Elizabeth were all running

father and son swimming in the pool. The father was teaching his son how to swim for the first time.
The son was about 6 or 7. Struggling to stay afloat the dad was right by his side making sure he

"Babe, you ready to go to breakfast?"
His wife said as she brushed her teeth.
"Sure honey" he quickly responded as he came behind her and kissed the top of her head. He put on
a bathing suit and a t–shirt so that right after breakfast he could go to the beach. At breakfast he was

James Horner Essay
James Horner was a very talented multi award winning film composer who has shared his talent in
over 75 films, many of which were box office hits. He has set the bar for so many composers in the
world of scoring. James Horner was born from an Austro–Hungarian dad and a Canadian mother.
James's dad immigrated to the United States in 1935 where he builds a career as a set designer and
art director. James was born August 14, 1953 in Los Angles, California. At a very young age James
was exposed to the word of Hollywood, so many of his decisions he made growing up was in many
ways a reflection of it. He began his interest in music when he was five years old with the piano.

James was quoted saying "It was like lightning, I suddenly realized that I could be as expressive as I
wanted. Each Film was completely different." he told Los Angeles Times reporter Steven Smith in
1995. These days for Horner were stepping stones where he began to express himself more through
the music he composed. He continued this streak and the more he composed for these films the more
word spread around of the impressive work he presented. Horner's lucky break came following the
hit movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The Star Trek franchise was already very popular by this
time; this film would positively change the direction of James's career. Star Trek II: The Wrath of
Khan debuted in 1982 and had a box office success of 97 million. This movie put Horner on the map
with A–list Hollywood composers. He continued to write movie scores for a lot of high profile
movies including Star Trek III: The search for Spock, Commando, Cocoon and many more. Also
during this time he began to write his first orchestral score for family films; the first would be An
American Tail. It wouldn't be until the 1986 movie Alien where Horner would be nominated for his
first Academy Award for Best Original Music Score. It would also be the first of many times Horner
would work with director James

A Photographer By Alex Kotlowitz
Alex Kotlowitz met Lafeyette and Pharoah Rivers in 1985 while working as a journalist. He was
interviewing them for a photo essay in Chicago magazine on children living in poverty. The
violence that occurred every day where the brothers lived in Governor Henry Horner Homes, or
Horner, disturbed Kotlowitz. Lafeyette and Pharoah are 12 and 9 years old at the start of the book
but have experienced more than many kids their age. The boys did not seem sure of what life held
for them. Lafeyette told Kotlowitz, "If I grow up, I'd like to be a bus driver," Lafeyette was not sure
that he would grow up at just 10 years old (x). Kotlowitz wanted to show what it is like for children

Dropping out of school and teen pregnancy are more common than not in the projects.
Horner, like many other public housing, is full of violence. The neighborhoods are run by gangs and
violence often breaks out between rival gangs. In Horner there are gang rivalries between the Vice
Lords and the Disciples. Gang shootings were just a commonplace in Horner life. At 10 years old,
Lafeyette witnessed someone being killed for the first time (Kotlowitz 40). The stress of living in
such a violent neighborhood caused Pharoah to develop a terrible stammer. Speaking became so
difficult that he would be left unable to speak and forced to write things down to communicate. The
stress from the violence affected Lafeyette in a different way. Like his mother, he handled the stress
from the violence by cleaning as much as they could to feel like they had some control over their
lives. A lot of the kids in poor inner city neighborhoods do not have both parents involved in their
life and see the gangs as the family they don't have, leading them to join the gangs. The leader of the
Vice Lords, Jimmie Lee, could be seen as a good thing sometimes because he occasionally took care
of people in need in the neighborhood. Gangs in these neighborhoods are somewhat of an endless
cycle. The violence of the neighborhoods leads the youth to join the gangs but they are the ones
causing the violence to begin with.

There are No Children Here – Finding Strength in Poverty
Being privileged is something that I didn't understand until I read There are No Children Here, by
Alex Kotlowitz. The truth is that I knew I had it better than others, but the absolute difference was
not truly recognized until I met the boys Lafayette, and Pharaoh. These boys were presented to me
by Kotlowitz, via his book, and the evident pain and sorrow that these young men went through on a
daily basis was more than most privileged people experience in an entire lifetime. That is what being
privileged is.

The grass was green, the flowers were all around, and the hallways seemed to go on forever. Their
family was the first to move into the homes, and at that time, they were proud of that. Here they
were, in a nice, affordable place where they could raise their children in a descent environment,
around other people. As more families moved in, they relied on each other, and would gather in the
court yard to talk and enjoy each others company. The times sure changed though. The Chicago
Housing Authority started neglecting the Homes. Grass would go months without mowing, the
appliances would deteriorate without replacement, and the plumbing was left to self destruct. When
the CHA didn't control the Homes, and the police wouldn't enforce the laws, crime soon ran free to
torture the inhabitants of the once grand Henry Horner Homes. The people of Henry Horner,
especially the good people, longed for a place that they could sit up at night on a porch without fear.
They had a dream of a place without the violence, but many of the people here became so
conditioned to think that this is the way it was supposed to be, that a thought of getting out was a
fleeting one. Pharaoh, the youngest of the two boys, was a daydreamer in the beginning of the book.
The child had his head in the clouds, and often times dreamt of a place that offered safety, and a
piece of the "American Dream". The progression in the boy was evident from the summer of 1987,

