How Did Michael Jordan A Game Changer
Throughout the years, basketball has evolved into a thrilling sport enjoyed by millions worldwide. In 1891 Dr. James Naismith invented a physical
activity that would eventually develop into the billion–dollar industry it is today. Basketball started out on the streets of cities like New York and
Chicago. As the sport became more popular, entrepreneurs saw it as a business opportunity and created the NationalBasketball Association on July 6,
1946. In its early days, towering players like Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell dominated professional basketball. Centers were the focal point of
basketball between 1946 and 1966. These players would bully shorter opponents with sheer height. Coaches often made players pass the ball to the
center most of the game. This was a very common style of basketball in the early days. Building the team around its center position player was
common until the 1967–1968 season when the NBA introduced the three–point line. The three–point line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jordan dominated the NBA with a style of play never seen on the hardwood court. Michael Jordan once said "You have to do things for yourself
before they become a reality." What he actually meant is that he was going to change the game in many ways. Jordan was a game changer because
of his explosive moves to the basket, impressive handling of the ball, outstanding shooting, and a great post up game. All of which were captivating to
watch guard players do. He demonstrated why skill was more important than height. The effect of Jordan's game was so brilliant that the NBA
changed its rules to make the games more exciting. This led to high scoring games featuring relentless attacks to the rim and spectacular dunks that
Jordan popularized. The NBA even changed the length of shorts players wore. Jordan forever changed the game of basketball with his unmatched skills
and on–court competitiveness that influenced the style of play seen in modern–day NBA

Why I Want To Go To A Gym
Everyone has their own little spot to escape from the world to feel relief and relaxation. They often go there when they need peace and quiet, or to
think about things. The place I go to do this is the basketball court. Basketball has always been my favorite sport and ever since I was a little boy, I
can reminisce about the hype of watching the Boston Celtics in the living room with my father. When I was in 6th grade, I remember him saying he
had a surprise for me after returning home from school. "Ty, want to go to a Celtics game this Friday?" my eyes immediately widened with eagerness
and excitement. The day I stepped foot into TD Garden, everything else in the world that mattered seemed to disappear, it seemed to me be the greatest

When I lace up my shoes and step foot onto the court –– all of life's problems and struggles just vanish, never coming to mind while playing on the
hardwood. Nothing can stop me; because I am in my territory, my sanctuary. The game and the court; they are my canvas, and I am Picasso, the
game is an art and every time I step into the gym are efforts to create a masterpiece. I feel as if I am in complete control, like a maestro conducting
his symphony and everything I do is nothing but sweet music with the perfect melody and flow. Every move I make, every decision I make, every
shot I take is vital to the performance of my team –– with nothing less than a hundred percent effort in mind. I feel as free as bird, soaring through the
open air, flying for the first time in the clouds, free. The game and the sound of the ball dribbling take away all the negativity I may be experiencing
and immediately replace it with optimism, leaving me in a state of complete serenity. Whenever I feel down I just pick up a ball and head to the gym
and my attitude is shifted to a sense of relief and joy. Having the blessed opportunity to play basketball has truly impacted the individual who I am

Basketball Is A Sport For The Campus Of Eastern Michigan...
Basketball is a sport that requires a lot of time and effort to be good at. It's a sport that keeps some people in shape, some people involved with a
community, and gives others an opportunity to meet new people. The recreation basketball community I am looking into is the one on the campus of
Eastern Michigan University (EMU). Every day there is a multitude of people playing basketball in either the Recreation Center (REC) or on the
courts outside of the student center. The people that make up this community are very diverse and most come from different backgrounds.
Because I know the recreational basketball community is very diverse and interactive, I wonder what brings people together and why basketball
is such an enticing sport. The purpose of this study is to see who plays basketball at the REC and then ask them why. People are playing basketball
in the community every day so I could gather a plethora of information. I am sure to find interesting results and answers to the questions I will be
asking the recreational basketball players at EMU. I have already met a lot of new people and made multiple new friends because of this
community and that is a reason that I want to study it and find out if other people view this community just like I do. To study this community I will
have to do some research online and also get information from primary sources like recreational basketball players that I see on the courts every day.
Over the course of a few weeks I am

More Like Myself: Basketball Court
The place I feel more like myself is on the basketball court. When I shoot the ball, or am chasing down for a steal, I can feel the adrenaline running
through my veins. I always play my best whenever I am on the court, doing my best to improve all my weaknesses. When I am alone I play just to
relieve stress and let it make me feel good about myself. There are different styles of basketball courts, backboards, and balls. I prefer a rubber court
because it is soft and very grippy. The backboards and rims may all look alike but they are different. Plexiglass are very great backboards toplay with. It
is hard to break and when it's broken it isn't that sharp. Rubber basketballs, leather, and synthetic leather are the different types of balls.

Spire Institute: Basketball Court Cases
Hit the market and start the campaign with a special offer well–advertised on digital and social media.
Introduce a 24–hour customer service telephone line through a channel outlet.
Public relations–An all–expense paid visit to the facility should be used to promote the facility to those who are selected by the recruiters as the
one who are serious of transferring, hence they can help sell the service to others. With such a start Spire Institute can build on attracting more prospects.
Basketball players will help recruit other players better than anyone else and this source shall be tapped.
A key area for Spire Institute is to target one or two national NBA players to work out in basketball. One of the basketball courts shall be
converted into a restricted private court and screened off, to facilitate this. Here again this should be widely advertised using digital and social media,
to promote these benefits.

