Procedures
I am going to greet my students and make a lovely comment about what a pleasure it is
to share classes together.
“Hello, children! It’s a pleasure to meet you”.
“How were you this week? Do you remember that you are working? Would you like us
to remember?”
First, we are going to review vocabulary about the family: what words do you
remember?
Then the teacher will put the following image on the board to refresh the basic
vocabulary of the family members and the scheme will be completed
3. After completing the words that they remember, the teacher will write the definitions that
they do not remember on one side and the students must choose in which part they
should be placed.
To finish we will orally review the terms to be able to continue with the class.
We are going to reinforce what was learned in previous class (Work spelling: capital
letter, question mark, exclamation mark).
Next, we will watch a video about the members of the family but first using the same
scheme we will practice the use of the questions:
- Who´s this? He is the father / she is the mother.
- How old is he? He´s thirty-four.
Activity 1:
Here the students will be able to practice the rules learned, using their observation,
listening and attention skills.
The activity consists first listening and watching the video. This will happen twice and
then the teacher will ask them to take note of what they understood and remember from
the video.
For example: brother – doctor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQLlxmqsVdc
Orally, the students will recount and discuss what each one heard and what words they
marked: what did I understand? what did you write?
To finish, the students will be given the transcript of the video and then they must mark
the following:
- capitalization: blue
- use of exclamation marks: yellow
- use of question marks: red
- unknown words: green
A- Is this your family?
B- Yes
A- Who´s this?
B- My brother
A- He´s so handsome!
B- How old is he?
A- He´s thirty-four
B- Oh!
A- He’s a doctor.
B- Oh!
A- That’s his wife.
B- Oh. She´s very pretty
A- Who´s this?
B- That´s my mother
A- Your mother? But she’s so old.
B- She’s not old. She’s fifty-eight
A- Ok
B- Who´s this?
A- Is he a doctor too?
B- No, he´s an architect. That my sister’s husband
A- Who´s this?
B- That my sister´s son. He’s a university student.
A- He’s so cute!
B- He´s so young
A- Who’s this short old woman? What?
4. B- That is not a short old woman. That´s me
A- Oh! Sorry
Transition: “Very good job children, now we continue working with the vocabulary of the
family”
Activity 2:
Here the students will practise reading and observing through a text.
The activity will be individual at the first to mark the words, but then we will work it in
groups and orally to see the mistakes or explain why. The idea is to generate interaction
and participation among all.
The activity consists of first completing the table located below, then asking questions
such as those previously learned. For example: Who's is this? she is Carla.
How old is she? She’s 20 years old.
To finish make sentences using "so" for exclamation. For example: She´s so beautiful.
To finish, each student will write a short fragment about their family, at the end they will
read it to their classmates.