Partial Birth Abortion Persuasive Speech
Whether you were at work, sitting at home watching TV, or not even born yet, there are many crazy
things that happened in the year 1996 that you have never heard about. I was born on December 20,
1996 in Miles City, Montana. This means that while most of these crazy events were taking place, I
was not even born yet. A few things that happened in 1996 include the vetoing of the ban on a
procedure for late abortions, the Unabomber being captured and arrested, and South Africa receiving
a new constitution. In April 1996, Bill Clinton vetoed a bill that outlawed a late–term abortion
procedure. This bill was known as the 'partial birth abortion' bill. This immediately sparked protests
from religious and anti–abortion groups. The vetoing of this ... Show more content on

This means that an expecting mother would have the choice to end her pregnancy later in the term,
just because she doesn't want the baby anymore. Giving the soon–to–be mothers this option, without
a good reason to do so, makes them bad role models for future parents. Partial birth abortions
consist of the death and intact removal of the fetus from the uterus. This usually occurs between the
19th and 26th week of pregnancy. In most cases, it is only performed on babies that are deformed or
dying. In fact, there are little to no situations you can encounter that require a partially delivered
baby to be killed just to preserve the health of a mother. Almost 80% of partial birth abortions are
completely elective. This means that the procedure is done merely because the mother wants an
abortion. Only about 500 out of the yearly total of 1.5 million abortions, are partial birth abortions.
They are mostly performed for the mother's sake, or because the child has severe abnormalities.
Many people believe that letting a pregnant woman abort their unborn baby, so late in their term, is
almost the same as infanticide. Infanticide is the crime of killing an infant within a year of

It was late at night when they finally arrived to the motel. The hotel he was at was very dark and

Breakaway Fire : A Short Story : The Story Of A Story
I was down at the Breakaway Bar with my cousins, Frank Many Horses and Lester Fallsapart,
telling many stories –even though no one actually listens to what I have to say until they hear
something they may find a bit interesting. All of a sudden we heard sirens. Everyone around here
gets excited about it. The sirens mean that we can take action and be a hero, so Lester, Frank, and I
are started to make our way to the place that was ablaze. As soon as we got to the scene of the fire
we had realized that it was Rosemary MorningDove's home. Frank ManyHorses, who is rumored to
be the father of her son, immediately knew that James was in the home. James immediately ran into
the home to save James. By the time that Frank was able to reach him there was no way that they
could have made it out alive, so Frank threw him out of the window while assuming that someone
was there to catch him.
I ran, galloping toward James and the burning building. I could not help but break free, let my wings
spread and go diving in for the baby boy. Unfortunately, just as I dived for the child As he fell into
my arms it felt as if I had known him for a lifetime. It was as if we had a past– in which we would
exchange our stories and tell them all to the young children. It seemed as though I had known him as
a man who spent his time lecturing others and making it a point to let others know of what was
going on in the world. Of course no body would ever believe me if I told them that James was one

James Roy Horner Research Paper
James Roy Horner is Las Angeles native, born on August 14th,1953. James Horner started playing
piano at the age of five. At a young age, James studied in London, where he attended the Royal
College of Music. He returned to America, where he attended Verde Valley School in Sedona,
Arizona, and later received his bachelor's degree in music from the University of Southern
California. After he earned a master's degree, he started work on his doctorate at the University of
California, Los Angeles where he would later complete his Ph.D. in Music Composition and Theory.
In the 1970s James had several small scoring assignments with the American Film Institute. It

produced for Field of Dreams, interestingly that same year he won another Grammy for his
contributions on the dramatic civil war movie Glory. 1995 was a very productive year as well,
winning two more Academy Award nominations for Apollo 13 and Braveheart. It wasn't until 1997
for Horner to hit the big payday though. Horner won two Oscars for his score and song "My Heart
Will Go On", premiering in the record–breaking blockbuster Titanic that starred Leonardo DiCaprio.
Interestingly, Horner made $800,000 for Titanic (plus $1.2$ per soundtrack CD sold). Horner was
still productive through 2000's, though his success wasn't nearly as prolific as the 90's. Earning
himself another three Oscar nominations, Avatar's (2009) success was almost comparable to Titanic.
Another for House of Sand and Fog (2003) and A Beautiful Mind (2001). Horner continued to see
more success into the 21st century. Writing the theme song for CBS's evening news program, heard

Film Music : The Purpose Of Music In Film
Ennio Morricone once said, "Music in film must not just add emphasis but must give more body and
depth to the story, to the characters, to the language that the director has chosen. It must, therefore,
say all that the dialogue, images, effects etc., cannot say". (Peacock, R., 2001. The Art of Moving
Making. New Jersey: Prentice Hall). In the early years of film making the purpose of music was to
keep the audience from talking and to dull the sound of the noisy projector (Schaefer, H., Emotion
and the Film Scores: an empirical approach). Today's cinematic music serves a lot more purposes.
Film music have evolved from the harmoniums, pianos, drums and musical bells to meticulously
composed music–call scores. Scores are composed for a specific scene in a film. Its purpose is to
support the scene. Underscore is music that is heard and understood by the audience, but is not
heard by the characters; it is the background music. (Richards, M., 2013, April 21. Diegetic Music,
Non–Diegetic Music, and Source scoring). Source music, on the other hand, is incidental music that
is a part of a film scene: "This could be music playing from a radio in a bar, or music playing at a
shopping mall." The characters in the film are able to hear this music. (Film Music Explained:
underscores, original songs, and source music, 2017). Both underscoring and source music play
major roles in our understanding and enjoyment of a film. We can see the aesthetic of film music
play

