The preschool will focus on treasure maps based on the children's interest, including a treasure hunt in the sand pit and roleplay. They will also continue exploring underwater creatures from the book "Shark in the Park" through art projects. At home, parents are encouraged to go on a sound walk with their child to identify objects starting with the letters n, c, k, e, and h to support phonics learning. School photographs will be rescheduled to October 9th due to a previous mix-up, and preschool will be closed on October 23rd for staff development.

1. Preschool Year 2
Dear Parents,
21 September -2 October
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
A lot of the children have chosen to make treasure maps this week so we
have decided to extend their interest by having treasure in the sand pit,
role-play going on a treasure hunt and by having lots of different resources
in the writing area to encourage their mark making and writing.
We will continue to develop the current book Shark in the Park by looking
at underwater creatures and creating pictures with different colours and
textures. We will also be making Timothy Pope’s telescope. Thank you to
all those who brought in kitchen rolls to make the telescopes.
Activities to do at home
This week in our phonic sessions we will be listening to the sounds n, c,
k,e,h. To support their understanding of listening to different sounds go
on a sound walk around your home or outside looking for objects (or
people’s names) that begin with these sounds. Encouraging your child to
hear and say initial sounds is a vital stage in them learning to read and
write.
Notices
The photographer apologises for any inconvenience caused by the mix up
with dates. Another date of Friday 9 October has been set for morning
photographs to take place.
Please remember there will be a development day on Friday 23 October so
the children will not be attending Preschool that day.
Have you visited the pupil premium page www.wirral.gov.uk/fis to check if
you can apply for funding which benefits all the children in Preschool?
