QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS
1. QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS
This is a presentation of results which I gained from the Survey Monkey website. I
obtained these results by making the questionnaire open meaning that anyone could access
it. This made my sample more representable as it allowed me to gather feed back from
people at different age groups. Besides, I send the link via email in order to gain more
results. Additionally, I will be comparing my results gained within the printed version
of the questionnaire which I am going to present using Edexcel graphs.

2. In the first question I identified the gender of the respondents. Within the online questionnaire there was an equal amount of males as well as females. I
think this is very important as the results became less biased and more reliable. Comparing to my printed version of the questionnaire the results were
also very similar. I gathered 6 female and 5 male responds. The results showed a ratio of 10:11. Overall, I gathered 21 responses.

3. In the second question I focused on gathering age data of the respondents. The online questionnaire results are clearly dominated by people aged 17 or younger and only 20% of people
aged 18 to 20. This is clearly because I didn't have enough time to obtain random answers from the open profile as it would take more time. This would affect my time management plan.
Furthermore, the results are dominated by people aged 17 or below because I send the link via email to my college colleagues. Comparing to the printed questionnaire, I gathered a
larger range of age groups which mostly focused on 18 to 20 years old but also some 21 to 29. Furthermore, I found the age group responds quite important as I wanted to specify my
target audience for the music magazine on these results. To conclude, I am planning to focus on the age group 18+.

4. Through this question I was hoping to find out how often the respondents purchase magazines. I find this question quite important because I think that a person who is continuously
purchasing magazines has a better knowledge about the development of press and their techniques. Then the audience is able to say what are the effective features within the magazine
and what they like or dislike. From my results I can infer that many respondents hardly ever purchase magazines. This can be significantly seen within my printed version of the
questionnaire where the answers were dominated by 'never' and only 20% answered 'every so often'. However, the online results showed that 20% of the respondents purchases the
magazines monthly, although 40 % every so often or never. This might affect my further responses within the questions based on the magazines features.

5. This question allowed me to find out what people want to see within a magazine. These answers will also help me to structure the features for my contents page as I will
know what I can offer to make it interesting for the readers. The online questionnaire results showed that 70% is interested in interviews, 50% in album reviews, 40 % in
upcoming gigs and 30% in free samples & gifts and competitions. I found almost identical results within the printed version of the questionnaire, except the upcoming gigs
which were also the most common answer. These answers will help me to also structure the main stories and headlines as now I know what the readers are looking for.

6. The aim of this question was to find out about the most popular and liked genres of music as I still haven't decided which one I am going to be focusing on. Within the online
questionnaire the results showed that 40% of respondents is interested in Rap, while 30 % is interested in Pop, while Reggae, Rock and Classical music were only 10 %
each. The top two genres were also dominant within the printed version of the questionnaire. However, I am more likely to focus on the pop music genre as I haven't looked
at any of the hip hop magazines and if I would want to focus on this specific genre I would have to develop my research. This would influence my time management.

7. I also wanted to find out whether the audience would want to read about unknown / unsigned artists. Within both online and print questionnaires the results were balanced.
This makes it hard for me to decide whether I am going to include information about 'unknown' artists or not. This is something I might consider if I will have any extra space
for additional features within my music magazine, specifically contents page.

8. Another important aspect of the magazine is the price. My aim was to find out how much people are willing to pay for the magazine. The results within both print and online
version of the questionnaire showed that people are not willing to pay more than £3.99 and the best price average reaches up to £2.00. This is something I will consider
while thinking about a price for my own magazine to make it as much appealing for the audience as possible.

9. My next aim was to find out a bit more about the front cover of the magazine and the important elements of it. The answers showed me that the respondent's attention is focused on the
main image which has to be eye catching and interesting. The next feature is the idea of a famous artist placed within the front cover. This is something I might not be able to do as I am
unable to take primary images of famous artists suitable for a front cover. However, the next elements within both print and online version of the questionnaire are colours and layout which
are also seen as important.

10. The last question was based on the idea of selling the product and making it even more appealing to the audience. I specifically asked about a free gift as this marketing technique is seen
within music magazines in a form of a free CD or s poster. The results showed that the audience is mostly not sure whether a free gift would encourage them to purchase a magazine.
However, the print version of the questionnaire was mostly dominated by answer 'Yes'. This is something I will consider while constructing the front cover of the magazine as I could use
puffs which would include information about the free gifts to attract audiences attention even further.

11. CONCLUSIONIn conclusion, the questionnaire helped me to make a variety of different decisions which will make my further planning for music magazine much
easier. I’ve decided to combine males and females as my target audience as the responses within my questionnaire were significantly similar. In
terms of the age group I will definitely focus on people aged 18+. This is supported by my results which where mostly dominated by 18-20 years
old respondents. Furthermore, I was thinking about creating a magazine based on a Hip- Hop genre, however I haven’t analysed or looked at any
of the magazines based on this genre. This is why I’ve decided to create a Pop music magazine as I can gain and look at useful information from
my research. This includes the magazine ‘Q’. Moreover, I was thinking about how much people are willing to pay for a magazine. My results
showed me that the average price of the magazine is £2.00 as people are not willing to pay more than £3.99. This will help me to come up with
my own price based on these results.
Moreover, within the front cover of the magazine I am planning to focus on features such as ; main image, layout and colour to make it as much
appealing to the audience as possible. Whereas, within the magazine contents page as well as the front cover headlines I will be focusing on
introducing different interviews, reviews, information about upcoming gigs, gifts and competitions as these are the features which the audience
wants to see within the music based magazine. The responds also suggested that the audience wants to see a famous artist within the front cover
of the magazine. However, I’m unable to capture a primary image of a famous artist. This is why I’ve decided to use famous pop artists names
within the headlines and features to attract audiences attention. I am also considering writing about ‘new’ / ‘unsigned’ artists if I will have any extra
space within the contents page. This is because the audiences responses were balanced. Within the front cover of the magazine I will also use a
puff to highlight the ‘free gift’ sample (as a marketing technique) which might encourage the audience to purchase the magazine.