College Admissions Essay: Equal Opportunity To The...
Most of us don't appreciate what we have and despise those who have what we can't afford.
Growing up, my parents rarely denied me new toys, but subconsciously, I knew I should not ask for
unnecessary items. Up to this day, I don't remember a time when I bought something without asking
myself multiple times, "How much do I really need this?" This is because my family has never been
in a financial position in which we could afford anything and everything we wanted. Just like Mark
Twain said, "I am opposed to millionaires, but it would be dangerous to offer me that position," I
personally would not be able to handle the responsibility which comes with having money at easy
disposal because of how I was raised. For the first nine years of my life, I lived in Belarus. My
family would've been considered to be middle–class at the time. We didn't struggle, but there was
always the desire to make more money. In 2009, we won the lottery for the greencard to come to the
United States, and "the green card was a passport to the American Dream" (Zakaria 468). Leaving
everything and everyone behind, we packed our suitcases and came to Strongsville, OH. The college

tomorrow I suddenly became a millionaire, I would not know what to do with all of the money,

My Beauty Of Life
As I walked into freshman year I was by no means expecting to lose connection with myself on the
way. I recall walking home after long days at school, absorbing my surroundings. Breathing in the
sweet air as the calm breeze hit my face. Thinking to myself that this walk home was the only time I

sitting, doing absolutely nothing. Just to assimilate the beauty of life. Time, space, me, my spirit,

of work done and memorizing notes for the next text. Having six–hour days to come home, sit down

I am not saying going to school is a bad thing, but it shouldn't be organized in a way of
programming children. Disconnecting them from themselves; pulling them apart like string cheese.
Without peace within, you cannot accomplish peace outside. Gandhi once said, " If we want to reach
real peace in this world, we should start educating children." When he says this I don't envision he
means a classroom full of innocent children being programmed with math, reading, writing and the
sciences. How many students are actually going to benefit from knowing how to transform a
parabola? Yes, those things are important. However, a child's mental health overrules by far. When I
read that quote I see a classroom full of children playing, having fun, and learning to discover
themselves through making friendships. How can a child genuinely learn anything about themselves
and the earth they walk on if their little heads are constantly being crammed full of academics? They
can't, and this system is twisted. Through my experience, I would say high school is most guilty of
this corrupt system. Although, you can begin to watch it arise starting in elementary school. As I
move my way up the ladder into community college, I feel like I'm being allowed to slowly breathe
again. Although not yet entirely, the feeling of being trapped is fading away. Hopefully, my journey
will continue to present this freedom. Going to a larger 4–year university or college is not in my
main interest because I

There are no Children Here Essay
Alex Kotlowitz's book, There are No Children Here, is a story about two boys, Pharoah and
Lafeyette Rivers growing in the late 1980's in Henry Horner, a housing project in Chicago. The boys
try to retain their youth while they see constant gang violence, death of close friends, their brother in
jail and their dad struggling with a drug addiction.
In Horner, there are two gangs that claim it as their turf, and the Rivers family is constantly ducking
from shots of gunfire there. They live in an overcrowded apartment with leaky facets, heating
problems and animal carcasses in the basement. The boys' mother, LaJoe, tries to keep them away

frequently in their neighborhood. They had several friends die and they were reminded of this every
time gunfire went off outside the apartment. Pharoah tried to maintain his childhood the best he
could and excelled in school as a coping mechanism. Lafeyette, at thirteen, acted as a parent to fill
his mother's role when she was out.
It wasn't aborted fetuses, as LaJoe had
though. It was dead animals, the stench of rotting flesh rising through the pipes" (Kotlowitz 241).
The government leaves the projects to fend for themselves, which increased the communities'
turmoil. If the government and the people worked together, more problems could be solved.
The family is the closest, most stable element in the boys life. LaJoe tries hard to make sure the boys
are surrounded with positive influences so that they will grow up secure. This

The Missing Found By Margaret Peterson Short Story
A mysterious airplane arrives at gate 2B of the airport. It was not supposed to be there. It did not
show up on the radar, It was not a scheduled flight, and all airplanes were accounted for. It just
appeared. There was no one on board except 36 babies. This is a piece of the book The Missing:
Found by Margaret Peterson. While this story takes place in a unique, interesting, and unrealistic
setting, it still has a universal theme to it. The author shows that the characters can make strong
friendships through character and plot development. The plot of this book is about the journey of
discovering their own identities, and the journey starts because of the main characters' friendships.
Jonah, the main character, has been loved and cared for by his family his entire life and has never
thought seriously about the fact that he is adopted until he gets two mysterious letters in the mail,
both with no return address. Jonah thinks that these are just a prank letter, but his friend Chip gets
panicked when he gets the same letters. Jonah finds out that Chip's parents had never told him that
he was adopted as well. Jonah thinks "He'd never met Chip's dad, just seen him drive by. Jonah
probably couldn't have picked Chip's dad out in a line–up. However, right now Jonah wanted to
stolk over to Chip's house, swing his best punch, and hit Chip's dad right in the mouth." (Peterson
35) Jonah feels angry towards Chip's parents because they refuse to tell him anything else about his
adoption. Later Jonah says "I swear, I'll do everything I can to help you." (Peterson 35) This quote
suggests that Jonah cares deeply about his friend and wants to support him, and he promises he will
do everything he can to help Chip. Jonah, Chip, and Jonah's younger sister, Katherine begin the
journey to find the truth about their past. Their friendship pushes them into a wild adventure for
seeking their identity.
Unlike Chip's parents, Jonah's family always support him, especially Katherine, his younger sister.
Jonah, Chip, and Katherine come to realize that they are missing children of history who were
transported here to the 21st century in the form of an airplane. Even though Katherine is not one of

