The Ngarrindjeri Nation across the South East Section of...
The Ngarrindjeri nation arrays across the South East section of South Australia; as seen in Figure 1.
Figure 1: Map of the Ngarrindjeri Nation (Horton, 1996)
The Ngarrindjeri is an Aboriginal nation is made up of 18 tribes, extending 30km along the river
Murray (slsa SA gov, 2012). Having been ushered to leave their land, the Ngarrindjeri people were
greatly affected by white settlement. Culture within the Ngarrindjeri nation is central to water
specifically being the Coorong and River Murray (CSIRO, 2010). Having great relations between
the water and their cultural beliefs, shows the general agreement which white people have come to
learn; "living with the land" (ACME, 2008)
2.2 Background of the Gorkha District
Located 150km west of the capital of Nepal (Kathmandu), the Gorkha district of Nepal is home to
271,000 (2011) and covers an approximate area of 3,610 square kilometers (ncthakur, 2011). Figure
2 clearly shows the Gorkha district of Nepal. Figure 2: Map of Gorkha district in Nepal (Al, 2009)
Rough, hilly terrain fills the area in which Gorkha is situated, making transport and construction just
a little more difficult compared with the flat plains which remain in other areas of Nepal (Raaz,
2014). There are a few known geographical landmarks including; Gorkha Bazaar, Gorkha Durbar
and Gorakhnath Caves. (Ibriz Interactive, 2012) states that the Gorkha Durbar with a palace and
fort, is the centerpiece of the region and is a cultural place.

Commercialization Of Everest Essay
When you look at the commercialization of Mount Everest, a sad story starts to unfold. People say
Everest has gone from being the definitive contest for the most capable mountaineers to a bucket list
check off for quest chasers. Problems are coming forward that are threatening expeditions and
livelihoods that surround Everest. The areas that tourists use to access Everest, and the hillside itself
is getting inundated with trash, human waste, and pollution. The backbone of the expedition
operations known as the Sherpa people are being exploited for their labor and disregarded. Little to
no regulation or policy that protects Everest and its fragile infrastructure is being created, put in
place, or enforced. Overall, things are getting out of control surrounding Everest. If Nepal's
government or people don't stand up and take ownership of their mountains, the beautiful section of
the Himalayas that holds the world's highest ground will either be closed off by country
governments, or as said before, it will really become the world's highest garbage dump.
In all of history, archives of the excursions to Mount Everest are still young. At a hefty 29,029 feet
above sea level, the same elevation commercial jet liners are flying at, it's easy to see why this
mountain summit is extremely difficult to reach. It wasn't until the 19th century it would be
identified as the highest point on the Earth's surface. In 1852 is was finally declared the roof of the
world. The first documented

The Immorality Of Nepalese Business Being Publicized One...
Introduction
When it comes to moral behavior, Nepalese society held high demands. It is something our
collective society is made up of. But in the developing country like ours where business is yet to be
professionalized, the morality that has bounded our society for years is very weak within business
and its impacts can be seen in our society and nation.
Few years ago news explaining immorality transfused in Nepalese business being publicized one
after another.
Case Study: Gudpak Turned Sour
Kathmandu: September 6, 2014
Forum for Customer Right Protection on Tuesday, September 4 2014 filed case against four
businessmen dealing in Sweets at the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanuman Dhoka. The cases were
filed against famous sweet shop owners of "Corner Taaja Gudpak Bhandar", "Shri Krishna Gudpak
Bhandar", "Anmol Sweets", and "Kanhaiya Ghee Brand". These outlets were using animal fat in the
name of pure ghee and rotten, expired sweets and raw materials for preparing Gudpak and Pustakari
(type of Nepali sweet). The production site was found very unhygienic and unsanitary. On the other
hand, Kanhaiya Ghee Brand was found producing and selling inedible ghee (type of butter) with
zero RM value.
A kg of gudpak and pustakari, bought after struggling with the commotion and the crowd at the
shop, would bring smiles back home in our families, the kids and old. Gudpak was not just a sweet
made from the milk and its derivative but a culture among the Nepalese and it still continues to be.

The Earthquake Of India, China, Bangladesh, And Bhutan
On April 25, 2015 the country of Nepal and the surrounding countries of India, China, Bangladesh,
and Bhutan experienced an earthquake with the magnitude of 7.8 (Kumar). The earthquake triggered
an avalanche on Mount Everest killing nineteen people. Another avalanche was triggered in
Langtang Valley a reported two hundred and fifty people are missing. Aftershocks continued well
there after one reaching as high as 6.7. The death toll has not reached well over 7,250 (Kumar). The
number of injured is 14,122. The UN estimates well over three million people need food and other
assistance. Thousands of people have fled the areas especially around Kathmandu fearing
aftershocks or trying to get to family member 's homes in remote areas. At one point Nepal was one
of the least urbanized countries in the world (NORMAN). They are now accelerating in the world of
urbanization. Kathmandu and a few other neighboring cities many of buildings are somewhat
structurally sound, the buildings are usually pagoda style and shikhara style (NORMAN). Many of
the new buildings are well maintained, the older residential buildings and smaller temples have
fallen into despair (NORMAN). Rural architecture is very plain, they are one or two stories. The
houses are made of mud brick and a thatched roof. Village houses are located near river valleys or

A Cold War
A cold war has broken recently between the government and the Supreme Court in Nepal. One or
the other side may win this war, but the constitution, the due process of law and the Nepali people
will be the ultimate losers in it. It is important to put the case in perspective to cut out the
misinformation about it. The government promoted Deputy Inspector General Jaya Bahadur Chand
as inspector general of police. His competitor Nawaraj Silwal went to the Supreme Court against the
decision. The court quashed the decision, and the government appointed another DIG Prakash Aryal
to the post. Silwal knocked the court 's door with the second petition, which the court for

Similarly, the public is divided. In view of the widespread criticism, the government decided to put
the motion on hold, and the Parliament decided to postpone its meetings until after the local
elections due on 14 May 2017. But the debate continues unabated. Based purely on the
constitutional provisions, I agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously and
for going after Karki to intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from
holding it to account through judicial reviews of its decisions and follow–ups. Here are the
provisions of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of
parliament can move the motion of impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme
Court if they fail to fulfill his their duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law,
incompetence or misconduct or failure and honestly or serious violation of the code of conduct.
Section (6): Once the motion is moved, the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court would not
be able to discharge their duties. Article 103 (7) and (8): The legislature has the authority to punish
anyone who undermines its privileges. Article 105: The legislature cannot discuss anything sub

Art of India the Buddhist
Life of Buddhism: The Buddhism is one of the major religion in the world. Buddhism started in
India and so many of its early symbols are related to ancient India and Hinduism as well though
their original meaning were often changed. Buddhism has followers all over the world most of them
from China, India, Sri Lanka, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, and Thailand. The Buddhism religion is over
2500 years old. The name of Buddhism religion came from a person named Buddha. He was born
Siddhartha Gautama of the Shaka. He was married and had a son. He was a teacher, but he didn't
think to be other than an ordinary human being. Other teachers were either God or directly inspired
by God. The Buddha was a true human being, and he has no inspiration from any God. According to
Buddhism the man is supreme, and he is his own master and there in no other higher power that
judgment over his destiny.
According to the huffingtonpost.com, Buddha, was the first born child. He was expected to succeed
like his father, and like all kshatriya men. He was trained from a very young age to be a soldier. The
term kshatriya means "noble warrior." Buddha was taught the alphabet and numbers at age 3, and by
6 he 'd entered the formal educational and military training program that lasted until age 16. The
curriculum included courses in logic, politics and economics.

