The Role Of Media On Influencing The Way People Perceive...
Introduction Public knowledge of a crime is predominantly obtained from the media. Crime–related
media such as crime on the news and crime–dramas has proven to serve as a great impact in how
countless individuals feel about the world surrounding them, and even more importantly, how they
feel about the criminals portrayed by the media. This research paper examines the role the media
plays on influencing the way people perceive the relationship and punitive attitudes between race
and crime. In my hypothesis, I believe that the majority of the participants in this research will
presumably perceive Blacks/ African Americans as criminals. The reason I presume participants will
most likely steer towards Blacks/ African Americans being criminals is for the reason that recently
there has been numerous encounters of police brutality portrayed in the media. Police officers have
been under critical observation due to the excessive reports relating to brutality, discrimination, and
self–defense. The way the media illustrates these stories on the news, shapes and constructs
criminals and their crime based on age, gender and ethnicity to society. Thereby, this has led
societies to question the role of the media and crime and has led to many debates about the effects of
the media on individuals and on crimes. The survey created to conduct this research consists of
twelve questions. Males and females were asked to take this survey and later the results were
evaluated side to side to

Social Medi A Great Way For Someone With Share Information...
Social Media is a great way for someone to share information with people from different cultures
and backgrounds. It is also a great way to stay connected to family and friends from all over the
world. Also, a great way to get to know more about someone that you may have recently met. Social
media has become a very important part of everyone's life but this new activity has its advantages
and disadvantages, especially in the workplace. At the UCF Community Care Center, we do have a
social media page on Facebook. Our Facebook page was established for a number of reasons. UCF

Now, after seeing this post, I regretted accepting this 'friend request" and immediately "unfriend"
this employee. Some people tend to use social media, especially Facebook as an outlet and would
often rant and rave about certain things, and this is exactly what my employee did. She ranted on
Facebook instead of coming to me directly. As the new Practice Manager, I had made some changes
and implemented some rules that have to be followed by everyone but I was not aware that this was
creating a discomfort to some employees. I felt that I should have the type of relationship with my
employees where if something is bothering them then they should be able to talk to me directly. As a
Practice Manager, I am not in a co–worker relationship with my employees but rather in a
supervisor–subordinate relationship. My primary responsibility is to build and maintain a good
working bond with each of my employees. It is also my responsibility to establish guidelines and
avoid mixing business with pleasure. Interaction between my employees and myself should be an
acceptable one. As their manager, I will clearly outline what is expected from employees. My job is
to ensure that everyone remains productive throughout the day. My job is not to be everyone's friend
but instead I will maintain a take–charge attitude to avoid being taken advantage of by my
subordinates. I will always be professional and continue to practice good customer service, avoid

A Negative Way Of People Can Make Others Feel Welcome And...
After considering the list of ways people can make others feel welcome and valued or like outsiders:
I have come to the conclusion that each event listed could be interpreted in a positive way and used
for good or may be interpreted in a negative way and used to fuel my oppression.
For example, "Whether we look at people when we talk with them", one way of looking at that
would be to interpret that person as snobbish and they are not paying attention. Another way of
looking at it would be to understand that they are shy, or uncomfortable with people. The negative
reaction focuses on "Me", my wants, my needs, and how that person is not fulfilling them. The
positive reaction focuses on "Them", understanding their wants, their needs, and how that person
might be feeling. I challenge you to look at each of those situations and find two results: one that
hinders my growth and one that excels my growth.
I believe the goal is always to make others feel welcome and valued. Although, people say stupid
things and their intentions are genuinely good. In my opinion it is never o.k. to intentionally berate
another human being. Likewise, if you cannot say something encouraging do not speak. If you are
asked, speak the truth in love. Likewise, sometimes the truth hurts and we like to justify our actions
and blame others.
I talk to so many clients during the day and many of them say stupid remarks, but I know they do
not mean animosity towards me or anyone else. We must use discernment to

What Makes People Act The Way They Do?
What Makes People Act The Way They Do?
By Anthony Burger What makes people act the way they do? We've examined three books and have
come up with an answer to this question. The question itself sparks many ideas and answers, and
we're going to go through all of those and come up with one final answer in the conclusion.
In The Monkey's Paw, a man named Sgt. Major Morris comes into Mr. and Mrs. White's home with
a strange talisman in the name of the Monkey's Paw. It's use is to possibly grant a wish, but a man
had cursed it. When you wish there is a consequence. The first wish Mr. White wishes for is 200
pounds (european money), and ends up with a dead son and 200 pounds in his pocket. What made
him act this way? It was greed. He wanted this

Ways To Get Rid Of Labeling People
One of the main questions is why people are judged for being overweight. It's not right for people to
make fun of them and something needs to be done about this. People are made fun of every single
day for being fat or overweight. I think that these people that do this do it to make themselves feel
good. It makes them feel good because they are different than the people they are making fun of.
They are skinnier than the other person so that makes them feel better than the other person
therefore they think they are better than them. Although they are not as good as them, they are
bullying them and being extremely rude. We can try to change this but I do not think there is a way
to completely get rid of labeling people. To try to change this I believe that if we just bring
awareness to labeling people then people may start to realize that it is wrong. While brining
awareness to it, to try to get rid of labeling, the main focus should be showing that being different is
ok. By showing this maybe kids will realize someway how they are different from other kids and
they will recognize that labeling is wrong. Hopefully they will stop it themselves, apologize to
anybody they have bullied and join in to try to stop bulling. There are many ways to show ... Show

One way is you can go defend the person yourself. If you go over you may be able to get the bully
to stop and leave. If you prefer not to go alone then grab an adult to go over with you and confront
the bully. By doing this the adult can make disciplinary actions to solve this problem. If the
disciplinary actions do not solve the problem then further actions need to solve this problem. By this
I mean ISS and OSS. The ISS and OSS are not permanent. Give them a few days until you can think
of a solution to get this kid to stop bullying people. This could lead to things such as therapy. Any
way to stop bullying is a good

Stereotypes Are A Useful Way To Classify People
Stereotyping is always a useful way to make decisions about people
Stereotypes are a way to classify people who make up society. We organize people in different social
groups. But, do these beliefs correspond to reality?
Firstly, one of the advantages of stereotypes is that they can help us understand the behaviour of
other people, which we considerer distinct to our group. For instance, if you know some "hippie"
and think that he lives in a free way and looks inelegant, these factors are part of their essence and
are what is expected of them. Although, they do not agree with that part of the hippy community,
they must represent the values of the community or movement to which they belong. In addition,
another positive aspect is if you are a refined and well–mannered person, you may feel attracted to
other people with different stereotypes to yours, such as hippies. ... Show more content on

Such as, if someone sees a young person wearing many tattoos or piercings, he may think that he
has a bad life or that he will never go to university. Then, you get a surprise, and you discover that
the tattooed person works in a bank or is an important broker in Wall Street. Consequently, it is
another drawback, when a first bad impression occurs, we can miss the opportunity to meet very
interesting people.
To conclude, stereotypes there are advantages and disadvantages. However, before judging
somebody by their appearance or culture, we should give ourselves the opportunity to know and
admit that we are not always right and appearances

Ways People Respond To Conflict Essay
People respond to conflict in many ways. A few such ways include responding to conflict through
lying, deception, and caving in to survive. These are the cases with "Diary of Anne Frank." and
"HItler youth."
Lying is one way people deal with conflict. Why wouldn't it be. An example would be from the
Diary of Anne Frank. The Diary is in the point of view of a young girl and her family hiding from
the Nazis. She details her experiences in the annex as well as her thoughts and feelings of herself
and others around her. Essentially, Anne and her family lie to the government and neighbors. There
have even been many times when the Nazis have lied. They have lied to Jews by telling them they
would be taking showers and killed them. Lying seems normal in situations of conflict. People may
lie to save themselves or to save others. People may also lie to achieve a sort of goal, whether it be
good or bad. It seems to be a very common way of responding to conflict.
Deception falls into a similar, if not the same, category of lying. It is a trick or scheme to get what
you want. Again the example of this would be when Anne and her family hid in the annex. This, like
I said before, was to escape the Nazis and concentration camps. It ... Show more content on

It means listening to whomever you need to and doing things even if you don't agree with them to
survive. Many people, in any situation where conflict presents itself, will follow a leader even if
they know it's wrong to protect themselves or their family. This is the case with "HItler Youth". The
excerpt describes how life was for some people living under Hitler. Boys would join the Hitler youth
program and schools had to follow a Hitler approved curriculum. The teachers did not agree with the
new curriculum however they followed it for fear of being fired or sent to a concentration camp.
One case explained how a teacher was talking bad about the curriculum. The Hitler youth came in
and harassed the teacher some even