Social Interactions And Its Effects On The Basketball Court
Felecia and Joseph both have numerous social interactions, not just as individuals, but as a couple as a tool. Joseph is often seen socializing amongst
his friends on the basketball courts. The conversations touch on everything from basketball, to school, and relationships. During his interactions with
his friends on the basketball court, he can at times be competitive, but that's just the nature of the game. If he ever loses there are moments when
he'll just storm off the court not shaking hands. His attitude can be taken to another level if he loses and performs poorly, whenever this occurs he
doesn't only storm off, but he also refuses to talk to anyone if he does the conversations tend to turn out aggressive with a lot of trash talk. When
things are going his way Josephs demeanor is calm, he engages well with his friends, and he always brings humor to the conversations, he tends to
take himself less seriously when his girlfriend is not around, and when he isn't losing games. Joseph is also a student giving him the chance to interact
with his classmates/teachers. There are moments when he doesn't have much to say unless he is talking with his friends, he is polite and very
respectful towards the teacher. Surprisingly, he always appeared to be more timid when he was in class compared to when he was on the basketball
courts.

Basketball, the sport where there are five players of each team on the court. The point of the game is you try to make the basketball, which bounces

How Did College Basketball Form And How Has It Changed...
How did college basketball form and how has it changed over the years? Basketball is one of the most watched or frequently played sport in
history, on top of soccer, football, or baseball. In this essay, I will answer the question, and tell about some important events in basketball history.
Basketball started in 1891. It has now grown into one of the most popular sports in history. Basketball was invented in December 1891 by
Canadian James W. Naismith. An instructor at the YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, he sought a suitable indoor game to keep his
students fit and warm during the cold New England winters. With wire mesh backboards. He formulated 13 rules, most of which still apply today.
In 1893, the first women's game was played at the Smith College, in Northampton, Massachusetts, USA. And soon to spread all over the world.
Rules of the game of basketball. Basketball is a team sport. Two teams of five players each try to score by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated
10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The court is divided into two
main sections by the mid–court line. If the offensive team puts the ball into play behind the mid–court line, it has ten seconds to get the ball over the
mid–court line. If it doesn 't, then the defense gets the ball. Once the offensive team gets the ball over the mid–court line, it can no longer have
possession of the ball in the area in back of the

Personal Narrative: Point Guard For The Golden State Warriors

that you do. You don't need to live someone else's story. It doesn't matter where you come from– what you have, or don't have, what you lack, what
you have too much of – but all you need to have is faith in God, an undying passion for what you do, or what you choose to do in this life, and a
relentless drive and the will to do whatever it takes to be successful in whatever you put your mind to." Growing up I have always played basketball. It
is like a haven for me considering whatever I am feeling, whether it is angry, somber, excited, etc. I can always play and depend on basketball. It
makes me feel exceptional.

Most of us have a place where we can go and be free and be ourselves with no implications. It is a place where we can just forget about the problems
of life, the problems of the world, and just feel true tranquility, pure freedom. I have a place like this, it is the basketball court. Just the sight of the
basketball court evokes countless emotions and feelings for me. There is not another place in the world where I feel as free and excited as I do on
the basketball court. When I step onto the court it is impossible for me to conjure a negative feeling within myself, I enter an endless state of euphoria
and self–confidence.
I feel the second I step onto the hardwood I immediately am filled with a sense of never ending joy, as if it was my first time setting foot in the

Earvin Johnson is Magic on the Basketball Court
Earvin "Magic" Johnson is known to be one of the greatest athletes on and off the court. This is showcased in his autobiography, My Life, which
follows Johnson's life mostly through the 80s and early 90s. The 1980s is known to many people as NBA's best decade. This era featured a
combination of the best style of basketball, as well as some of the greatest players of all time. Magic Johnson headlined this elite group of players.
Because of the immense amount of talent in the game at this time period, basketball was emerging as a big part of a lot of people's lives.
Basketball was growing in popularity and was becoming one of America's favorite sports to watch. Magic Johnson only made this sport that more
exciting. Also, in the late 80s and early 90s, the HIV virus was a topic of much uncertainty and fear to the world (Layman). Basketball served to be a
great source of entertainment to keep the disease off of people's minds, and to root for something. When Magic Johnson actually announced that he had
the virus, the world learned more about the disease and admired Johnson for his braveness. This incredible announcement showed the world that there
is hope for this terrible virus. Through this event, Johnson displayed what a great human being he really is. Magic Johnson is displayed to be this great
person, hard–working athlete, and very confident in his autobiography, My Life. Jonathan Rowe, a critic of the book, writes, "He came across as a

Basketball and Soccer
America is a country that loves sports. Two of America's most popular sports are basketball and soccer. Many children participate in the sports every
year. Similarities are abundant between the two. Both sports require team work. Also the main purpose of both is to put a ball into a netted goal.
However, there are some very important key differences. Soccer is played on a field that is much larger and there is a goalie that constantly defends
the goal. While basketball is played on a smaller hardwood court with fewer players active at once. Furthermore, soccer is low scoring and more
strategic when compared to basketball, which has final scores in the hundreds. All in all, many similarities there are huge differences between ... Show

