Audience research
Creating research Paige and Alisha in my group created a Facebook page for our audience research as we know that the age range we would be targeting is very popular with the social networking site and decided it would be a good way to get peoples responses. As they did the Facebook page I then created a questionnaire and then turned the results of the closed questions into pie charts using Microsoft Excel which is a programme that I am familiar with and have used before. One of the reasons why we did different audience research was so that we had other sources and more feedback that could help us with our film opening.
Questionnaire Here is a print screen of my questionnaire that I made on Microsoft Word.
Audience research results My group created a questionnaire and then asked a mixture of twenty boys and girls aged fourteen to eighteen about their favourite genre’s to help with our groups film opening to see what genres our targeted audience likes to watch. What is your favourite genre of film? Would you see a film not in your preferred genre?
Open question Our group decided we should ask an open question “What do you expect in a horror film?” as we are making a horror film and thought it would be good to see what people want to see and like from horror films. Some of the responses were “ As I regularly watch horror films I always want to be frightened and expect something to happen in the beginning that will keep me watching more.” “ I expect a horror film to build up tension in the opening of a horror/thriller film so that there is always a sense that something is going to happen. “ In horror films we should be introduced to a character and feel like we know them in the beginning so that when they get killed we feel sorry for them.”
