1. Looking back at your preliminary task (the
continuity editing task), what do you feel you
have learnt in the progression from it to full
product?
EVALUATION ACTIVITY 7
2. From the preliminary task to the final product I have
learned a lot and developed a lot of abilities in the
production sector. My abilities with using the camera
has improved vastly, when we were producing the
preliminary task my camera was not good because I
had no experience at all, because I have never
studied media in the past. After I produced the
preliminary task I knew that it could have been better
after I learned more about camera shots and editing
techniques. Also I feel that my directing skills have
improved very quickly which made it easier to
produce our main task.
3. I feel that when I was directing the preliminary task
everything always was a mess, and now I that I learned
more skills in directing and had experience in it, and I
learned from my mistakes which made me for confident
and made me a better director, which I then directed the
main task in a much better manner. When recording
scenes which I had partial knowledge of camera shots
which then we used simple shots, and after I learned a lot
of camera shots such as 180 degree shot, match on
action, shot/reverse shot and many more which then
assisted me in making the main task, which made the
main task look a lot better.
4. In addition, when we were editing the preliminary
task, I struggled to edit the film because I was new to
it, and I never have used the particular software
before, then I just played around with it which I
learned more things and more features of the
software. So my ability of editing improved a lot
which helped me a lot when editing the main
task, I've learned a lot of different editing tools and
techniques from transitions to special effects.
5. We particularly used the special effects when we had
gunfire in our film which took a long time to produce
because there was a lot of details to it that would have to
be perfect to make it look real as possible, we learned
how to do the special effect through researching, we
found videos which showed us tutorials which we
watched and gained knowledge from. Other effects we
used is a blur and dizziness effects to suggest that the
subject is not well or in a critical condition, and the shot
was a `point of view` shot which then the audience will
know that the subject is injured or maybe just waking up
from sleep, but in our video the person is waking up
because he was unconscious. So overall my editing skills
have improved from the preliminary task and the full
product.
6. Additionally I have improved on my team work abilities,
when we was recording our preliminary task we
sometimes didn't communicate well, and sometimes we
used to argue in our group, of what parts to edit or
sometimes what camera shots to use. Now from that
experience I improved and developed my teamwork skills
so that everything goes well in the main task, which we
worked well as a group sometimes we organize
everything out, and we split tasks to each other so that
we can get things done quickly. Also when it comes to
planning everything should be organized and different
tasks should be given to the different people in the group.
7. In our main task we have used many different camera
shots which was acknowledged by a lot of people, which
we have attained more knowledge of camera shots from
the preliminary task to the main task. We used various
shot sizes and shots like the high angle and low angle
shots, over the shoulder shot the 180 degree shot, also
we have used plenty of match on action shots in our main
task, but in the preliminary task we had only a little bit of
match on action shots which shows that our main task it
much better then the preliminary task because match on
action shots is a hard shot to do, because it takes time
and effort to have perfect match on action this shows we
have improved and developed vastly from the preliminary
task to the main task.
