15 jan at home
1. Preschool Year 2
15- 26 January
Dear Parents,
During the next few weeks we will be talking about nocturnal animals and the
night time. This will not only include the animals that come out at night time
but the stars and the moon and other lights we use to see with in the dark.
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
We will be naming, drawing and making different nocturnal animals and
be looking at what they eat and where they live.
In maths groups the children will be given lots of opportunities to make
marks and record amounts. We will do this with lots of fun resources eg
giant dice, baskets and balls. We will then encourage them to interpret
their own marks and tell us what number they represent.
We will be having lots of rhyming stories and games as we encourage the
children to hear and say rhyming words.
Activities to do at home
Look up various nocturnal animals and discover with your child why they
come out at night rather than the day time.
Draw or paint a picture of a nocturnal animal or a night sky and bring it
into Preschool so we can display it on our board.
The RSPB Great Garden Bird Watch is on 27-29 January and is a great way
to get your children interested in wildlife and nature. We will be joining
this as a Preschool but it would be great for your child to take part in this
at home too. Simply go to the RSPB website and sign up to take part.