Comparing Pharoah And Layfette Rivers
Pharoah and Layfette Rivers grew up in the projects of Chicago, Illinois in what was known as the
Henry Horner Homes. The book portrayed two young boys who wanted to have a typical childhood,
but due to their environment, their circumstance did not allow them to live like the children they
dreamed of. The boys were raised in a decrepit building: no enclosed lobby, a dark tunnel through
the hall, busted first–floor mailboxes, and very dim lighting that required them to carry flashlights.
Their mother, LaJoe described the neighborhood surrounding their building as a "black hole" due to
businesses gravitating towards the suburban appeal. The neighborhood had more to lack than offer–

The once carefree child became bossy and bitter with his siblings, especially the four–year–old
triplets: Timothy, Tiffanie, and Tammie, which Lafayette claimed to have arisen this behavior out

Pharoah was a very emotional and naive introvert. His best friend, Porkchop was his one and only
friend. This could possibly be due to the stutter that Pharoah had, although it did grasp the attention
of the elders around him. Pharoah differentiated himself from his older siblings by ignoring the
harsh realities around him. His daydreaming was to compensate for the strong emotional outbursts
he felt. He always could laugh at the smallest thing and created every scenario as if it were a full–
blown tragedy. Make no mistake, Pharaoh was known for his brains as the more intelligent of the
two boys. But it is Pharaoh's delicate personality that created such a soft spot for him in Lafayette.
Lafayette took it upon himself to promise his mother that he would not allow anything to happen to
Pharoah. However, this promise was severed during a gang shootout on the street–where for a split
second, Lafayette lost Pharaoh. As the rivals shootout came to an end, the boys explicitly heard the
police informing a news reporter that there was no gun–fire. Even though the boys knew there
obviously was gunfire –it was one of the first times that the boys experienced the police's
questionable agenda. Living in the projects, gun violence would be reintroduced into Lafayette's life

A Short Story : A Story Of The Story
She let herself be swallowed by the fog. She didn't remember dinner or what she said, just that food
tasted like ash and a corpse's hand was warmer than hers. Her face hurt from smiling and her laugh
sounded hollow. She was too apathetic to care, her mind far away dreaming of Erik. Afterwards,
Monsieur Chagny took them "home". Raoul had passed out in a wine induced stupor in the carriage.
Rita and Chagny carried him in, she secretly enjoyed hearing Chagny struggle to carry the dead
weight but pitied Rita. They settled him in bed talking as if nothing amiss before leaving. She
wished them goodnight, her smile dropping the second the door closed. She stood at the door,
contemplating navigating the dark streets to go to Giry's or hell the theater. She could just run
away... She pressed her against the door, her hand on the handle. He wouldn't like that... She couldn't
make him angry. Raoul only took it on her when she did. But Chagny would make the whole theater
collapse and ask why she did it... her hand fell from the door. She couldn't be responsible for its
downfall. The apartment was small and crowded with cheap furniture she has already bumped into.
The stale air choked her but opening the windows only brought in the stench of the city. She
retreated to the second bedroom Rita had told her about and locked it. She laid on the bed, staring at
ceiling until sleep came. She earned new bruises navigating about the damn furniture in the morning
and found Raoul in the oversized bed snoring. She briefly contemplated putting a pillow over his
face to shut him up. The thought of his father made her sigh and shake her head, as she went to the
locked wardrobe his father said was hers. He gave her the key before leaving the night before. It was
overflowing with dresses, of rich material by the feel of it. Undergarments were of soft cotton and
new corsets. She dressed quickly, angry that he thought he could buy her back with such things and
locked it again. Upon leaving to the theater, it dawned on her why Chagny had purchased the
apartment above the offices. He would their every coming and going and she would have to see him
every day. It made her skin crawl as she his voice, greeting her and insisted

Demonic Memory-Personal Narrative
The whispers I never did anything to make it come. Never played the demonic games, never asked if
Charlie was here, never talked into the mirror, but it still came, or perhaps it was always watching
me. Sometimes I still hear the whispers in my mind, when I was a child I told my mother about the
voices but she never believed me, no one does. Now I'm stuck in this special place for the insane,
but I'm not insane, I just tell the truth. If they were there that night horrible night they would
understand. It was a frigid October morning as I got into the bus. I sat next to the humble girl from
my Language Arts class and pulled out my agenda that was smeared with Sharpie from when it used
to say Margaret Harris, 8th grade. It was a normal school day until I looked out the window and saw
a man that appeared to be looking straight at me from a far distance, and then the whispers started.
Until that day the whispers were just chaotic, jumbles of words that I could never comprehend, but
today was different. The whispers grew loud in my head as I stared at the man and just one word
repeated in my head...... until. The rest of the day I pondered what the word could have meant that
was running through my skull. When I got home my little sister was acting quite unusual. She
usually sits at the table and does her homework or eats a snack, but that ... Show more content on