Is Nepal a Successful Tourist Destintion?
3.2.1 Is Nepal a successful tourist Destination?
The tour operators that were interviewed for this research project have described Nepal as a country
with full of breathtaking views and mountains, scenery, wildlife conservations places such as the
national parks and the cultural and religious diversity and friendly people. But, In Denmark, Nepal
is not perceived as having all of the things mentioned above. Many Danes perceive Nepal as a
backpacking destination, hard core trekking destination and a Himalayan kingdom. The diversity of
culture, mix of religions, wildlife conservation areas and beautiful national parks, friendly Nepali
people are still unknown to many Danes in Denmark. Although Nepal possesses many assets, in the
Danish market, it is largely unknown, which is an opportunity as Danish market for traveling to
Nepal is underdeveloped and tourism to Nepal can be increased from Denmark.
On the accessibility dimension, there are problems as all of the tour operators have said that this has
been a big problem for them. There aren't many airlines flying directly to Kathmandu and there is
none at present flying directly from Copenhagen to Kathmandu. Recently, major airlines such as
Turkish airlines and Qatar airlines have started flying to Kathmandu, which has been positive news
for tourism industry. Tour operators in Denmark have said numerous times during the interview that
flight connections has been a major problem to sell travel packages to Nepal. Table 8: Hotel

Everest Base Camp Trek Research Paper
You find all sorts of people on the Everest Base Camp Trek: the old, the young and the famous. On
an Everest trek you may well be sharing the route with mountaineers and their support teams, en–
route to making a summit bid on the world's highest mountain.
Trekking to Everest Base Camp is an essential part of the route for every Everest summit attempt.
There are various Everest Base Camp treks and most begin with a flight into Lukla airport at a
height of 2860 metres. Each of these trekking routes provides a picturesque and rewarding way to
tackle the rise in altitude of 2500 metres to Everest Base Camp on the Nepal side, situated at 5360
metres in elevation. Importantly, these Everest treks incorporate rest days to provide trekkers and
mountaineers with a chance to get used to the thinner air while enjoying the scenery on the route.

Becoming A Climbing Culture Driven By Commercialism
Summiting Everest commands visions of grandeur and personal heroism for some, but to many
sherpas tasked with the greatest workload and the most to lose, Everest represents a hard,
economically necessitated risk. In a climbing culture driven by commercialism, sherpas are arguably
some of the most experienced and well adapted climbers on Mount Everest, yet have little to no say
in addressing the issues of safety or working conditions that are brought on by commercial motives.
Initiating transformational leadership can solve many of the symptomatic problems of
commercialization. By affording more influence to experienced sherpas, embracing the intellectual

237). A lack of clear communication and adherence to important plans caused (in some capacity) by
commercial motivation arguably led to the disaster in 1996. Involving sherpas more as a voice of
reason and greater expert support would provide better risk management to expeditions from the
beginning. Sherpas are are often more interested in staying safe than summiting as they work to
provide for their families year after year. As veteran climbers, know the risk Everest represents
better than any.
Utilizing the idealized influence of prominent sherpas can allow for greater support during
expeditions and give clients and other climbers experienced, safety conscious role models.
Experienced, charismatic sherpas like Lopsang and Ang Dorje who summit frequently and live at
high altitudes could provide key insight and a sense of security, if given more authority. If sherpas
had a greater role on expeditions, they might also feel inspired to take more initiative and increase
the capabilities of climbing groups in terms of communication and climbing potential. These
contributions can be enabled by providing opportunities for sherpas to train and take exams to
become certified guides themselves. The government or climbing companies could provide these
certification opportunities, but the Tibetan and Nepalese governments should certainly provide
general educational opportunities to sherpas as well.

Sherpas In Into Thin Air
Sherpas are a crucial part of the expeditions that take place on Mount Everest. Sherpas grew up in a
high elevated town, so they help climbers with Everest's altitude because their body can handle it
better than regular climbers. Also, they carry supplies, so the climbers can focus on surviving
climbing Everest. There are people that think sherpas are just the poor people of our third world
country, but that is not true. They are people just like us, good, bad or right in the middle, like most
people.
Sherpas live in the Khumbu–valley, which is the national park around Everest. Due to the fact of the
Sherpas living in high altitude regions for generations, they are used to it, and that is what Sherpas
so important to Everest climbers. The sherpas are usually happy and easy going; They are very

All of those ropes are put there by all of the sherpas climbing Everest. As a result of putting up those
lines and fixing them, carrying supplies, and helping paid climbers get to the summit of Everest,
Sherpas are in the worst amount of danger on the mountain (rockfall, crevasses, frostbite,
exhaustion, and because of the altitude, your blood will thicken, which could put you in danger of
clots and strokes). According to the Himalayan Database, 174 Sherpas have died while working in
the mountains in Nepal. 15 Sherpas have died in the last decade on Everest. If they did not die, there
were just as many Sherpas that that were disabled by rockfall, frostbite, and altitude–related
illnesses, stroke and edema. The Centers for Disease Control puts a Sherpas job the most dangerous
nonmilitary job in America, and they are more than three and a half times more likely to die than an

Peak Book Quotes
The Courageous Climbers
In the novel Peak by Roland Smith the main theme is courage. Peak is about a fourteen year old boy
named Peak Marcello, after moving from Wisconsin to New York City, Peak climbs a tall
skyscraper and gets into trouble. Instead of going to jail he has to go live with his father, Josh in
Thailand. Josh is a very successful businessman and famous mountaineer/"rock rat." (Pg. 19) Josh
surprises Peak and he finds out that he is going to climbing Mount Everest. Throughout the novel,
Peak encounters many different characters. A plentiful amount of these characters have a lot of
courage. Some of these courageous characters are Kitar, Peak, and Teri, for many reasons that you
will find out.
The first person in the novel Peak who demonstrated a great deal of courage was Sun–Jo's father,
Kitar. Sun–Jo is a Nepalese boy, only six days older than Peak, who climbs the mountain with Peak.
He is Peak's competitor and friend. Zopa who is an retired sherpa who is described with this quote.

your lungs could not withhold the strain from the high altitudes, he could have been buried under
snow from an avalanche, or killed from some other type of storm. Either way this would not stop

