1979 Education
Education policy has developed in the UK since the Thatcher period because when Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister, the governance of
education was largely unchanged since the first world war. In schools, there was no national curriculum, no parental choice, no systematic means of
monitoring performance, no publication of examination results beyond what schools themselves chose to reveal. Local authorities drew up catchment
areas, and they decided which children went to which school, and distributed funds, specifying what should be spent on teachers' salaries, repairs,
books and other items. (Wilby, 2013)
But, in the UK during the Thatcher period, there were many education policies that were introduced. These include; 1979 Education Act, ... Show more

They both have a national curriculum and students have to adhere to uniform in both countries. Education is compulsory in both countries, although the
age at which they have to attend is different. Also, students have to pass examination(s) in both the UK and India to get into higher education. The
differences are the quality in the education provided. In India, due to mass amount of students and the lack of funds then students have to be taught in
large classrooms where students cannot generally get the support if they need it, but in the UK they only have class sizes of 30 or less and this ensures
students can get the support if they need it, and staff are aware if a student is

I had to make incredibly painful decisions, but I knew enough to insist on getting information on a timely manner and my rights as a patient and

taught me that many people do not have the benefit of others who can guide them during times of great personal needs, and do not comprehend that our

Hampton Machine Tool Company –Case Write–up
Summary:
On September 12, 1979, Hampton Machine Tool Company requested from St. Louis National Bank a renewal to their loan of $1,000,000 due to be
repaid on September 30, 1979 and also to be given an additional loan of $350,000 for new equipment purchases in October 1979. Both loans were to be
repaid on December 31, 1979. Hampton M.T. Company wrote a letter to the St. Louis National Bank stating the reasons for the extension of the loan
and the need of the additional loan, and giving the current and the predicted future financial position of the company. In order to decide whether to
approve the loan extension and the additional new loan, the bank examine the financial position of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cash budget only includes the cash the company has at the start of the business as well as items that they will be paying for in cash. On the other
hand, a pro forma income statement takes into account projected revenues from sales. Projected sales minus cost of goods sold as well as other
expenses tell the net income. The pro forma income statement, in the end, gives projected profit, whereas the cash budget sheet in the end informs
whether or not the business will be lacking cash to operate. In Hampton Machine Tool, the December ending cash balance is not equal to the projected
revenues from sales. This means that HMTC is projected to lose cash and will need that much cash in order to continue operating. That's why HTMC
requested the additional loan from the bank
5–Critically evaluate the assumptions on which your forecasts are based. What developments could alter the results? Is Mr. Cowins correct in his belief
that Hampton can repay its loan in
December?
It is important to explain some of the assumptions made in the pro forma statement, as they play a critical part in determining the forecasted revenues.
Cost of sales was determined by the equation purchases + other outlays – change in inventory, other outlays = cost of sales. Other Expenses was
calculated by adding depreciation costs and four months' worth of interest, which came to $47,000

Outbreak Of A Rare Species Of E. Coli
Last summer 2011, Germany stumbled upon an outbreak of a rare species of E. coli O104:H4 (Pennington 2011). The causative strains appeared to
have features from two different E. coli pathotypes of enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC) and shiga–toxin–producing E. coli (STEC) called
enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) (Bloch, Felczykowska and Nejman–Faleńczyk 2012). The main effect from this strain causes major incident of
gastroenteritis and unusual develop of haemolytic–uremic syndrome (HUS) among the affected patients (Rasko et al 2011). HUS often described as
group of disease of haemolytic anaemia, acute renal failure and thrombocytopenia (Schifferli eta al 2009). And it is known to be the result of infection
by pathogens that produce shiga–toxin (Walker, Applegate and Black 2012). This particular strain possessed several identical characteristics with some
older STEC cases but with different serotypes such as E. coli O105:H7, O121:H19 and O111:H8 (Scheutz et. al 2011). At the end of the outbreak,
nearly 3500 cases of EHEC were recorded with 850 patients experience the progression to HUS and 82 deaths (RKI 2011).
On 1st May, hospital in Germany received patient with gastroenteritis symptoms and believed to be the first case that linked with the outbreak
(Altmann et al 2011). As of the first week of May, which was the presumed initial onset of the disease, HUS cases started to develop and around 0 to 2
new cases of HUS were recorded daily. Then, since 9th May, it started to show

A WBS helped the project team identify and publish the work scope of the project – the tasks needed to achieve the project goal as a basis for
estimating, scheduling and tracking progress (as per Task Schedule above). Network Diagram. Using Post–it Notes a network diagram was prepared
that allowed for identification of the project critical path and float for non–critical tasks to be undertaken during the project (refer to above Task
Schedule): Process Mapping. It was useful to talk with employees and map their work processes as a basis for identifying with them where these
processes might be made more effective and efficient. Outsourcing Work. Outsourcing means just what it says – going "out" to find a "source" to
undertake the work. The most obvious advantage of outsourcing appeared to be the cost savings that would come with not having to purchase
additional equipment or work space and not having to add to the employee headcount. However, it was noted that some organisations are now doing
more themselves in order to develop or preserve their expertise and self–sufficiency. Paired Comparisons Table. This devise helped the project team
determine priorities and was particularly useful for prioritising option selection criteria, recognising that some were more important than