Social Cognition : The Way People Process, Storage And...
Social cognition studies the way people process, storage and apply information relate to other and
social situations. It specifically focuses on the cognitive processes we use when in social
interactions. The way we perceive others play an important role in how we feel, think and interact
with our environment. For example, imagine you are going to your dream job interview. The first
impression influences the way the interviewer seems you. That first impression is so powerful that it
will be a key point to whether hire you or not. Social psychologies seek to understand the nature and
causes of our behaviors, feelings and thoughts in social situation. Social psychologist tries to figure
out the ways in which our thoughts feelings and actions are influenced by society. In general, social
cognition is how we think about the social world around us. The social world around us influences
our way of thinking, the manner in which we interpret, analyze, remember and use that information
about the social world. Availability Heuristic is a mental shortcut which makes it easier to derive
previous information. They come to mind when making decisions which helps us to arrive quickly
to a conclusion. This easiness to retrieve the information makes us believe that it must be very
frequent. For example, after seeing several news reports about shoplifting, you might make a
judgment that shoplifting is much more common than it really is in your area. ( pg. 37) Availability
heuristic is the

Does Language Affect The Way People Think Or Is It The...
Does the language affects the way people think or is it the other way around? Our textbook,
Cognitive Exploration of Language and Linguistics by Rene Dirven, provides two theories:
linguistic relativity and universalism. Researchers who believe linguistic relativity claim that
language affects the ways in which its respective speakers conceptualize their world. Benjamin Lee
Whorf, representative researcher for linguistic relativity, argues that language determines thought,
and that linguistic categories limit and determine cognitive categories. Universalism, which is a
contrasting concept to the linguistic relativity, assumes that human thought is significantly alike
across all cultures and that since language is a reflection of human thought, all languages are
similarly related. For instance, every language has equivalent terms for live and death. Universalists
use terms semantic primes and universal concepts to explain this phenomenon. In fact, both theories,
linguistic relativity and universalism, could be advocated. However, after some strong researches
done by universalists, Whorfian view or linguistic relativity theory has been undermined and
abandoned in academic society.
Although there are some weaknesses to linguistic relativity theory, it is not difficult to find examples
of Whorfian theory in our everyday life. For instance, compare to the people in the US, Koreans are
really sensitive about the age since he or she must use different language to the elder person.

The Ways the British Government Attempted to Hide the...
The Ways the British Government Attempted to Hide the Effects of the Blitz from the People
For the British civilians bearing the home front of the Blitz was both a frightening and surreal
experience. In Britain, most people expect to be told the truth, and newspapers and radios are
allowed to speak the facts. However once the country was at war it all changed, and the British
people had to accept that the Government who took control of the media was for the good of the
country. Specific facts and details of bombings weren't shown in the whole truth, and often the news
was twisted to focus on the heroism of the British. This became known as propaganda and
censorship, and were tools to keep the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was used in countries like Germany and Italy and was done using great force, whereas in Great
Britain it needed to be subtler. By using government guidelines the media censored itself, however
the government would step in if these rules were broken. In either Democracies or Dictatorships the
result was the same – any information that may affect morale and the war effort was to be banned.
So the Government needed to have the full support of the media in order to "Brain wash" the people
of Britain, and if the media did not co–operate then newspapers and magazines were closed down.
At the start of WW2 the Government set up the Ministry of Information to control what was being
said to the British public. It was the job of the ministry to persuade people that victory was at hand
despite the massive destruction and death toll around them. This was opened in September 1939,
and from August 1941 was helped by the Political Warfare Executive, in order to produce mostly
black propaganda aimed at other countries. Propaganda faced no restrictions, and all governments
were prepared to lie to help them win the war. One of the aims was to reach a conclusion without
first examining the information. The two most important uses of propaganda were to praise one side,
which were fighting for the right reasons, and to also

Why Do People Behave The Way They Do
n 'A leaders' guide to why people behave the way they do', Clawson points leaders who want to
increase their effectiveness at leading through influence to the need to be able to dig deep below the
surface of the observable everyday human behaviour in order to understand why people behave the
way they do. Clawson argues that it is by paying attention to the human side of individuals –
people's Values, Attitudes, Beliefs and Expectations (VABEs) which together shape behaviour – that
gives leaders insights into people's motivations. As VABEs are deeply ingrained and shaped through
a combination of our genetic makeup, the experience of how we were nurtured and the beliefs and
values that we have picked along life's journey, understanding where

Donating food to the poor is a great thing to do. You can bring smiles to young faces and ease the
pain of hunger. Drop off extra meals or can goods at an agency that dispense food. Donate canned
fruit or vegetables to organizations that fight hunger. Canning your left over produce is a great way
to preserve it for others use. You can find a local shelter or food center that will accept canned food
as donations. You can even donate it to your church so they could use the food for their cupboard to
help the needy. You don't have to be a world class gourmet chef to donate food to needy people. A
big heart and fresh harvest or canned items will be adequate in sharing your bounty with others.
Donating clothes doesn't strictly refer to letting your outfits be resold at a local Good Will or
Salvation Army. These groups are great donating option and serve the community as an inexpensive
shopping option and through charitable efforts. However, there are some people that can't afford to
buy these items from Good Will or Salvation Army. Donate to a churches and /or shelters so that the
needy can get them for free. Donate clothes to the underprivileged for job interviews and occasions.
Shelters and charities welcome all kinds of clothing donations. Donate a warm winter coat that
you're not wearing anymore. Donate clothing that your children have out grown. Donate boots and

The Dreaming Is A Way For Indigenous People
The dreaming
The Dreaming is a way for Indigenous people to understand the world through its creation and
stories. It was created a long time ago when creation began and a way for Indigenous people to
express life and what The Dreaming means to the Indigenous community.
(Stanner, 1958, p. 48)
The Dreaming can be described as Aboriginal creative epoch and each language group have their
own values and beliefs, and what associates with it. (Edwards, 1998, p.79). For example, Kamilaroi
of Northern NSWs nation explores the spiritual connections through a name called Baiame, known
as 'All Father" who they believe is the supernatural ancestor and creator of earth. Baiame's stories of

The kinship
The kinship is a system that enables people to know precisely where they stand in relation to every
person and a group. It is the heart of Aboriginal culture, and controls all facets of social behaviours.
The Kinship system has been around for tens of thousands of years and is still used today. (Nations,
clans, family groups, 2016). It is a system that determines how people interact with others and how
people become related. Thus, controls who can get married and who supports who. Because there
are over 500 Aboriginal nations across Australia the system is helpful because it simplifies the
different clans and groups that share common kinship and language. (Nations, clans, family groups,
2016)
The Kamilaroi nation's kinship is based a lot around totems, that link between the spiritual world,
creation and the living world ("A Nations Identity Totems", n.d; para 1). Totems are a system that
looks at the community, how people work as a team, and the value of individual skill. (Totems,
2016). In a way totems provide people with a sense of belonging in relationships between a person
and group. In Kamilaroi, totems allow individuals to understand their connection to the scared land.

Three Ways People Respond To Crisis
How do people respond to crisis? There are many different ways people respond to crisis. We will
examine three ways people respond to crisis: people hide from it, people ignore it, and people take
action and stay calm. We will examine these three things with the help of the following passages:
"The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe; "Scurvy at Sea" from "making History with
Vitamin C" by Penny Le Couteur and Jay Burreson. And finally "Heroics Behind the Miracle on the
Hudson" written by Liana Stanley from "The New American". So, once again we will see three
ways people respond to crisis: people hide from it, they ignore it, and some people take action and
stay calm. People hide from crisis. What is exactly hiding from crisis, and ... Show more content on

Let's look at an example of this. In the magazine article from The New American titled "Heroics
Behind the Miracle on the Hudson" by Liana Stanley said "The Captain remained calm and in
control after the landing. As the occupants were escaping the sinking plane onto the wings and life
rafts, Sullenberger retrieved the planes manifest, to be used to account for all the passengers." As we
can see Captain Sullenberger took action, as the plane went down thanks to geese clogging the
engines, he landed the plane on the Hudson River. Then he got everyone out of the plane before
himself. He then grabbed the manifest which had all of the passenger's names and inspected the
whole plane twice, to make sure no one was inside. Once they got off the wings of the plane and
onto a boat he called role of all of the passengers. Captain Sullenberger was the last off of the plane,
and he is a true hero. He managed everything responsively and calm. Finally, everyone reacts to
crisis differently. Some people act scared and hide like price Prospero and his guests in the blue
room. Others ignore it like some sailors. And very few act brave and calm like Captain Sullenberger
did when he landed a plane on the Hudson River. Everyone can react differently in

