A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform
2 may at home (002)
1. Preschool Year 2
Dear Parents, 2-12 May
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
Over the next few weeks we will be listening to, and acting, out the
musical story of Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev. This week the children
will use a variety of instruments to depict the different characters from the
story.
In maths we will be comparing the amount in different groups and seeing
which has the most or the least and which has the same number. We will
also be introducing the children to the concept of estimation as they try to
have a ‘good guess’ of the number of objects in a group.
Activities to do at home
Listen to Peter and the Wolf (there are many versions to listen to and
watch on You Tube) and talk to your child about the characters and what
they may be feeling.
Use the mathematical language of more, most, less fewest, same, etc to
your child as you talk about groups of everyday objects.
The children are very excited about the tadpoles we have in Preschool and
are watching them through magnifying glasses, describing how they look
and move. Encourage your child to draw or paint a picture of tadpoles or
frogs so that we can display them on our Spring nature board.
Notice
Please check Tapestry every week so that you will be able to see some
observations and photos of your child’s achievements. It would also be
great if you could add some photos and comments yourself so that we can
see what your child enjoys doing at home. If you are having trouble
logging onto Tapestry please come and talk to us about it.
