3. Research
The strengths of my research were that I got a lot of helpful feedback to help me
target my audience , it also gave me ore ideas the more and more feedback I got,
at first I was not sure what theme to choose but my feedback and photo research
helped. I think the photo research was the most affective because the three
different themes a researched were winter, summer and autumn. Each colour
from the photos had connotations of different feelings, such as the colours from
autumn had the connotations of a warming feeling. I researched photos from
each theme and decided which theme to use by seeing which theme gave me a
warmer feeling, each colour from the photos had connotations of different
feelings, such as the colours from autumn had the connotations of a warming
feeling. After I did this I sent out the survey to see what my audience liked. I also
learnt some new styles such as rack focus from my feedback.
There were some weaknesses in my research, such as some of my feedback was
not as helpful as it could have been, also it was difficult to decide between winter
and autumn because both photo research showed beautiful photos and styles.
4. Planning
The strengths of my planning were: the more ideas I had the better quality it
made my research because I could ask questions about my ideas to see what my
audience prefer. Planning what colours to use also helped because it gave me a
good idea of what colours to use in my portfolio and what colours to use in my
photos. The research of black and white helped with my planning because it
allowed me to research other styles which allowed me to vary my photos, also
researching photos helped with my colour schemes because it gave me an idea of
which colours go with which themes. Researching different styles helped my
planning because it narrowed down which styles would suit my theme and which
styles I could get more use out of, researching different styles also got me
feedback from my audience.
The weaknesses of my planning where that some of my feedback made it difficult
to make a decision from my planning because some of the comments weren’t as
helpful as they could have been. Other weaknesses with planning is that my ideas
changed the more I got into making my product. I could have been clearer on my
questions which would have helped me get better feedback, this would have
made my work better quality.
5. Time Management
The strengths of time management where that it made my work more
organised and clear however, I definitely should have managed my time a lot
better as towards the end of the deadline I was rushing and became very
aware of the fact I am far behind. Next time I should make myself personal
targets to make sure I do not fall behind and make sure I meet my deadline.
time management was helpful so I was not behind on my coursework.
6. Technical Qualities
My project was inspired by Mackenzie Thorpe. His work is very different with
certain things being in colour or a brighter colour than the rest of the painting. I
decided to do a mixture of things such as portraits of people and landscape
photos of nature. My product is very similar to other portfolios I have
researched the one difference is the certain objects in colour an the rest black
and white.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I think my work does look good and I like my layout out a lot more now hat I
changed the background colours. However, I think my portfolio would've
been better if the photos were of different places not just the same
location. The strengths of my portfolio are that the photos look good and
eye catching which was my aim. The weaknesses of my portfolio are that my
photos aren't as extravagant as what I hoped I think my portfolio would
have been better if I had a wider range or locations and photos.
8. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience by including different effects in my photos. I have
also I used the two top types of photos that interest my age group to interest my
audience. I think the certain objects in colour will appeal to my audience a lot more
because it makes the photos quirky and more interesting.