Gender Identity And Its Effect On The Way People
Society has a tremendous effect on the way people see themselves as well as the way they see
others. When it comes to sex and gender, these two words are used interchangeably, even though
they are different. Sex is what a person is biologically born with, whereas Gender is how a person is
seen in society, their roles, and their accepted behavior. Gender identity is a person's inner sense of
being male or female and a display of that. Jayme Poisson writes an article, "Parents Keep Child's
Gender Secret," on two parents that decided to raise their newborn child genderless. The couple also
allows their other children to display whichever gender they choose, not conforming with "how
they're expected to look and act based on their sex," (Poisson 366). Kwame Anthony Appiah
describes the idea of being able to respect the traditions of others without having to agree with or
understand them in "Making Conversation". Women and men are, not surprisingly, treated very
differently in society. In "Human Dignity" Francis Fukuyama writes about equality and the essence
that humans possess. Society creates a stigma for men who act feminine and women who act
masculine, creating a negative impact on ones gender identity, specifically on the description of
gender roles, and how certain products are marketed.
Gender identity in society is seen as important and necessary. So much so, that raising a genderless
child is seen as taboo. In Poisson's article, she introduces parents Kathy Witterick and

Ways Of Being By Indigenous People
Ways of Being
Indigenous people believe that they are part of the existing entities and have rights to earned and
bestowed the resources to country, self and others (Martin & Mirraboopa, 2003). They thought that
physical world is co–existed with human world. So that they must protect the physical world as their
guardians (Martin & Mirraboopa, 2003). Their ways of being also change when the relations change
among the people and amongst the entities. The experiences of one is for all and the experiences of
others are also for one; this is learnt each other through "reciprocity, obligation, shared experiences,
coexistence, cooperation and social memory" (Martin & Mirraboopa, 2003, p. 210). Arbon (2008)

Discussion
Australian Indigenous epistemology is the communication and interpretation and experiencing of
physical world, human world and scared world with the Indigenous perspectives of knowing, being
and doing. Base on the literature review, the Australian Indigenous epistemology can be described as
the following diagram. First of all, human world received the knowledge from physical world by
experiencing, controlling and organizing their ways of knowing. Then, this knowledge is embodied,
reciprocal and relatedness to apply in the communication and co–existing processes with other
entities, to create ways of being. The ways of being support the emergence of scared world through
sharing and learning processes of Indigenous community. In addition, ways of doing is synthesis and
articulation of Indigenous ways of knowing and ways of being to develop laws, power, culture and
essence to assist the scared world. Likewise, scared world also contributes the ways of doing by
setting up the concept of do no harm approach and co–existence with other entitles to maintain and
guard to become a sustainable physical world. To sum up, Australian indigenous epistemology is a
unique and the steps are link each other as a packed one in its origin.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are many articles related to Australian Indigenous epistemology, but this article

College and Business
College is the best way for people to be successful. A famous journalist, Dan Rater has said, "A
college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because
it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity." Many people feel lost after they graduated
high school, they don't know what challenge is waiting for them; and they have to make the toughest
decision in their lives: either go to college or go to work, those two choices will completely change
people's lives. Education can improve people's lives, and everybody can be educated by going to

their intended major. As college students, if they choose the right major, that means they will steer
their destiny and have a bright future. Otherwise, if people make an improper decision, they will not
just waste their time and money in college, but also will ruin their lives and future by themselves. In
the other hand, the number of people who choose business as their major is increasing, which means
business is becoming more and more popular and many people start to realize the important of

People used to relate the firms and companies to business, because the use of business is very

lots of people who have plenty of business skills; so that is one of the reason why many students
choose business as their major. Business are becoming more and more significant for people, even

The Ways the British Government Tried to Hide the Effects of the Blitz from the British People
The government wanted to hide the effects of the blitz for many reasons. By doing this they were
protecting the public as well as continuing the battle against the Germans. As the effects were
hidden normal life could continue and therefore so could the war effort and morale of the public.
Many methods were used in doing this. The government used radio, newspapers, press, posters, film
reels and the cinema to give information to the public, while still able to hold back any information
seen to be damaging to the British war effort and morale through censorship, propaganda and
distraction the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slogans such as "Britain can take it" were used to show the country as surviving in spite of the
ongoing attacks as "bombs can only kill people, they cannot destroy the indomitable spirit of a
nation."
The government also tried to exaggerate victories. For example, on 15th September 1940, after a
massive daylight air raid on London, the BBC announced that, according to official figures, 180
German planes had been shot down. In truth, the number was about sixty. Propaganda was also used
to ridicule and counter that of Germany, in the ongoing struggle for control between the two
countries. E.g. the Ministry of Information
Censorship was used greatly by the government to hide the effects of the Blitz from the public. To
disguise the real effects of the bombing on people newspapers only published positive stories and
images and photographs of large casualties were not published. In Oct 1940 Balham underground
station was hit by a bomb which burst a water main and 64 people drowned. But photos of this were
never published and the story was not released. Censorship was used for the prevention of hysteria
and panic. The bombing of Balham Station would have caused panic as many underground stations
were used as shelters. Many papers were condensed to only 4 pages due to censorship
Censorship was also used as damage

reasons for the statement above. I can focus my attention on the addiction and heroin (opiates) I can
first blame the parent his helpless victims and place the blame of the actual substance. How the
opioids are a psychostimulant and send messages to neuronal pathways in the brain, spinal cord, and
pituitary gland.
Furthermore, I can have justified that the two parents are helpless victims in which heroin is causing
them to neglect their children. And it is not

Facebook Has Changed The Way People
According to "The Facebook Effect" Facebook is the second most visited web site on earth after
Google. Most users spend around an hour a day of the website. It has over 400 million active users
(at the time the book was written). Even more astonishing the number of people join was about 5
percent a month. "Were the growth rate if both Facebook and the Internet to remain steady, by 2013
every single person online worldwide would be on Facebook". To me that is an amazing fact and
shows not only how popular Facebook is but how it truly changed the way people connected and
communicated. According to author David Kirkpatrick Facebook is a "platform for people to get
more out of their lives," and an "entirely new form of communication." ... Show more content on

There was no reason to sell. Facebook did well on its own raising the capital it needed one of its
earliest investors was Peter Theil. In fact to this day as a public company Zuckerberg still maintains
complete financial control of the company as its Chairman and CEO, although he only owns about
20% of the company's stock. One of the interesting facts that the "The Facebook Effect" talks about
is how Zuckerberg never created Facebook for profit. His idea wasn't' to create a company that
would one day be worth billions of dollars and make him a billionaire. Instead his idea and focus
was to create a company that could link people together although he never intend for Facebook to
replace face to face communication. The book does lack in detail the accounts of lawsuits against
Facebook. One of the biggest one being a lawsuit filed against Zuckerberg in which three Harvard
students say Zuckerberg stole their idea for Facebook. Interesting enough all the people interviewed
for the book Eduardo Saverin who also filed a lawsuit was not interviewed. The success of
Facebook could be seen from the start. Within four days of Zuckerberg creating the website it had
over 600 users. Facebook is more than just connecting with others. "It's become a platform for
people to get more out of their lives." Besides changing the way people communicate it has also

Frankenstein As A Bildungsroman And The Way That People
Greg Repa

History 307

Frankenstein
Within the first few years of life, babies gain a sense of self awareness. They start to realize that they
are different from the objects and people around them physically. There are many ways that people
can feel a sense of self identity or association within a group. People could identify themselves as
something small, like the town they are from or the school they attend. Or they could identify as a
bigger group of people like their religious beliefs and nationality. This paper will look at
"Frankenstein as a Bildungsroman" and the way that people in Europe during the nineteenth century
could gain knowledge and a view of self–awareness and how people gain knowledge today. One
thing that is fascinating is that the nameless monster in the book is actually the Frankenstein that
people tend to think of, with the big square green head, whereas, his creator's last name is actually
Frankenstein. This is important because as the book progresses, the reader gets a sense that maybe
the monster and his creator, are not so different after all. Although Victor (the creator) was born with
a family and has friends, he distances himself from them when he finds his love for science. They
also both try to help humanity at first but then they both feel depressed and remorse from the recent
past. They also both use the weather and nature to indicate their mood and feelings. When it is nice
outside he is hopeful and

Ways People Benefit From South
What are ways people benefit from South? Ways people benefit from South are being a student who
continuously is on their work, engaged to what needs to be done, and being a responsible young
adult that wants to better themselves as a person, acknowledging the potential they have from the
tools provided by the school. Students being self driven give them an opportunity to excel in their
education. Going in re–taking quizzes, tests, doing work show the students willingness to succeed .
While many U.S. schools struggle with diversity, south successfully is full of diversity and different
cultures. In an article "The Century Foundation" I found this quote very interesting and somewhat
relatable to south. "The benefits of school diversity run in all directions. There is increasing
evidence that diversity that makes us smarter." I believe diversity at south makes students smarter
just by being together. I wanted to ask someone about diversity and this was their response "South

schools, South could improve in the area of lack of education innovation by teachers furthering their
knowledge as a teacher. In the article of Education Week's Blogs this quote states "It stands to
reason that if students are changing, teachers must too." I believe this is true , there are some
teachers who are not good at what they do or how they go about their lessons. Teachers play a big
role in this topic of discussion because they should want to change themselves, but in a positive way
. "Some students don't get the help they need." Says Tyanna. This is an issue because I feel teachers
at South focus more on the kids who are not capable like others. If South were to take this into
action students could possibly be more engaged "They could improve their curriculum." Teachers
today tend to teach the same things each year , so if their curriculum improved everyone could