The Importance Of Forest Depletion In Nepal
Forest Area: 33.7%–25.4% (1990–2015). The forest area has decreased due to increased
deforestation and a risk of forest fires in Nepal.
Finland has supported Nepal's forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale
preparation, plantation and implementation of Forestry Sector Master Plan (1988 –2011), support to
Community Forestry and Leasehold Forestry Programs, Scientific Forest Management initiatives,
National Forest Resource Inventories and others.
Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the Siwalik,
the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land area, forests
cover 4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent) (DFRS 1999).
The annual rate of forest depletion in the Terai was 1.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1990/91. In the hilly
area, forest areas have declined at an annual rate of 2.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1994. In the entire
country, from 1978–79 to 1994, the forest area has decreased at an annual rate of 1.7%. This trend
indicates the ongoing pressure on forest resources, especially in the Terai. The graph above shows

Mt. Everest's Success
Mt. Everest, standing 8,850 meters above sea level is taller than any other mountain in the world.
Since 1922, hundreds of climbers have attempted to climb this treacherous mountain located in the
Himalayan Ridge, whose summit ridge separates Nepal and Tibet. By 1996, the number of
successful ascents totaled 846, with more than half occurring between 1992 – 1996. Sadly, this
achievement did not come without loss of life, as 148 have perished while trying to complete this
achievement.
In 1996, a total of 30 expeditions would attempt to reach the Summit of Mt. Everest. Two of the

The Two Self–defeating Lenses: How Long Will They Keep Preventing a Healthy Nepal–India
Relationship?
By Dr. Krishna Poudel
These two groups of actors narrate Nepal–India relationship viewing it through a treacherous lens:
the South Block and a particular genre of Indian politicians and the fanatic nationalists in Nepal.
The lenses have been self–defeating in that they have prevented the two nations from building a
healthy relationship.
The Lenses and the narratives
The lens of South Block and a particular genre of Indian politicians has four basic components: 1)
Nepal falls under the "natural" geopolitical influence of India, under the so–called extended Indian
security umbrella, and it should remain that way; 2) Delhi can twist Kathmandu's arms whenever it
wants because of the excessive economic dependence of Nepal on India and its landlocked–ness; 3)
India is entitled to micro–manage affairs in Nepal precisely to maintain that umbrella; 4) and a little
"controlled instability" will do the trick. The South Block and Indian strategists might be divided in
the fourth component, but, most of the South Block and this particular genre of Indian politicians
seem to agree in the rest of the three components. This group of actors, however, hide this outlook
in a convenient and sugar–coated narrative, directed at its own people and to the world. The
narrative is: Because of the people–to–people level connections between India and Nepal, we have a
brotherly relationship. It is

A Brief Note On The Country Of Nepal
A Landlocked nation in southern Asia, with a terrain variation from 6,000 meters altitude down to
sea level, has a unique economic structure. The long narrow country is separated into seventy five
districts, each being controlled by a chief officer. Agriculture varies because of the difference in
terrains and industry being limited. Most of the trade occurs with bordering country, India. Lifestyle
in many cities in Nepal is not as modernized as surrounding countries in Asia. It does have features
that make it a great place for tourism. Nepal is the birth place of Gautama Buddha, therefor many
Buddhist come to see the temple in where he once lived. Not only are Buddhist temples scattered
across the nation but many Hindu temples as well. For people not of these religions, a feature of
Nepal is the Highest Mountain in the world, Mount Everest. The capital, Kathmandu, is a beautiful
sight to see. This city is surrounded by mountains and the architecture is a delightful mixture of
India and China. With the various cultures and difference in lifestyle that Americans are used to,
Nepal would be a great place to take a vacation if venturing around the world is on your bucket list
In 1768 Prithvi Narayan Shah Established Nepal as Kingdom. While trying to further expand the
kingdom into the east the Sino–Nepalese War started. During the period of time from 1814–1816

My Vacation
We want to escape from our mundane routines, fly somewhere tropical with plenty of booze, and
forget about Sharon in the opposite cubicle who never stops snapping her gum. Resort hotel or
cruise ship, it doesn 't matter. Just let me enjoy my measly two weeks of vacation while I can. We
will then reluctantly return with embarrassing raccoon eyes from falling asleep on the beach with
our sunglasses on and get back to work. When Sharon, between gum snaps, peers over the cubicle
wall and asks how our vacation was, we 'll merely shrug and say, "Relaxing." And then it 's back to
waiting for the next opportunity to return to "Kokomo." While this type of vacation may be
rejuvenating and necessary for some people, more American travelers should strive for adventure
rather than convenience in their travels. Instead of soaking up the sun, try soaking up the culture.
You may find you 'll have a lot more to talk about when you return.
The first step is reconsidering your destination. Mexico, The Bahamas, Jamaica–these are beautiful
tourist spots, but they 're conventional. Millions of people travel to these places every year, and they
come back with basically the same stories of white sand beaches and hotel buffets. Instead, consider
less well–traveled places: Vietnam, Romania, South Africa, Mongolia–places many Americans
might have a hard time identifying on a map. When I met my future partner, Rojina, in college, one
of the first things she told me was that she was from Kathmandu,

Nepal 's Effect On India
Background
Nepal's geography has made Nepal economically dependent on India as it is surrounded on three
sides by India and on one (to its north) with the Himalayan range and the region of Tibet. After the
devastating earth–quake in Nepal, the country was hit by another humanitarian crisis this time due
to a blockade at a crucial crossing on the border with India, which halted oil and other essential
supplies landlocked Nepal obtains from its giant neighbor. The unveiling of a new constitution in
late September sparked tensions between the Madhesi ethnic group and the government. The

And blockade of essential supplies with complete support of Indian government. Nepalese security
had requested that it would protect truck drivers entering Nepal from the Indian border. But Indian
custom officials has blocked supplies saying it 's an order from above as in the Indian government.
So, those to blame were Madhesi leaders, Indian government for supporting them and lastly Indian
news and media giving completely biased information.
Effects of the Blockade
Nepal Oil Corporation had instructed fuel stations to stop selling petrol and diesel to vehicles
bearing private registration numbers. The Nepali government was allowing people to drive only on
alternate days and had asked people to use charcoal and firewood for cooking. It was like going
back to the stone age where daily food had to be cooked in firewood. Only army trucks, and those
carrying medical and essential supplies are being exempted. Efforts were also ongoing to reopen
trading routes with China that had remained blocked because of huge landslides since the
devastating earthquake in April 2015. On 29 September 2015, Kathmandu Airport the only
International Airport in the country issued an advisory to international airlines to carry extra fuel
after suspending refueling facility due to acute fuel shortage. As a result, many international flights

The visit of Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister to Nepal undoubtedly strengthened the ties
between the two nations. But, most importantly, it also provides Nepal with an avenue for
development through investment – foreign direct investment.
"Your rich water resources can be the powerhouse for India. Just by selling electricity to India,
Nepal can find a place in the developed nations of the world." – Narendra Modi
After the Indian PM addressed the Nepalese parliament, less than a month and a half later, the
countries sat down and inked a deal said to be the largest foreign investment Nepal has received
until now. The Nepalese Investment Board signed a Project Development Agreement with GMR
Group, an Indian multinational firm regarding the construction of the Upper Karnali hydropower
estimated worth US $ 1.5 billion. The project will generate 900 megawatts of electricity; of which
Nepal will receive 12 per cent free energy, along with 27 per cent equity. GMR Group will hand
over the project to Nepal after operating it commercially for 25