Secondly, though the automobile manufacturers in the area were not expanding, this segment of Hampton's market had at least stabilized. Finahy, the
adverse economic conditions in the rrdd–1970s had taken their toll in the regional capital goods industry. Consequently, Hampton's market share
increased as many tl–dnly capitalized competitors had been forced out of the industry. Hampton's recovery had suffered a n–dld setback, as 1978 sales
were far below capacity. However, with a substantial backlog of firm sales orders, Hampton entered 1979 expecting its first year of capacity sales since
1972. Hampton's conservative financial policies had contributed to its survival and success in the volatile capital goods industry. The company had
traditionally maintained a strong working capital positic,n as a buffer against economic uncertainty. As a result, the company had no debt on its balance
sheet during the ten years prior to December 1978. In a meeting in early December 1978, Mr. Benjan–dn G. Cowins, president of Hampton, requested
the initial loan of $1 million to facilitate purchasing the stock of several dissident shareholders. While Hampton had some cash in excess of that
required for normal operations, excess cash was not sufficient to effect the stock redemption. Therefore, lr. Cowins had asked Mr. Eckwood for a loan
from the St. Louis National Bank. The loan of $1 million %N–as to be taken down at the end of December 1978. Hampton

Separation Exists Between Society And The Penal System
Separation exists between society and the penal system, and due to this, there is a grave lack of knowledge of what is happening behind bars and how
we can improve the situation we have currently in regards to the prison system. There are major flaws that exist within the penal system, and Angela
Davis highlighted the main one of secrecy. We know based off of research that our prison population commonly consists of individuals who struggle
academically (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32). Because of this lack of a strong education, they may not possess basic skills like reading, with about 20 %
performing at an illiterate level within state facilities (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32), which prisons are not going around glorifying. Another sort of hidden
and degrading factor that Davis does not directly mention is the use of solitary confinement. We learned from Maggie's presentation the harmful mental
health effects on those whom are placed in solitary confinement (December 1, presentations). While in solitary confinement, inmates are hidden away
in "a place of punishment within a place of punishment" (Conover, 2001, pg 126), while being degraded with neither little to no time outside, nor any
human interaction (Conover, 2001, pg 127). It's disturbing that it was not intended as a form of punishment, yet is used as one now (October 22, film).
During the History of Prisons film we watched, they explained the use of solitary confinement for reflection purposes (October 22, film).

(Exhibit 5) This may only have a nominal effect on their current problem, but is a move they should make nonetheless. I have assumed they have not
been doing this since they show no interest revenue on their income statement. This would not solve their short cash flow problems, but it would be a
sound practice to implant for the future. A savings account is a safe nonvolatile place to have the money and it is instantly accessible to Hampton.
They should also change their billing policy to help finance the projects. They should bill their customers monthly based on the percentage of

repurchase, for which the loan was initially requested, was a major cash disbursement of $3 million. In the period between November 1978 and August
1979, stock repurchase represented 58% of total expenditures for that period, while inventory purchases represented 42% of total expenditures. There
were some developments that also contributed to this situation. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main reasons for this negative cash balance may be that Hampton is experiencing liquidity problems, that is, they are not generating enough
cash to pay for their current expenses. Another factor that may contribute to such phenomenon is the delays in production that Hampton has had
because suppliers have not delivered the raw materials. The inventory conversion period is greater than what Hampton can finance because the cash
conversion cycle is even greater than collections from customers.
4. Critically evaluate the assumptions on which your forecasts are based. What developments could alter your results? Is Mr. Cowins correct in his
belief that Hampton can repay the loan in December?
Some of the assumptions include: One assumption that should be clearly analyzed is that the collection period is of 30 days net. Not always customers
have the ability and willingness to pay off their debts in 30 days, some may take more time, and some could incur in bad debt. Another assumption
Hampton is making is that the company will be able to pay off debts in 30 days. There is no 100% certainty this will happen. The assumption that
accruals and prepaid expenses will remain fairly stable and constant should be analyzed more clearly, because this is not always the case. Another
assumption is that the shipments are going to be made exactly as they forecasted. It is important to note that in the

A History of the AT&T Stadium
The Dallas Cowboys, America's football team, one of the most well known professional football franchises in the sport's history. The Cowboys own
five super bowl titles, which were won in '71, '77, '92, '93 and '95. They are also home to 19 renowned individuals who have been inducted into the
NFL Hall of Fame including standout football stars Tony Dorsett, Emmit Smith, and Troy Aikman. Established in 1960, the Cowboys have been a
dominating force on the field and still continue to produce to this day. Forbes wrote, "The Cowboys franchise value reaches over 1.85 billion and are
listed as the third most valued sports team in the world", (Page 1). With all of this hype and world wide recognition the powerhouse from Dallas needs a