King Of The Court : Bill Russell And The Basketball...
King of the Court: Bill Russell and the Basketball Revolution brings a fresh perspective to the life of one of the National Basketball Association's
most iconic and prominent players of all time. Bill Russell is known for his tenacious and innovative style of basketball play, but rarely does his
background get much attention. Aram Goudsouzian takes a detailed look into the life of 6'10" Bill Russell, making note of not only his authority on the
court, but also his background, culture, and attitude off the court. The book captures the influential upbringing William "Bill" Felton Russell had and
how the philosophies and culture he was immersed in shaped who he was. He grew up during the 1930s–1940s in West Monroe, Louisiana – a town
that, at the time, had minimal blacks living there. While the town itself was relatively peaceful in terms of racial tension, surrounding areas did not
adopt the same views. One day when Bill and his older brother Chuck were tossing pebbles at one another, a stray stone hit a passing car being
driven by a white man. The man called Bill a "nigger" and threatened to hang him. As Bill recalls, "I ran off, half angry, half laughing." This shows
the almost humorous perspective some blacks during this time had about the "white power." Often, there is a notion that blacks during the Jim Crow
era were in constant fear of whites. While this was true, some blacks, such as the Russell family, opposed, laughed, and scoffed at this idea. Katie

Basketball Court Persuasive Essay
Picture this on the basketball court and you are playing very good. Then it all turns bad. Your start making turnovers and messing up the plays. Then
the coach starts to yell at you instead of helping you. What do you do? This is why coaches need to stop screaming at their players and just help them.
These three reasons explain why they should stop. One reason is that some players have way more talent than others and coaches don't realize it.
Another reason is you can make relationships with your coaches but you can't since they are yelling at you. The third reason is their health because
coaches can hurt the players confidence and their self–esteem. This is why coaches should stop yelling at the players and be nice to them and help them.

coach isn't the only one that can help or teach you. Your teammates can also help you. But, that means that you have to be nice to them so they

basketball. Starting with nine players on each team and a soccer ball, the first game of basketball was played on December 21, 1891. Initially, only
passing the ball up the court was allowed, not dribbling. The goal of the game, like it is today, was to try and shoot the ball into the basket which is
attached to a backboard. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game wins. The sport has developed many rules since the first game.

discourse community is a group of people that's trying to reach their goals, and everyone has different functions. These public goals may be formally
described as concepts that play a part in a discourse community" (Swales220). Discourse community have six steps. And these steps are "goals or
purpose the group want", "has mechanism of intercommunication among its members", "uses it participatory mechanisms to provide information and

The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And Effect...
2. Background Information
This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on–court performance. Athletes need to have the capability to
modify, learn, and correct their muscle memory. Enhancing an athlete's performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral nervous
systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables measured including the reaction time: the time between the
stimulus and a bodily movement; the movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement; and the
response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous studies that look at the use of Electromyographic
Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in performance and
responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an
increase in the response time and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete's performance is the ability to tune out outside
disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill, then they can perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance
their techniques is important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a multitude of offensive and defensive skills. Most

The most enjoyable environment that I like being is on the basketball court. Basketball and everything surrounding basketball means the most to me.
The feeling I get when I play is unexplainable, and I wouldn't take the feeling back for the world. Everything about basketball excites me long

What I love about basketball is the most is seeing outcomes from practice. Not being able to make a certain move or shot, allows me to push myself
more to make that move or shot correctly. Practice is not a one a week, or one every two days situation. To be the best practice has to come every day,
even on game days. One of the greatest players to play basketball Kobe Bryant, missed a game winning shot in the NBA Finals and not even 10

Among the many things that Americans enjoy, basketball has always been an integral part of our culture. I picked up the game when I was in the

at the court led him to a full scholarship to attend Georgetown, in which he later entered the NBA Draft after his sophomore year, and ended up
being selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Not only did Allen Iverson change the NBA because of streetball. There is also Stephon
Marbury, Jason "White Chocolate" Williams, and Jamal Crawford (Walter). They all are scrappy and flashy players which helped bring some
toughness and excitement back to the NBA. If it were not for the parks out there allowing these players to pick up the game, they may have went a
different way in life and been stuck in their slums. A twenty dollar basketball and a place for them to go and use it got them to the point where they
are making a career out of it. Given those previous players making a name for themselves on the courts, why

Why Basketball Helps You : Basketball
Why basketball helps you
Basketball is a well–known sport that is played almost everywhere: at school, home, parks, and other places. Basketball is the easiest sport to play,
and enjoy with friends. Basketball can help you reach your goals mentally by making you more aware of your surroundings and helping you be more
alert of school assignment, other work outside of school, and physically by staying in shape by going to the gym and working out or by just running.
Some explanations of how basketball helps you is: it gets your mind off things, it helps you stay in shape, and it's a great sport since you are spending
more time with your friends. Our life works like basketball, if we keep reaching for our goals and accomplish them you already scored a basket.
Playing basketball helps burn calories, build endurance, improve balance and coordination, develop concentration and self–discipline, and build up
muscles. When you are a playing a game of basketball you are running, jumping, and doing a lot of movements which can burn a lot of calories in
about an hour. Building endurance can help your heart, by moving around on the court to get the ball, which causes your heart rate to be up.
Improving balance and coordination is all about how to set your body when shooting a free throw and quickly eyeing the basket. Developing
concentration and self–discipline are both joined to one because in a basketball game, there are rules to follow which can affect you and the team.
That's why you