Love and Honor in the Himalayas: Coming to Know Another...
The book "Love and Honor in the Himalayas: Coming to know another culture" is ethnography by
Ernestine McHugh. In the beginning of the book, the author talks about how she developed her
interest in the field of anthropology during her undergraduate study since "at that time [she] knew
little about [it,] but [she] had mapped out a project relating to culture and the aesthetics of life"
(McHugh). It was her mentor Gregory Bateson, under whom she had developed this project who
inspired her to carry out this project in Nepal. Although her attempts at writing about her experience
failed the first time, during her graduate schooling she was encouraged by her advisor Roy
D'Andrade to continue. This book revolves around the ethnic Gurung community who live at the
foothills of the Annapurna Mountain; just about thirty miles up from the famous tourist destination
in Nepal called Pokhara. At the age of twenty–one, the village where the author lived was called
"Tebas." Although Nepal is a country filled with people who follow Hinduism and the official
language is Nepalese, she chooses a place in north central Nepal where people mostly spoke in their
own ethnic language which is very similar to Tibetan on contrary to the popular Nepalese language.
In this book she talks about how she fully immerses herself in the field work and in the process tells
the story of the people who let her in their house and more importantly made her a part of their
family. Throughout her stay she was treated

My Community Importance
Community is a place where everyone should feel comfortable being in and acknowledge one
another's decisions and their presence. Coming from a well developed community in one of the
most developed cities in Nepal, our community still lacked of several moral values and
development. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and is one of the most developed cities throughout
the country , but still coming from a well developed community , our community still faced several
problems which lacked moral values and infrastructural developments within the community.
Although our communities lacked on certain things , people in our community were still able to
provide a good amount of resources to each community which was in need of any kind of help or
resources. My Community is very much important to me because it is a big part of my life and my
journey to where i am right now.The community that i live in plays a significant role in shaping the
way i am right now. I've always had a passion in serving for my community because everyone
within my community has sacrificed something in order to do provide for each one of us in our
community. Fastforward to 2014, when Nepal's economy was in the best it could ever be after
several years , was when the government finally decided to extend the roads and highways , which
wasn't even a part of the five year plan that the government has every five years. Due to the
economic downfall in the past few years before 2014, most of the people had already

Dahal's Proposal To Amend The Constitution
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is rushing blindfolded to a precipice with his proposal to
amend the constitution. If he does not listen to the calls to open his eyes before it is too late, he will
fall off, taking the country with him. That is scary.
Dahal 's blindness to the apparent facts is baffling. He needs 396 votes out of 595 in the parliament
to approve his proposal, which he does not have, even if all his coalition partners stick with him.
Here is the math. The UML and other parties which have 200 members are openly opposing the
amendment. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party, a coalition partner with 27 members, has made it clear
that it would not support the amendment.
Besides, the Madheshi parties, with around 18 seats, have said they would support the amendment
only with further concessions, without mentioning what.
It gets even more complex. Some leaders of Dahal 's own party have openly opposed the
amendment in full or part. The Nepali Congress Party, the largest coalition partner, has the same
problem.
A five–year old child can see this simple math, but Dahal does not see or care.
Why? Enter India. Dahal has been pushing the amendment to appease India, rather than satisfy the
Madheshi parties. Indian leaders want the amendment and the Indian ambassador in Kathmandu had
overtly lobbied the Nepali leaders to deliver it.
What is India 's motivation? India has been providing development assistance to win the hearts of
the Nepali people in virtually all

The Communist Party Of Nepal
It is said in 10 years, even a river changes its course. It has in Nepal, but in 65 years, shattering its
old banks.
The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), which was established in 1950, had a humble beginning. It
played no major role in toppling the 104–year Rana oligarchy in 1950. It only won four seats in the
parliament in the first ever multiparty general elections held in 1959.
It suffered a series of breakups. The CPN broke into two after King Mahendra in a royal coup
dislodged the BP Koirala government in 1960, banned political parties and imposed the party–less
Panchayat system. One group supported the royal action and the other opposed it. Other breakups
followed, generating nearly a dozen CPNs.
In 1990, when the Nepali Congress Party led a people 's movement to restore democracy in the
wake of the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the new wave of democracy on all shores, several of its
factions formed a front and joined the movement. The merger created a strong CPN (United
Marxist–Leninist).
When King Birendra restored multiparty democracy, the CPN (UML) emerged as the second largest
party in the paliament in the 1991 general election. That is when the river of the CPN seemed to cut
its banks significantly to change its course.
The 1994 general election catapulted the CPN–UML to the largest party in the parliament, but sans
majority, and enabled it to form a minority government. But within 9 months, the government
collapsed, thwarting the course change.

The Poem ' The Refuge '
THE REFUGE There were, are, and will be the great title winner in this world. In those title, there
were, are, and will be looser. This is funny to say that I was, I am, and and will be great title winner,
where nobody loose but I the winner always win. You may think I am dumb and talk about I am
being winner is dumbest thing I have ever talk. You can call me whatever you can because I was
born with great title that few people in this world had, have, and will have. The title that might get
you to know what is that. Let 's talk about Bhutan. I think everybody know that country Bhutan that
is known as "World 's Happiest Country in The Earth." Imagining that is beginning beautiful. The
country is beautiful due to the bloods and sweet of my grandparents, and parents. Country that
called every country 's people to come and learn about good things on "Happiness." You know how
well know Bhutan was. On the other part there was m,e a kids who know that happiness was not
becoming happy. In my mind happiness was living in the struggle life. Struggle life that food aren't
enough to eat. Education isn't good and proper. Where there is no hope and life is more worst than
prison life. Struggle life? You might tell me struggling isn't happiness but I know that is happiness.
That is happiness because my late father teach me that living in struggle is more happy than living
in the place where you are like king. He always said that "if you don't have enough food to eat,

When we talk to our employees, it is about telling and sharing and validating the direction of the
company. We are very open in this regards. So, we instead ask them what the problems are in the
workings of the company, not what's good about the company. I think that's what culturally makes
people feel more ownership towards the company. You have the headquarter and corporate offices in
USA, whereas the development center is located in Nepal. So, what are some major setbacks for
such a company? Earlier, the internet speed as well as the constant black–outs used to be major
headache for us. While skyping, the communications used to be interrupted because frequently.
Now, it's almost resolved. Besides that, the other big challenge would be the time–zone. You
basically are at the opposite sides of the world. The basic question is, when you are actually going to
work together? We work with the US clients during the day, and then resume working at night and
coordinate with the team here in Nepal. How hard is it to find qualified people to work for your
company? Answer to this has been changed over time. It used to be tough set of skills that everyone
had to know. But now, what's more important is challenge for the people to learn new things. What
Nepal does not necessarily have is the talents in engineering, but it does have is lots of smart and

