In the digital world, the concept of direct marketing (especially direct mail) seems novel. Personally,
I love to receive direct marketing messages tailored to my interests such as Ulta Beauty emailing

advertisements, and direct mail scored well in the somewhat positive to extremely positive
consumer category. Compared to Facebook advertisements, television commercials and sponsored
LinkedIn posts that ranked as extremely negative to somewhat negative. This data shows that
consumers enjoy the direct marketing experience more that what they are receiving online or on

It is not hard to prove that an object belongs to its rightful owner, and therefore, it is not much more

information has changed the way the current society and how people's everyday lives work. It has

the world today may seem new and unique, this digital world arose out of a combination of many

Simon Cook, an Economics professor at Duke University, have developed of a history of what lead

Manovich and Cook created a strong structure for a digital history, however, the two failed to make
note of a few critical aspects that compliment and add more depth to this history. Both scholars
place too much emphasis on setting a specific beginning to this history. Manovich and Cook, also,
fail to incorporate the work of Charles Dogson, otherwise known as Lewis Carroll, into the late–
Victorian history, and fail to note the importance of technological developments in creation of the
modern digital world.
Finding the actual beginning of the digital history might not be possible and unnecessarily weakens
the narrative. Lev Manovich believes that this history behind the digital world of today began with
developments in the late–Victorian time period. Cook refutes this belief and notes that the major
contributors to late Victorian visual reasoning called upon the influence of already existing
mathematics to develop their charts and graphs. The late Victorian time period, however, remains
the initial time period where these influences related to the history of the creation of the digital
world of today (Cook 6–7). While Cook may be correct in making such an argument, Cook's attempt
to clarify Manovich's claim creates more confusion about when the start of this change began.

lifelong learners. Digital technologies are very important to our student's world as they use them to
connect with each other, learn new skills and pursue their interest. Luckey (2009) stated "For
students in particular, technology is almost an extension of themselves. They use it to communicate,
to discover the world, to play games, to collaborate, to create things, to write, to read, and to
organize their lives. Nothing can be more foreign to them than school without technology or where
technology is relegated to its own special place." Mobile devices with the power of digital
technology are being placed in every student's hand in schools around the world which equips them

Digital etiquette is a modern variation of the old adage "treat others the way you want to be treated"
(Behrens, n.d.) . This is an important yet difficult lesson to teach children in the digital age because
they spend less time participating in face–to–face encounters and more time behind a screen. In fact
children ages 8–18 spend approximately 7.5 hours using technology and social media (New