The Most Common Ways People Identify Themselves
Race is one of the most common ways people identify themselves. There are different advantages
and disadvantages associated with different races. People are often judged on how they look and act.
Some people benefit more than others just based on race. Others can be put at a disadvantage
because of their sexual orientation. The family you are born into can have a major impact on how
you are seen and what type of privileges and struggles you will face in life. Looking at my life
specifically, I will reflect on how the culture, including race and gender, from the past and present
can influence people's lives in general and in education. My mom's side of the family arrived in the
United States in the late 1800's. Both of my grandmother and grandfather's families came to the
United States voluntarily. My grandmother's family came from England. Her grandfather, who came
from an affluent family, first arrived in Ellis Island, New York, but later settled in the Maryland
Eastern Shore. Similarly, my grandfather's family settled in the Maryland Eastern Shore after
coming from Czech Republic. Though they came voluntarily, they feared the Russians taking over
their country so decided to leave. On each side of the family, farming was the main type of work
they engaged in. Both sides started attending school in the early 1900's. At this time it was only
common to attend school for a few years because staying at home to attend the farm was more of
priority than formal schooling. My

The Death Penalty Is A Way Of Punish People
Death Penalty
The death penalty is a way to punish people because they have committed a crime. It has been
around since the 18th century BC. According the article titled "History of the Death Penalty" written
by Reggion, the death penalty wasn't just for those who will kill others, but it was also for those who
used "magic, made insulting songs, the cutting or grazing of crops planted by a farmer, the burning
[of] a house or a stack of corn near a house, cheating by a patron of his client, perjury, making
disturbances at night in the city" (Reggio 1). Today, in the 21st century, the death penalty is to
punish those who have committed a capital murder. The death penalty has had many different forms.
For example, in the 18 century BC the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The death penalty has both pros and cons. The pros about having the death penalty legal are that it is
cheaper than having someone in jail for life, death is simply a punishment, the killer won't be able to
kill anybody else, and people will be scared to kill others (deterrence). The cons about the death
penalty are discrimination, it's morally wrong, innocent people are wrongly executed, it's an added
cost to tax payers, the legal process itself takes long, and lastly some criminals suffer from mental
illness. Analyzing both the pros and cons, I believe that the death penalty should become illegal in
all states, not just some states. The reason being is because the government (no one in general)
shouldn't decide when a life should end. In this paper, I will present claims that will prove why the
death penalty should become illegal in all states, rather than becoming legal in the remaining 19
states.
The death penalty contradicts itself. One major point of the death penalty is to punish those who
have committed a crime (capital crime). But, more specifically the point of a punishment is for a
person to learn from their mistakes, but it could also be a time when a person can think about what
they did. For example, when a child does something they're not supposed to do, a typical parent
would usually put them on timeout, facing the wall for a while. Once they get out of timeout, a lot of
the times they don't

The Changes in the Way People Learn
Over time the way people learn, obtain and remember information has drastically changed and will
most likely continue to change. I will explore several of the changes from print technology, to
recording technology to computers and cellphones. Many years ago very few people knew how to
read, it was not until printing technology was improved that everyone began to learn to read. Before
printing began all books were printed by hand by specially skilled people and it took several months
to finish just one book causing them to be very rare and expensive so that only the wealthiest people
could afford them (Bernstein 109). After Gutenberg invented his printing press which had
replaceable movable letters used like stamps causing more books to be printed at a time (Bellis). The
number of books available greatly rose causing the price of the books to decrease drastically so that
even the poorest people could afford them. With this change many people were able to learn how to
read. With this new found knowledge the way we learned changed, before people had to remember
everything and after printing began to be cheaper people did not have to remember like before they
could just read and write to take notes. Lecture Capture is used to record both video and audio of a
class so that the students who have a legitimate reason for missing class such as a sickness or a
school game they need to be present at can watch and listen at a later time (DeSantis 6). It is a good
idea as people

43617760. There Are Many Ways That Groups Of People Allocate
43617760 There are many ways that groups of people allocate goods. The most common way to do
this in modern culture is through a market. Markets, as Carruthers and Babb describe it in chapter 1,
are the particular supply and demand of any given good or service that are exchanged for a value of
money with certain given information. As Wright and Best describe in chapter 3, this way of
organizing an economy allows for an effective way to step up an economy. Additionally, it gives the
maximum freedom to buy and sell as one pleases. Such markets can take place in any number of
forms and are influenced by society's expectations, religious practices, politics, our relationships
with those around us, and many other ways. As was noted in ... Show more content on

Whether through their spending policies, taxing policies or lack there of, or days that are considered
holidays the state has great influence. These can sometimes can be seen as a harmful set of actions,
but as Bandelj and Sowers point out in chapter one these acts by the state have a real importance to
how the economy works. The state as noted above takes an important role in managing things that
are not natural. Without the government to regulate these things we not be able to sustain these now
vital and constructive institutions. This state interference in the market, good or bad, has a profound
effect on parts that ripple into the whole of the market. This relationship in the market is on grand
scale, but the social institutional relationship does not always have to be.
The relationships that we have with particular people also greatly affect how we interact with the
market. Particularly in regards to cultural and societal expectations. When someone goes to college
they are expected to get a MacBook for school from their family as a parting gift. When someone
gets a big promotion they buy a new car or sometimes even a new house to show as a visible
announcement that they have improved their life. Society expects, as one improves their status, to
improve their possessions and interact with the market in more significant ways. Sometimes though
we can be influenced to

Conformity Influence The Way People Conform
Factors that Influence People to Conform
Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and and. behaviors to .group. norms(Boundless,
2014). Simplifying it; Crutchfield in 1995 is quoted .saying that conformity is basically labeled as
"yielding to group pressures"(McLeod, 2007). The majority of people conform to their surrounding
standards without even noticing it(Advameg, 2014). Conforming is not necessarily bad or good.
Advameg (2014) gives the example of how people stop at a red light even though a law enforcer
may not be around. A small amount of conformity is required to have an organized
society(Boundless, 2014). However the view of conformity is .distinct .from .nation to nation. Since
conventionality does exist everywhere, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this particular experiment, partakers were asked to choose a line that matched the size of one of
three different lines (Myers & DeWall, 2014). Typically the participants would answer correctly,
choosing the string that was identical. During one query the two confederates involved in the project
would deliberately choose the wrong answer. Consequently during the same question, around thirty
three percent of participants conformed to the confederate's response one time or more (Cherry,
2013). The thing that makes these results different from informational conformity is that the correct
answer was obvious. Solomon's project is an excellent case in point of normative influence.
Normative influence is "Yielding to group pressure because a person wants to fit in with the group"
(McLeod, 2007). Solomon Asch's experiment also gave insight of why people conform. (Myers &
DeWall, 2014) People conform when they feel inept, or in a group where every person has the same
opinion. If another person agrees the results are different (Myers & DeWall, 2014). Solomon Asch
also observed how people displayed extreme discomfort when confronted with the decision to
disagree with the group (Myers & DeWall, 2014). Solomon Asch's project showed signs of several
conformity factors. First on the list is unanimity. More people conform in situations where the
group's response is undisputed (Boundless, 2014). "Groups high in cohesion

Part Two: Six Ways To Make People Like You
Part Two: Six Ways to Make People Like You The second of the four parts introduces six ways to
make others like you. Carnegie believes an essential component in winning friends and influencing
people is the ability to be liked. In part two, Carnegie introduces lifestyle changes that will allow
you to be well–liked inside and outside of work. In illustrating the first way to make people like you,
Carnegie states that fact that the most used word in telephone conversations is "I". He says this
because the best way to win people over is to become genuinely interested in them and what they
have to say. Using this method will work in professional settings just as much, if not more, than it
will in personal settings. People want to talk to, buy from, do favors for, etc. for someone that they
believe is genuinely interested in them. Those who fail to take an interest in others run into more
difficulties in life than those who do not. The first way to make people like you is this: "Become
genuinely interested in other people." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

James McConnell, a professor at The University of Michigan, teaches that people who smile more

will even over the phone because people can hear that you are happy. Carnegie believes people
rarely succeed unless they are having fun doing it. The second way to make people like you is this:

Gender Roles Are The Way People Act
Gender in "Baby Daddy" TV show, Essay
"Gender roles are the way people act, what they do and say, to express being a girl or a boy, a
woman or a man. These characteristics are shaped by society," (Gender Roles) These roles constitute
the standards of the society and they are transmitted from one generation to another by education.
Children learn these standards since their birth. Parents teach them how to act, to say and to behave
according to their sex. Also, children learn the gender roles from other sources like school,
neighborhood and television. Actually, television is playing a significant role in the education of
people. From different programs presented on television, children acquire many knowledge about
how to live, to speak and to behave according to the roles attribute to men and women. In the USA,
"Baby Daddy" television show is one of the program which teaches people about the gender roles.
"Baby Daddy" show spreads the gender roles by three different ways, first by the way the personal
characters of men and women are described, secondly, by the attitude of men and women toward the
Domestic behaviors, finally, by the way professional occupation of men and women are presented.
"Baby Daddy", is a television show which demonstrates how a boy single parent assumes the
parental responsibilities. In the season one, first, second and third episodes, Ben discovers a baby in

Culture Is A Way Of Life Shared By People
Culture is a way of life shared by people in a society. Culture is exceptional, although it may have
other things in common with other cultures. According to American Culture, "Culture encompasses
religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is
right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a
million other things," said Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College in
London. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. According to
People & Culture, within its vast area, Nigeria has over 250 different ethnic groups, all with their
own languages and heritage. Cultures are made and followed according to the society or family one
comes from or was born in.
According to "USA – Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette, Americans are extremely informal,

some of the stereotypes are true, especially American friendliness and informality. People tend to
not wait to be introduced, will begin to speak with strangers as they stand in a queue, sit next to each

Thinking Is A Way That People Make Decisions
Thinking Thinking is a way that people make decisions. They think in black and white and don't like
the gray areas. Thinkers tend to be task–oriented, brief, and businesslike (Thinking vs. feeling, n.d.).
People who prefer thinking over feeling prefer to form their opinions after thoroughly analyzing
problems. They try to understand assumptions and figure out what could be the consequences of
actions before they get to them. Their main concern is how decisions will affect the bottom line.
Thinkers like debates because they believe it brings issues to the table and the group can talk them
out and come to conclusions. They expect other people's arguments to build to a conclusion and not
just be a ramble. They try to treat everybody equally, but also use their authority when determining
how new things will be implemented (Hammer, 2015). They can come off as cold because they don't
consider other people's emotions when making decisions (Collins, n.d.). By having this kind of
outlook, it can cause many problems. Sometimes thinkers are too focused on supporting their own
position and don't listen to their colleagues. Thinkers can sometimes are too aggressive in stating
their opinions or asking questions that come off as attacking others. They can also be thought of as
failing to appreciate the hard work and effort that other people have put into projects. To help
thinkers get along and be productive in the workplace, thinkers can look for a common ground so

Ways People Are Alike Analysis
People go through life thinking that they understand every person, every situation, and every
lifestyle. The fact of the matter is, nobody understands what anyone is going through unless they
have experienced it themselves. As children we are taught that everyone is equal and that we should
treat each other as such. I am very fortunate to have grown up with the most amazing and supportive
parents who had always found a way to make sure I was happy and healthy. Even though not
everyone had the same experiences I did, as a child I thought that everyone had both parents and
always got the new toy or had new clothes for school because I thought that everyone being equal
meant that everyone was as well taken care of as I was. Now obviously as I've grown up I have
realized how amazingly lucky I am to be so blessed, and that not everyone is as lucky. I feel like
trying to understand how other people feel during certain situations would be very hard because I

I also feel like trying to pretend like I would know how they felt or to try and tell someone else that

would never fully understand how a situation had affected them. People are always trying to feel
empathy for others, which makes sense, but trying to say that you understand what someone has
gone through is not fair for the affected person. Many people judge others based on their looks, or
how much money they have, or how they deal with certain situations, and I believe that it is not fair
for anyone to judge someone else, ever, but especially on how they handled something because you
have no idea how it really affected

Reading In The Digital Age: Has The Internet Changed The Way People Read?
The Internet is, I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest resources the world has
produced. One can get volumes and volumes of information in an instant. The information is
available to anyone no matter where he or she is on the globe. Now one can work from home, in the
car while on holiday, basically anywhere with an Internet connection. One can communicate with
friends and interact with them no matter where they are. Social media, programs like Skype and
other Internet based products enable people to communicate better from a distance. We are all

They were convinced and adamant in their belief that the changes were because of the Internet. They
had several reasons why they blamed the Internet for the changes and at the end of the interview; I
let them enumerate the reasons.
My first interviewee told me that he now found it harder to remember things. He kept forgetting
simple things like dates, locations and products names. He found it harder to remember facts after
just a short time. I tested it out during the interview and I witnessed him having to confirm facts
from the Internet. I asked inquired why he was so sure that it was the Internet's fault that he was
having memory problems and he gave me several. The first one was that he never used to have that
problem before. He says that in school he was pretty good at remembering things and he regularly
won memory games. He said that he started experiencing the problems when he got into college and
started relying on the net for his work and pleasure. He confessed that he did not go anywhere
without his smartphone, tablet or laptop. He is always on his phone and most of the time he is
surfing. He could not find another reason for his memory problems other than the Internet.
After the interviews I went ahead and did some research for myself and see if it was possible that
the Internet was to blame. Scientists have indeed found a connection between how we remember
things and the Internet. They conducted research that indicated that people who