The Basketball Court
Damian Lillard once said, "Whenever I'm on the court, I feel like I'm making a statement and a case that I belong." That quote says a lot about the
feeling on the court; however, what I see and hear is what gets me those feelings, and what I feel gives me the drive for success. The more and more I
drive towards success in the game of basketball the more people I meet and the more motivation and inspiring I get from those people.
The stuff that I see on the court, playing and practicing, gives me motivation to be a better athlete. I see players bonding over the same love for the
game. Players are all around, working on their shot, becoming better players. When we are in a group I look at all the faces and I can see ... Show more

I hear the dribbling of the basketball that is just music to my ears. Each and every player are encouraging and motivating each other by saying stuff
like, "Nice shot!" "Work Hard!" and "Don't quit!" The sound of the net after shots made gives me chills. Out of all the sounds I hear on the court; the
net makes the best sound. While on the court the squeak of the players shoes, one after another gives me this beat I play over and over again. During
games, the defense talking, and working hard to get the stop. All I hear makes me want to get back on the court as soon as I can.
After I'm on the court and I see and hear all those things I get these feelings that I feel no where else. As I'm working hard and improving on my
skills all I feel is adrenaline rushing through me. I feel the need to improve my game and I need to give it my all every second I'm on the court. I
can just feel my heart beating 100 miles per hour. When I am on the court have this feeling that surrounds me and makes me feel like I am meant to
be here. Every time I am huddled around my team I feel the "family" part of basketball. The stuff I feel gives me the urge to improve my game.
The stuff I hear, see, and feel just makes me love the game more and more. As I grow and improve; the more stuff I hear, see, and feel. Everything I

Being On The Basketball Court
My cousin and I were in my neighborhood walking around. We decided to take a walk because
we were bored and thought someone would be outside. While we were outside we noticed a
white car roaming around the neighborhood watching us as we were walking. When we were on
our way home the car followed us to the street, after it pulled off to make another lap we ran to
the house to only see that a note on the door, which I thought was scary but it was only a florist.
2. My happy place would probably be on the basketball court. Being on the court clears my mind.
Although I can do wrong, there's always room for mistakes. Helping my team makes me happy,
a good stop on defense boosts us for offense. And once were up there is no coming back.

Original Clock At The Basketball Court Essay
Jade glanced up and looked at the analog clock at the corner of the room. It was six o'clock already; it was way past his working hours. He stood
up gingerly and flung his tuxedo over his shoulder to exit the building with the word "POLICE" imprinted on the side. A dark blanket had draped
across the sky already with stars flickering into view as Jade knelt in front of the reflecting glass door, checking that it was locked. He stood up again,
but as he turned his heels away, he caught a glimpse of the tattered WANTED poster fluttering in the breeze. Printed out on June 6th, 2009 in Auckland.
Man wanted for raping and making illegal profits from drugs. Last seen in Wellington, he read to himself before he strolled down the sidewalk. They
would've gotten him already, he thought and stopped abruptly, staring out into the empty space and observing the scene unfolding in front of him
nostalgically.
Jade visited the basketball court everyday on his way back home after he finished working. It was part of his daily routine. He would always spend a
good ten minutes walking around the perimeter of the court and studying the horde of children running across the court like lions chasing their preys.
It reminded him of himself and his basketball team. However, he left later than usual today and the court was as empty as a desert. As he walked
towards the center, not a single piece of litter could be found on the floor with the exception of a few withered, yellow leaves dancing in the

Persuasive Essay On Basketball Court
I think that if there is any chance that there can be a new addition where people can socialize or have fun at should be added to the town, it should be
an indoor basketball court. I know that you can like a swimming pool or a football field but those types of additions but, you cannot use those
additions when the snow comes around. I think that the donor should build a proper basketball court for the town of Hammond because you can play
during any season of the year, it would be a nice wooden floor instead of concrete, and people who do not have a basketball hoop can go over to the
court and practice there.
People who are truly dedicated to basketball want to practice whenever they are available to do so. When snow is on the ground, or even when it is
raining it makes it tougher to practice. Your basketball can deflate due to the coldweather or it could take a long time for it to stop raining and dry up.
That would take all the time you could be practicing and improving at the sport you love just waiting for better conditions. If an indoor court is built
it can have the right temperature to make sure that your basketball does not deflate and you would not have to wait all day for better conditions.
There will also be no obstacles to go around such as a car that your parents parked in front of the basketball hoop. With an indoor court you can just
get in and right away play without having to move anything in the way. An indoor court could be so much better for any athlete

Descriptive Essay On The Magic Basketball
The Magic Basketball
Once upon a time, in a place called Twin Falls, Idaho, there was a young fourth–grader attending Morningside Elementary. His name was Johnny, and
he was having a great time out at recess. He played soccer, went on the swings, and did more. But there was still one thing he needed to do. He wanted
to play basketball.
He ran to the basketball court as fast as he could with his friends. They looked like graceful gazelles galloping across a field. But when he got there, he
noticed that the basketball court was taken by the fifth–grade bully, Robbie, and his bully friends.
Robbie was gigantic compared to the other fifth–graders. He was easily five feet tall and was stacked with muscles. It was rumored that if Robbie was
hit by a semi–truck, the only thing broken would be the semi–truck. That's how stacked he was.
"If you want to play on this basketball court," Robbie sneered, "you have to win it from us. Me versus Johnny tomorrow at recess. Whoever wins gets
to have the court."
Johnny was worried because he thought he was going to lose to Robbie. Johnny rather preferred books and math. He wasn't great at sports, especially
basketball. He was going to lose, he thought. He was going to disappoint his friends.
Later that day, Johnny was walking around at the park, being sad. He had practiced playing basketball for a while at his house and he knew that he
wasn't going to even come close to winning.
While Johnny was walking around, being depressed and all, he

