Introduction
According to Kirkpatrick and Weaver (2013) the capstone project strives to focus on the practice
that is the final project of the students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The
characteristics of the DNP capstone project describe either how a practice issue affects the particular
group, population, or community. The project also addresses how knowledge circulates through
translation or integration of evidenced–base practice. The capstone project provides a foundation for
future scholarship and reflects the student 's understanding of knowledge and expertise.
Furthermore, the capstone project addresses the academic product that reflects the student 's
involvement (Webb, 2014).
According to Campbell & Benn (2011) a capstone project includes identifying data as a problem in
an actual setting and developing the means to address it. A capstone project can either be research–
oriented or design–oriented. Resolutions of the project are usually collaborative and can result in the
implementation and utilization. Also identifying a clinically significant teaching, learning need
supported by the scientific literature is the priority of the capstone project. Individualizing the

Laboratory of Neural Systems, Decision Science, Learning and Memory (NSDSLM), also known as
the Mizumori lab, seeks to understand the plasticity mechanisms within neural systems that underlie
normal and pathological mnemonic functions. The principal investigator of this lab, and my primary
research mentor is Dr. Sheri Mizumori. Upon joining the Mizumori lab, I have been shadowing Dr.
Phillip Baker on his postdoctoral research project. He introduced me to laboratory research study
and facilitated in the progressive improvement of my comprehension in basic neuroscience research.
The initial study that I began working on with Dr. Baker was about lateral habenula's (LHb)
involvement in behavior switching when presented with a cue. The LHb is a structure identified for
its role in signaling negative outcomes or cues (Bomberg–Martin et al, 2011; Proulex et al, 2014). It
projects to dopaminergic, serotoninergic, and norepinephrine systems that are acknowledged to be
important when switches in behavior are required (Robbins and Arnsten, 2009; Lecourtier and
Kelly, 2007). My responsibilities in this study mainly included handling and training rats, recording
of rat behaviors through a series of sensors and robotic doors around the T–maze controlled by z–
basic, and evaluating data from training and testing rats in a tonal task. I also had an opportunity to

writing. Students develop writing skills in their own discipline or professional communities by

I for the first time created a strong covalent amide bond between TiO2 mesoporous films and N719
by chemically modifying TiO2 with 3–aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. The dye–sensitized solar cells
thus prepared were stable and more resistant to UV light, thermal stress, acid, and water when
compared to traditional photoanodes. There was a dramatic preservation of the SCN ligand of N719
on the TiO2 surface for up to 6 months, which is not possible in the case of other modified
photoanodes with dye attached non–covalently through electrostatic or hydrogen bonding

nanomaterials, quantum dots such as ZnS, CdS, electrodeposition of semiconductor oxide materials,
preparation methods for different shapes (nanowires, nanotubes, and tree–like structures) and sizes

I joined the Laboratory of Neural Systems, Decision Science, Learning and Memory (NSDSLM),
also known as the Mizumori laboratory on April 2015. Mizumori laboratory is a laboratory located
in the psychology department of University of Washington, Seattle. Its primary focus is to
understand the neural mechanism of natural and adaptive behaviors. Spatial navigation, a behavior
central for an animal's survival has remained the model under analysis in this laboratory. The
principal investigator of this lab, and my primary research mentor is Dr. Sheri Mizumori. Upon
joining the Mizumori laboratory, I have been shadowing the postdoctoral research associate of the
Mizumori laboratory, Dr. Philip Baker. He introduced me to laboratory research study and facilitated
in the progressive improvement of my comprehension in neuroscience research.
The initial study that I began working on with Dr. Baker was about lateral habenula's (LHb)
involvement in behavior switching when presented with a cue. The LHb is a structure identified for
its role in signaling negative outcomes or cues (Bomberg–Martin et al, 2011; Proulex et al, 2014). It

Teaching and Mentoring Experience
Teaching has been a fundamental component of my academic training. I have been actively involved
in teaching, tutoring, and mentoring high school and undergraduate research students throughout my
doctoral and postdoctoral work at the City University of New York (CUNY). I taught General
Chemistry (I & II) laboratory courses and recitation sections at CUNY for four years. I volunteered
as a physical chemistry tutor for undergraduate students from CUNY. At St. John 's College of
Liberal Arts and Sciences, my teaching assignment included a General Chemistry Laboratory course
that also involved a synergistic approach to conducting several laboratory sessions guided
simultaneously by two instructors.
Along with Dr. Ruth Stark and her graduate students at City College, I designed a curriculum for a
biophysics foundation course ("Touring the tomato: A suite of chemistry laboratory experiments")
geared for undergraduate and high school students seeking research experience through CUNY's
College Now program. The eight–module course introduces a panel of analytical techniques for
studying the structural properties of biopolymers obtained from an inexpensive source such as the
tomato fruit at increasingly detailed molecular levels. In its final phase, students design independent
research projects related to structural investigations of various biomaterials obtained from fruits and

Nail Color. The ad for Sally Hansen Insta–Dri Fast Dry Nail Color caught my eye because it uses an
intriguing analogous color scheme, of magenta and deep purple. The ad shows a female's hand with
nails that have shiny flashy fuchsia polish and she seems to be buckling her shoe. She has on a flirty
peep–toe purple heel and has uptempo purple nail polish on her toenails. The ad captives the reader
with its catch line of "Nail Color Newsflash. One Stroke. One Coat. Done." This slogan explains
that with one stroke of the brush that one will have full coverage of the nail polish on your nail. The

application, one–coat coverage, and that it dries in just 60 seconds. The ad shows the twenty– four

explains the peripheral route to persuasion and the central route. In the peripheral route, persuasive

One big challenge is always around the security of the patients' private data collected through those