To aid Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, whom is stated in Forbes Magazine as being "worth 3.1 billion dollars himself," (Page 1), in
paying the construction costs of the new stadium, Arlington voters approved the increase of the city's sales tax by 0.5 percent, the hotel occupancy tax
by 2 percent, and car rental tax by 5 percent. The City of Arlington provided over $325 million (including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones
covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, following its policy for facilitating financing for
the construction of new stadiums," (Page 1). –Strengths and Weaknesses– A key strength that the Cowboys franchise holds is the obvious tradition of
winning and success on the football field. As mentioned before, the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl titles and that gives the team a legendary aura every
time they step out on the field. This allows their fan base to be very large, consistent and proud to be part of the franchise. Along with that strength
though, comes a weakness. The history of the Cowboys is a history of excellence and winning which is hard to hold and be consistent with in the NFL.
Winning three Super Bowl titles in four years is a hard mark to reach but ever since that accomplishment the Cowboys have been nowhere near
replicating that achievement. The fan base was created through the great seasons of football that the Cowboys have

Sale Of Goods Act 1979 : Inclusive And Analyse The...
Introduction: In this assignment I will explain the implied terms under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 ss12–14 inclusive and analyse the effectiveness and
application of these sections. Furthermore I will use relevant case law and academic research to support my arguments. The implied conditions which
was originally introduced by Sales Of Goods Act 1893 but can now be found in Sections 12–15 of the Sales of Goods Act 1979. Contracts for Sales Of
Goods are governed by the Sales of Goods Act 1979, not just the consumer contracts, therefore this act has been amended by the Sale and Supply of
Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002, which implemented Directive 1999/44. The Sales Of Goods Act 1979 is crucial for consumers as it refers to
laws that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The SGR's are there for consumers who are entitled to goods of satisfactory quality, taking account of any description, the price and other
circumstances. Therefore if there is an item that has a fault that is present at the time of sale, the consumer can complain once it has been discovered.
Hence the aim for this Directive is to encourage people to shop across borders, knowing they have protection if anything is wrong with the products
they buy. Section 12 [1] The Right to Sell: S.B. Marsh and J. Soulsby (2002,pp. 180–181) mentions that " an implied term on the part of the seller in the
case of a sale, he has the right to sell the goods, and in the case of an agreement to sell, he will have such a right at the when the property is to pass" .
S.12 (1) implies a term that the seller has the right to sell the goods. This covers situations where the seller is selling stolen goods. This is known as
condition. Moreover a buyer who treats the contract as repudiated is entitled to return of the full purchase price even if they have enjoyed use of the
goods for some time. We can see an example in the following case, In Rowland v Divall [1923] , it was held that the defendant did not have the right to
sell the goods, as he did not obtain good title from the thief. Ownership remained with the original owner. However the defendant had 2 months use of
the car, which he did not have to pay for, and the

Developing Competitive Advantage Advantages And Disadvantages
F. Developing Competitive Advantages (refer to Exhibit 4.7) As previously stated, it is difficult to pinpoint a competitive advantage due to of the hyper
competitive environment. Our strengths of the program are matched or exceeded by competitors. The areas we could potentially capitalize on are our
academic rigor, our passionate staff in Southeast Online and the nursing department who provide excellent customer service, and the prevalence of
nursing courses being taught by tenure track faculty. However, we aren't the only program that has passionate staff, that teaches using tenured faculty,
and are academically rigorous. The only way to provide leverage is if we are able to be the best in one of these area's compared to our top regional
competitors due to of the preference to attend within 100 miles from home. With all of our weaknesses and strengths identified, and considering that
our students ranked helpfulness of staff higher than quality of the program, customer intimacy is our best chance of differentiating ourselves. There are
multiple weaknesses that can be converted into strengths, however the ability to do that will take a substantial amount of time due to the culture. For
example, time from application to enrollment. When a student applies to the university, we can't accept them until we have received all of their
transcripts. Students are admitted and sent a notification to wait until the Registrar's Office completes their transcript review before

The Court also stated that a claimant would have to demonstrate the bank had acted in bad faith before civil liability would be entertained.
In its decision the Court of appeal did make reference to the dual pull on Banks in having to comply with the heavy demands of a regulator whilst
mitigating civil actions from potentially disgruntled customers. It also made reference to a previous court case (De Silva v NatWest Bank 2006) where
the court made specific reference to the meaning of the word 'suspect'. Here, in relations to the claim by Mr Shah that the reason for the suspicion itself
was irrational, negligently self–induced and mistaken, the court confirmed that HSBC merely had to think that there was a possibility, which was more
than fanciful, that the relevant facts exist when completing its SAR. On a wider note the Court also deemed that in the future having a suspicion may
constitute a good defence for Banks.
The subject of tipping off can be one of the most ambiguous subjects within financial organisations. There are clear laws that have financial and
punitive repercussions for those who recklessly or mistakenly divulge the suspicions of the firm they are working on behalf of. The court here ruled that

