Angelo State University Case Study
Looking for a college to attend is always a large decision in your life. You have to think about
questions like 'living accomodations?', 'close or far from home?', 'student policies?', and many, many
more. Below will show my reasons for attending Angelo State University and, hopefully give you
some more reasons as well. As an up and coming college student you have a lot of decisions to
make, almost all of them involving your future to some degree. It is a scary concept I know but they
are decisions that you need to make for yourself. Other people can and will influence your decisions,
influence being the key word. They should not try to make the decisions for you because that is
apart of the growing process. Some of my decisions regarding

The Effects Of Huey Long 's Bills Affecting Our State
Has anyone here ever stopped and wondered why LSU is the size it is today or why there never
seems to be a shortage of schools wherever you go in the state. Whether you have or not, these are
both causes of Huey Long's bills affecting our state, also known as the reign of the Kingfish. Huey
Pierce Long was born on August 30, 1893, in the town of Winnfield located in Winn Parish to Mrs.
Caledonia Long and Mr. Huey Long, Sr. The young Huey was the seventh of nine children (his
younger siblings being named Earl and Lucille), and he lived the life of a farmer's child. Although
he lived in an environment that offered little time for leisure or even education, Huey's parents
emphasized education in each of their children's lives along with individual expression and
competition. The family was also a group of astute Christians with their daily Bible studies,
attending church twice a week, and frequent attendance to gospel revivals.
As Huey grew, there was no school for him to go too. Therefore, his mother home–schooled him
with his eight siblings until a formal education was accessible. While being homeschooled, Huey
studied penmanship, writing, math, history, classic literature, and poetry along with the Bible being
the mainstay of his teachings. By age eleven, Long started going to a public school in fourth grade.
He was far ahead and bored by the teachings. He eventually persuaded his teacher to let him skip
seventh grade. He further continued onto the completion of

Transitioning From High School At College Is Always A...
Transitioning from high school to college is always a struggle for any young adult. The idea of
picking your own classes, living on campus, and separating from lifelong friends is extremely
overwhelming to process. However, when transitioning to college you are now back in the
underclassmen category and must work your way back up the "status ladder." College opens up a
new world that individuals must explore in order to make the best of their first year. But no matter
what college we attend, our freshman year of college will always have a strong impact on our lives.
Over the years as music, technology, television shows, and trends become different, our experiences
and memories of freshman year will never change. So when interviewing my Great Aunt Arlene
"Dudie" about her freshman year of college, I visualized her journey and what her experience was
like attending Illinois State University beginning in June of 1977.
Speaking with her about her life as a college student back in 1977 allowed me to share another
amazing moment with her that I will never forget. My great aunt is an expressive, sociable,
intelligent, and versatile woman. I am honored to be writing about such an awesome individual such
as my aunt. When I asked my aunt what she enjoyed most about Illinois State, she replied "ISU was
(and still is) a great university. Coming from a small town, I enjoyed meeting more African
American students from different areas of Illinois." I definitely shared the same feeling as

The City Of Fort Worth, Texas
I grew up in the suburbs on the North side of Fort Worth, Texas, more specifically Keller, Texas.
Keller had a population close to 40,000 people by the time I left for Texas A&M, but when I first
arrived there the population was only about 20,000 people. It is a growing town with a ton of
commodities and things to do, new activities are always popping up, such as the new movie theater
that was just built 5 miles away from my house. Being part of the suburbs of Fort Worth, it is mostly
organized in housing developments, with shopping centers scattered around. In each housing
development there were at least two schools, ranging from elementary to high school. At the center
of the town is downtown Keller, with the Town Hall at the center of ... Show more content on

Music has a big impact on my life, it is one of my favorite things in the world. My music library is
so diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all
tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my favorite
band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so much heart
and emotion in it, it's something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite would have to be
screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand anything the singer is
saying, it isn't something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is my favorite book, the ore
behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely different style than today's
writing. The writing style almost seems archaic but it has an elegance to it that is extremely difficult
to achieve. My upperclassmen are the heroes in my life right now. Being in the Corps of Cadets at
A&M can be difficult sometimes, and without them motivating me and supporting me, I don't
believe I would be able to complete half of the tasks that I have completed. They inspire me threw
greatness and lead me with strength and resolve. My upperclassmen are who I aspire to be like, I
want to be an example for future Corps members such as my upperclassmen are for me. I am a

Graduation Speech : College And Transferring
For a long time, I have been unsure about college and transferring, specifically. However, after this
class I am 100% certain of what I plan to do and how I plan to do it. It has given me clarity through
extensive direction and preparation. Originally, I had three of my top choices up in the air, them
being Appalachian State, Gardner–Webb, and ETSU. However through careful deliberation and
discussion with family, I have chosen my top choice. My first choice is Appalachian State, followed
by Gardner–Webb and ETSU, in that order. I chose this school due to its proximity to home, which
is very important to me. I prefer to be closer to home because, I love my family and all too often do
I run into a problem that my family can easily alleviate. Money was also obviously a big concern of
mine, especially after my dad has sent three previous children through college. Nearly all of which
were overlapping each other. App. State has a reasonable and affordable tuition for our budget. I also
chose this school for its familiarity. I have made a college visit to this school while in high school
several years back. I also have been around the campus several times after attending their summer
wrestling camp every year since being in 7th grade. The combination of all these reasons could be
enough to transfer however, one of the biggest reasons for my interest is their reputable business
program. I plan to major in Marketing, which falls under their prestigious Walker School

Angelo State University Curricular Activities Analysis
Angelo State University (ASU) ensures a student has a safe and prestigious learning environment.
Academics are important in a college setting, however in, order to ensure students remain able to
complete their studies, campuses must allow for activities which give students the opportunity to
clear their heads and prevent extreme amounts of stress. Not only will these activities aid in the
ways mentioned before, but they will allow students to be able to interact with diverse peers in a
non–classroom environment. Luckily, Angelo State University has various extracurricular activities
that can assist in allowing students to branch out.
Numerous events occur on campus here at ASU, however, it's the planning and organization of these
events that are the specialty of the University Center Program Council, or UCPC. ... Show more

Perhaps, a student would rather learn more about their ethnic heritage, thankfully, that's what
cultural groups specialize in. For example, the Association of Mexican American Students (AMAS).
AMAS is one of the largest and most active of all the organizations at Angelo State University. This
organization is a part of various activities from intramural sports to volunteer projects. In order to
become a member of AMAS, a student does not have to be of Hispanic origin. The Association of
Mexican American Students has two subgroups, mariposas and hermanos. Mariposas is a group that
is specifically open to only girls while hermanos is for guys. Another aspect of AMAS is the fact
that they are supported by the president of Angelo State University, Dr. May. Dr. AMAS holds their
meetings at seven thirty on Wednesdays in the Nasworthy Suite in the University Center. AMAS is
the perfect choice for students who wish to experience the Hispanic culture, get involved and be a

