Social networking
The popular social networking sites Facebook and Twitter enable people to interact with friends, family and celebrities as well as find out the
latest news and information regarding their specific search general. These social networking sites are very useful for promotion as they engage
an audience from all over the world. I will create a Twitter account for my magazine to enhance the readers interactivity with my magazine and
provide them with all the latest information following my magazine. I will also publish daily competitions to get the audience involved and make
them feel as though they belong. This will appeal to my target audience as they will interested in social media and will therefore use these
websites in their free time. Furthermore, the social networking site will help increase the promotion of my magazine as the site includes
trending topics. This involves people to get involved as they need to trend the hastag to help get it trending, this would be useful for my
magazine as it would help me gain worldwide publicity. Alike Twitter, I will also create a Facebook page which involves the audience ‘liking’ my
page rather than clicking the ‘follow’ button. This will appeal to my target audience as they will interested in social media and will therefore use
these websites in their free time.
Sound
As my magazine revolves around the genre of pop/rock the free video-sharing website YouTube will play key role in the promotion of my
magazine. YouTube is considered to the most popular website with an average of over 1 billion viewers per month. The website enables you to
share music and music videos as well as keep up to date with your favourite artists new single. The website is used by a wide audience from
professional music labels for advertising their artists work and normal people who share vlogs and videos of their own. I will include my own
YouTube account where I will upload videos of interviews, behind the scenes footage and general music that the artists of my magazine have
produced. I will then share the selected videos on the Twitter and Facebook accounts I will create to keep the audience involved and make
them feel of part of something.
Images
The picture websites Instagram and Tumblr are conveyed to be very popular social networking sites. The following websites enable users to
follow other people, share photos together and give users the opportunity to like and reblog each others photos. I plan to set up accounts for
both of theses social networking websites as they allow me to publish photos from behind the scenes that I won’t necessary include in my
magazine. This enables the reader to feel personally connected with my magazine as they are able to connect with my magazine from an
outside space. I will also be able to follow readers back making them feel apart of my magazine themselves. Overall, I believe both websites –
Instagram and Tumblr are a great way to increase the readership of my magazine creating a popular and successful magazine.