Cyber-Terrorism Essay
Cyber–Terrorism Cyber–Terrorism is a reality in the modern age of rapid technological advancement. As fast as new technology is established, people
find ways to hack and corrupt it. Many times there is malicious intent behind such actions. These acts can include everything from computer viruses to
contraband network servers to pirated IP addresses and credit account fraud. All of the stories we hear and those annoying emails that warn of a
multitude of viruses can lull us into complacency when none of them come to fruition. In all honesty if you have a top–level virus–scanning program
such as Norton, or McAfee your machine will be safe from most of the little viruses that you will come across. There is a propensity to copy ... Show

Such a virus could go undetected for hours, days or months as it worked its way throughout a particular system and then strike at a pre–selected time.
For the entire computer operated portions of American society this is a threat, this extends from mass transit to police and bank records and correctional
facilities. Massive destruction both physical and theoretic could easily occur and quite frankly September 11th could be seen as precursor to the
uniform and grave situation systematic mainframe crashes would cause. This would be a case of international espionage and would be a drastic move
from the normal programs the tech security groups deal with on a daily basis. This type of attack could slide under existing defense and not be
identified until it was too late thus rendering the attempts to defend helpless. A comparison would be the 9/11 attacks and how they were almost
indefensible because of the suicide bomber mentality of the attackers. Similarly, the new age Cyber–Terrorists would not want the viruses to be
detected and have no desire to impress their peers as is the case with their traditional counterparts. Since this is a new type of cyber warfare, there is no
consensus on how to deal with theses issues. In a story reported by PC Mag, the FBI has contacted many of the individuals who they have identified as
suspected hackers across America as well as a handful of those

Lupus Informative Speech
Grace Spottswood, 1–30–15, Watermelon Lupus: Imagine skiing down the slopes and watching all of the happy people enjoying their ski trip, and
wondering, why do I feel so sick? Imagine going to countless doctors' appointments, and being treated for anxiety and facial migraines. No one believes
your symptoms are real, but you know something isn't right. After five years of suffering, you are finally diagnosed with an incurable disease.
Somehow you feel relief. This mystery disease is called lupus, an autoimmune disease which makes the body unable to tell healthy tissue from
unhealthy tissue. The body then attacks the healthy tissue to get rid of what it believes is unhealthy tissue, this mistake causes the body to inflict pain on
itself. No new drug to treat lupus has been created in 50 years, yet 2 million people in America, and 5 million people worldwide are suffering from this
disease ("Lupus: Causes, diagnosis, symptoms and treatment"). I believe that more research should be done to eventually find a cure for lupus. Lupus

your symptoms. However no "magic medicine" will rid your body completely of this disease. Today, a new drug called Belimumab is in a clinical trial
to treat lupus. It needs the approval of the FDA for release to the wide population of lupus patients. If this drug is approved, it will be the first new drug
on the market to treat lupus in fifty years. Hopefully, since some research on lupus is being done, more medicines will be found, and more people

Reflection On Reflection
My reflection will consist of three focuses such as, reflections on personal growth, areas of improvement. comparison of essays. I will be discussing
some of the elements that I started to learn through the class. My personal growth as well as starting factors in my learning abilities. The question of my
writing involvement will be entered this discussion as well.
First, my Cornell notes weren't very directly to the main idea. For example, in my Cornell note 01 on October 05, you can see my questions are very
short with minimal answers. However, in my Cornell note 04 on Oct 26, you can see my questions start to become more precise and to the point. As
time went on in this course, my writing style changed to organizing my thoughts by following directions closely.
Secondly, I would do less highlighting by miss the main idea for the book. I would put stars next to conversations as well as highlight key factors such
as dates, landmarks, followed by the names of the main characters in my annotations. I would observe and analyze the focus of the book, "Refuge". The
words from the book, "Refuge" are higher level than what I currently read.
However, starting this book has made me realize that I can learn new words. My grammar and vocabulary had become stronger by my involvement in
this class. For example, my vocabulary 01 on Oct 4th, I quote, "When I seen the word precipitation when I would check the weather I didn't know what
the weatherman was saying as far as the rain or

The Crusade For Reconstruction ( Jihad )
The organization was to take charge of the assets of the Pahlavi Foundation and to use the proceeds to assist low–income groups. The new foundation
in time came to be one of the largest conglomerates in the country, controlling hundreds of confiscated and nationalized factories, trading firms, farms,
and apartment and office buildings, as well as two large newspaper chains. The Crusade for Reconstruction (Jihad), established in June, recruited young
people for construction of clinics, local roads, schools, and similar facilities in villages and rural areas. The organization also grew rapidly, assuming
functions in rural areas that had previously been handled by the Planning and Budget Organization (which replaced the Plan Organization in ... Show