Central State University 's Theatre Production Performed...
Metropolitan State University 's Theatre Production performed, "God 's Country." This play was
written by Steven Dietz in 1988. It revolved around a white supremacist group called The Order.
This group was led by Robert Jay Matthews and during the presence of The Order, Matthews
organized the members to perform various illegal acts to earn money for the groups cause. The
illegal acts led to a court trial that occurs during the play because The Order, was being prosecuted
for the assassination of radio host, Alan Berg. During MSU Denver 's production of "God 's
Country," the elements of the play that stood out the most were: the success of one particular
character, growing to dislike a character, and the small amount of props that were used.
On opening night of "God 's Country," produced by Metropolitan 's Theatre, one character seemed to
be more successful than any of the other characters and that was the boy. The boy in this production
was portrayed by a girl, but gave an outstanding and very believable performance. At the beginning
of the play there was a scene where all the kids were playing recess games, but the boy was so much
more believable in this scene than any of the other characters. This girl was dressed like a boy, no
makeup, and her movements were so well performed to distinguish her true self from the boy in
which she played. It was so believable that for awhile, you were not quite sure if this actress was
either a younger boy or a student at MSU Denver.

In-Depth Animal Behavior Proposal

Proposal for
In–depth Animal and Equine Behavior classes
INTRODUCTION
In this proposal, I am asking the president of ASU and the chairman of the Agricultural department
to add more in–depth animal behavior classes so that we may in the future be able to stop all
animals being traumatized. With only 13 schools worldwide, offering in–depth animal behavior
classes; I would like to add ASU to that list and in turn, maybe gain some new students. By adding
animal behavior classes to the university there will be a gain in revenue as well as an uptick in
attendance. Because it helps traumatized animals by allowing them to work with younger people,
which in turn will allow them to recover ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

history and theory of animal behavior, approaches and methods used to study animal behavior, and
forces influencing the development of various behaviors. The second and third sections will focus
on the proximate and ultimate causes of behavior, respectively, while the fourth and final section of
the course will focus on the behavior of groups. The format of the course will consist of lecture,
student presentations, discussion, and short films. Lectures will be comprised of material from the
text and other sources. The purpose of this is to give you a broad introduction to animal behavior
and the neural mechanisms that underlie it. We will be reading additional articles (outside of our

The War Of The Vietnam War
During the 1960s and early 1970s, the Vietnam was the most talked about issue of the time. Due to
the high number of American casualties, and the troubling images that were broadcast on the nightly
news networks, the opposition of the war rose drastically. Many argue that the climax of the anti–
war opposition occurred in May of 1970 on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. It
was during an anti–war protest that the Ohio National Guard opened fired on the crowd, killing four
students. The country, torn apart by the war, saw the support for the soldiers decrease. In the years
that followed Kent, President Nixon began to bring troops home from Vietnam. Expecting a hero's
welcome back to the states, similar to what their parents had received following WWII; Vietnam
Veterans received quite the opposite. At airports that soldiers were returning to, many protests
occurred, shaming the soldiers for their actions during the war. Many of the veterans returning home
Vietnam found it hard to find work because too many people had developed a hatred for them due to
the war. Congress confronted the growing problem of discrimination against these Veterans by
taking action in 1974. Congress passed the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act
(VEVRAA) to combat the discrimination problem that the veterans were dealing with. According to
the United States Department of Labor website, the VEVRAA "requires covered federal government

Abstract This research paper is about Dennis Lynn Rader, also known as the BTK Killer. He haunted
the city of Wichita, Kansas for nearly thirty years, from his first killing of the Otero family in 1974
until his arrest in February of 2005. Ten people became his victims and throughout his "career" as

He strangled and suffocated him and sat down in a chair to watch him die. Last but not least it was
Josie's turn. His first attempt of strangling her failed, so he forced her to walk downstairs in the
basement. There he put a noose around her neck and hanged her from a pipe, leaving her partially
undressed. He masturbated on her bare legs, leaving semen behind. After cleaning up the house a
little bit he took the family's car and drove it to a nearby supermarket. What Rader didn't know is
that the Oteros had three older children, who had already left the house that morning. Charlie,
Daniel and Carmen were the ones that found their parents dead that afternoon. Rader's next victim
was Kathryn Bright. He broke into her home and hid in the bedroom waiting for her to return home.
Again something went wrong for Rader, and Bright returned home, accompanied by her younger
brother Kevin. He surprised them and using his gun he forced Kevin to tie up his sister. Then he
took Kevin in another room, trying to tie him up with material found in the home. Kevin got loose
and Rader shot him twice in the head. Thinking Kevin was dead, Rader went on to work on Kathryn.
She resisted heavily and instead of strangling her, he ended up stabbing her multiple times. During
that time Kevin, who wasn't dead, fled the house and called for help. Rader was forced to leave the

Descriptive Essay About My Life
I can see my short curls and round nose looking back at me in the reflection of the window while I
listen to Spanish pop. Looking out, I see hundreds of people walking past each other, from teens
dressed in jeans to adults in suits and blazers. There are nail salons, designer shoe stores, offices, all
in the midst of these massive buildings. I'm on a DART train passing Downtown Dallas, on my way
home from school. A few years ago, I didn't even know about the different rails, but now I know my
way around the entire city without using Google Maps, something I'm a little proud of. I've used it
to go to work at Bed Bath & Beyond, my chess tournaments, school, the mall, vegetarian
restaurants, and anything in–between. The reason might be because I can't afford a car, my dad
works all the time, and my sister took my mom's car to her tiny town of San Angelo for college, but
it doesn't even matter because riding the train and running errands by myself has made me
independent, plus it's eco–friendly.
At home, my mom waits for me with one of my favorite meals ready– pozole. Of course I have to
pick the meat out of it, but my mom just laughs and updates me of my sister's life on living on a cow
farm. Just kidding. I still don't know why Angelo State appealed to her so much when we have
grown up in the city but, it could not be me. Although our lives are different now, I cherish my
childhood as well as the new things I experience now.

