Preliminary Task Reflection
Throughout the process of our preliminary task product we were
able to increase our knowledge and understanding of film production
as we were able to learn from our faults and gain an efficient
experience.
One aspect that we intend to work on is our general lack of
organisation and planning. For instance, some of our actors would
mistake or forget their lines. This ensures us to understand for our
main task to allow the actors a suitable amount of time to memorise
and learn their lines. Furthermore, the setting of our preliminary was
supposed to be at a home so we could use a living room, however
we used a classroom which is not effective and clear to the viewer.
From this, we will ensure that for our main task we intend on being
more effective with the plan and to use the correct location.
Another feature that as a group we aim to build upon are the quality
of our shots. For instance, using two or more of the same shot so
when it comes to editing we have a choice on which one is more
successful and worthy. Another way is by using different and
complex camera angles and shots as it will improve the quality of our
work.
The third element that we anticipate to construct on is our lack of
microphones. When looking back at the preliminary we understand
that it can be confusing to the viewer the characters dialogue. So
when we are planning and filming for our main task we will ensure to
use a boom microphone to further develop our quality of film
production and to ensure that it is clear what each character is
saying.
Another factor that we intend to build upon is our effective use of
time. We understand as a group that due to our lack of preparation
and planning then it resulted in us taking a longer time than we had
initially intended. For instance, as we filmed our preliminary in a
school we took valuable time to find a room that looked appropriate
for our film and wasn’t close to distractions. However, we now
understand that when filming for our main task will we ensure to
create a detailed plan in order to increase our efficiency through the
use of time.
However, despite the negative points we also came across some
positive are over the course of the production of our preliminary
task. Firstly, it benefitted us as we were able to gain an experience as
we actually practised and experience the process of filming to
further enhance our knowledge and understanding of film
production.
Another positive is our understanding of each individual’s specific
role and specialism within the production. For instance, one of us
had developed understanding of sound and how to use it so they
would be in charge and in control of sound within our main task.
Also, one of us is particular good with camera work and a result of
this they will be in charge of camera for the main task. Furthermore,
one of us is especially talented in editing, therefor for our main task
we will let the be the main individual to edit the main task.
To conclude, we have have all gained numerous valuable experience,
knowledge and understanding from the production of our
preliminary task. As a group we have communicated with one
another that we must ensure to tackle during our main task is the
use of time, microphones, organisation and the use of different
camera angles and shots. As a result of this we will go into our
production of our main task to continue our positive traits and
learning and improving on our negative traits