Then everything was still, Isabella sat up and listened toward the door, 'Do you hear that?' She
asked. I sat up, moved my hair away from my ear and listened, it sounded as if someone was
creeping up the stairs. Then the whispers started. I tried to convince myself that it was just my
mother coming home from work, but I didn't hear her voice announcing that she was home. With
every step the whispers grew louder and louder in my head. I counted the footsteps,

Personal Narrative : My Best Friend
March 22, 2006, should have been a regular Wednesday for me. Me being in first grade, a regular
Wednesday was to wake up at 8 a.m. to my father turning on my lights, and spiritedly but
annoyingly singing, "Wake up, wake up!" Wincing at the light and my father's terrible voice, I was
always able to wake up in order to shut him up. However, the most memorable part of this day was
not during school but rather what happened later that day at home. It was my father's birthday. My
father was turning 33 and my mom had a little surprise for our family. To this day, I am not too sure
whether my father knew it was happening or not, but my mom walked in through the front door
holding a 10lb cream–colored standard poodle. My mom placed her on the dining room table; tail–
wagging, tongue out, and super energized. Standing there in awe due to pure shock and
astonishment, it was a moment I will always remember. I met my first true best–friend. It wasn't just
some friend though, this dog became my family. Chelsea was the smartest dog I knew, being able to
understand our commands (In Russian of course, as we spoke that at home) at the age of 2. I was
able to teach it hand commands, like raising my hand in front of me as if telling someone to stop,
which signaled sit. Lay down was me waving my hand down, as if petting a dog in a vertical
motion. Chelsea was a one of a kind dog to say the least, bringing joy and comfort to a growing
family. My dog perfectly fit the stereotype all poodles have.

Pandemic Death Monologue
Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was early in the year
1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and I got up to go see who it was.
When I opened the door there was a man on his horse. The man asked my parents were home, they
were, so I said I could go and get them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked if they are
willing to go on a trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so they put in
there few overalls and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to hall 46 miles to
get to the ship. I have two brothers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her mother had just died of plague and Elizabeth needed somewhere to go so, I invited her over.
Brett said,''
We all went inside and ate some soup. Once we were done we told each other a little about what we
liked to do for fun. After that we drew things in the dirt. WE were having so much fun
together...Until there was a deep voice outside our door.
The voice was booming, dark, and scary. They then suddenly I saw the door split in two. A man
about twice the height as me then thundered in. The man started rambling on about how everyone is
dieing and that the world was going to end. I noticed there were swollen oval shaped things the size
of an apple.
The man then asked,'' I've traveled a long way and i'm so tired of seeing dead bodies everywhere I
go I was also wondering if I could sit a while here. Just about everyone is dead around here.''
I told him he could stay a while and I got him some fresh water. The man said he would replace our
door and he was very sorry for hacking it down.
He got up and was getting ready to leave when he fell to the floor weakly and started coughing up
blood. We knew exactly what this meant. He had the

Avatar Accomplishments
James Horner was the composer for the movie Avatar, and was sadly passed away in June 22, 2015
in a plane crash. He was born in August 14, 1953, in Los Angeles, California. Horner began the life
of a musician at an early age of five years of age, and continued his practices at the Royal College of
Music in London, England. He further continued his studies of music and received a bachelor's
degree at USC and both a master's degree and a Ph.D. at UCLA. Horner first breakthrough was
when he composed music for the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in 1982, which lead to
many opportunities such as working with the London Symphony Orchestra and James Cameron's
Titanic and Avatar movies. Other directors that he had worked with are George Lucas, ... Show more

First piece of music being evaluated is the main credit. However, the main music piece for the
Avatar movie title is not at the beginning but rather at the end. In other words, the main title music is
the end credit of the film. The only possible reason that came to mind after watching the movie as to
why the main music of the movie is played at the credit along with showing the title of the film is to
have the audience leaving the theater remembering the film. To feel attached to the film in believing
that the planet Pandora is alive and real with its native people, Na'vi, and their aboriginal music. It
also gives off the effect of leaving the theater happy and excited. In addition, it's a possible method
of hinting about a sequel for the film by ending the film with Jake waking up in his Na'vi body
along with an intense drum based orchestral playing in the background in an aboriginal rhythm,
which also adds in the effect for the switch between bodies. The year the film was set to take place
was in 2154 on the planet of Pandora, but the music was not futuristic. It felt more in tune with
nature like how the Na'vi people are to the land. It starts with the flute, with a soft and relaxing tune
slowly building up. Then followed up with a heavy drum, giving off a feel that is fitting for the large
humanoid Na'vi people as if they were to play the drums along with some sort of chant that feels
fitting for Na'vi people.