"Oranges" by Gary Soto Essay
"Oranges"
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican–American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm laborers.
Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through chores,
such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an "illiterate"
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start writing

Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The boy
had to give up his orange because he didn't have enough money. He told his girlfriend that she can
chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime, now the
boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed and cheep
in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the counter for the
saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he's around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

The First Year Writing Program
Throughout the semester, the first year writing program gave students the privilege to become
improved writers. Students received the opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses and
come to a conclusion on what makes favorable writing. While writing the assigned essays this
semester, I realized being able to read and write about something that is relatable is extremely
critical. When an individual can relate to what they are reading, they will be more engaged
compared to reading a piece that fails to connect to them. Although the first year writing program
succeeded in building up better writers, there is always room for improvement. The program could
consider new pieces of work and content that is recent that students can form an opinion on and
relate to.
While writing, individuals should always keep in mind, honesty, personal experience, and sending a
message. Incorporating these values into a paper results in a piece of writing that is relatable and
clear to understand. Personal experience and examples provide a reasonable amount of evidence for
a reader. This will show that the topic being written about can happen and impact any individual.
Also, honesty is crucial when wanting to make a point about the topic being written about. Writing
that sends a message is essential due to the fact that the reader can identify that the author is writing
for a purpose and wants the reader to take away a lesson or idea from reading that piece.
Incidentally, my goals

Family Resource Centers
Half the children in this country live in homes in which one or both parents work. Twelve million
children in this country do not have health insurance, and over 4.5% of all children are victims of
suspected child abuse or neglect (Doktor and Poertner). Believe it or not, these are all indicators of
the demand for Family Resource Centers within our school systems. Many question whether Family
Resource Centers are worth the money the state pours into them. However, in serving students,
parents and teachers, there should be no question of their significance. Due to The Kentucky

In an interview with David Messer (operator of the Olive Hill Family Resource Center) I learned
that the resource centers say, " Our mission with children is to help remove the physical,
educational, and social barriers in order to see them succeed in school." and that " Our mission with
parents is to empower them with resources and skill needed to meet the challenges in life." The
mission statement of the resource centers may vary according to the area, but most followed the
same concept. Growing up in a school system with Family Resource Centers, I must agree that they
live up to their mission statement. They try to remove education barriers by offering tutoring,
physical barriers by offering special education or medical assistance, and social barriers by
providing students with anything to help them not stand out in the crowd.
Family Resource Centers have a unique structure. Referring back to the Orientation Guide for
Newly Employed FR/YSC Coordinators published by MSU's College of Education, Like any

Temple Grandin Reflection Paper
Reflection: Temple Grandin Before watching the movie, I have never heard of it before. I never

deals with the autism of a woman and tells the inspiration true story of her. Temple Grandin, a
young autistic woman, is extraordinarily gifted. She has a remarkable connection to animals and a
brilliant mind. This biopic follows Temple from her late teens –– as she struggles with both her own

She became an animal scientist and a professor at the university. The protagonist, Temple Grandin,
was able to explain and describe very skillfully how a person with this condition feels, hears, sees,
perceives and thinks. She helps people peek inside the mind of a person with Asperger's syndrome –
which facilitates good communication and better understanding. She demonstrates the importance of
pictures in the mind of autisitc people and how powerful their visual skills can be. Another reason
why I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism
can accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn't be viewed as
someone who can't do much or someone who doesn't have the skills and knowledge to do what
normal people can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of ones
who have autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn't necessarily mean
that people don't have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People with
autism are only stronger–willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple Grandin
shows that it doesn't matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals, you just
need that determination in your life. From this movie, I have learned that no matter how small other

1. How does the release of Beyoncé's two albums compare to a "traditional" release? What are the
benefits of her strategy?
Beyonce used the power of social media and the followers she has to promote her two albums as
opposed to standard marketing (Sisario, 2013). She posted and marketed her albums on social media
to target her audience directly. Standard marketing would have been radio, retail, and traditional
advertising. The benefits of this strategy is she is reaching out personally to her fans

Spartan Defense Is Not Costing The Team A Championship
Spartan defense is not costing the team a Championship
Every single person on this earth has a passion. No, I am not talking about fruit. I am talking about
is something that can put a person on top of the world or put a 40 ton wrench right in the center of a
person's gut. Passion. Comparable to a lot of guys in this world my passion is sports. Michigan State

defense was not "good" enough to compete at the highest collegiate level at the college football

When it comes to the Michigan State defense the experts are writing them off as not "good" enough
to win a championship, they forget to look at refined statistics, strength of schedule, and the overall
talent level of the defense as an entirety. It is hardly advertised that of the six teams that Michigan
State has played this year, not one, but two, Oregon and Air Force, are ranked in the top 6 of overall
rush offense, according to the official website of the NCAA. To Oregon, who is averaging 318.7
rush yards per game, Michigan State ceded only 123 rush yards on 43 attempts. The Spartan team
was similarly able to only allow Oregon one rushing touchdown, which is two scores less than their
per–game average. However, if you were to eliminate the Michigan State game rushing stats and
only conduct rushing stats for Oregon's other 5 games, they would be averaging 357.8 yards per
game which would rank them second in the country. While air force did manage to obtain a value
closer to their yards per game average of 335.4 yards per game falling 57 yards shy. While this does
not seem all that impressive, it is imperative to realize that with the triple option scheme that Air
Force runs a lot of rushing yards are going to be given up, what was vital was to limit the
touchdowns allowed through the running, which Michigan State was able to succeed in only
allowing two rushing touchdowns, holding them to

Why I Am A Doctor
Ever since I was ten, I knew what I wanted to grow up to become, a doctor. Eight years later, and I
still have not completely decide on what type of physician I want to be. This is because every career
in the medical field interests me. However, when I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for
sure. I knew it entailed several different science courses. I was happy with this because I always
loved science. What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two
semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I did for most
other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was always an area where I struggled.
That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for my first semester at Wayne State University, I
was hesitant to sign up for English 1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had
to take. I promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort than I
had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high standards that
medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into the Wayne State Medical
School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have improved in each of the writing outcomes,
which include reading, writing, researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling
in this class. The first, and the most basic, learning outcome that was focused upon in class is
reading.

My Trip At Penn State
About a year ago, in an effort to make that summer the best one of our lives, my sister and I decided
to embark on a road trip from Miami to Tallahassee. Not only was it an opportunity to visit my
cousin who lives there, but also it was going to be a fun trip for my sister and I–a chance for us to
bond. I had just left my final semester at Penn State a few weeks prior and regretting my decision
not to take a year off before attending college, I decided to take this time to make up for it. I've been
to several places in the few years I've had the privilege to travel, but watching thousands of pines
rolling in and out of view took my breath away. My sister dipped her hand into the bag of French
fries she had picked up at a rest stop a few miles back. Remembering a few concepts from my
undergraduate courses, I began explaining HDL and LDL levels as well as how cholesterol affects
membrane fluidity. She gave me the "you're doing it again" glare and I decided she'd had enough for
the day. Whether it's explaining the flow of blood through the heart to students as a learning
assistant, or informing various press outlets about cancer in order to gain their support for THON, a
student–run philanthropy for children with pediatric cancer held at Penn State every year, I enjoy
having the chance to teach things I've learned to others, regardless of my sister listening to me or
not. Educating others not only allows me to practice interpersonal skills I believe are important in an