Buddhism Research Paper
Buddhism, as with any other religion, was created in a certain place at a certain time. Buddhism's
roots are formed in the idea that are part of the environment where it was created. One of the
important areas of this religion was the valley of the Ganges River. This river runs west to east
across most of the northern part of India. It was there that Buddhism first began and flourished.
Later it would spread to the southern part of India. During Buddha, which was around 500 B.C. this
area was undergoing a huge period of religious development.
The early years of Buddhism were shrouded in obscurity. One thing that was certain, was that, the
Sangha, which is the Buddhist order of the monks, survived the physical death, or what they
referred to as the Parinirvana of the Buddha. However the period between this event and the
reemergence of Buddhism in 250 B.C is not real clear. Buddhist tradition stated that there was a
meeting, or a council of some sort, that was held immediately following Buddha's death. The major
focus of this meeting was to stabilize the scriptures of Buddha, by coming to an agreement as to
which scriptures spoken by Buddha would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The New Constitution Of Nepal
Murari Sharma
Hundreds of Nepalis protested against the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 November in
front of the iconic British parliament, when he visited there. They shouted slogans against Modi and
India, triggered by the allegedly Indian unofficial economic blockade of Nepal, after the new
constitution of Nepal was promulgated on 20 September 2015. This mirrors the growing tension
between Nepal and India, helping neither country.
The new constitution –– which came after the Maoist insurgency that took 15,000 lives, abolition of
monarchy, election of the Constituent Assembly for the second time, and devastating earthquakes in
April and May this year –– should have been a matter of happiness and celebration across the
country. But unfortunately, that has not been the case.
On the contrary, a section of the population in the plains –– known as Terai –– have been protesting
against the statute which they find not inclusive enough and does not meet their demand for one or
two exclusive provinces for the Terai people. To force the government to amend the new charter,
they have also picketing at a few Nepal–India border points, around which they are strongly
represented.
They have mainly picketed Raxaul and a few other places, while most other border points remain
free of obstruction. Yet India has reduced to trickle the movement of trucks from both sides
especially carrying petroleum products and medicines, at all border points, citing insecurity in
Nepal.

The United Nations Report Nepal
Nepal
By: Blake Murray
Grade 7
Draft
For this United Nations report Nepal was selected. It was selected because it is a beautiful country
and for some of its famous points of interest. Nepal's relative location is between India and China. It
is in both the northern and eastern hemispheres. And the absolute location is 28 00 degrees north
and 84 00 degrees east. Nepal is only boarded by India and China and is completed landlocked; no
coastline.
Because it is located between India and China, the majority of the population is Indian and Chinese.
Nepal has a population of around thirty one million, which is small compared to the countries
boarding it.
The topography on half of the county is hills and plains and the other half is mountainous.
In the south Nepal has flat plains and hills. In the northern region, it is mountainous; covered by the
Himalaya's mountain range.
Nepal is a very popular tourist area. Some points of interest include; Mount Everest, Gokyo Lake,
Temple, and the Thamel. Mount Everest is the highest point on earth above sea level. Gokyo Lake is
at the base of Mount Everest. The Thamel is located in the capital and has been the center of the
tourist industry. It is narrow alleys with crowded shops and vendors that sell their goods, such as:
food, fresh vegetables/fruits, walking gear, pastries, trekking gear, music, DVDs, handicrafts,
souvenirs and more. These are only a few of the great sights you can visit in Nepal.

Doing Business In Nepal
I decided to do my research for values and beliefs on Nepal, because it gave me an opportunity to
share a positive experience for my pastor unlike the one Bush had with the shoes. When the first
earthquake in Nepal happened we sent a team to Nepal to help, and while they were there they
handed out white scarves. Several months later my church sent our pastor and while there the same
scarves that were handed out previously to the people got returned to our pastor. As he was leaving
people came by and hung the scarves around his neck, he was told that this was the highest respect
the people of Nepal could show. He was also handed a wooden drinking vessel, that had survived
the earthquake, it was 100+ years old and he was told that it was the highest valued ... Show more

I can not tell you what an awesome feeling it was to listen to my pastor tell the story of what he

our pastor experienced. So I decided to search on Nepal business etiquette. According to the article
"Doing Business in Nepal), it is a practiced custom when invited to someones home to give a gift

idea, because it helps get to know the person you are doing business with and help break the barrier

establish personal relationships (Culture Crossing). Which in my opinion is a good thing to help you
in your business meeting. Something I found interesting and is not practiced as it use to be in the

you offer to pay (Doing Business in Nepal). Now I don't know personally from a

The Importance Of Culture On The Culture Of Nepal
Pre–interation
Nepal is known to be a multi–religious country with religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism,
Muslim, Christianity and other religions found there. However, 80 percent of the population of
Nepal practices Hinduism. Which leads me to believe that the Hinduism has to have a great impact
on the culture of Nepal. Hinduism is a male dominated religion and women often play a secondary
role. There are many restrictive conditions that a Nepali Hindu woman has to live by. However,
there is overwhelming respect for women because they considered gifts from the gods and aspects
of pure energy. Hindus believe in the idea of karma and rebirth, the idea that each is reincarnated so
that the soul can be purified.
Orientation
Upon getting this assignment I immediately thought of doing it on Nepal's culture. I had been
intrigued each time my co–worker, Aastha, would share her stories about her home. I presumed this
would be the perfect opportunity to learn more their practices. I believe they are some similarities
between Nepali and Haitian culture in the sense that both could be viewed as having stricter values
than the western culture that most of us is familiar with. But more importantly the way that religion
is embedded within the culture is the most comparable. I believe that's where the similarities ended
and the differences began. Upon asking Aastha if she would be interested in being interviewed she
immediately began to plan what we could discussed. She almost took over

Nepal : The Most Beautiful Country Of The World
Known for being the most beautiful country in the world, Nepal is located in Asia. Just north of
China and south of India, Nepal ranges from around fifty–six miles to 143 in length from SE to NE.
Nepal's national anthem (back of report), Made of hundreds of flowers, has been the national
anthem since August 3rd, 2007. Since Nepal is a multi–ethnic, multi–racial, and multi–cultural
country, people of many different types can live together in peace. 300 CE was the year the

fourth to the eighth century. During the seventeenth century the Thakuri king were rulers, their
relationships built on strategic marriages. One of the first king's daughters was said to have married
a Tibetan prince, making him a Buddhist. Today she is still honored as a reincarnation of the
goddess Tara, the goddess of Tibetan Buddhism. The Malla kings were a newar dynasty that ruled
inside of the valley of Kathmandu from about 1200 – 1769. The Newars today consider themselves
to be original inhabitants of the valley but no one knows where they really came from or how they
arrived in the valley. After more than a century of antediluvian conflict and even a very
heartbreaking invasion in 1349, King Jayasthiti Malla accomplished his goal of uniting the entire
valley in 1382. King Yahsta Malla, King Jayasthiti Malla's grandson, worked and expanded the
valley until it reached from the tip of Ganges to Tibet.