There Are No Children Here Essay Examples

  • 1. There Are No Children Here Essay examples Alex Kotlowitz's book, There are No Children Here, is a story about two boys, Pharaoh and Lafeyette Rivers growing in the late 1980's in Henry Horner, a housing project in Chicago. The boys try to retain their youth while they see constant gang violence, death of close friends, their brother in jail and their dad struggling with a drug addiction. In Horner, there are two gangs that claim it as their turf, and the Rivers family is constantly ducking from shots of gunfire there. They live in an overcrowded apartment with leaky facets, heating problems and animal carcasses in the basement. The boys' mother, LaJoe, tries to keep them away from gangs and violence since her eldest children fell to the harsh reality of the neighborhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to this theory, external forces can influence the development of emotions. A child can mature a lot quicker when they are placed in an environment where they have to take care of themselves to survive. "When tragedy struck, Pharaoh didn't want to know. He continued to tell his mother he was too young to comprehend it all, as if he were trying to prolong his childhood" (Kotlowitz 216). Both boys did recognized at an early age that death occurs frequently in their neighborhood. They had several friends die and they were reminded of this every time gunfire went off outside the apartment. Pharaoh tried to maintain his childhood the best he could and excelled in school as a coping mechanism. Lafeyette, at thirteen, acted as a parent to fill his mother's role when she was out. The government makes one of the biggest contributions to the welfare of the family by providing financial safety. The problem is that the government fails to show any concern for these families unless it is brought to their attention, and even then nothing is changed. The lack of interest by the housing authorities leads to the neglect of Horner for over fifteen years. "The rotting carcasses explained the putrid odor rising from the Riverses' toilet. It wasn't aborted fetuses, as LaJoe had though. It was dead animals, the stench of rotting flesh ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Avatar Avatar In 2009 Avatar was released with a highly positive review. Watching this movie around eight times in the first year it was out I concluded that the deeper meaning of the story could be taken two different ways. In a sense it could be depicting how the European's came and took the Indian's land, just how the Na'vi seemed to be Native American in traditions and beliefs. The second way of viewing it could be how the humans are killing the planet and its native population just so they can get recourses and make a profit. This could be a way of saying how mankind is killing the planet. The movie could mean both of these or something completely different. The scenery during this part of the movie shows different tribes around the planet, each with their own beliefs and culture. Every village looked different from the last and even though it's a short scene it adds more to the world and shows you just how vast and wild the world really is. They each had a leader and distinct face paint and war paint that they prepared for this fight. Jake would singlehandedly unite every tribe to protect the Na'vi's way of life. The seconds is near the end of the movie when you see how everything plays out and all the loss of life on both sides. After hearing the stories from both Na'vi and human you can't decide who you should root for in the fight. Humans because you are a human of the Na'vi because they are also, the victims in the movie. It could also be because they give such a rich background to the Na'vi that you can't help but to love their world and way of life. What I like about Avatar is just how beautiful it is to watch. The director and whoever oversaw the CGI did an amazing job depicting the world. They made the world vivid with breathtaking views and amazing new animals and vegetation, each one was unique and vivid with how they seemed to glow in the dark. The second thing I love about this film is how they implemented enough action to satisfy me, but it wasn't the whole movie. It had story and plot and action when needed. • 7. Descriptive Essay On The Curse "The Curse Which Still Lived" It was a depressing and grey afternoon. James had just turned twenty–five, and as adventurous as he was, he anxiously waited for a task. Next thing he knew, he has found himself scrolling on an LED screen which entranced him as if he knew nothing more. There he sat, alone in his dusty old room looking through various websites for interesting locations near him. His fingers stopped with a jerk. A picture of a castle intrigued him as he stared at the blinding screen. The location was on an island north of Canada, only about an hour and a half from his hometown near Nunavut. Four words caught his eyes underneath the section titled "Description". " The curse never dies," it wrote. This didn't deter James in the slightest. The next morning James pulled himself out of bed and got ready. The day was bright and warm with very few clouds in the sky; the fresh scents of summer filled his nostrils as he prepared to embark on this adventure. For one hour and thirty minutes James drove through the constant stretch of road until he reached something. It was a boat ramp, but something was off. The ramp had been consumed by the elements of nature and time and floating near the ramp was an old wooden paddle boat engraved with the words "Katherine Rogers" on the side. It seemed to have been there only a couple weeks. James carefully boarded the small paddle boat and made his way north, where at a distance, a island could be spotted with a castle–like structure ... The young woman opened up her door and immediately felt that sense of uneasiness again even though her home was full of light. Lafeyette and Pharoah are 12 and 9 years old at the start of the book but have experienced more than many kids their age. The boys did not seem sure of what life held for them. Lafeyette told Kotlowitz, "If I grow up, I'd like to be a bus driver," Lafeyette was not sure that he would grow up at just 10 years old (x). Dropping out of school and teen pregnancy are more common than not in the projects. Horner, like many other public housing, is full of violence. The neighborhoods are run by gangs and violence often breaks out between rival gangs. In Horner there are gang rivalries between the Vice Lords and the Disciples. Gang shootings were just a commonplace in Horner life. At 10 years old, Lafeyette witnessed someone being killed for the first time (Kotlowitz 40). The stress of living in such a violent neighborhood caused Pharoah to develop a terrible stammer. Speaking became so difficult that he would be left unable to speak and forced to write things down to communicate. The stress from the violence affected Lafeyette in a different way. Like his mother, he handled the stress from the violence by cleaning as much as they could to feel like they had some control over their lives. A lot of the kids in poor inner city neighborhoods do not have both parents involved in their life and see the gangs as the family they don't have, leading them to join the gangs. The leader of the Vice Lords, Jimmie Lee, could be seen as a good thing sometimes