Because Arab states, including Iraq, had in the past laid claim to Khuzestan as part of the Arab homeland, the government was bound to regard an
indigenous movement among the Arabic–speaking population with suspicion. The government also suspected that scattered instances of sabotage in the
oil fields were occurring with Iraqi connivance. In May 1979, government forces responded to these disturbances by firing on Arab demonstrators in
Khorramshahr.
Several demonstrators were killed; others were shot on orders of the local revolutionary court. The government subsequently quietly transferred the
religious leader of the Khuzestan Arabs, Ayatollah Mohammad Taher Shubayr al Khaqani, to Qom, where he was kept under house arrest. These
measures ended further protests.
The Kurdish uprising proved more deep–rooted, serious, and durable. The Kurdish leaders were disappointed that the Revolution had not brought them
the local autonomy they had long desired. Scattered fighting began in March 1979 between government and Kurdish forces and continued after a brief
cease–fire; attempts at negotiation proved abortive. One faction, led by Ahmad Muftizadeh, the Friday prayer leader in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdish
culture, was ready to accept the limited concessions offered by the government.
The Kurdish Democratic Party, a more radical group issued demands that the authorities in Tehran did not feel they could accept.
These included the enlargement of the

Hampton Machine Tool Essay
Hampton Machine Tool Company, a machine tool manufacturer, was founded in 1915. Hampton's customer base is made up primarily of military
aircraft manufactures and automobile manufactures in the St. Louis area. Hampton felt the boom in the 1960s with record setting profits in the mid to
late 1960s. Hampton slowed down in the 1970s with the withdrawal from Vietnam War and the oil embargo. Hampton stabilized by the late 1970s and
now has a larger market share as other competitors were unable to make it through the tough times. It is now September 14, 1979 Hampton has asked
for an extension to the end December 1979 on the $1 million loan they took out from the St. Louis National Bank at the end of December 1978. The
loan was originally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not paying the dividends is the number one thing Hampton must remove from their current cash budget plan.
They can start to repay some of the principle as soon as possible to reduce the interest payments. This will help reduce the amount of interest paid in
total (Exhibit 2). While this solution does not eliminate the problem of still being unable to repay the full loan, they are able to lessen their cash
shortage. The assumptions I used for this budget was that approximately $500,000 on hand is all they will need from month to month. I also assumed
the $500,000 on hand is not earning interest which would also help generate cash which would help in repayment. The ending cash on hand for October
is $710,000 to help cover for November which has a larger amount of cash outflows then cash inflows. This on it's own would bring their cash shortage
to $319,500 a savings of $12,000. Still this along with the removal of the $150,000 in dividends will still not eliminate their cash shortage. With the two
combined, they still will have a shortage of $169,500. (Exhibit 3)
They can extend the repayment to the future when it will be possible for them to be repaid. I have worked a cash budget out into January of 1980 when
they will be able to collect the cash from the large number of orders they expect to finish in December. I made the assumption that the proceeds from a
sale would not be collected until next month since their sales terms are net 30 and most

Commonwealth Stadium Group Project W15
The Bolton Construction Company is preparing a bid to build the new 56,000 seat Commonwealth Stadium in Toronto. The construction must start

At a recent management meeting Charlie Musselman, the president of the company, expressed optimism at winning the contract and revealed that the

there are quite a few major stadiums in Canada that will need replacing in the next 25 years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1979 Education