Do you think the Duke Center basketball courts should be renovated, or have it stay like a landfill? Yes, we should fix it up because it would look
nice, and a lot of people would use it. The courts would be awesome to have because kids could play multiple sports on it, improve Otto–Eldred
basketball skills, and the community would come together. Abasketball court would improve people's health because they would be active. The
basketball courts in Duke Center should be renovated for good purposes.
First of all, new basketball courts would be awesome because people would play multiple sports on the courts. In the winter the fire department would
put water on the courts, and it would freeze and then kids or adults could be able to play hockey. Also in the summer kids would be able to play

Duke Center and Rixford kids don't have anywhere to play basketball, and if the community added one it would be good for Otto–Eldred basketball.
Secondly, gym classes could use it when they go outside for gym, then they could play basketball more often. Finally, kids love to play basketball so
there would be a lot of pickup games, which is like a real game.
Most importantly, the community would come together, and kids would be more active. Kids would actually have a place to be active, rather than
sitting at home playing their Xbox's. Basketball is what some kids need to get through life because they might not have a good family. Finally, they
could have tournaments for money and maybe a rec league.
On the other hand, some people might wonder where will the money come from, but if the community helps it will be easier. The sports boosters
could donate some money which could help pay for the basketball courts. Also the Lions Club would donate money because it is for a good cause.
Finally, fundraisers would help if our community comes together and has fundraisers. We could raise a lot of

James Naismith: The Invention Of Basketball
James Naismith invented the most popular game played all over the world called basketball in 1891. Naismith had to create a game and state the rules
for an assignment at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in Springfield Massachusetts. He listed 13 original rules and the dimensions of
the court. Little did Naismith know, the game he invented would blow up and become one of the most popular sports worldwide. Naismith, the
inventor of basketball, was born and educated in Canada then moved to Springfield Massachusetts. He wrote the 13 rules at the YMCA for an
assignment. In the first games played, there were nine players to a side. They would try and throw a soccer ball into peach baskets hung from
balconies at the ends of the gym. After a basket was scored they would pause the game and climb up on a ladder to get the ball. The first men's college

He was a physical education teacher at Springfield Massachusetts college when he invented the game. Basketball became very popular and the court
size regulations were created in 1924. In 1924 the court's maximum size was 90 by 30 feet and the minimum size of the court was 60 by three feet.
The rim height was 10 feet tall. The original court had no 3–point line. Then in 1951 the NBA added the free–throw line, which was 12 feet from the
basket. The NBA then created the 3–point line in 1979, which was 22 feet between the corners and 23 feet, 9 inches at the top of the key. In 2008 the
court was changed again to what it is today. Some of the changes are that the NCAA and NBA courts regulation size is 94 feet long sideline to
sideline and 50 feet wide. Also the 3–point line was extended 6.75 meters, or around 22.1 feet out from the basket. ("The History of the Basketball

Sports, Basketball, And Football
Sports. Some love them, some hate them, but even those who hate cannot deny their overwhelming popularity. America is home to many sports,
basketball, and American football among the most popular. Spectators filling in thousands of seats at open stadiums, and hundreds of thousands more
watching at home in front of their television. Both basketball and football have distinct, fundamental differences, however, they do not outweigh the
similarities the two sports share.
A franchise without their fans is similar to a kingdom without their subjects, and basketball and football share this common thread. Of course,
without these adoring fans to watch them, what would they be? Basketball and football are aggressive, energetic sports and with that, aggressive and
energetic fans. Fans who will paint their faces, dye their hair and even pay thousands of dollars for ground seats or memorabilia. These fans are very
loud as well, as they cheer their teams on with shouts of encouragement or booing the competition. Being a fan of these sports may start as early as
childhood, or since birth, and ignite a life–long love for that team or sport. Many children often find playing sports a great outlet or passion, and
basketball and football are no exceptions to this. There are youth programs for both sports that a person can enroll their child in. As a child grows
older they may be tempted to try out for the middle school teams, and even older the high school varsity or junior varsity

Football Vs Basketball Compare And Contrast
Sports have been played for centuries around the world. Two of the most admired sports are football and basketball. They are especially popular in
America; football is ranked the most popular, and basketball is ranked the third most popular. Football became a sport in the United states in 1869;
however, basketball was not a sport in the United states until 1891. Both basketball and football are considered to be team sports. While football and
basketball have their similarities, football has a longer playing time, has more people playing with protective equipment, and is played outdoors with
a smaller ball on a larger field. When observing the differences between football and basketball, one cannot help but notice the differences in playing
time. Football games at the professional and college level go on for sixty minutes. They have two, thirty minute "halves" or four, fifteen minute
"quarters." On the other hand, basketball at the professional level goes on for forty–eight minutes, and at the college level, forty minutes. College
basketball has only two, twenty minute "halves." Professional basketball has four, twelve minute "quarters." Football playing times at both the
professional and college level are longer than those of basketball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Basketball Court
What Happened On the Basketball Court "The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up." This quote is written by Mark
Twain, an American writer, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. This quote is telling us that if you make someone feel good you will too. This
quote is a great example of what happened to me in 2nd grade. This quote a great example of what changed my life and is now what I do everyday.
It was January 8, 2012. I was In my house playing on the computer and my mom was on the phone with my dad saying "Should I tell them now, or
when you get home." I could not hear my dad. My mom said, "Ok, ok, I understand." She hung up the phone and then said," Boys come here for a
second." We all sprinted with a smile stretching across our faces thinking she had good news. I put my hands out as I tri on my brothers shoe and
fell over and caught my fall. It felt like minutes until I finally got there with the biggest smile I have ever made I my life. Then my mom
sighed,"Boys I have some news." Right as she said that my smile slowly started to vanish. Then the worst possible thing at that moment happened.
My mom said,"We're moving." It was Monday January 14, 2012. My two brothers and I were being guided to our classes. As the bell rang I leaped
witch felt like I was 5ft high. My palms were sweaty as can be. I was so nervous that I forgot how to walk. But, again I was only In 2nd grade. We
finally got too my class. Everyone was whispering to each other.