because he occasionally took care of people in need in the neighborhood. Gangs in these neighborhoods are somewhat of an endless cycle. The violence of the neighborhoods leads the youth to join the gangs but they are the ones causing the violence to begin with. ... Partial birth abortions consist of the death and intact removal of the fetus from the uterus. This usually occurs between the 19th and 26th week of pregnancy. In most cases, it is only performed on babies that are deformed or dying. In fact, there are little to no situations you can encounter that require a partially delivered baby to be killed just to preserve the health of a mother. Almost 80% of partial birth abortions are completely elective. This means that the procedure is done merely because the mother wants an abortion. Breakaway Fire : A Short Story : The Story Of A Story I was down at the Breakaway Bar with my cousins, Frank Many Horses and Lester Fallsapart, telling many stories –even though no one actually listens to what I have to say until they hear something they may find a bit interesting. All of a sudden we heard sirens. Everyone around here gets excited about it. The sirens mean that we can take action and be a hero, so Lester, Frank, and I are started to make our way to the place that was ablaze. As soon as we got to the scene of the fire we had realized that it was Rosemary MorningDove's home. Frank ManyHorses, who is rumored to be the father of her son, immediately knew that James was in the home. James immediately ran into the home to save James. By the time that Frank was able to reach him there was no way that they could have made it out alive, so Frank threw him out of the window while assuming that someone was there to catch him. I ran, galloping toward James and the burning building. I could not help but break free, let my wings spread and go diving in for the baby boy. Unfortunately, just as I dived for the child As he fell into my arms it felt as if I had known him for a lifetime. It wasn't until 1997 for Horner to hit the big payday though. Horner won two Oscars for his score and song "My Heart Will Go On", premiering in the record–breaking blockbuster Titanic that starred Leonardo DiCaprio. • 47. Film Music : The Purpose Of Music In Film Ennio Morricone once said, "Music in film must not just add emphasis but must give more body and depth to the story, to the characters, to the language that the director has chosen. It must, therefore, say all that the dialogue, images, effects etc., cannot say". (Peacock, R., 2001. The Art of Moving Making. New Jersey: Prentice Hall). In the early years of film making the purpose of music was to keep the audience from talking and to dull the sound of the noisy projector (Schaefer, H., Emotion and the Film Scores: an empirical approach). Today's cinematic music serves a lot more purposes. Film music have evolved from the harmoniums, pianos, drums and musical bells to meticulously composed music–call scores. Scores are composed for a specific scene in a film. Its purpose is to support the scene. Underscore is music that is heard and understood by the audience, but is not heard by the characters; it is the background music. (Richards, M., 2013, April 21. Diegetic Music, Non–Diegetic Music, and Source scoring). Source music, on the other hand, is incidental music that is a part of a film scene: "This could be music playing from a radio in a bar, or music playing at a shopping mall." The characters in the film are able to hear this music. (Film Music Explained: underscores, original songs, and source music, 2017). Both underscoring and source music play major roles in our understanding and enjoyment of a film. We can see the aesthetic of film music play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Growing up, my parents rarely denied me new toys, but subconsciously, I knew I should not ask for unnecessary items. Up to this day, I don't remember a time when I bought something without asking myself multiple times, "How much do I really need this?" This is because my family has never been in a financial position in which we could afford anything and everything we wanted. Just like Mark Twain said, "I am opposed to millionaires, but it would be dangerous to offer me that position," I personally would not be able to handle the responsibility which comes with having money at easy disposal because of how I was raised. For the first nine years of my life, I lived in Belarus. My family would've been considered to be middle–class at the time. We didn't struggle, but there was always the desire to make more money. In 2009, we won the lottery for the greencard to come to the United States, and "the green card was a passport to the American Dream" (Zakaria 468). Leaving everything and everyone behind, we packed our suitcases and came to Strongsville, OH. The college degrees that my parents got in Belarus did not transfer here, so my parents had to ... I am not saying going to school is a bad thing, but it shouldn't be organized in a way of programming children. Disconnecting them from themselves; pulling them apart like string cheese. Without peace within, you cannot accomplish peace outside. Gandhi once said, " If we want to reach real peace in this world, we should start educating children." When he says this I don't envision he means a classroom full of innocent children being programmed with math, reading, writing and the sciences. How many students are actually going to benefit from knowing how to transform a parabola? Yes, those things are important. However, a child's mental health overrules by far. When I read that quote I see a classroom full of children playing, having fun, and learning to discover themselves through making friendships. How can a child genuinely learn anything about themselves and the earth they walk on if their little heads are constantly being crammed full of academics? They can't, and this system is twisted. Through my experience, I would say high school is most guilty of this corrupt system. Although, you can begin to watch it arise starting in elementary school. As I move my way up the ladder into community college, I feel like I'm being allowed to slowly breathe again. Although not yet entirely, the feeling of being trapped is fading away. In Horner, there are two gangs that claim it as their turf, and the Rivers family is constantly ducking from shots of gunfire there. Pharoah tried to maintain his childhood the best he could and excelled in school as a coping mechanism. It was dead animals, the stench of rotting flesh rising through the pipes" (Kotlowitz 241). The government leaves the projects to fend for themselves, which increased the communities' turmoil. If the government and the people worked together, more problems could be solved. The family is the closest, most stable element in the boys life. LaJoe tries hard to make sure the boys are surrounded with positive influences so that they will grow up secure. This ... It did not show up on the radar, It was not a scheduled flight, and all airplanes were accounted for. It just appeared. There was no one on board except 36 babies. This is a piece of the book The Missing: Found by Margaret Peterson. While this story takes place in a unique, interesting, and unrealistic setting, it still has a universal theme to it. The author shows that the characters can make strong friendships through character and plot development. The