Year 1 Autumn term 2014 weeks 3 4 17th-28th nov
1. Autumn Term weeks 3-4, 17th-28th Nov.
Dear Parents,
As part of our health promotion we shall be introducing a different ‘fruit of the week’ each week. The children will be encouraged to taste these along with their usual snack. This week we shall be having cucumber, we will also watch Tzatziki (which contains cucumber) being made and taste this too.
Activities we will be doing in pre-school:
Learning our rhyme of the week which is ‘There’s a wide eyed owl’
Developing our fine motor control skills by practising pouring with jugs in the role-play, using a variety of tools to make marks with e.g chunky pens, different objects in the paint.
Using the language of size as we talk about things being tallest, shortest, biggest and smallest.
Activities to do at home with your child:
Talk about colours with your child. Can they make a red and/or blue picture and bring it in for us to see?
Sing our rhyme of the week.
As you are out and about, encourage your child to listen out for different sounds and talk about what they are e.g a police siren, birds singing.
Notices:
Remember interviews with your key person this week.
On 26th and 27th November at 11.15am and/or 3.15pm (depending on when your child attends) we will be having a ‘Stay and Play’ for one parent/carer to attend. We ask you to sign up for this so that we can be aware of numbers attending due to space restrictions.
Tzatziki tasting in the Rainbow café on Friday 28th. Come and sample our healthy snack and pick up a recipe card!