North Ridge And The Southeast Ridge
According to mountaineer and notable author Mark Jenkins, "The two standard routes, the Northeast
ridge and the Southeast ridge are not only dangerously crowded, but also disgustingly polluted, with
garbage leaking out the glaciers and pyramids of human excrement befouling the high camps"
(Abrams). One of the issues with the popularity of Everest is pollution. With all the adoration
surrounding Everest and the first summit in 1953. Pollution on Everest is overlooked, and climbers
are not always helping the cause, the problems climbers run into while making the trek leads to
pollution as well. Referring to Professor Pablo Figueroa, he believes that there seems to be a
growing awareness, but a problem with the implementation of coordinated, long–term sustainability
policies may collide with the private interests of expeditions, tour operators and individual climbers
(Figueroa). Therefore the Nepalese government, the climbers, and the Sherpas most come an
understanding to help with pollution. Does economic growth get in the way? What is being done to
stop pollution on Everest? Is it enough? Some believe that the mountain is being cleaned up well
and that pollution is not a problem amongst the great mountain. Jonathan Chester a professional
photographer and author of The Young Adventurer's Guide to Everest states, Mount Everest is
known to be the highest junkyard in the world even though the expeditions today are much more
sanitary than they were ten years ago. Trash is much

King Prithivi Narayan Shah : The Conflict Of Interests...
After defeating the incumbent prime minister, KP Oli is in the process of forming a new government
in Nepal. He faces daunting challenges –– both old and new –– in the days ahead.
Let us start with the old challenges. National interest drives the foreign policy of each country. Both
India and China prefer a seamlessly friendly government in Nepal, which is not possible given the
strategic contest and territorial conflict between them.
King Prithivi Narayan Shah understood the conflict of interests between the two neighbors,
characterized his newly unified kingdom as a yam between two large boulders, and counselled his
courtiers to keep both neighbors at arm 's length. Over time, Nepali rulers forgot the unifier 's
counsel. Nepal fought two wars with Tibet–China and two with British India.
Following the loss of the second war with its southern neighbor, Nepal was forced to cede one–third
of its territory, most of it fertile plains, and much of its sovereign freedom under the Sugauli Treaty
of 1815. Jang Bahadur Rana restored some of the lost land by helping the British quell the Sepoy
Mutiny of 1857, but the rest of the land and much of sovereignty remain irritrievable up to this day.
China did not pay much attention to Nepal until in grew economically and strategically into a global
power. Since the turn of the new century, Beijing has begun to take interest in Nepali politics,
complicating Kathmandu 's foreign relations with its immediate neighbors.