  • 1. 1979 Education Education policy has developed in the UK since the Thatcher period because when Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister, the governance of education was largely unchanged since the first world war. In schools, there was no national curriculum, no parental choice, no systematic means of monitoring performance, no publication of examination results beyond what schools themselves chose to reveal. Local authorities drew up catchment areas, and they decided which children went to which school, and distributed funds, specifying what should be spent on teachers' salaries, repairs, books and other items. (Wilby, 2013) But, in the UK during the Thatcher period, there were many education policies that were introduced. These include; 1979 Education Act, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both have a national curriculum and students have to adhere to uniform in both countries. Education is compulsory in both countries, although the age at which they have to attend is different. Also, students have to pass examination(s) in both the UK and India to get into higher education. The differences are the quality in the education provided. In India, due to mass amount of students and the lack of funds then students have to be taught in large classrooms where students cannot generally get the support if they need it, but in the UK they only have class sizes of 30 or less and this ensures students can get the support if they need it, and staff are aware if a student is ... Hampton Machine Tool Hampton Machine Tool Company –Case Write–up Summary: On September 12, 1979, Hampton Machine Tool Company requested from St. Louis National Bank a renewal to their loan of $1,000,000 due to be repaid on September 30, 1979 and also to be given an additional loan of $350,000 for new equipment purchases in October 1979. Both loans were to be repaid on December 31, 1979. Hampton M.T. Company wrote a letter to the St. Louis National Bank stating the reasons for the extension of the loan and the need of the additional loan, and giving the current and the predicted future financial position of the company. The cash budget only includes the cash the company has at the start of the business as well as items that they will be paying for in cash. On the other hand, a pro forma income statement takes into account projected revenues from sales. Projected sales minus cost of goods sold as well as other expenses tell the net income. The pro forma income statement, in the end, gives projected profit, whereas the cash budget sheet in the end informs whether or not the business will be lacking cash to operate. In Hampton Machine Tool, the December ending cash balance is not equal to the projected revenues from sales. This means that HMTC is projected to lose cash and will need that much cash in order to continue operating. That's why HTMC requested the additional loan from the bank 5–Critically evaluate the assumptions on which your forecasts are based. What developments could alter the results? Is Mr. Cowins correct in his belief that Hampton can repay its loan in December? It is important to explain some of the assumptions made in the pro forma statement, as they play a critical part in determining the forecasted revenues. Cost of sales was determined by the equation purchases + other outlays – change in inventory, other outlays = cost of sales. The causative strains appeared to have features from two different E. coli pathotypes of enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC) and shiga–toxin–producing E. coli (STEC) called enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) (Bloch, Felczykowska and Nejman–Faleńczyk 2012). The main effect from this strain causes major incident of gastroenteritis and unusual develop of haemolytic–uremic syndrome (HUS) among the affected patients (Rasko et al 2011). HUS often described as group of disease of haemolytic anaemia, acute renal failure and thrombocytopenia (Schifferli eta al 2009). And it is known to be the result of infection by pathogens that produce shiga–toxin (Walker, Applegate and Black 2012). This particular strain possessed several identical characteristics with some older STEC cases but with different serotypes such as E. coli O105:H7, O121:H19 and O111:H8 (Scheutz et. al 2011). At the end of the outbreak, nearly 3500 cases of EHEC were recorded with 850 patients experience the progression to HUS and 82 deaths (RKI 2011). On 1st May, hospital in Germany received patient with gastroenteritis symptoms and believed to be the first case that linked with the outbreak (Altmann et al 2011). Outsourcing means just what it says – going "out" to find a "source" to undertake the work. The most obvious advantage of outsourcing appeared to be the cost savings that would come with not having to purchase additional equipment or work space and not having to add to the employee headcount. However, it was noted that some organisations are now doing more themselves in order to develop or preserve their expertise and self–sufficiency. Paired Comparisons Table. • 21. Separation Exists Between Society And The Penal System Separation exists between society and the penal system, and due to this, there is a grave lack of knowledge of what is happening behind bars and how we can improve the situation we have currently in regards to the prison system. There are major flaws that exist within the penal system, and Angela Davis highlighted the main one of secrecy. We know based off of research that our prison population commonly consists of individuals who struggle academically (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32). Because of this lack of a strong education, they may not possess basic skills like reading, with about 20 % performing at an illiterate level within state facilities (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32), which prisons are not going around glorifying. Another sort of hidden and degrading factor that Davis does not directly mention is the use of solitary confinement. We learned from Maggie's presentation the harmful mental health effects on those whom are placed in solitary confinement (December 1, presentations). While in solitary confinement, inmates are hidden away in "a place of punishment within a place of punishment" (Conover, 2001, pg 126), while being degraded with neither little to no time outside, nor any human interaction (Conover, 2001, pg 127). It's disturbing that it was not intended as a form of punishment, yet is used as one now (October 22, film). During the History of Prisons film we watched, they explained the use of solitary confinement for reflection purposes (October 22, film). There has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A savings account is a safe nonvolatile place to have the money and it is instantly accessible to Hampton. They should also change their billing policy to help finance the projects. • 33. Hampton Machine Tool Company Hampton Machine Tool Company 1. Why can't a profitable firm like Hampton repay its loan on time and why does it need more bank financing? What major developments between November 1978 and August 1979 contributed to this situation? A/ Hampton Machine Tool Company was unable to repay its loan on time due to several factors. One of such factors is the fact that the stock repurchase, for which the loan was initially requested, was a major cash disbursement of $3 million. In the period between November 1978 and August 1979, stock repurchase represented 58% of total expenditures for that period, while inventory purchases represented 42% of total expenditures. There were some developments that also contributed to this situation. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main reasons for this negative cash balance may be that Hampton is experiencing liquidity problems, that is, they are not generating enough cash to pay for their current expenses. Another factor that may contribute to such phenomenon is the delays in production that Hampton has had because suppliers have not delivered the raw materials. The inventory conversion period is greater than what Hampton can finance because the cash conversion cycle is even greater than collections from customers. 4. Critically evaluate the assumptions on which your forecasts are based. What developments could alter your results? Is Mr. Cowins correct in his belief that Hampton can repay the loan in December? Some of the assumptions include: One assumption that should be clearly analyzed is that the collection period is of 30 days net. Not always customers have the ability and willingness to pay off their debts in 30 days, some may take more time, and some could incur in bad debt. Another assumption Hampton is making is that the company will be able to pay off debts in 30 days. There is no 100% certainty this will happen. The assumption that accruals and prepaid expenses will remain fairly stable and constant should be analyzed more clearly, because this is not always the case. Another assumption is that the shipments are going to be made exactly as they forecasted. It is important to note that in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The City of Arlington provided over $325 million (including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, following its policy for facilitating financing for the construction of new stadiums," (Page 1). –Strengths and Weaknesses– A key strength that the Cowboys franchise holds is the obvious tradition of winning and success on the football field. As mentioned before, the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl titles and that gives the team a legendary aura every time they step out on the field. This allows their fan base to be very large, consistent and proud to be part of the franchise. Along with that strength though, comes a weakness. The history of the Cowboys is a history of excellence and winning which is hard to hold and be consistent with in the NFL. Introduction: In this assignment I will explain the implied terms under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 ss12–14 inclusive and analyse the effectiveness and application of these sections. Furthermore I will use relevant case law and academic research to support my arguments. The implied conditions which was originally introduced by Sales Of Goods Act 1893 but can now be found in Sections 12–15 of the Sales of Goods Act 1979. Contracts for Sales Of Goods are governed by the Sales of Goods Act 1979, not just the consumer contracts, therefore this act has been amended by the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002, which implemented Directive 1999/44. The Sales Of Goods Act 1979 is crucial for consumers as it refers to laws that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The SGR's are there for consumers who are entitled to goods of satisfactory quality, taking account of any description, the price and other circumstances. Therefore if there is an item that has a fault that is present at the time of sale, the consumer can complain once it has been discovered. Hence the aim for this Directive is to encourage people to shop across borders, knowing they have protection if anything is wrong with the products they buy. Section 12 [1] The Right to Sell: S.B. Marsh and J. Soulsby (2002,pp. 180–181) mentions that " an implied term on the part of the seller in the case of a sale, he has the right to sell the goods, and in the case of an agreement to sell, he will have such a right at the when the property is to pass" . S.12 (1) implies a term that the seller has the right to sell the goods. This covers situations where the seller is selling stolen goods. This is known as condition. Moreover a buyer who treats the contract as repudiated is entitled to return of the full purchase price even if they have enjoyed use of the goods for some time. We can see an example in the following case, In Rowland v Divall [1923] , it was held that the defendant did not have the right to sell the goods, as he did not obtain good title from the thief. Ownership remained with the original owner. However the defendant had 2 months use of the car, which he did not have to pay for, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Developing Competitive Advantage Advantages And Disadvantages F. Developing Competitive Advantages (refer to Exhibit 4.7) As previously stated, it is difficult to pinpoint a competitive advantage due to of the hyper competitive environment. Our strengths of the program are matched or exceeded by competitors. The areas we could potentially capitalize on are our academic rigor, our passionate staff in Southeast Online and the nursing department who provide excellent customer service, and the prevalence of nursing courses being taught by tenure track faculty. However, we aren't the only program that has passionate staff, that teaches using tenured faculty, and are academically rigorous. The only way to provide leverage is if we are able to be the best in one of these area's compared to our top regional competitors due to of the preference to attend within 100 miles from home. With all of our weaknesses and strengths identified, and considering that our students ranked helpfulness of staff higher than quality of the program, customer intimacy is our best chance of differentiating ourselves. There are multiple weaknesses that can be converted into strengths, however the ability to do that will take a substantial amount of time due to the culture. For example, time from application to enrollment. When a student applies to the university, we can't accept them until we have received all of their transcripts. The Court also stated that a claimant would have to demonstrate the bank had acted in bad faith before civil liability would be entertained. In its decision the Court of appeal did make reference to the dual pull on Banks in having to comply with the heavy demands of a regulator whilst mitigating civil actions from potentially disgruntled customers. It also made reference to a previous court case (De Silva v NatWest Bank 2006) where the court made specific reference to the meaning of the word 'suspect'. Here, in relations to the claim by Mr Shah that the reason for the suspicion itself was irrational, negligently self–induced and mistaken, the court confirmed that HSBC merely had to think that there was a possibility, which was more than fanciful, that the relevant facts exist when completing its SAR. On a wider note the Court also deemed that in the future having a suspicion may constitute a good defence for Banks. The subject of tipping off can be one of the most ambiguous subjects within financial organisations. • 53. Cyber-Terrorism Essay Cyber–Terrorism Cyber–Terrorism is a reality in the modern age of rapid technological advancement. As fast as new technology is established, people find ways to hack and corrupt it. Many times there is malicious intent behind such actions. These acts can include everything from computer viruses to contraband network servers to pirated IP addresses and credit account fraud. All of the stories we hear and those annoying emails that warn of a multitude of viruses can lull us into complacency when none of them come to fruition. Such a virus could go undetected for hours, days or months as it worked its way throughout a particular system and then strike at a pre–selected time. For the entire computer operated portions of American society this is a threat, this extends from mass transit to police and bank