  • 1. The Role Of Media On Influencing The Way People Perceive... Introduction Public knowledge of a crime is predominantly obtained from the media. Crime–related media such as crime on the news and crime–dramas has proven to serve as a great impact in how countless individuals feel about the world surrounding them, and even more importantly, how they feel about the criminals portrayed by the media. This research paper examines the role the media plays on influencing the way people perceive the relationship and punitive attitudes between race and crime. In my hypothesis, I believe that the majority of the participants in this research will presumably perceive Blacks/ African Americans as criminals. The reason I presume participants will most likely steer towards Blacks/ African Americans being criminals is for the reason that recently there has been numerous encounters of police brutality portrayed in the media. Police officers have been under critical observation due to the excessive reports relating to brutality, discrimination, and self–defense. The way the media illustrates these stories on the news, shapes and constructs criminals and their crime based on age, gender and ethnicity to society. Thereby, this has led societies to question the role of the media and crime and has led to many debates about the effects of the media on individuals and on crimes. The survey created to conduct this research consists of twelve questions. Males and females were asked to take this survey and later the results were evaluated side to side to ... It is also a great way to stay connected to family and friends from all over the world. Also, a great way to get to know more about someone that you may have recently met. Social media has become a very important part of everyone's life but this new activity has its advantages and disadvantages, especially in the workplace. At the UCF Community Care Center, we do have a social media page on Facebook. Our Facebook page was established for a number of reasons. UCF Community Care Center Facebook page "facilitates open communication, leading to enhanced information discovery and delivery; allows employees to discuss ideas, post ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, after seeing this post, I regretted accepting this 'friend request" and immediately "unfriend" this employee. Some people tend to use social media, especially Facebook as an outlet and would often rant and rave about certain things, and this is exactly what my employee did. She ranted on Facebook instead of coming to me directly. As the new Practice Manager, I had made some changes and implemented some rules that have to be followed by everyone but I was not aware that this was creating a discomfort to some employees. I felt that I should have the type of relationship with my employees where if something is bothering them then they should be able to talk to me directly. As a Practice Manager, I am not in a co–worker relationship with my employees but rather in a supervisor–subordinate relationship. My primary responsibility is to build and maintain a good working bond with each of my employees. It is also my responsibility to establish guidelines and avoid mixing business with pleasure. Interaction between my employees and myself should be an acceptable one. As their manager, I will clearly outline what is expected from employees. My job is to ensure that everyone remains productive throughout the day. My job is not to be everyone's friend but instead I will maintain a take–charge attitude to avoid being taken advantage of by my subordinates. • 9. A Negative Way Of People Can Make Others Feel Welcome And... After considering the list of ways people can make others feel welcome and valued or like outsiders: I have come to the conclusion that each event listed could be interpreted in a positive way and used for good or may be interpreted in a negative way and used to fuel my oppression. For example, "Whether we look at people when we talk with them", one way of looking at that would be to interpret that person as snobbish and they are not paying attention. Another way of looking at it would be to understand that they are shy, or uncomfortable with people. The negative reaction focuses on "Me", my wants, my needs, and how that person is not fulfilling them. The positive reaction focuses on "Them", understanding their wants, their needs, and how that person might be feeling. I challenge you to look at each of those situations and find two results: one that hinders my growth and one that excels my growth. I believe the goal is always to make others feel welcome and valued. Although, people say stupid things and their intentions are genuinely good. In my opinion it is never o.k. to intentionally berate another human being. Likewise, if you cannot say something encouraging do not speak. If you are asked, speak the truth in love. Likewise, sometimes the truth hurts and we like to justify our actions and blame others. I talk to so many clients during the day and many of them say stupid remarks, but I know they do not mean animosity towards me or anyone else. We must use discernment to ... • 13. What Makes People Act The Way They Do? What Makes People Act The Way They Do? By Anthony Burger What makes people act the way they do? We've examined three books and have come up with an answer to this question. The question itself sparks many ideas and answers, and we're going to go through all of those and come up with one final answer in the conclusion. In The Monkey's Paw, a man named Sgt. Major Morris comes into Mr. and Mrs. White's home with a strange talisman in the name of the Monkey's Paw. It's use is to possibly grant a wish, but a man had cursed it. When you wish there is a consequence. The first wish Mr. White wishes for is 200 pounds (european money), and ends up with a dead son and 200 pounds in his pocket. What made him act this way? • 17. Ways To Get Rid Of Labeling People One of the main questions is why people are judged for being overweight. It's not right for people to make fun of them and something needs to be done about this. People are made fun of every single day for being fat or overweight. I think that these people that do this do it to make themselves feel good. It makes them feel good because they are different than the people they are making fun of. They are skinnier than the other person so that makes them feel better than the other person therefore they think they are better than them. Although they are not as good as them, they are bullying them and being extremely rude. We can try to change this but I do not think there is a way to completely get rid of labeling people. To try to change this I believe that if we just bring awareness to labeling people then people may start to realize that it is wrong. While brining awareness to it, to try to get rid of labeling, the main focus should be showing that being different is ok. By showing this maybe kids will realize someway how they are different from other kids and they will recognize that labeling is wrong. Hopefully they will stop it themselves, apologize to anybody they have bullied and join in to try to stop bulling. There are many ways to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way is you can go defend the person yourself. If you go over you may be able to get the bully to stop and leave. If you prefer not to go alone then grab an adult to go over with you and confront the bully. By doing this the adult can make disciplinary actions to solve this problem. If the disciplinary actions do not solve the problem then further actions need to solve this problem. By this I mean ISS and OSS. The ISS and OSS are not permanent. Give them a few days until you can think of a solution to get this kid to stop bullying people. This could lead to things such as therapy. Any way to stop bullying is a good ... • 21. Stereotypes Are A Useful Way To Classify People Stereotyping is always a useful way to make decisions about people Stereotypes are a way to classify people who make up society. We organize people in different social groups. But, do these beliefs correspond to reality? Firstly, one of the advantages of stereotypes is that they can help us understand the behaviour of other people, which we considerer distinct to our group. For instance, if you know some "hippie" and think that he lives in a free way and looks inelegant, these factors are part of their essence and are what is expected of them. Although, they do not agree with that part of the hippy community, they must represent the values of the community or movement to which they belong. In addition, another positive aspect is if you are a refined and well–mannered person, you may feel attracted to other people with different stereotypes to yours, such as hippies. ... Then, you get a surprise, and you discover that the tattooed person works in a bank or is an important broker in Wall Street. Consequently, it is another drawback, when a first bad impression occurs, we can miss the opportunity to meet very interesting people. To conclude, stereotypes there are advantages and disadvantages. • 25. Ways People Respond To Conflict Essay People respond to conflict in many ways. A few such ways include responding to conflict through lying, deception, and caving in to survive. These are the cases with "Diary of Anne Frank." and "HItler youth." Lying is one way people deal with conflict. Why wouldn't it be. An example would be from the Diary of Anne Frank. The Diary is in the point of view of a young girl and her family hiding from the Nazis. She details her experiences in the annex as well as her thoughts and feelings of herself and others around her. Essentially, Anne and her family lie to the government and neighbors. There have even been many times when the Nazis have lied. They have lied to Jews by telling them they would be taking showers and killed them. Lying seems normal in situations of conflict. People may lie to save themselves or to save others. People may also lie to achieve a sort of goal, whether it be good or bad. It seems to be a very common way of responding to conflict. Deception falls into a similar, if not the same, category of lying. It is a trick or scheme to get what you want. Again the example of this would be when Anne and her family hid in the annex. This, like I said before, was to escape the Nazis and concentration camps. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It means listening to whomever you need to and doing things even if you don't agree with them to survive. Many people, in any situation where conflict presents itself, will follow a leader even if they know it's wrong to protect themselves or their family. This is the case with "HItler Youth". The excerpt describes how life was for some people living under Hitler. Boys would join the Hitler youth program and schools had to follow a Hitler approved curriculum. The teachers did not agree with the new curriculum however they followed it for fear of being fired or sent to a concentration camp. • 29. Social Cognition : The Way People Process, Storage And... Social cognition studies the way people process, storage and apply information relate to other and social situations. It specifically focuses on the cognitive processes we use when in social interactions. The way we perceive others play an important role in how we feel, think and interact with our environment. For example, imagine you are going to your dream job interview. The first impression influences the way the interviewer seems you. That first impression is so powerful that it will be a key point to whether hire you or not. Social psychologies seek to understand the nature and causes of our behaviors, feelings and thoughts in social situation. Social psychologist tries to figure out the ways in which our thoughts feelings and actions are influenced by society. In general, social cognition is how we think about the social world around us. The social world around us influences our way of thinking, the manner in which we interpret, analyze, remember and use that information about the social world. Availability Heuristic is a mental shortcut which makes it easier to derive previous information. They come to mind when making decisions which helps us to arrive quickly to a conclusion. This easiness to retrieve the information makes us believe that it must be very frequent. For example, after seeing several news reports about shoplifting, you might make a judgment that shoplifting is much more common than it really is in your area. • 33. Does Language Affect The Way People Think Or Is It The... Does the language affects the way people think or is it the other way around? Our textbook, Cognitive Exploration of Language and Linguistics by Rene Dirven, provides two theories: linguistic relativity and universalism. Researchers who believe linguistic relativity claim that language affects the ways in which its respective speakers conceptualize their world. Benjamin Lee Whorf, representative researcher for linguistic relativity, argues that language determines thought, and that linguistic categories limit and determine cognitive categories. Universalism, which is a contrasting concept to the linguistic relativity, assumes that human thought is significantly alike across all cultures and that since language is a reflection of human thought, all languages are similarly related. For instance, every language has equivalent terms for live and death. Universalists use terms semantic primes and universal concepts to explain this phenomenon. In fact, both theories, linguistic relativity and universalism, could be advocated. However, after some strong researches done by universalists, Whorfian view or linguistic relativity theory has been undermined and abandoned in academic society. Although there are some weaknesses to linguistic relativity theory, it is not difficult to find examples of Whorfian theory in our everyday life. For instance, compare to the people in the US, Koreans are really sensitive about the age since he or she must use different language to the elder person. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ways the British Government Attempted to Hide the Effects of the Blitz from the People For the British civilians bearing the home front of the Blitz was both a frightening and surreal experience. In Britain, most people expect to be told the truth, and newspapers and radios are allowed to speak the facts. However once the country was at war it all changed, and the British people had to accept that the Government who took control of the media was for the good of the country. Specific facts and details of bombings weren't shown in the whole truth, and often the news was twisted to focus on the heroism of the British. This became known as propaganda and censorship, and were tools to keep the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was used in countries like Germany and Italy and was done using great force, whereas in Great Britain it needed to be subtler. By using government guidelines the media censored itself, however the government would step in if these rules were broken. In either Democracies or Dictatorships the result was the same – any information that may affect morale and the war effort was to be banned. So the Government needed to have the full support of the media in order to "Brain wash" the people of Britain, and if the media did not co–operate then newspapers and magazines were closed down. At the start of WW2 the Government set up the Ministry of Information to control what was being said to the British public. It was the job of the ministry to persuade people that victory was at hand despite the massive destruction and death toll around them. This was opened in September 1939, and from August 1941 was helped by the Political Warfare Executive, in order to produce mostly black propaganda aimed at other countries. Propaganda faced no restrictions, and all governments were prepared to lie to help them win the war. One of the aims was to reach a conclusion without first examining the information. Why Do People Behave The Way They Do n 'A leaders' guide to why people behave the way they do', Clawson points leaders who want to increase their effectiveness at leading through influence to the need to be able to dig deep below the surface of the observable everyday human behaviour in order to understand why people behave the way they do. Clawson argues that it is by paying attention to the human side of individuals – people's Values, Attitudes, Beliefs and Expectations (VABEs) which together shape behaviour – that gives leaders insights into people's motivations. As VABEs are deeply ingrained and shaped through a combination of our genetic makeup, the experience of how we were nurtured and the beliefs and values that we have picked along life's journey, understanding where ... (Edwards, 1998, p. 79). The kinship The kinship is a system that enables people to know precisely where they stand in relation to every person and a group. It is the heart of Aboriginal culture, and controls all facets of social behaviours. The Kinship system has been around for tens of thousands of years and is still used today. (Nations, clans, family groups, 2016). It is a system that determines how people interact with others and how people become related. Thus, controls who can get married and who supports who. Because there are over 500 Aboriginal nations across Australia the system is helpful because it simplifies the different clans and groups that share common kinship and language. (Nations, clans, family groups, 2016) The Kamilaroi nation's kinship is based a lot around totems, that link between the spiritual world, creation and the living world ("A Nations Identity Totems", n.d; para 1). Totems are a system that looks at the community, how people work as a team, and the value of individual skill. (Totems, 2016). In a way totems provide people with a sense of belonging in relationships between a person and group. In Kamilaroi, totems allow individuals to