The Effect Of Weight Lifting And Its Effects On Basketball...
Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players
Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between one another, clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead:
the basketball. A game of strategy and high demands, basketball calls on both the body and the mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It calls on
your body in many ways that will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally, the game will demand a high intelligence and acumen from
the mind when making split second decisions. Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally; furthermore, this training can
then be applied onto the basketball court to help increase the physical and mental attributes of a player. Being well–equipped physically for basketball
provides many advantages when you apply it correctly. Basketball is a unique sport that contains non–stop movement in every moment. The objective
is simple: score more points than the other team. This is accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines for fluid
motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this consistent activity can be extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of
basketball the gameplay is live until the ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul, timeout called, or the end of a quarter. While this may seem like quite
a few factors to allow a dead–ball and some rest time, they do not occur as much

The Game Of Basketball : Dr. James Naismith Essay
Dr. James Naismith invented the game of basketball in 1891. Women's basketball began in the winter of 1892 at Smith College when a physical
education teacher began teaching young women the game of basketball. However, women's college basketball has come a long way since then. I will
explain how the game of basketball is played and the life of a women's college basketball player at the University of Wisconsin– River Falls.
First I will talk about the material aspects of the game, who participates and some general information. Basketball is played in a gym; the
basketball court is rectangular with a basketball hoop on each end of the court. The official measurements of a women's college basketball court are
94 feet long and 50 feet wide. The distance from the ground to the rim is 10 feet. The basketball rim is 18 inches in diameter, the backboard is 6 feet
wide and 42 inches tall. The foul line is 15 feet from the front of the backboard and the 3–point line is 20 feet and 9 inches away from the basketball
hoop. The basketball itself is 28.5 inches in circumference. A basketball team consists of normally 12–18 players who are freshmen–seniors and then
you have your coaching staff. Normally you have a head coach, assistant coach, student coach and some other people who help out. A head coach is
the highest ranking coach out of all the coaches, they also get paid the most and have the overall decision. The assistant coaches help the head coach,
they normally do more of the

