2. The things I have learned from the
start of this course to now have helped
me create what I believe is a successful
product. My research tells me that my
product appeals to the target audience,
and have been told so by people
included in my target audience.
1. Research and planning - how have
your skills developed and what
benefit has this had on your work?
Did you produce work more in line
with professional practice as you have
a more detailed understanding of the
forms and conventions of real media
products? Did you manage your time
better? Was your work well planned
etc.?
My skills have developed not only through the use of
technology, but also my understanding of key
points…
RESEARCH:
3. Through research I have learned what it takes to make a product that is apealing and successful to
certain people.

I gained more information about themes and conventions for the genre I chose.
And my research led me to chose the Horror genre, but also the sub genre of Gothic horror, which
I found was one of the most popular genres within horror, but also within the film industry.
4.
5. What I believe was done well:
I believe that my knowledge was put to good use during this process.
I believe that I planned out the filming, the editing and the research well, even when my plans did
not go the way I anticipated I
Was able to adjust my pans so that I was never going to miss a deadline.
What I believe I could have done better during my production:
I believed that if I didn't’t panic and sometimes rush things from the fear that
I would miss the deadline.
6. 2. Construction - include images of your prelim
and main task and compare them. How did your
skills develop using software and hardware and
how has this improvement evident in your work?
Think about; Photography composition Page
Layout and design (alingment, curing and leading,
text to image ratio) Use of Fonts Use of models
and selecting more appropriate mise-en-scene
Content of the magazine
.
In these photos they are similar to each
other in the use of match on action,
because it makes the shots flow and fit
together better, and makes it easier for
the audience to follow. This is a skill I
learned during this course. This skill
was later improved to include point of
view shots of my protagonist.
7. My development of skills using Hardware and software, improved during this Course, for
example
I was able to use different settings on the camera to provide different shot types such as
close ups, and high angle shots, and was able to use different techniques on Final Cut
Express to add effects to may work to make it look more professional. The techniques used
for the Prelim video where very basic and I believe that in my final product they are more
varied and developed. The leading and position of text and props in my position are all
there for a reason and are all linked to mise en scene, something that is not evident in the
prelim.
8. If you did the video task then use still shots from your work and discuss;
Shot Composition
The different types of shots are veried from high angle, low angle, tracking, point of view, and close up.
Holding a steady shot
My camera stills where more professional during the final product than the prelim because I had more
practice with a camera and a tripod.
Lighting
My lighting was dull to link with the nature of the film, and to help create the atmosphere of death and
despair.
Locations
The location was in my local church yard, this was to symbolize religion, and death through the shots of
the graves.
Actors
My actor was young and dressed In dark colors to help appeal to the target audience.
Intertitles
My titles where in a font which would not take away from the product itself, and didn’t distract the
audience, so they where placed in corners and different places so they where not in the direct line of sight.
Sound
My sound track was designed to be different to other conventional horror film soundtracks. But still kept
the same haunting feeling that it gives the audience.
9. These are all the main differences that my film has that my prelim does not.
