The preschool will focus on social skills like taking turns speaking and listening using puppets and small groups from 1-12 June. They will also do art projects inspired by Impressionist artists, allowing children to experiment with color and media. At home, parents should point out letters to their children, especially the initial letter of their name, and play "I Spy" to help with phonics and listening skills. Notices remind parents to send sunhats and apply sunscreen, as the preschool hopes to spend more time outside, and the summer production will be on July 17 at 9:15 am.
1. Preschool Year 2
Dear Parents,
1 – 12 June
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
We will be using puppets and small groups to talk to the children about
listening to each other and taking turns speaking and listening. This is a
vital skill for children to learn as they get ready to move to primary school.
We will be creating some ‘Impressionist’ pictures based on artists such as
Van Gough and Monnet. This gives the children lots of opportunities to
experiment with colour and different media.
Activities to do at home
We have developed a phonics area in preschool to help encourage the
children to recognise some letters and sounds. At home point out letters
to your children (especially important letters like the initial letter of their
name) and play “I Spy” as a family so that they get used to listening to
initial sounds of words.
Notices
Please bring in named sunhats for your children and remember to put
suncream on them before you bring them to Preschool. We are hoping for
a long sunny spell to enjoy the outside area!
Don’t forget that the summer production will be on Friday July 17 at 9.15
am. All the family are welcome. We will be starting practising for the play
this week. Please let us know if you are away on this date.
