- 2. 22 Workshop Objective By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: Determine when it is appropriate to use a wiki, blog, discussion board or journal.

- 4. 4 Is it important to interact with others in an online environment?
- 5. 5 When we connect with others in new social situations, we create social presence or a degree of interpersonal contact.
- 6. 6 When individuals participating in online learning events are separated by physical or geographic location and sometimes are working in isolated conditions, the ability to establish interpersonal contact with others greatly diminishes because all contact is electronic.
- 8. 88 Wikis • Students can create course content together. • Divide students into pairs or groups, or generate as a class unit.
- 9. 99 Blogs • Students showcase their grasp of the material. • Students can comment on each other’s work.
- 10. 1010 Discussion Boards • Students can express their ideas, gathering feedback and help with refining their opinions and plans.