  • 1. The Ngarrindjeri Nation across the South East Section of... The Ngarrindjeri nation arrays across the South East section of South Australia; as seen in Figure 1. Figure 1: Map of the Ngarrindjeri Nation (Horton, 1996) The Ngarrindjeri is an Aboriginal nation is made up of 18 tribes, extending 30km along the river Murray (slsa SA gov, 2012). Having been ushered to leave their land, the Ngarrindjeri people were greatly affected by white settlement. Culture within the Ngarrindjeri nation is central to water specifically being the Coorong and River Murray (CSIRO, 2010). Having great relations between the water and their cultural beliefs, shows the general agreement which white people have come to learn; "living with the land" (ACME, 2008) 2.2 Background of the Gorkha District Located 150km west of the capital of Nepal (Kathmandu), the Gorkha district of Nepal is home to 271,000 (2011) and covers an approximate area of 3,610 square kilometers (ncthakur, 2011). Figure 2 clearly shows the Gorkha district of Nepal. Figure 2: Map of Gorkha district in Nepal (Al, 2009) Rough, hilly terrain fills the area in which Gorkha is situated, making transport and construction just a little more difficult compared with the flat plains which remain in other areas of Nepal (Raaz, 2014). There are a few known geographical landmarks including; Gorkha Bazaar, Gorkha Durbar and Gorakhnath Caves. (Ibriz Interactive, 2012) states that the Gorkha Durbar with a palace and fort, is the centerpiece of the region and is a cultural place. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Commercialization Of Everest Essay When you look at the commercialization of Mount Everest, a sad story starts to unfold. People say Everest has gone from being the definitive contest for the most capable mountaineers to a bucket list check off for quest chasers. Problems are coming forward that are threatening expeditions and livelihoods that surround Everest. The areas that tourists use to access Everest, and the hillside itself is getting inundated with trash, human waste, and pollution. The backbone of the expedition operations known as the Sherpa people are being exploited for their labor and disregarded. Little to no regulation or policy that protects Everest and its fragile infrastructure is being created, put in place, or enforced. Overall, things are getting out of control surrounding Everest. If Nepal's government or people don't stand up and take ownership of their mountains, the beautiful section of the Himalayas that holds the world's highest ground will either be closed off by country governments, or as said before, it will really become the world's highest garbage dump. In all of history, archives of the excursions to Mount Everest are still young. At a hefty 29,029 feet above sea level, the same elevation commercial jet liners are flying at, it's easy to see why this mountain summit is extremely difficult to reach. It wasn't until the 19th century it would be identified as the highest point on the Earth's surface. In 1852 is was finally declared the roof of the world. The first documented ... • 3. The Immorality Of Nepalese Business Being Publicized One... Introduction When it comes to moral behavior, Nepalese society held high demands. It is something our collective society is made up of. But in the developing country like ours where business is yet to be professionalized, the morality that has bounded our society for years is very weak within business and its impacts can be seen in our society and nation. Few years ago news explaining immorality transfused in Nepalese business being publicized one after another. Case Study: Gudpak Turned Sour Kathmandu: September 6, 2014 Forum for Customer Right Protection on Tuesday, September 4 2014 filed case against four businessmen dealing in Sweets at the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanuman Dhoka. The cases were filed against famous sweet shop owners of "Corner Taaja Gudpak Bhandar", "Shri Krishna Gudpak Bhandar", "Anmol Sweets", and "Kanhaiya Ghee Brand". These outlets were using animal fat in the name of pure ghee and rotten, expired sweets and raw materials for preparing Gudpak and Pustakari (type of Nepali sweet). The production site was found very unhygienic and unsanitary. On the other hand, Kanhaiya Ghee Brand was found producing and selling inedible ghee (type of butter) with zero RM value. A kg of gudpak and pustakari, bought after struggling with the commotion and the crowd at the shop, would bring smiles back home in our families, the kids and old. Gudpak was not just a sweet made from the milk and its derivative but a culture among the Nepalese and it still continues to be. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thousands of people have fled the areas especially around Kathmandu fearing aftershocks or trying to get to family member 's homes in remote areas. At one point Nepal was one of the least urbanized countries in the world (NORMAN). They are now accelerating in the world of urbanization. Kathmandu and a few other neighboring cities many of buildings are somewhat structurally sound, the buildings are usually pagoda style and shikhara style (NORMAN). Many of the new buildings are well maintained, the older residential buildings and smaller temples have fallen into despair (NORMAN). Rural architecture is very plain, they are one or two stories. • 5. A Cold War A cold war has broken recently between the government and the Supreme Court in Nepal. One or the other side may win this war, but the constitution, the due process of law and the Nepali people will be the ultimate losers in it. It is important to put the case in perspective to cut out the misinformation about it. The government promoted Deputy Inspector General Jaya Bahadur Chand as inspector general of police. His competitor Nawaraj Silwal went to the Supreme Court against the decision. The court quashed the decision, and the government appointed another DIG Prakash Aryal to the post. Silwal knocked the court 's door with the second petition, which the court for examination. Angered by this, the ruling coalition directed its members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, the public is divided. In view of the widespread criticism, the government decided to put the motion on hold, and the Parliament decided to postpone its meetings until after the local elections due on 14 May 2017. But the debate continues unabated. Based purely on the constitutional provisions, I agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously and for going after Karki to intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from holding it to account through judicial reviews of its decisions and follow–ups. Here are the provisions of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of parliament can move the motion of impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court if they fail to fulfill his their duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law, incompetence or misconduct or failure and honestly or serious violation of the code of conduct. Section (6): Once the motion is moved, the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court would not be able to discharge their duties. • 7. Is Nepal a Successful Tourist Destintion? 3.2.1 Is Nepal a successful tourist Destination? The tour operators that were interviewed for this research project have described Nepal as a country with full of breathtaking views and mountains, scenery, wildlife conservations places such as the national parks and the cultural and religious diversity and friendly people. But, In Denmark, Nepal is not perceived as having all of the things mentioned above. Many Danes perceive Nepal as a backpacking destination, hard core trekking destination and a Himalayan kingdom. The diversity of culture, mix of religions, wildlife conservation areas and beautiful national parks, friendly Nepali people are still unknown to many Danes in Denmark. Although Nepal possesses many assets, in the Danish market, it is largely unknown, which is an opportunity as Danish market for traveling to Nepal is underdeveloped and tourism to Nepal can be increased from Denmark. On the accessibility dimension, there are problems as all of the tour operators have said that this has been a big problem for them. There aren't many airlines flying directly to Kathmandu and there is none at present flying directly from Copenhagen to Kathmandu. Recently, major airlines such as Turkish airlines and Qatar airlines have started flying to Kathmandu, which has been positive news for tourism industry. Tour operators in Denmark have said numerous times during the interview that flight connections has been a major problem to sell travel packages to Nepal. Table 8: Hotel ... On an Everest trek you may well be sharing the route with mountaineers and their support teams, en– route to making a summit bid on the world's highest mountain. Trekking to Everest Base Camp is an essential part of the route for every Everest summit attempt. There are various Everest Base Camp treks and most begin with a flight into Lukla airport at a height of 2860 metres. Each of these trekking routes provides a picturesque and rewarding way to tackle the rise in altitude of 2500 metres to Everest Base Camp on the Nepal side, situated at 5360 metres in elevation. Importantly, these Everest treks incorporate rest days to provide trekkers and mountaineers with a chance to get used to the thinner air while enjoying the scenery on the route. Bear would fly in a supercharged vehicle designed by his friend Giles "Gilo" Cardozo, trying to exceed the existing altitude record for paragliding of 20,017 feet (6101 metres). In May 2007, the team set up their "Mission Everest" Base Camp having trekked with their heavy equipment to an altitude of 4400 metres in Nepal. On the day of the flight, with three hours' worth of good weather, fuel and oxygen, Bear and Gilo launched themselves into the air strapped to what looked to be little more than a chair with a motor and parachute attached. Soon they were spiralling up to a height further than that capable by the camera helicopter that was following their progress. • 9. Becoming A Climbing Culture Driven By Commercialism Summiting Everest commands visions of grandeur and personal heroism for some, but to many sherpas tasked with the greatest workload and the most to lose, Everest represents a hard, economically necessitated risk. In a climbing culture driven by commercialism, sherpas are arguably some of the most experienced and well adapted climbers on Mount Everest, yet have little to no say in addressing the issues of safety or working conditions that are brought on by commercial motives. Initiating transformational leadership can solve many of the symptomatic problems of commercialization. By affording more influence to experienced sherpas, embracing the intellectual stimulation of safety challenges, inspiring clients' independence, and individually ... Involving sherpas more as a voice of reason and greater expert support would provide better risk management to expeditions from the beginning. Sherpas are are often more interested in staying safe than summiting as they work to provide for their families year after year. As veteran climbers, know the risk Everest represents better than any. Utilizing the idealized influence of prominent sherpas can allow for greater support during expeditions and give clients and other climbers experienced, safety conscious role models. Experienced, charismatic sherpas like Lopsang and Ang Dorje who summit frequently and live at high altitudes could provide key insight and a sense of security, if given more authority. If sherpas had a greater role on expeditions, they might also feel inspired to take more initiative and increase the capabilities of climbing groups in terms of communication and climbing potential. These contributions can be enabled by providing opportunities for sherpas to train and take exams to become certified guides themselves. The government or climbing companies could provide these certification opportunities, but the Tibetan and Nepalese governments should certainly provide general educational opportunities to sherpas as well. ... Sherpas grew up in a high elevated town, so they help climbers with Everest's altitude because their body can handle it better than regular climbers. Also, they carry supplies, so the climbers can focus on surviving climbing Everest. There are people that think sherpas are just the poor people of our third world country, but that is not true. They are people just like us, good, bad or right in the middle, like most people. Sherpas live in the Khumbu–valley, which is the national park around Everest. Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the Siwalik, the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land area, forests cover 4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent) (DFRS 1999). By Dr. Krishna Poudel These two groups of actors narrate Nepal–India relationship viewing it through a treacherous lens: the South Block and a particular genre of Indian politicians and the fanatic nationalists in Nepal. The lenses have been self–defeating in that they have prevented the two nations from building a healthy relationship. The Lenses and the narratives The lens of South Block and a particular genre of Indian politicians has four basic components: 1) Nepal falls under the "natural" geopolitical influence of India, under the so–called extended Indian security umbrella, and it should remain that way; 2) Delhi can twist Kathmandu's arms whenever it wants because of the excessive economic dependence of Nepal on India and its landlocked–ness; 3) India is entitled to micro–manage affairs in Nepal precisely to maintain that umbrella; 4) and a little "controlled instability" will do the trick. The South Block and Indian strategists might be divided in the fourth component, but, most of the South Block and this particular genre of Indian politicians seem to agree in the rest of the three components. This group of actors, however, hide this outlook in a convenient and sugar–coated narrative, directed at its own people and to the world. The long narrow country is separated into seventy five districts, each being controlled by a chief officer. Agriculture varies because of the difference in terrains and industry being limited. Most of the trade occurs with bordering country, India. Lifestyle in many cities in Nepal is not as modernized as surrounding countries in Asia. It does have features that make it a great place for tourism. Nepal is the birth place of Gautama Buddha, therefor many Buddhist come to see the temple in where he once lived. Resort hotel or cruise ship, it doesn 't matter. Just let me enjoy my measly two weeks of vacation while I can. We will then reluctantly return with embarrassing raccoon eyes from falling asleep on the beach with our sunglasses on and get back to work. When Sharon, between gum snaps, peers over the cubicle wall and asks how our vacation was, we 'll merely shrug and say, "Relaxing." And then it 's back to waiting for the next opportunity to return to "Kokomo." While this type of vacation may be rejuvenating and necessary for some people, more American travelers should strive for adventure rather than convenience in their travels. Instead of soaking up the sun, try soaking up the culture. You may find you 'll have a lot more to talk about when you return. The first step is reconsidering your destination. Mexico, The Bahamas, Jamaica–these are beautiful tourist spots, but they 're conventional. Millions of people travel to these places every year, and they come back with basically the same stories of white sand beaches and hotel buffets. In the beginning of the book, the author talks about how she developed her interest in the field of anthropology during her undergraduate study since "at that time [she] knew little about [it,] but [she] had mapped out a project relating to culture and the aesthetics of life" (McHugh). It was her mentor Gregory Bateson, under whom she had developed this project who inspired her to carry out this project in Nepal. Although her attempts at writing about her experience failed the first time, during her graduate schooling she was encouraged by her advisor Roy D'Andrade to continue. This book revolves around the ethnic Gurung community who live at the foothills of the Annapurna Mountain; just about thirty miles up from the famous tourist destination in Nepal called Pokhara. At the age of twenty–one, the village where the author lived was called "Tebas." Although Nepal is a country filled with people who follow Hinduism and the official language is Nepalese, she chooses a place in north central Nepal where people mostly spoke in their own ethnic language which is very similar to Tibetan on contrary to the popular Nepalese language. If he does not listen to the calls to open his eyes before it is too late, he will fall off, taking the country with him. That is scary. Dahal 's blindness to the apparent facts is baffling. He needs 396 votes out of 595 in the parliament to approve his proposal, which he does not have, even if all his coalition partners stick with him. Here is the math. The UML and other parties which have 200 members are openly opposing the amendment. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party, a coalition partner with 27 members, has made it clear that it would not support the amendment. Besides, the Madheshi parties, with around 18 seats, have said they would support the amendment only with further concessions, without mentioning what. It gets even more complex. Some leaders of Dahal 's own party have openly opposed the amendment in full or part. The Nepali Congress Party, the largest coalition partner, has the same problem. A five–year old child can see this simple math, but Dahal does not see or care. Why? Enter India. Dahal has been pushing the amendment to appease India, rather than satisfy the Madheshi parties. The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), which was established in 1950, had a humble beginning. It played no major role in toppling the 104–year Rana oligarchy in 1950. It only won four seats in the parliament in the first ever multiparty general elections held in 1959. It suffered a series of breakups. The CPN broke into two after King Mahendra in a royal coup dislodged the BP Koirala government in 1960, banned political parties and imposed the party–less Panchayat system. One group supported the royal action and the other opposed it. Other breakups followed, generating nearly a dozen CPNs. In 1990, when the Nepali Congress Party led a people 's movement to restore democracy in the wake of the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the new wave of democracy on all shores, several of its factions formed a front and joined the movement. The merger created a strong CPN (United Marxist–Leninist). When King Birendra restored multiparty democracy, the CPN (UML) emerged as the second largest party in the paliament in the 1991 general election. That is when the river of the CPN seemed to cut its banks significantly to change its course. The new constitution –– which came after the Maoist insurgency that took 15,000 lives, abolition of monarchy, election of the Constituent Assembly for the second time, and devastating earthquakes in April and May this year –– should have been a matter of happiness and celebration across the country. • 33. The Importance Of Culture On The Culture Of Nepal Pre–interation Nepal is known to be a multi–religious country with religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity and other religions found there. However, 80 percent of the population of Nepal practices Hinduism. Which leads me to believe that the Hinduism has to have a great impact on the culture of Nepal. Hinduism is a male dominated religion and women often play a secondary role. There are many restrictive conditions that a Nepali Hindu woman has to live by. However, there is overwhelming respect for women because they considered gifts from the gods and aspects of pure energy. Hindus believe in the idea of karma and rebirth, the idea that each is reincarnated so that the soul can be purified. Orientation Upon getting this assignment I immediately thought of doing it on Nepal's culture. I had been intrigued each time my co–worker, Aastha, would share her stories about her home. I presumed this would be the perfect opportunity to learn more their practices. I believe they are some similarities between Nepali and Haitian culture in the sense that both could be viewed as having stricter values than the western culture that most of us is familiar with. But more importantly the way that religion is embedded within the culture is the most comparable. I believe that's where the similarities ended and the differences began. Upon asking Aastha if she would be interested in being interviewed she immediately began to plan what we could discussed. She almost took over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. North Ridge And The Southeast Ridge According to mountaineer and notable author Mark Jenkins, "The two standard routes, the Northeast ridge and the Southeast ridge are not only dangerously crowded, but also disgustingly polluted, with garbage leaking out the glaciers and pyramids of human excrement befouling the high camps" (Abrams). One of the issues with the popularity of Everest is pollution. With all the adoration surrounding Everest and the first summit in 1953. Pollution on Everest is overlooked, and climbers are not always helping the cause, the problems climbers run into while making the trek leads to pollution as well. Referring to Professor Pablo Figueroa, he believes that there seems to be a growing awareness, but a problem with the implementation of coordinated, long–term sustainability policies may collide with the private interests of expeditions, tour operators and individual climbers (Figueroa). Therefore the Nepalese government, the climbers, and the Sherpas most come an understanding to help with pollution. Does economic growth get in the way? What is being done to stop pollution on Everest? Is it enough? Some believe that the mountain is being cleaned up well and that pollution is not a problem amongst the great mountain. • 39. King Prithivi Narayan Shah : The Conflict Of Interests... After defeating the incumbent prime minister, KP Oli is in the process of forming a new government in Nepal. He faces daunting challenges –– both old and new –– in the days ahead. Let us start with the old challenges. National interest drives the foreign policy of each country. Both India and China prefer a seamlessly friendly government in Nepal, which is not possible given the strategic contest and territorial conflict between them. King Prithivi Narayan Shah understood the conflict of interests between the two neighbors, characterized his newly unified kingdom as a yam between two large boulders, and counselled his courtiers to keep both neighbors at arm 's length. Over time, Nepali rulers forgot the unifier 's counsel. Nepal fought two wars with Tibet–China and two with British India. Following the loss of the second war with its southern neighbor, Nepal was forced to cede one–third of its territory, most of it fertile plains, and much of its sovereign freedom under the Sugauli Treaty of 1815. Jang Bahadur Rana restored some of the lost land by helping the British quell the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, but the rest of the land and much of sovereignty remain irritrievable up to this day. China did not pay much attention to Nepal until in grew economically and strategically into a global power. Since the turn of the new century, Beijing has begun to take interest in Nepali politics, complicating Kathmandu 's foreign relations with its immediate neighbors. Lord Palmerston ...