understand their connection to the scared land. • 57. Three Ways People Respond To Crisis How do people respond to crisis? There are many different ways people respond to crisis. We will examine three ways people respond to crisis: people hide from it, people ignore it, and people take action and stay calm. We will examine these three things with the help of the following passages: "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe; "Scurvy at Sea" from "making History with Vitamin C" by Penny Le Couteur and Jay Burreson. And finally "Heroics Behind the Miracle on the Hudson" written by Liana Stanley from "The New American". So, once again we will see three ways people respond to crisis: people hide from it, they ignore it, and some people take action and stay calm. People hide from crisis. What is exactly hiding from crisis, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let's look at an example of this. In the magazine article from The New American titled "Heroics Behind the Miracle on the Hudson" by Liana Stanley said "The Captain remained calm and in control after the landing. As the occupants were escaping the sinking plane onto the wings and life rafts, Sullenberger retrieved the planes manifest, to be used to account for all the passengers." As we can see Captain Sullenberger took action, as the plane went down thanks to geese clogging the engines, he landed the plane on the Hudson River. Then he got everyone out of the plane before himself. He then grabbed the manifest which had all of the passenger's names and inspected the whole plane twice, to make sure no one was inside. Once they got off the wings of the plane and onto a boat he called role of all of the passengers. Captain Sullenberger was the last off of the plane, and he is a true hero. He managed everything responsively and calm. Finally, everyone reacts to crisis differently. Some people act scared and hide like price Prospero and his guests in the blue room. Others ignore it like some sailors. And very few act brave and calm like Captain Sullenberger did when he landed a plane on the Hudson River. Everyone can react differently in ... • 61. Gender Identity And Its Effect On The Way People Society has a tremendous effect on the way people see themselves as well as the way they see others. When it comes to sex and gender, these two words are used interchangeably, even though they are different. Sex is what a person is biologically born with, whereas Gender is how a person is seen in society, their roles, and their accepted behavior. Gender identity is a person's inner sense of being male or female and a display of that. Jayme Poisson writes an article, "Parents Keep Child's Gender Secret," on two parents that decided to raise their newborn child genderless. The couple also allows their other children to display whichever gender they choose, not conforming with "how they're expected to look and act based on their sex," (Poisson 366). Kwame Anthony Appiah describes the idea of being able to respect the traditions of others without having to agree with or understand them in "Making Conversation". Women and men are, not surprisingly, treated very differently in society. In "Human Dignity" Francis Fukuyama writes about equality and the essence that humans possess. Society creates a stigma for men who act feminine and women who act masculine, creating a negative impact on ones gender identity, specifically on the description of gender roles, and how certain products are marketed. Gender identity in society is seen as important and necessary. So much so, that raising a genderless child is seen as taboo. In Poisson's article, she introduces parents Kathy Witterick and ... Discussion Australian Indigenous epistemology is the communication and interpretation and experiencing of physical world, human world and scared world with the Indigenous perspectives of knowing, being and doing. Base on the literature review, the Australian Indigenous epistemology can be described as the following diagram. First of all, human world received the knowledge from physical world by experiencing, controlling and organizing their ways of knowing. Then, this knowledge is embodied, reciprocal and relatedness to apply in the communication and co–existing processes with other entities, to create ways of being. The ways of being support the emergence of scared world through sharing and learning processes of Indigenous community. In addition, ways of doing is synthesis and articulation of Indigenous ways of knowing and ways of being to develop laws, power, culture and essence to assist the scared world. Likewise, scared world also contributes the ways of doing by setting up the concept of do no harm approach and co–existence with other entitles to maintain and guard to become a sustainable physical world. To sum up, Australian indigenous epistemology is a unique and the steps are link each other as a packed one in its origin. A famous journalist, Dan Rater has said, "A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity." Many people feel lost after they graduated high school, they don't know what challenge is waiting for them; and they have to make the toughest decision in their lives: either go to college or go to work, those two choices will completely change people's lives. The Ways the British Government Tried to Hide the Effects of the Blitz from the British People The government wanted to hide the effects of the blitz for many reasons. As the effects were hidden normal life could continue and therefore so could the war effort and morale of the public. Many methods were used in doing this. Slogans such as "Britain can take it" were used to show the country as surviving in spite of the ongoing attacks as "bombs can only kill people, they cannot destroy the indomitable spirit of a nation." The government also tried to exaggerate victories. For example, on 15th September 1940, after a massive daylight air raid on London, the BBC announced that, according to official figures, 180 German planes had been shot down. In truth, the number was about sixty. Propaganda was also used to ridicule and counter that of Germany, in the ongoing struggle for control between the two countries. E.g. the Ministry of Information Censorship was used greatly by the government to hide the effects of the Blitz from the public. To disguise the real effects of the bombing on people newspapers only published positive stories and images and photographs of large casualties were not published. One of the interesting facts that the "The Facebook Effect" talks about is how Zuckerberg never created Facebook for profit. They start to realize that they are different from the objects and people around them physically. There are many ways that people can feel a sense of self identity or association within a group. People could identify themselves as something small, like the town they are from or the school they attend. Or they could identify as a bigger group of people like their religious beliefs and nationality. This paper will look at "Frankenstein as a Bildungsroman" and the way that people in Europe during the nineteenth century could gain knowledge and a view of self–awareness and how people gain knowledge today. One thing that is fascinating is that the nameless monster in the book is actually the Frankenstein that people tend to think of, with the big square green head, whereas, his creator's last name is actually Frankenstein. This is important because as the book progresses, the reader gets a sense that maybe the monster and his creator, are not so different after all. Although Victor (the creator) was born with a family and has friends, he distances himself from them when he finds his love for science. Ways people benefit from South are being a student who continuously is on their work, engaged to what needs to be done, and being a responsible young adult that wants to better themselves as a person, acknowledging the potential they have from the tools provided by the school. Students being self driven give them an opportunity to excel in their education. Going in re–taking quizzes, tests, doing work show the students willingness to succeed . While many U.S. schools struggle with diversity, south successfully is full of diversity and different cultures. Teachers play a big role in this topic of discussion because they should want to change themselves, but in a positive way . "Some students don't get the help they need." Says Tyanna. This is an issue because I feel teachers at South focus more on the kids who are not capable like others. My mom's side of the family arrived in the United States in the late 1800's. Both of my grandmother and grandfather's families came to the United States voluntarily. My grandmother's family came from England. Her grandfather, who came from an affluent family, first arrived in Ellis Island, New York, but later settled in the Maryland Eastern Shore. Similarly, my grandfather's family settled in the Maryland Eastern Shore after coming from Czech Republic. Though they came voluntarily, they feared the Russians taking over their country so decided to leave. On each side of the family, farming was the main type of work they engaged in. According the article titled "History of the Death Penalty" written by Reggion, the death penalty wasn't just for those who will kill others, but it was also for those who used "magic, made insulting songs, the cutting or grazing of crops planted by a farmer, the burning [of] a house or a stack of corn near a house, cheating by a patron of his client, perjury, making disturbances at night in the city" (Reggio 1). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The death penalty has both pros and cons. The pros about having the death penalty legal are that it is cheaper than having someone in jail for life, death is simply a punishment, the killer won't be able to kill anybody else, and people will be scared to kill others (deterrence). The cons about the death penalty are discrimination, it's morally wrong, innocent people are wrongly executed, it's an added cost to tax payers, the legal process itself takes long, and lastly some criminals suffer from mental illness. Analyzing both the pros and cons, I believe that the death penalty should become illegal in all states, not just some states. The reason being is because the government (no one in general) shouldn't decide when a life should end. In this paper, I will present claims that will prove why the death penalty should become illegal in all states, rather than becoming legal in the remaining 19 states. The death penalty contradicts itself. One major point of the death penalty is to punish those who have committed a crime (capital crime). But, more specifically the point of a punishment is for a person to learn from their mistakes, but it could also be a time when a person can think about what they did. • 105. The Changes in the Way People Learn Over time the way people learn, obtain and remember information has drastically changed and will most likely continue to change. I will explore several of the changes from print technology, to recording technology to computers and cellphones. Many years ago very few people knew how to read, it was not until printing technology was improved that everyone began to learn to read. Before printing began all books were printed by hand by specially skilled people and it took several months to finish just one book causing them to be very rare and expensive so that only the wealthiest people could afford them (Bernstein 109). After Gutenberg invented his printing press which had replaceable movable letters used like stamps causing more books to be printed at a time (Bellis). The number of books available greatly rose causing the price of the books to decrease drastically so that even the poorest people could afford them. With this change many people were able to learn how to read. With this new found knowledge the way we learned changed, before people had to remember everything and after printing began to be cheaper people did not have to remember like before they could just read and write to take notes. Lecture Capture is used to record both video and audio of a class so that the students who have a legitimate reason for missing class such as a sickness or a school game they need to be present at can watch and listen at a later time (DeSantis 6). The most common way to do this in modern culture is through a market. Markets, as Carruthers and Babb describe it in chapter 1, are the particular supply and demand of any given good or service that are exchanged for a value of money with certain given information. As Wright and Best describe in chapter 3, this way of organizing an economy allows for an effective way to step up an economy. As was noted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether through their spending policies, taxing policies or lack there of, or days that are considered holidays the state has great influence. These can sometimes can be seen as a harmful set of actions, but as Bandelj and Sowers point out in chapter one these acts by the state have a real importance to how the economy works. The state as noted above takes an important role in managing things that are not natural. Without the government to regulate these things we not be able to sustain these now vital and constructive institutions. This state interference in the market, good or bad, has a profound effect on parts that ripple into the whole of the market. This relationship in the market is on grand scale, but the social institutional relationship does not always have to be. The relationships that we have with particular people also greatly affect how we interact with the market. Particularly in regards to cultural and societal expectations. When someone goes to college they are expected to get a MacBook for school from their family as a parting gift. When someone gets a big promotion they buy a new car or sometimes even a new house to show as a visible announcement that they have improved their life. Consequently during the same question, around thirty three percent of participants conformed to the confederate's response one time or more (Cherry, 2013). The thing that makes these results different from informational conformity is that the correct answer was obvious. Solomon's project is an excellent case in point of normative influence. Normative influence is "Yielding to group pressure because a person wants to fit in with the group" (McLeod, 2007). Solomon Asch's experiment also gave insight of why people conform. Solomon Asch also observed how people displayed extreme discomfort when confronted with the decision to disagree with the group (Myers & DeWall, 2014). You say all the things you don't mean, and none of the things you do. People talk about you, they make fun of you. You talk, you make fun of. You never feel like you're good enough. You feel like nobody understands you and you just want all the pain to go away. You feel like there's nothing to live for– all your dreams have been crushed. You can try to be perfect– but you won't ever be. I'm not trying to put you down, it's just the truth. And as cliche, as it sounds, it's true. Nobody's perfect. You can try anything you want to make life less hard. Pills. Knives. Talking about people. But it won't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 137. Culture Is A Way Of Life Shared By People Culture is a way of life shared by people in a society. Culture is exceptional, although it may have other things in common with other cultures. According to American Culture, "Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things," said Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College in London. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. According to People & Culture, within its vast area, Nigeria has over 250 different ethnic groups, all with their own languages and heritage. Cultures are made and followed according to the society or family one comes from or was born in. According to "USA – Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette, Americans are extremely informal, friendly, and call most people by their first name. Most people who come to the United States may already know a few things about the people through TV. Although this is of course a skewed reality some of the stereotypes are true, especially American friendliness and informality. People tend to not wait to be introduced, will begin to speak with strangers as they stand in a queue, sit next to each other at an event, etc. Americans are very casual in greeting. A handshake, a smile, and a 'hello ' are all that is needed, which I really agree with but in Nigeria, where I came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over the past five years, it has lifted all its gross margins by manufacturing solely in low–cost markets. In March 2002 it closed its factory in Lares, Puerto Rico, its last company–owned plant, and outsources all its products. Burberry has many Asian licensing arrangements. In 2000 it decided to renew Sanyo's Japanese licence for 20 ten years. This means that almost half of Burberry's sales at retail value will continue to be produced under licence in Asia. At the same time however, Japanese consumers prefer the group's European– made products. Sanyo is now creating to this demand for a snob alternative to the Burberry products made in its factories across Asia by opening a flagship store in Tokyo's Ginza, where it sells Burberry products imported from Europe. In interviews with the FT, many executives says the top luxury brands will continue to be seen, particularly in Asia, as European. Domenico De Sole of Gucci says " The Asian Consumer really dos believe – whether it's true or not – that luxury comes from Europe and must be made there to be the best.' Serge Weinberg, Chief Executive of Pinault Printemps Redoute, which controls Gucci, says it will not move Gucci's production of shore. Yet some in the industry recognize that change may be round the corner even for the superluxury brands.