How Did Michael Jordan A Game Changer

  • 1. How Did Michael Jordan A Game Changer Throughout the years, basketball has evolved into a thrilling sport enjoyed by millions worldwide. In 1891 Dr. James Naismith invented a physical activity that would eventually develop into the billion–dollar industry it is today. Basketball started out on the streets of cities like New York and Chicago. As the sport became more popular, entrepreneurs saw it as a business opportunity and created the NationalBasketball Association on July 6, 1946. In its early days, towering players like Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell dominated professional basketball. Centers were the focal point of basketball between 1946 and 1966. These players would bully shorter opponents with sheer height. Coaches often made players pass the ball to the center most of the game. This was a very common style of basketball in the early days. Building the team around its center position player was common until the 1967–1968 season when the NBA introduced the three–point line. The three–point line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jordan dominated the NBA with a style of play never seen on the hardwood court. Michael Jordan once said "You have to do things for yourself before they become a reality." What he actually meant is that he was going to change the game in many ways. Jordan was a game changer because of his explosive moves to the basket, impressive handling of the ball, outstanding shooting, and a great post up game. All of which were captivating to watch guard players do. He demonstrated why skill was more important than height. The effect of Jordan's game was so brilliant that the NBA changed its rules to make the games more exciting. This led to high scoring games featuring relentless attacks to the rim and spectacular dunks that Jordan popularized. The NBA even changed the length of shorts players wore. Jordan forever changed the game of basketball with his unmatched skills and on–court competitiveness that influenced the style of play seen in modern–day NBA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Why I Want To Go To A Gym Everyone has their own little spot to escape from the world to feel relief and relaxation. They often go there when they need peace and quiet, or to think about things. The place I go to do this is the basketball court. Basketball has always been my favorite sport and ever since I was a little boy, I can reminisce about the hype of watching the Boston Celtics in the living room with my father. When I was in 6th grade, I remember him saying he had a surprise for me after returning home from school. "Ty, want to go to a Celtics game this Friday?" my eyes immediately widened with eagerness and excitement. The day I stepped foot into TD Garden, everything else in the world that mattered seemed to disappear, it seemed to me be the greatest place... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I lace up my shoes and step foot onto the court –– all of life's problems and struggles just vanish, never coming to mind while playing on the hardwood. Nothing can stop me; because I am in my territory, my sanctuary. The game and the court; they are my canvas, and I am Picasso, the game is an art and every time I step into the gym are efforts to create a masterpiece. I feel as if I am in complete control, like a maestro conducting his symphony and everything I do is nothing but sweet music with the perfect melody and flow. Every move I make, every decision I make, every shot I take is vital to the performance of my team –– with nothing less than a hundred percent effort in mind. I feel as free as bird, soaring through the open air, flying for the first time in the clouds, free. The game and the sound of the ball dribbling take away all the negativity I may be experiencing and immediately replace it with optimism, leaving me in a state of complete serenity. Whenever I feel down I just pick up a ball and head to the gym and my attitude is shifted to a sense of relief and joy. • 3. Basketball Is A Sport For The Campus Of Eastern Michigan... Basketball is a sport that requires a lot of time and effort to be good at. It's a sport that keeps some people in shape, some people involved with a community, and gives others an opportunity to meet new people. The recreation basketball community I am looking into is the one on the campus of Eastern Michigan University (EMU). Every day there is a multitude of people playing basketball in either the Recreation Center (REC) or on the courts outside of the student center. The people that make up this community are very diverse and most come from different backgrounds. Because I know the recreational basketball community is very diverse and interactive, I wonder what brings people together and why basketball is such an enticing sport. The purpose of this study is to see who plays basketball at the REC and then ask them why. People are playing basketball in the community every day so I could gather a plethora of information. I am sure to find interesting results and answers to the questions I will be asking the recreational basketball players at EMU. I have already met a lot of new people and made multiple new friends because of this community and that is a reason that I want to study it and find out if other people view this community just like I do. To study this community I will have to do some research online and also get information from primary sources like recreational basketball players that I see on the courts every day. • 4. More Like Myself: Basketball Court The place I feel more like myself is on the basketball court. When I shoot the ball, or am chasing down for a steal, I can feel the adrenaline running through my veins. I always play my best whenever I am on the court, doing my best to improve all my weaknesses. When I am alone I play just to relieve stress and let it make me feel good about myself. There are different styles of basketball courts, backboards, and balls. I prefer a rubber court because it is soft and very grippy. The backboards and rims may all look alike but they are different. Plexiglass are very great backboards toplay with. It is hard to break and when it's broken it isn't that sharp. Rubber basketballs, leather, and synthetic leather are the different types of balls. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joseph is often seen socializing amongst his friends on the basketball courts. The conversations touch on everything from basketball, to school, and relationships. During his interactions with his friends on the basketball court, he can at times be competitive, but that's just the nature of the game. If he ever loses there are moments when he'll just storm off the court not shaking hands. His attitude can be taken to another level if he loses and performs poorly, whenever this occurs he doesn't only storm off, but he also refuses to talk to anyone if he does the conversations tend to turn out aggressive with a lot of trash talk. When things are going his way Josephs demeanor is calm, he engages well with his friends, and he always brings humor to the conversations, he tends to take himself less seriously when his girlfriend is not around, and when he isn't losing games. Joseph is also a student giving him the chance to interact with his classmates/teachers. There are moments when he doesn't have much to say unless he is talking with his friends, he is polite and very respectful towards the teacher. Surprisingly, he always appeared to be more timid when he was in class compared to when he was on the basketball courts. Basketball is one of the most watched or frequently played sport in history, on top of soccer, football, or baseball. In this essay, I will answer the question, and tell about some important events in basketball history. Basketball started in 1891. It has now grown into one of the most popular sports in history. Basketball was invented in December 1891 by Canadian James W. Naismith. An instructor at the YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, he sought a suitable indoor game to keep his students fit and warm during the cold New England winters. With wire mesh backboards. He formulated 13 rules, most of which still apply today. In 1893, the first women's game was played at the Smith College, in Northampton, Massachusetts, USA. And soon to spread all over the world. Rules of the game of basketball. Basketball is a team sport. Two teams of five players each try to score by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The court is divided into two main sections by the mid–court line. If the offensive team puts the ball into play behind the mid–court line, it has ten seconds to get the ball over the mid–court line. If it doesn 't, then the defense gets the ball. Once the offensive team gets the ball over the mid–court line, it can no longer have possession of the ball in the area in back of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I step onto the court it is impossible for me to conjure a negative feeling within myself, I enter an endless state of euphoria and self–confidence. • 13. King Of The Court : Bill Russell And The Basketball... King of the Court: Bill Russell and the Basketball Revolution brings a fresh perspective to the life of one of the National Basketball Association's most iconic and prominent players of all time. Bill Russell is known for his tenacious and innovative style of basketball play, but rarely does his background get much attention. Aram Goudsouzian takes a detailed look into