The Social Impact Of A Protest At Kent State Shootings
Another event that eroded support in the war and US Government occured during a protest at Kent
State University. During a protest on May 4, 1970, twenty–nine National Guardsmen gathered at the
university to oversee a Vietnam War protest. In the midst of the protest, the National Guardsmen
fired into the crowd of protesters killing four people in the process (Gordon Page 35). This event
sparked an enormous uprising from the public and "the event triggered a nationwide student strike
that forced hundreds of colleges and universities to close" (Lewis). This strike had a huge social
impact and through the constant strikes and protests that followed the shootings caused the US
Government to lose the trust, respect, and support of many American citizens (Gordon Page 35).
The Kent State shootings were also able to reach the international stage through the abundance of
news broadcasts and songs following the shooting. Ohio, a famous song by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and
Young, focuses heavily on the Vietnam War and the Kent State shootings with lyrics stating, "Tin
soldiers and Nixon coming. We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming. Four dead
in Ohio" (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) as a direct reference to the Kent State tragedy. "A tin
soldier is a toy soldier, mindlessly controlled by its owner" (Songfacts Staff). Neil Young was
implying with these lyrics that the National Guard was mindlessly following orders from Nixon.
This song became wildly popular and is

The Today 's Soccer Big West Conference Championship Game...
The live sporting event that I chose to observe was the 2015 Woman's Soccer Big West Conference
championship game with Cal State Fullerton competing against Cal State Long Beach. The game
took place on Sunday, November 8th at 1:00pm at Cal State Fullerton. This game is significant
because it determines who wins the Big West and who qualifies for the NCAA tournament, so
pressure on the players and intensity are very high. Throughout the game, I observed the game as a
sport psychologist professional and observed the player's and coach's behaviors that relate to Sport
Psychology. The three sport psychology concepts that were interpreted during the soccer match
were: situational awareness, arousal regulation strategies, and reinforcements.
One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The player's situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know
where each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under
pressure, thus moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational
awareness was when the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be
kicked during the attempted score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent
to kick the ball and then reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped
as the opponent was making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes
who have good situational awareness, "always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone
else." The goalie was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent
because she had been in this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive
edge, allowed her to make the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring
any points. The second concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of
arousal regulation strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or
decrease arousal levels of a person (Weinberg & Gould, 2011). It is crucial for athletes to be aware
of their psychological states so they can

Essay about My Fantastic Freshmen Roommate
When I told people that I was going to Ball State University they then went on to ask who I would

that if I chose a random roommate It would most likely turn sour. They were so wrong. I was

Once I had walked in the room I saw that Natali (my new roommate) had Harry Potter posters

Now not everyone will immediately feel the way I did about Natali if you go in with the mindset
that you will hate your roommate just from everything that you have been told. The thing to
remember is to go into it with an open–mind.
Natali was on her way out when I arrived to unpack all of my stuff.
"Hey! I'm Natali. Natali Bacon." Just hearing her last name made me laugh on the inside. Other than
the quick hellos that we exchanged earlier that day we didn't see each other until later on that night.
It was awkward to say the least almost like when you are stuck in an elevator with a complete
stranger, except permanently. Things gradually got less weird as the night went on but for the most
part you can imagine that it was still pretty uncomfortable. We both gave it time and after spending
two full days inside together due to the scorching temperatures outside we slowly found out how
alike we were. We both loved the same TV shows like New Girl, Dexter, and Breaking Bad.
Literally we watched almost a complete season of Dexter together before the first day of school

everyone was wrong". Natali turned out to be a superb roommate. In the beginning I wasn't looking

The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems
This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown
to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way
of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two
variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State
University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will
then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a
decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates

(California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor
by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system
"the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates
are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF
International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied
by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship
isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still
be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality
might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than
$12.475 billion.
Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting
enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by
enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct
relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities
and is filled every semester. Enrollment is scheduled to decrease in

Personal Reflection
Heading into the first semester of college, many students do not know what passion of theirs they
want to pursue for the rest of their lives, let alone the steps to achieve a realistic way to follow it and
ideally make a living doing so. However, when I began my first year at Minot State University, I
knew I wanted to continue my journey in English, although, I did not know whether I wanted to lean
towards education or, in a perfect world, become the editor of a newspaper. Coincidentally, my
Honors' Community class' final project required choosing something to learn about, and simply,
learning about it. Since I had already known about English education, being that I had been taught
by them for more than a decade of my life, I chose to learn about the ins and outs of "Becoming an
Editor." Doing so, I not only learned more about being the editor of a newspaper, but I also related
more to the Honors' experience at MSU, reinforced my passions, and clarified my future. To begin, I
addressed the project from three perspectives: a book, the Red and Green, and the Minot Daily
News. First, I went to the MSU library and looked for recently–published books specifically about
editing newspapers. I found four possibilities, checked them out, and skimmed them to see if they
had the information I needed; only one book did so, Editing for Today's Newsroom by Carl Sessions
Stepp, but it was exactly what I needed, so I started to read. The next perspective I used was the

Career Research: A Career as a Social Worker Essay
I chose social working as my career because many other people go through tough situations and
have a difficult time talking to relatives or friends to help them through a tough situation. I thought
of becoming a social worker so I can have the ability to change the lives of others. Social work is
one of those careers you can truly make a difference in people's lives. I want to become a social
worker because life isn't about just helping yourself it's about helping others as well, which is what
social workers do for a living. Child and family social workers protect children and families in need

Broadcasting Services is to connect people to powerful ideas that inspire personal growth,
exploration of our world and positive change." (WKAR). From what observed, everyone in the
WKAR does their best to abide by the mission statement. Everyone in this environment works

The Btk Killer By Dennis Lynn Rader
Dennis Lynn Rader was born on March 9, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. His mother, Dorothea Mae
Cook, and father, William Elvin Rader, had three sons in addition to Dennis. In 1975, he married
Paula Dietz, and they had one son and one daughter. Throughout his childhood, Dennis displayed
signs of what he would become later in life. In reports, as well as his own confession, he tortured
animals and had a fetish with women 's underwear. Dennis, also known as the BTK killer, had at
least ten victims throughout his life. He became known as the BTK killer because of his modus

to Wichita State University, which he had attended in the 1970s. Photocopies had been made on

The rhetoric that is used in Happy Valley appeals the audience's emotional and logical appeals.
Throughout the film, Bar–Lev introduces important key factors, like Sandusky's adopted son and

as researchers and historians involved with Penn State. Bar–Lev has them open up about their

Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York City on October 27th, 1923. He described his childhood as
quiet and uneventful. His father was a realtor; his mother was a housewife. Art was not taught at the

His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various
modern art styles. In 1957 he tried his hand at Abstract Expressionism. What he is famous for
though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse
in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from
mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling,
are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of
benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art
and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact.
These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in
New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was
phenomenal. He has the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at
London's Tate Gallery. Lichtenstein continued in this area for a while, taking subjects from
sentimental
Romance magazines. He enclosed speeches in balloons and made landscapes in the

Personal Reflection Of Gender And Language
I first got my start in linguistics by accident. I did not foresee that one introductory linguistics class
taken on a whim would change my life. What caught my attention the most was our unit on
pragmatics and semantics. From that class, I've gone on to major in linguistics and even conduct my
own research in the field. I was given the opportunity to participate on a research team analyzing
children's acquisition of resultative adjectives. Our team ended up presenting at Eastern Michigan
University's Undergraduate Symposium. We also submitted an application to the 11th Annual
Cornell University Undergraduate Linguistic Colloquium, and were accepted to do an oral
presentation. Since I am working on a senior thesis at the moment, I have also been conducting
research of my own. I am studying the usage of the construction yeah, no and no, yeah. Though the
process, I have learned a lot about how to conduct research and also how to write an academic
thesis.
My plans for graduate study are heavily influenced by the classes I have taken during my time in
undergrad. As I mentioned before, I fell in love with pragmatics and semantics. Along with that, I
found a passion for sociolinguistics. There are two classes in particular that have sparked my
interest. The first was a class about women and language. Though it was titled women, it was really
about the relationship between gender and language. We talked about linguistic stereotypes based on

Arkansas State University : A Long Way Over The Years

Arkansas state university has a long history that goes back many years, at one time it was not even a

state university was founded in April, 1909, by Act 100 of the 37th Arkansas General Assembly as 1

C. Kays was hired as the 1st principle, he soon began hiring staff. The staff was made of a secretary,

programs at the master 's level were offered beginning in 1955, and that year saw a major change.
Walter Strong, Fred Turner, and Larry Williams became the 1st black students on campus and,
although Williams dropped out before graduating, Strong and Turner went on to become the first

shouldn't have ended there. Yes, he fulfilled his obligation to report any illegal actions on campus
but when the Penn State President chose not to take legal action Paterno should have made the
moral decision and had gone to the authorities. Legally, he fulfilled his obligation and therefore no
longer holds any responsibility in the eyes of the legal system. In the eyes of morality though, his
responsibility in the matter was not over just because he reported it to who he was supposed to. This
major problem should have been dealt with a long time ago. It's just a moral obligation that Joe
Paterno should have acted upon. So yes I feel he deserved to be fired. Everyone who knew about it
should have reported it to legal authorities. His great athletic achievements and mutual respect
should have pushed towards the issue being resolved and not swept under the rug for it to come out
years after and now resulting in him being fired. Every action has a reaction and in this case the
reaction is due to Paternos lack of action.
The child sex abuse scandal overall is a public relations disaster that the university is likely to be
dealing with for years to come. I definitely don't believe this case was