  • 146. Thinking Is A Way That People Make Decisions Thinking Thinking is a way that people make decisions. They think in black and white and don't like the gray areas. Thinkers tend to be task–oriented, brief, and businesslike (Thinking vs. feeling, n.d.). People who prefer thinking over feeling prefer to form their opinions after thoroughly analyzing problems. They try to understand assumptions and figure out what could be the consequences of actions before they get to them. Their main concern is how decisions will affect the bottom line. Thinkers like debates because they believe it brings issues to the table and the group can talk them out and come to conclusions. They expect other people's arguments to build to a conclusion and not just be a ramble. They try to treat everybody equally, but also use their authority when determining how new things will be implemented (Hammer, 2015). They can come off as cold because they don't consider other people's emotions when making decisions (Collins, n.d.). By having this kind of outlook, it can cause many problems. Sometimes thinkers are too focused on supporting their own position and don't listen to their colleagues. Thinkers can sometimes are too aggressive in stating their opinions or asking questions that come off as attacking others. They can also be thought of as failing to appreciate the hard work and effort that other people have put into projects. To help thinkers get along and be productive in the workplace, thinkers can look for a common ground so that both sides of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 150. Ways People Are Alike Analysis People go through life thinking that they understand every person, every situation, and every lifestyle. The fact of the matter is, nobody understands what anyone is going through unless they have experienced it themselves. As children we are taught that everyone is equal and that we should treat each other as such. I am very fortunate to have grown up with the most amazing and supportive parents who had always found a way to make sure I was happy and healthy. Even though not everyone had the same experiences I did, as a child I thought that everyone had both parents and always got the new toy or had new clothes for school because I thought that everyone being equal meant that everyone was as well taken care of as I was. Now obviously as I've grown up I have realized how amazingly lucky I am to be so blessed, and that not everyone is as lucky. I feel like trying to understand how other people feel during certain situations would be very hard because I have never had anything really that bad happen in my life. ... I also feel like trying to pretend like I would know how they felt or to try and tell someone else that they weren't having the correct reaction to something would be rude and disrespectful because I would never fully understand how a situation had affected them. People are always trying to feel empathy for others, which makes sense, but trying to say that you understand what someone has gone through is not fair for the affected person. Many people judge others based on their looks, or how much money they have, or how they deal with certain situations, and I believe that it is not fair for anyone to judge someone else, ever, but especially on how they handled something because you have no idea how it really affected ... • 154. Has The Internet Changed The Way People Read? Reading In The Digital Age: Has The Internet Changed The Way People Read? The Internet is, I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest resources the world has produced. One can get volumes and volumes of information in an instant. The information is available to anyone no matter where he or she is on the globe. Now one can work from home, in the car while on holiday, basically anywhere with an Internet connection. One can communicate with friends and interact with them no matter where they are. Social media, programs like Skype and other Internet based products enable people to communicate better from a distance. We are all getting to a certain point where we are online for so long that it has started affecting how we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were convinced and adamant in their belief that the changes were because of the Internet. They had several reasons why they blamed the Internet for the changes and at the end of the interview; I let them enumerate the reasons. My first interviewee told me that he now found it harder to remember things. He kept forgetting simple things like dates, locations and products names. He found it harder to remember facts after just a short time. I tested it out during the interview and I witnessed him having to confirm facts from the Internet. I asked inquired why he was so sure that it was the Internet's fault that he was having memory problems and he gave me several. The first one was that he never used to have that problem before. He says that in school he was pretty good at remembering things and he regularly won memory games. He said that he started experiencing the problems when he got into college and started relying on the net for his work and pleasure. He confessed that he did not go anywhere without his smartphone, tablet or laptop. He is always on his phone and most of the time he is surfing. He could not find another reason for his memory problems other than the Internet. After the interviews I went ahead and did some research for myself and see if it was possible that the Internet was to blame. Scientists have indeed found a connection between how we remember things and the Internet. They conducted research that indicated that people who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