the life of 6'10" Bill Russell, making note of not only his authority on the court, but also his background, culture, and attitude off the court. The book captures the influential upbringing William "Bill" Felton Russell had and how the philosophies and culture he was immersed in shaped who he was. He grew up during the 1930s–1940s in West Monroe, Louisiana – a town that, at the time, had minimal blacks living there. While the town itself was relatively peaceful in terms of racial tension, surrounding areas did not adopt the same views. One day when Bill and his older brother Chuck were tossing pebbles at one another, a stray stone hit a passing car being driven by a white man. The man called Bill a "nigger" and threatened to hang him. As Bill recalls, "I ran off, half angry, half laughing." This shows the almost humorous perspective some blacks during this time had about the "white power." Often, there is a notion that blacks during the Jim Crow era were in constant fear of whites. While this was true, some blacks, such as the Russell family, opposed, laughed, and scoffed at this idea. Katie Russell, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then the coach starts to yell at you instead of helping you. What do you do? This is why coaches need to stop screaming at their players and just help them. These three reasons explain why they should stop. One reason is that some players have way more talent than others and coaches don't realize it. Another reason is you can make relationships with your coaches but you can't since they are yelling at you. The third reason is their health because coaches can hurt the players confidence and their self–esteem. This is why coaches should stop yelling at the players and be nice to them and help them. • 18. The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And Effect... 2. Background Information This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on–court performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and correct their muscle memory. Enhancing an athlete's performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral nervous systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables measured including the reaction time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement; and the response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an increase in the response time and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete's performance is the ability to tune out outside disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill, then they can perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance their techniques is important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a multitude of offensive and defensive skills. Most notably, ... Well if you are, continue reading to find out more about why we should make one at the local park. If we build a basketball court at the local park everyone that likes basketball will be able to go and play whenever they want on a big court instead of staying at home and playing on a smaller one. People will get a chance to meet other people from around town with the interests as themselves. A big problem is that the local people don't want it because they think that there will "be too much noise." This will not be a problem because the court will be built right next to the park. • 21. Basketball Court Research Paper The most enjoyable environment that I like being is on the basketball court. Basketball and everything surrounding basketball means the most to me. The feeling I get when I play is unexplainable, and I wouldn't take the feeling back for the world. Everything about basketball excites me long practices, nice equipment, the roaring crowd, and above all scoring. The background and the development of basketball is mind–blowing and is much appreciated. There are other choices and great environments that I like to be in but the basketball court ranks above all of them. What I love about basketball is the most is seeing outcomes from practice. Not being able to make a certain move or shot, allows me to push myself more to make that move or shot correctly. Practice is not a one a week, or one every two days situation. To be the best practice has to come every day, even on game days. One of the greatest players to play basketball Kobe Bryant, missed a game winning shot in the NBA Finals and not even 10 minutes later he went back into the same gym and practiced that one shot for hours and hours until his arms couldn't move. The next year Kobe Bryant went on to win the NBA Finals with ease. Practice does not make perfect, but practice does perfect you. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 22. College Admissions Essay: My Life As A College Athlete As a child, I was taught that with hard work and determination I could achieve anything. Unfortunately, this is a myth, and limitations are a part of being human. I was forced to accept this reality during my junior year of high school. Ever since I was a little girl, I looked forward to playing varsity basketball on the orange and black court at Dalton High School. Finally, during my third year of high school, I was given the chance to start as point guard on the girls' varsity basketball team. Suddenly, my dream turned into a nightmare, and I was sitting on the bench watching other girls play the game I loved. Gretchen Wald, a teammate, was experiencing the same problem. Going into the start of the basketball season, I was ecstatic to finally bring the ball down the court as a varsity point guard, but my joy quickly turned to frustration when my role changed. I worked hard every single day in order to earn a position in that starting five; I put in extra effort before and during the season. After a few games, my hard work seemed to be insignificant because my playing time started to be cut. As time went on, I played on the court less and less until finally I didn't play at all. Gretchen Wald, the power forward, received less playing time as well. We were both confused and frustrated. Despite the dissatisfaction, Gretchen encouraged me to continue to work hard and stay positive. She always kept a smile on my face during practice and games. Also, I would find notes in my locker from her that encouraged me to keep fighting through the difficult season. During games I would look at the other girls with jealousy because I longed to play the game I loved again, yet Gretchen still found ways to make me laugh throughout the game. I picked up the game when I was in the first grade and still find myself playing it whenever I get the chance. Nowadays, there seems to be a lack of parks and such for people to go to and have some fun with others. Streetball has made its own culture and kids grow up idolizing older players that are out on the courts making the game look so enjoyable. With that being said, it is in my firm belief that outdoor basketball courts are an essential part of communities and need to be given more attention because they are great places for kids to go and play and stay out of trouble while being in touch with their surroundings. Most players began playing basketball as compared to other sports because it was easily accessible and relatively cheap with basically everything provided when going to a local court. I was not surprised to find that one of my favorite basketball players of all time was a streetballer. He was a troublemaker, and was previously sentenced to serve fifteen years in prison but managed to turn himself around with the game of basketball. Allen Iverson spent his days at the park working on his lethal crossover that would one day even make Michael Jordan look silly. Those days spent at the court led him to a full scholarship to attend Georgetown, in which he later entered the NBA Draft after his sophomore year, and ended up being selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Not only did Allen Iverson change the NBA because of streetball. There is also Stephon Marbury, Jason "White Chocolate" Williams, and Jamal Crawford (Walter). They all are scrappy and flashy players which helped bring some toughness and excitement back to the NBA. If it were not for the parks out there allowing these players to pick up the game, they may have went a different way in life and been stuck in their slums. Persuasive Essay On Basketball Court I think that if there is any chance that there can be a new addition where people can socialize or have fun at should be added to the town, it should be an indoor basketball court. I know that you can like a swimming pool or a football field but those types of additions but, you cannot use those additions when the snow comes around. I think that the donor should build a proper basketball court for the town of Hammond because you can play during any season of the year, it would be a nice wooden floor instead of concrete, and people who do not have a basketball hoop can go over to the court and practice there. People who are truly dedicated to basketball want to practice whenever they are available to do so. When snow is on the ground, or even when it is raining it makes it tougher to practice. Your basketball can deflate due to the coldweather or it could take a long time for it to stop raining and dry up. That would take all the time you could be practicing and improving at the sport you love just waiting for better conditions. If an indoor court is built it can have the right temperature to make sure that your basketball does not deflate and you would not have to wait all day for better conditions.