Angelo State University Case Study

  • 1. Angelo State University Case Study Looking for a college to attend is always a large decision in your life. You have to think about questions like 'living accomodations?', 'close or far from home?', 'student policies?', and many, many more. Below will show my reasons for attending Angelo State University and, hopefully give you some more reasons as well. As an up and coming college student you have a lot of decisions to make, almost all of them involving your future to some degree. It is a scary concept I know but they are decisions that you need to make for yourself. Other people can and will influence your decisions, influence being the key word. They should not try to make the decisions for you because that is apart of the growing process. Some of my decisions regarding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Effects Of Huey Long 's Bills Affecting Our State Has anyone here ever stopped and wondered why LSU is the size it is today or why there never seems to be a shortage of schools wherever you go in the state. Whether you have or not, these are both causes of Huey Long's bills affecting our state, also known as the reign of the Kingfish. Huey Pierce Long was born on August 30, 1893, in the town of Winnfield located in Winn Parish to Mrs. Caledonia Long and Mr. Huey Long, Sr. The young Huey was the seventh of nine children (his younger siblings being named Earl and Lucille), and he lived the life of a farmer's child. Although he lived in an environment that offered little time for leisure or even education, Huey's parents emphasized education in each of their children's lives along with individual expression and competition. The family was also a group of astute Christians with their daily Bible studies, attending church twice a week, and frequent attendance to gospel revivals. As Huey grew, there was no school for him to go too. Therefore, his mother home–schooled him with his eight siblings until a formal education was accessible. While being homeschooled, Huey studied penmanship, writing, math, history, classic literature, and poetry along with the Bible being the mainstay of his teachings. By age eleven, Long started going to a public school in fourth grade. He was far ahead and bored by the teachings. He eventually persuaded his teacher to let him skip seventh grade. He further continued onto the completion of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Transitioning From High School At College Is Always A... Transitioning from high school to college is always a struggle for any young adult. The idea of picking your own classes, living on campus, and separating from lifelong friends is extremely overwhelming to process. However, when transitioning to college you are now back in the underclassmen category and must work your way back up the "status ladder." College opens up a new world that individuals must explore in order to make the best of their first year. But no matter what college we attend, our freshman year of college will always have a strong impact on our lives. Over the years as music, technology, television shows, and trends become different, our experiences and memories of freshman year will never change. So when interviewing my Great Aunt Arlene "Dudie" about her freshman year of college, I visualized her journey and what her experience was like attending Illinois State University beginning in June of 1977. Speaking with her about her life as a college student back in 1977 allowed me to share another amazing moment with her that I will never forget. My great aunt is an expressive, sociable, intelligent, and versatile woman. I am honored to be writing about such an awesome individual such as my aunt. When I asked my aunt what she enjoyed most about Illinois State, she replied "ISU was (and still is) a great university. Coming from a small town, I enjoyed meeting more African American students from different areas of Illinois." I definitely shared the same feeling as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The City Of Fort Worth, Texas I grew up in the suburbs on the North side of Fort Worth, Texas, more specifically Keller, Texas. Keller had a population close to 40,000 people by the time I left for Texas A&M, but when I first arrived there the population was only about 20,000 people. It is a growing town with a ton of commodities and things to do, new activities are always popping up, such as the new movie theater that was just built 5 miles away from my house. Being part of the suburbs of Fort Worth, it is mostly organized in housing developments, with shopping centers scattered around. In each housing development there were at least two schools, ranging from elementary to high school. At the center of the town is downtown Keller, with the Town Hall at the center of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Music has a big impact on my life, it is one of my favorite things in the world. My music library is so diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so much heart and emotion in it, it's something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite would have to be screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand anything the singer is saying, it isn't something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is my favorite book, the ore behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely different style than today's writing. The writing style almost seems archaic but it has an elegance to it that is extremely difficult to achieve. My upperclassmen are the heroes in my life right now. Being in the Corps of Cadets at A&M can be difficult sometimes, and without them motivating me and supporting me, I don't believe I would be able to complete half of the tasks that I have completed. They inspire me threw greatness and lead me with strength and resolve. My upperclassmen are who I aspire to be like, I want to be an example for future Corps members such as my upperclassmen are for me. I am a member of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Graduation Speech : College And Transferring For a long time, I have been unsure about college and transferring, specifically. However, after this class I am 100% certain of what I plan to do and how I plan to do it. It has given me clarity through extensive direction and preparation. Originally, I had three of my top choices up in the air, them being Appalachian State, Gardner–Webb, and ETSU. However through careful deliberation and discussion with family, I have chosen my top choice. My first choice is Appalachian State, followed by Gardner–Webb and ETSU, in that order. I chose this school due to its proximity to home, which is very important to me. I prefer to be closer to home because, I love my family and all too often do I run into a problem that my family can easily alleviate. Money was also obviously a big concern of mine, especially after my dad has sent three previous children through college. Nearly all of which were overlapping each other. App. State has a reasonable and affordable tuition for our budget. I also chose this school for its familiarity. I have made a college visit to this school while in high school several years back. I also have been around the campus several times after attending their summer wrestling camp every year since being in 7th grade. The combination of all these reasons could be enough to transfer however, one of the biggest reasons for my interest is their reputable business program. I plan to major in Marketing, which falls under their prestigious Walker School ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Angelo State University Curricular Activities Analysis Angelo State University (ASU) ensures a student has a safe and prestigious learning environment. Academics are important in a college setting, however in, order to ensure students remain able to complete their studies, campuses must allow for activities which give students the opportunity to clear their heads and prevent extreme amounts of stress. Not only will these activities aid in the ways mentioned before, but they will allow students to be able to interact with diverse peers in a non–classroom environment. Luckily, Angelo State University has various extracurricular activities that can assist in allowing students to branch out. Numerous events occur on campus here at ASU, however, it's the planning and organization of these events that are the specialty of the University Center Program Council, or UCPC. ... For example, the Association of Mexican American Students (AMAS). AMAS is one of the largest and most active of all the organizations at Angelo State University. This organization is a part of various activities from intramural sports to volunteer projects. In order to become a member of AMAS, a student does not have to be of Hispanic origin. The Association of Mexican American Students has two subgroups, mariposas and hermanos. Mariposas is a group that is specifically open to only girls while hermanos is for guys. Another aspect of AMAS is the fact that they are supported by the president of Angelo State University, Dr. May. • 13. Central State University 's Theatre Production Performed... Metropolitan State University 's Theatre Production performed, "God 's Country." This play was written by Steven Dietz in 1988. It revolved around a white supremacist group called The Order. This group was led by Robert Jay Matthews and during the presence of The Order, Matthews organized the members to perform various illegal acts to earn money for the groups cause. The illegal acts led to a court trial that occurs during the play because The Order, was being prosecuted for the assassination of radio host, Alan Berg. During MSU Denver 's production of "God 's Country," the elements of the play that stood out the most were: the success of one particular character, growing to dislike a character, and the small amount of props that were used. On opening night of "God 's Country," produced by Metropolitan 's Theatre, one character seemed to be more successful than any of the other characters and that was the boy. The boy in this production was portrayed by a girl, but gave an outstanding and very believable performance. At the beginning of the play there was a scene where all the kids were playing recess games, but the boy was so much more believable in this scene than any of the other characters. This girl was dressed like a boy, no makeup, and her movements were so well performed to distinguish her true self from the boy in which she played. It was so believable that for awhile, you were not quite sure if this actress was either a younger boy or a student at MSU Denver. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With only 13 schools worldwide, offering in–depth animal behavior classes; I would like to add ASU to that list and in turn, maybe gain some new students. By adding animal behavior classes to the university there will be a gain in revenue as well as an uptick in attendance. • 17. The War Of The Vietnam War During the 1960s and early 1970s, the Vietnam was the most talked about issue of the time. Due to the high number of American casualties, and the troubling images that were broadcast on the nightly news networks, the opposition of the war rose drastically. Many argue that the climax of the anti– war opposition occurred in May of 1970 on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. It was during an anti–war protest that the Ohio National Guard opened fired on the crowd, killing four students. The country, torn apart by the war, saw the support for the soldiers decrease. In the years that followed Kent, President Nixon began to bring troops home from Vietnam. Expecting a hero's welcome back to the states, similar to what their parents had received following WWII; Vietnam Veterans received quite the opposite. At airports that soldiers were returning to, many protests occurred, shaming the soldiers for their actions during the war. Many of the veterans returning home Vietnam found it hard to find work because too many people had developed a hatred for them due to the war. Ten people became his victims and throughout his "career" as serial killer he taunted the police with letters. His first attempt of strangling her failed, so he forced her to walk downstairs in the basement. There he put a noose around her neck and hanged her from a pipe, leaving her partially undressed. He masturbated on her bare legs, leaving semen behind. After cleaning up the house a little bit he took the family's car and drove it to a nearby supermarket. What Rader didn't know is that the Oteros had three older children, who had already left the house that morning. Charlie, Daniel and Carmen were the ones that found their parents dead that afternoon. Rader's next victim was Kathryn Bright. He broke into her home and hid in the bedroom waiting for her to return home. Again something went wrong for Rader, and Bright returned home, accompanied by her younger brother Kevin. He surprised them and using his gun he forced Kevin to tie up his sister. Then he took Kevin in another room, trying to tie him up with material found in the home. Kevin got loose and Rader shot him twice in the head. Thinking Kevin was dead, Rader went on to work on Kathryn. She resisted heavily and instead of strangling her, he ended up stabbing her multiple times. During that time Kevin, who wasn't dead, fled the house and called for help. Rader was forced to leave the scene quickly, ran to his car, and drove off. Kathryn died in the ... • 21. Descriptive Essay About My Life I can see my short curls and round nose looking back at me in the reflection of the window while I listen to Spanish pop. Looking out, I see hundreds of people walking past each other, from teens dressed in jeans to adults in suits and blazers. There are nail salons, designer shoe stores, offices, all in the midst of these massive buildings. I'm on a DART train passing Downtown Dallas, on my way home from school. A few years ago, I didn't even know about the different rails, but now I know my way around the entire city without using Google Maps, something I'm a little proud of. I've used it to go to work at Bed Bath & Beyond, my chess tournaments, school, the mall, vegetarian restaurants, and anything in–between. The reason might be because I can't afford a car, my dad works all the time, and my sister took my mom's car to her tiny town of San Angelo for college, but it doesn't even matter because riding the train and running errands by myself has made me independent, plus it's eco–friendly. At home, my mom waits for me with one of my favorite meals ready– pozole. Of course I have to pick the meat out of it, but my mom just laughs and updates me of my sister's life on living on a cow farm. Just kidding. I still don't know why Angelo State appealed to her so much when we have grown up in the city but, it could not be me. His grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm laborers. When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to raise her three children with the help of her parents. • 29. The First Year Writing Program Throughout the semester, the first year writing program gave students the privilege to become improved writers. Students received the opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses and come to a conclusion on what makes favorable writing. While writing the assigned essays this semester, I realized being able to read and write about something that is relatable is extremely critical. When an individual can relate to what they are reading, they will be more engaged compared to reading a piece that fails to connect to them. Although the first year writing program succeeded in building up better writers, there is always room for improvement. The program could consider new pieces of work and content that is recent that students can form an opinion on and relate to. While writing, individuals should always keep in mind, honesty, personal experience, and sending a message. Incorporating these values into a paper results in a piece of writing that is relatable and clear to understand. Personal experience and examples provide a reasonable amount of evidence for a reader. This will show that the topic being written about can happen and impact any individual. Also, honesty is crucial when wanting to make a point about the topic being written about. Writing that sends a message is essential due to the fact that the reader can identify that the author is writing for a purpose and wants the reader to take away a lesson or idea from reading that piece. Believe it or not, these are all indicators of the demand for Family Resource Centers within our school systems. The mission statement of the resource centers may vary according to the area, but most followed the same concept. Growing up in a school system with Family Resource Centers, I must agree that they live up to their mission statement. They try to remove education barriers by offering tutoring, physical barriers by offering special education or medical assistance, and social barriers by providing students with anything to help them not stand out in the crowd. She demonstrates the importance of pictures in the mind of autisitc people and how powerful their visual skills can be. Another reason why I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism can accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn't be viewed as someone who can't do much or someone who doesn't have the skills and knowledge to do what normal people can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of ones who have autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn't necessarily mean that people don't have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People with autism are only stronger–willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple Grandin shows that it doesn't matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals, you just need that determination in your life. This is because every career in the medical field interests me. However, when I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several different science courses. I was happy with this because I always loved science. What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was always an area where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for my first semester at Wayne State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English 1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had to take. I promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into the Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have improved in each of the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing, researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling in this class. I had just left my final semester at Penn State a few weeks prior and regretting my decision not to take a year off before attending college, I decided to take this time to make up for it. I've been to several places in the few years I've had the privilege to travel, but watching thousands of pines rolling in and out of view took my breath away. • 47. The Social Impact Of A Protest At Kent State Shootings Another event that eroded support in the war and US Government occured during a protest at Kent State University. During a protest on May 4, 1970, twenty–nine National Guardsmen gathered at the university to oversee a Vietnam War protest. In the midst of the protest, the National Guardsmen fired into the crowd of protesters killing four people in the process (Gordon Page 35). This event sparked an enormous uprising from the public and "the event triggered a nationwide student strike that forced hundreds of colleges and universities to close" (Lewis). This strike had a huge social impact and through the constant strikes and protests that followed the shootings caused the US Government to lose the trust, respect, and support of many American citizens (Gordon Page 35). The Kent State shootings were also able to reach the international stage through the abundance of news broadcasts and songs following the shooting. Ohio, a famous song by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, focuses heavily on the Vietnam War and the Kent State shootings with lyrics stating, "Tin soldiers and Nixon coming. We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming. Four dead in Ohio" (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) as a direct reference to the Kent State tragedy. The live sporting event that I chose to observe was the 2015 Woman's Soccer Big West Conference championship game with Cal State Fullerton competing against Cal State Long Beach. The game took place on Sunday, November 8th at 1:00pm at Cal State Fullerton. This game is significant because it determines who wins the Big West and who qualifies for the NCAA tournament, so pressure on the players and intensity are very high. Throughout the game, I observed the game as a sport psychologist professional and observed the player's and coach's behaviors that relate to Sport Psychology. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The player's situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know where each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under pressure, thus moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational awareness was when the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be kicked during the attempted score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent to kick the ball and then reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped as the opponent was making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes who have good situational awareness, "always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone else." The goalie was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent because she had been in this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive edge, allowed her to make the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring any points. The second concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of arousal regulation strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or decrease arousal levels of a person (Weinberg & Gould, 2011). It is crucial for athletes to be aware of their psychological states so they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system "the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than $12.475 billion. Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities and is filled every semester. • 55. Personal Reflection Heading into the first semester of college, many students do not know what passion of theirs they want to pursue for the rest of their lives, let alone the steps to achieve a realistic way to follow it and ideally make a living doing so. However, when I began my first year at Minot State University, I knew I wanted to continue my journey in English, although, I did not know whether I wanted to lean towards education or, in a perfect world, become the editor of a newspaper. Coincidentally, my Honors' Community class' final project required choosing something to learn about, and simply, learning about it. Since I had already known about English education, being that I had been taught by them for more than a decade of my life, I chose to learn about the ins and outs of "Becoming an Editor." Doing so, I not only learned more about being the editor of a newspaper, but I also related more to the Honors' experience at MSU, reinforced my passions, and clarified my future. To begin, I addressed the project from three perspectives: a book, the Red and Green, and the Minot Daily News. First, I went to the MSU library and looked for recently–published books specifically about editing newspapers. I found four possibilities, checked them out, and skimmed them to see if they had the information I needed; only one book did so, Editing for Today's Newsroom by Carl Sessions Stepp, but it was exactly what I needed, so I started to read. The next perspective I used was the MSU ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I want to become a social worker because life isn't about just helping yourself it's about helping others as well, which is what social workers do for a living. • 59. Civic Engagement Reflection This semester for my civic engagement, I got the opportunity to work with WKAR. It is part of Michigan State University Broadcasting Services, a division of MSU Communication Arts & Sciences. It includes WKAR–TV, WKAR Radio, WKAR.org, Radio Reading Service, WKAR Ready to Learn Service and Interactive Video Services. During my time with them, I got the opportunity to work with Jennifer Preslar. She is the Event/Project Coordinator for their Public Media Department. The project that I'm currently work on is the Indie Lens Pop–Up, Screening of I Am Not Your Negro by James Baldwin. For this project, I've got the opportunity to help Jennifer with marketing and promoting, and securing guest speakers. Through out this essay I will further expand on my experience with WKAR, and what I have learned thus far. "The mission of MSU Broadcasting Services is to connect people to powerful ideas that inspire personal growth, exploration of our world and positive change." (WKAR). From what observed, everyone in the WKAR does their best to abide by the mission statement. Everyone in this environment works together, despite their position. The employees and my fellow interns, really created a welcoming and comfortable work environment. I also noticed that everyone can propose new civic engagement projects. For example, I was working with Jennifer and another intern came in and proposed a civic engagement idea and asked for Jennifer's help. Without hesitation Jennifer agreed to help her, and was ... • 61. The Btk Killer By Dennis Lynn Rader Dennis Lynn Rader was born on March 9, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. His mother, Dorothea Mae Cook, and father, William Elvin Rader, had three sons in addition to Dennis. In 1975, he married Paula Dietz, and they had one son and one daughter. Throughout his childhood, Dennis displayed signs of what he would become later in life. In reports, as well as his own confession, he tortured animals and had a fetish with women 's underwear. Dennis, also known as the BTK killer, had at least ten victims throughout his life. He became known as the BTK killer because of his modus operandi: bind, torture, kill. Dennis worked alone, and all of his murders occurred in and around Wichita, Kansas (Blanco). Dennis Rader began working for the home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His next murder did not occur until 1985 when he killed his neighbor Marine Hedge and left her body on the side of the road. The following year, authorities discovered Vicki Wegerle in her home. In 1991, Rader killed his final victim, Dolores Davis ("Dennis Rader"). BTK had a total of ten victims, most of whom were women. There was a lot of evidence that pointed to Rader as the BTK Killer. DNA from semen, as well as from underneath Vicki Wegerle's fingernails, matched Dennis Rader. Rader's writing style matched up to all of the letters and poems that BTK had sent to authorities and local newspapers. The payphone that he used to report a murder was only a few blocks away from his job at the time, which was at ADT. Many different pieces of evidence led back to Wichita State University, which he had attended in the 1970s. Photocopies had been made on campus, poems were similar to a song taught by one of the professors at the university, and BTK even asked Kevin Bright, the man who was shot and managed to survive, if he had seen him at the university. Rader was neighbors with one of his victims. He sent "trophies" to police along with his letters. Rader had many different jobs throughout the thirty years in which he was acting as BTK, and he worked for some of the same companies as his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. The Problem Of The Unhappy Valley Unhappy Valley Everyday humans are faced with dilemmas where they must decide on what considered right, and what is considered wrong. Whether they are fifty or five, all humans face situations like that. There are times when humans make the wrong decision thinking it 's right, or make the right decision, but it's wrong. When it comes to making decisions, older generations are held to a higher standard than younger generations. That is because they are expected to be responsible and have had to experience difficult life situations, younger generations are known and expected to make the wrong decisions constantly. But in some cases, adults will make that wrong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film spotlights the wrong decisions, and the justifications that come with them. Throughout the film, Bar–Lev introduces important key factors, like Sandusky's adopted son and victim, Matt, Joe Paterno's wife, two of his son 's, students of Penn State University in 2011, as well as researchers and historians involved with Penn State. Bar–Lev has them open up about their thoughts and feelings on the scandal to focus on how it affected them. Ideally he is affecting the audience's emotions, allowing them to feel as if they are a part of the story too. Likewise, he focuses on the events leading up to the scandal, the scandal, and the aftermath of the scandal. Bar– Lev likes to produce stories on the difficult and uncomfortable topics that are hard to talk about. He states in a recent interview, "I look for the stories that tweek society's nerves" (Bar–Lev). Happy Valley, being one of Bar– Lev's numerous documentaries, does not create an obvious opinion that he holds, instead leaving it up to the audience and their opinions. His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various modern art styles. In 1957 he tried his hand at Abstract Expressionism. What he is famous for though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling, are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact. These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was phenomenal. He has the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at London's Tate Gallery. • 67. Personal Reflection Of Gender And Language I first got my start in linguistics by accident. I did not foresee that one introductory linguistics class taken on a whim would change my life. What caught my attention the most was our unit on pragmatics and semantics. From that class, I've gone on to major in linguistics and even conduct my own research in the field. I was given the opportunity to participate on a research team analyzing children's acquisition of resultative adjectives. Our team ended up presenting at Eastern Michigan University's Undergraduate Symposium. We also submitted an application to the 11th Annual Cornell University Undergraduate Linguistic Colloquium, and were accepted to do an oral presentation. Since I am working on a senior thesis at the moment, I have also been conducting research of my own. I am studying the usage of the construction yeah, no and no, yeah. Though the process, I have learned a lot about how to conduct research and also how to write an academic thesis. My plans for graduate study are heavily influenced by the classes I have taken during my time in undergrad. As I mentioned before, I fell in love with pragmatics and semantics. Along with that, I found a passion for sociolinguistics. There are two classes in particular that have sparked my interest. The first was a class about women and language. Though it was titled women, it was really about the relationship between gender and language. We talked about linguistic stereotypes based on a person's gender and how they are ... He actually retired in 2005. In 2008 he came out of retirement and resumed his coaching position at Kansas State. He is one of very few who have retired and return to the same team he left. Even after having to rebuild a team twice he still maintained a .664 Pct. The contribution to football demonstrated by Bill Snyder proved beyond a doubt that the College Football Hall of Fame should induct this very dedicated coach. He is worthiness for this reward is shown in his achievements and awards, impact on the fallowing communities and even the sport its self, and skill as a coach. One reason why Bill Snyder deserves this reward is due to all of his achievements and rewards. Throughout his career he has received just about every major award that can be given to a coach. One that is probably one of his favorites is when he was named the 32nd and 34th head coach for Kansas State, which is a very rare occasion ("Bill Snyder kstatesports"). In spite of the total loss, the Principal found temporary class locations around campus, and classes continued on schedule. However, I would have to agree with the first half and say that Joe Paterno's actions were inadequate. Although Joe Paterno reported what he saw to the Penn State president his responsibility shouldn't have ended there. Yes, he fulfilled his obligation to report any illegal actions on campus but when the Penn State President chose not to take legal action Paterno should have made the moral decision and had gone to the authorities. Legally, he fulfilled his obligation and therefore no longer holds any responsibility in the eyes of the legal system. In the eyes of morality though, his responsibility in the matter was not over just because he reported it to who he was supposed to. This major problem should have been dealt with a long time ago. It's just a moral obligation that Joe Paterno should have acted upon. So yes I feel he deserved to be fired. Everyone who knew about it should have reported it to legal authorities. His great athletic achievements and mutual respect should have pushed towards the issue being resolved and not swept under the rug for it to come out years after and now resulting in him being fired. Every action has a reaction and in this case the reaction is due to Paternos lack of action. The child sex abuse scandal overall is a public relations disaster that the university is likely to be dealing with for years to come. I definitely don't believe this case was ...