plot of this book is about the journey of discovering their own identities, and the journey starts because of the main characters' friendships. Jonah, the main character, has been loved and cared for by his family his entire life and has never thought seriously about the fact that he is adopted until he gets two mysterious letters in the mail, both with no return address. Jonah thinks that these are just a prank letter, but his friend Chip gets panicked when he gets the same letters. Jonah finds out that Chip's parents had never told him that he was adopted as well. Jonah thinks "He'd never met Chip's dad, just seen him drive by. Jonah probably couldn't have picked Chip's dad out in a line–up. However, right now Jonah wanted to stolk over to Chip's house, swing his best punch, and hit Chip's dad right in the mouth." (Peterson 35) Jonah feels angry towards Chip's parents because they refuse to tell him anything else about his adoption. Later Jonah says "I swear, I'll do everything I can to help you." (Peterson 35) This quote suggests that Jonah cares deeply about his friend and wants to support him, and he promises he will do everything he can to help Chip. Jonah, Chip, and Jonah's younger sister, Katherine begin the journey to find the truth about their past. Their friendship pushes them into a wild adventure for seeking their identity. Unlike Chip's parents, Jonah's family always support him, especially Katherine, his younger sister. I sat next to the humble girl from my Language Arts class and pulled out my agenda that was smeared with Sharpie from when it used to say Margaret Harris, 8th grade. It was a normal school day until I looked out the window and saw a man that appeared to be looking straight at me from a far distance, and then the whispers started. Until that day the whispers were just chaotic, jumbles of words that I could never comprehend, but today was different. The whispers grew loud in my head as I stared at the man and just one word repeated in my head...... until. The rest of the day I pondered what the word could have meant that was running through my skull. When I got home my little sister was acting quite unusual. She usually sits at the table and does her homework or eats a snack, but that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then everything was still, Isabella sat up and listened toward the door, 'Do you hear that?' She asked. I sat up, moved my hair away from my ear and listened, it sounded as if someone was creeping up the stairs. Then the whispers started. I tried to convince myself that it was just my mother coming home from work, but I didn't hear her voice announcing that she was home. With every step the whispers grew louder and louder in my head. I counted the footsteps, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Personal Narrative : My Best Friend March 22, 2006, should have been a regular Wednesday for me. Me being in first grade, a regular Wednesday was to wake up at 8 a.m. to my father turning on my lights, and spiritedly but annoyingly singing, "Wake up, wake up!" Wincing at the light and my father's terrible voice, I was always able to wake up in order to shut him up. However, the most memorable part of this day was not during school but rather what happened later that day at home. It was my father's birthday. My father was turning 33 and my mom had a little surprise for our family. To this day, I am not too sure whether my father knew it was happening or not, but my mom walked in through the front door holding a 10lb cream–colored standard poodle. My mom placed her on the dining room table; tail– wagging, tongue out, and super energized. Standing there in awe due to pure shock and astonishment, it was a moment I will always remember. I met my first true best–friend. It wasn't just some friend though, this dog became my family. Chelsea was the smartest dog I knew, being able to understand our commands (In Russian of course, as we spoke that at home) at the age of 2. I was able to teach it hand commands, like raising my hand in front of me as if telling someone to stop, which signaled sit. Lay down was me waving my hand down, as if petting a dog in a vertical motion. Chelsea was a one of a kind dog to say the least, bringing joy and comfort to a growing family. My dog perfectly fit the stereotype all poodles have. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Pandemic Death Monologue Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was early in the year 1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and I got up to go see who it was. When I opened the door there was a man on his horse. The man asked my parents were home, they were, so I said I could go and get them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked if they are willing to go on a trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so they put in there few overalls and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to hall 46 miles to get to the ship. I have two brothers ... Once we were done we told each other a little about what we liked to do for fun. After that we drew things in the dirt. WE were having so much fun together...Until there was a deep voice outside our door. The voice was booming, dark, and scary. They then suddenly I saw the door split in two. A man about twice the height as me then thundered in. The man started rambling on about how everyone is dieing and that the world was going to end. I noticed there were swollen oval shaped things the size of an apple. The man then asked,'' I've traveled a long way and i'm so tired of seeing dead bodies everywhere I go I was also wondering if I could sit a while here. Just about everyone is dead around here.'' I told him he could stay a while and I got him some fresh water. The man said he would replace our door and he was very sorry for hacking it down. He got up and was getting ready to leave when he fell to the floor weakly and started coughing up blood. We knew exactly what this meant. He had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the main music piece for the Avatar movie title is not at the beginning but rather at the end. In other words, the main title music is the end credit of the film. The only possible reason that came to mind after watching the movie as to why the main music of the movie is played at the credit along with showing the title of the film is to have the audience leaving the theater remembering the film. To feel attached to the film in believing that the planet Pandora is alive and real with its native people, Na'vi, and their aboriginal music. It also gives off the effect of leaving the theater happy and excited. In addition, it's a possible method of hinting about a sequel for the film by ending the film with Jake waking up in his Na'vi body along with an intense drum based orchestral playing in the background in an aboriginal rhythm, which also adds in the effect for the switch between bodies. The year the film was set to take place was in 2154 on the planet of Pandora, but the music was not futuristic. It felt more in tune with nature like how the Na'vi people are to the land. It starts with the flute, with a soft and relaxing tune slowly building up. Then followed up with a heavy drum, giving off a feel that is fitting for the large humanoid Na'vi people as if they were to play the drums along with some sort of chant that feels fitting for Na'vi people. ...
