2. TOPIC OUTLINE
The Student
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Learning Through EdTech 1 and
EdTech 2
The Student after EdTech
3. THE STUDENT
I am Rogelia
Danica B. Español.
I was born on
November 24,
1995. I am 20 years
old. Currently
residing at
Ginablan, Badian,
Cebu
4. I’m a third year student
taking up Bachelor of
Secondary Education
Major in Industrial
Technology at Cebu
Technological
University- Moalboal
Campus.
6. INTRODUCTION
Technology can be fascinating and mind-
boggling in what it can do. It can bring distant
places and people together, establishing
invisible but powerful connections. It can
transform societies, economies and cultures by
opening them up to other ideas and other
options, raising new expectations and creating
new needs. It can release and rechannel
previously unknown or wasted energies into
more productive endeavors, allowing its users to
pursue more creative goals.
7. WHAT IS EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY?
Educational technology is a “complex,
integrated process involving people,
procedures, ideas, devices and organization
for analyzing problems and devising,
implementing, evaluating and managing
solutions to those problems involved in all
aspects of human learning.”
8. Educational technology is a profession like
teaching.
Educational technology consists of the
designs and environments that engage
learners.
Educational technology is a theory about
how problems in human learning are
identified and solved.
9. Educational technology is a field study which
is concerned with the practice of using
educational methods and resources for the
ultimate goal of facilitating the learning
process.
Educational technology is a field involved in
applying a complex, integrated process to
analyze and solve problems in human
learning.
10. TECHNOLOGY: BOON OR BANE?
“TECHNOLOGY IS IN OUR HANDS. WE CAN USE IT TO BUILD OR
DESTROY”.
After understanding what educational
technology is all about, it may be good to
reflect on whether this thing called
technology is a boon or bane to education, a
blessing or a curse to education.
11. TECHNOLOGY IS BOON TECHNOLOGY IS BANE
it benefits human beings in
many areas such as work,
communication, health and
leisure
it can makes us feel
comfortable and make things
go faster
make our daily lives become
convenience
you will be closer to someone
miles and miles away when it
comes in communicating, etc.
made humans to reliant on
them
can harm the environment
to a certain extent as they
all need power to operate
radiation will harm people
can make user’s mind lazy,
etc.
12. Technology can be a good or bad
depending on the user. Whether technology
is a boon is bane, we have got to admit that
the world is going into a technology world
where everything you do is related to
technology.
Specifically, technology is a blessing for
man. With technology, there is a lot that we
can do which we could not do then.
13. THE RISE OF COMPUTER
Through computer technology, educators
saw the amplification of learning along
computer literacy.
14. Like reading, they can now interact with
computer messages.
Like writing, they can form messages using
computer language.
16. Information – The reception of knowledge
or intelligence
Communication – Act of transmitting or
spreading something between individuals.
Technology – A manner of accomplishing
task using technical or digital process.
17. ICT: AN ACCESS TO
EDUCATION
ICTs make possible asynchronous
learning.
Teachers and learners no longer have to
rely on printed books and other materials in
physical media.
- motivating to learn
- facilitating the acquisitions of basic skills
- enhancing teacher training
18. THE COMPUTER AS A TUTOR
The computer is one of the wonders of
human ingenuity.
Computer can be a tutor in a way that it can be
used in facilitate the learning process of the
student. Student can follow easily the flow of
the discussion of a teacher when they are using
computer/technologies.
The computer is just a guide for the student to
be more knowledgeable in a specific topic.
19. COMPUTER AS A TEACHER’S TOOL
The teacher must:
Ensure that students have the needed
knowledge and skills for any computer
activity.
20. The computer can provide access information,
foster creative social knowledge building , and
enhance the communication. Also it can help the
teachers and students to focus on more high level
cognitive tasks.
21. THE COMPUTER PLAYS ITS ROLES AS IT:
Acts as a sort of tutor
Provides a learning environment
Delivers learning instruction
Reinforces learning through drill and practice
Provides feedback
23. The Educational Technology 1 has truly
paved the way for the learner to become
aware, appreciative and equipped to use
educational technology 1 tools ranging
from traditional to modern educational
media. In EdTech 1, the learner was also
oriented towards averting the dangers of
dehumanization which technology brings
into societies.
24. EDTECH 1 SHOWED THE FOUR PHASES OF
APPLICATION OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN
TEACHIN-AND-LEARNING, NAMELY:
a) setting of learning objectives
b) designing specific learning experiences
c) Evaluating the effectiveness of the
learning experiences, and
d) Revision as needed of the whole
teaching-learning process, or elements
of it, for further improving future
instructional activities.
25. Educational Technology 2 is concerned
with “Integrating Technology into Teaching and
Learning.” Specifically this is focused on
introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and
extending the knowledge and skills to learners
so that they can become exemplary users of
educational technology.
Necessarily, EdTech2 involved a deeper
understanding of the computer as well as
hands-on application of computer skills.
26.
27. The learner would be oriented to
pervasiveness of educational technology in
society.
Students can lend familiarization on how
educational technology can be utilized as
media for the avenues teaching-learning
process in the school.
Learners can uplift to human learning
through the use of learning technology.
28. Students can impart skills in planning,
designing, using and evaluating the
technology-enriched learning process.
Students learn to use and evaluate
computer-based educational resources.
29. The student is actively making choices about
how to generate, obtain, manipulate, or display
information. Technology use allows many more
students to be actively thinking about
information, making choices, and executing
skills than is typical in teacher-led lessons.
Moreover, when technology is used as a tool
to support students in performing authentic
tasks, the students are in the position of defining
their goals, making design decisions, and
evaluating their progress.
30. It may be said, too, that the study of EdTech
on integrating Information Technology in
instruction should not be considered as a
formidable task, but rather as a refreshing
and exciting study given the idea that all
learning should be fun.