records and correctional facilities. Massive destruction both physical and theoretic could easily occur and quite frankly September 11th could be seen as precursor to the uniform and grave situation systematic mainframe crashes would cause. This would be a case of international espionage and would be a drastic move from the normal programs the tech security groups deal with on a daily basis. This type of attack could slide under existing defense and not be identified until it was too late thus rendering the attempts to defend helpless. A comparison would be the 9/11 attacks and how they were almost indefensible because of the suicide bomber mentality of the attackers. Similarly, the new age Cyber–Terrorists would not want the viruses to be detected and have no desire to impress their peers as is the case with their traditional counterparts. Since this is a new type of cyber warfare, there is no consensus on how to deal with theses issues. Lupus Informative Speech Grace Spottswood, 1–30–15, Watermelon Lupus: Imagine skiing down the slopes and watching all of the happy people enjoying their ski trip, and wondering, why do I feel so sick? Imagine going to countless doctors' appointments, and being treated for anxiety and facial migraines. No one believes your symptoms are real, but you know something isn't right. After five years of suffering, you are finally diagnosed with an incurable disease. Somehow you feel relief. This mystery disease is called lupus, an autoimmune disease which makes the body unable to tell healthy tissue from unhealthy tissue. The body then attacks the healthy tissue to get rid of what it believes is unhealthy tissue, this mistake causes the body to inflict pain on itself. No new drug to treat lupus has been created in 50 years, yet 2 million people in America, and 5 million people worldwide are suffering from this disease ("Lupus: Causes, diagnosis, symptoms and treatment"). I will be discussing some of the elements that I started to learn through the class. My personal growth as well as starting factors in my learning abilities. The question of my writing involvement will be entered this discussion as well. First, my Cornell notes weren't very directly to the main idea. For example, in my Cornell note 01 on October 05, you can see my questions are very short with minimal answers. However, in my Cornell note 04 on Oct 26, you can see my questions start to become more precise and to the point. As time went on in this course, my writing style changed to organizing my thoughts by following directions closely. Secondly, I would do less highlighting by miss the main idea for the book. I would put stars next to conversations as well as highlight key factors such as dates, landmarks, followed by the names of the main characters in my annotations. I would observe and analyze the focus of the book, "Refuge". The words from the book, "Refuge" are higher level than what I currently read. However, starting this book has made me realize that I can learn new words. My grammar and vocabulary had become stronger by my involvement in this class. For example, my vocabulary 01 on Oct 4th, I quote, "When I seen the word precipitation when I would check the weather I didn't know what the weatherman was saying as far as the rain or ... The new foundation in time came to be one of the largest conglomerates in the country, controlling hundreds of confiscated and nationalized factories, trading firms, farms, and apartment and office buildings, as well as two large newspaper chains. The Crusade for Reconstruction (Jihad), established in June, recruited young people for construction of clinics, local roads, schools, and similar facilities in villages and rural areas. The organization also grew rapidly, assuming functions in rural areas that had previously been handled by the Planning and Budget Organization (which replaced the Plan Organization in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Arab states, including Iraq, had in the past laid claim to Khuzestan as part of the Arab homeland, the government was bound to regard an indigenous movement among the Arabic–speaking population with suspicion. The government also suspected that scattered instances of sabotage in the oil fields were occurring with Iraqi connivance. In May 1979, government forces responded to these disturbances by firing on Arab demonstrators in Khorramshahr. Several demonstrators were killed; others were shot on orders of the local revolutionary court. The government subsequently quietly transferred the religious leader of the Khuzestan Arabs, Ayatollah Mohammad Taher Shubayr al Khaqani, to Qom, where he was kept under house arrest. These measures ended further protests. The Kurdish uprising proved more deep–rooted, serious, and durable. The Kurdish leaders were disappointed that the Revolution had not brought them the local autonomy they had long desired. Scattered fighting began in March 1979 between government and Kurdish forces and continued after a brief cease–fire; attempts at negotiation proved abortive. One faction, led by Ahmad Muftizadeh, the Friday prayer leader in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdish culture, was ready to accept the limited concessions offered by the government. The Kurdish Democratic Party, a more radical group issued demands that the authorities in Tehran did not feel they could accept. These included the enlargement of the ... • 73. Hampton Machine Tool Essay Hampton Machine Tool Company, a machine tool manufacturer, was founded in 1915. Hampton's customer base is made up primarily of military aircraft manufactures and automobile manufactures in the St. Louis area. Hampton felt the boom in the 1960s with record setting profits in the mid to late 1960s. Hampton slowed down in the 1970s with the withdrawal from Vietnam War and the oil embargo. Hampton stabilized by the late 1970s and now has a larger market share as other competitors were unable to make it through the tough times. It is now September 14, 1979 Hampton has asked for an extension to the end December 1979 on the $1 million loan they took out from the St. Louis National Bank at the end of December 1978. The loan was originally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not paying the dividends is the number one thing Hampton must remove from their current cash budget plan. They can start to repay some of the principle as soon as possible to reduce the interest payments. This will help reduce the amount of interest paid in total (Exhibit 2). While this solution does not eliminate the problem of still being unable to repay the full loan, they are able to lessen their cash shortage. The assumptions I used for this budget was that approximately $500,000 on hand is all they will need from month to month. I also assumed the $500,000 on hand is not earning interest which would also help generate cash which would help in repayment. The ending cash on hand for October is $710,000 to help cover for November which has a larger amount of cash outflows then cash inflows. This on it's own would bring their cash shortage to $319,500 a savings of $12,000. Still this along with the removal of the $150,000 in dividends will still not eliminate their cash shortage. With the two combined, they still will have a shortage of $169,500. (Exhibit 3) They can extend the repayment to the future when it will be possible for them to be repaid. I have worked a cash budget out into January of 1980 when they will be able to collect the cash from the large number of orders they expect to finish in December. I made the assumption that the proceeds from a sale would not be collected until next month since their sales terms are net 30 and most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
