The preschoolers will be continuing their study of the musical story Peter and the Wolf by playing percussion instruments and acting it out. They will also be observing tadpoles in a tank grow and learning about metamorphosis, making a booklet to explain the process. In math, the children are developing estimation skills and understanding of numbers and amounts. At home, parents can encourage planting seeds, writing letters to characters in Peter and the Wolf to practice early writing, and playing estimation games with objects. The preschool will be open on election day and parents should name all coats and jumpers.

Activities we will be doing in Preschool
 We will continue looking at the musical story of Peter and the Wolf by
playing different percussion instruments to the story and by acting it out
on the stage in Church. The children will be able to choose the parts they
want to be and the instruments they want to play.
 We have got a tank full of tadpoles at the moment and the children are
enjoying watching them grow and learning all about the changes that take
place. We will be introducing them to the word ‘metamorphosis’ and they
will be making a booklet to explain this process.
 In maths we have introduced the concept of estimation and it is great to
see how the children are developing this skill and their understanding of
numbers and amounts.
Activities to do at home
 Plant some seeds with your children (inside or outside) and talk to them
about what they need to grow.
 In Preschool we will be writing letters to Peter and to the Wolf. Encourage
your child to do this at home as it is a good way to help them develop their
early mark making skills.
 Ask your child to estimate numbers of objects and then count them
together to see how near they were.

 We will be open as normal for election day on Thursday 5 May.
 Please make sure you name all coats and jumpers as it is very easy for
them to get mixed up when they are not named.
