Instructional Setting, Audience, And Content Area
Introduction Currently, educators are faced with the controversy of reaching all learners. It is the
incumbency of educators to master differentiating instruction to create a possibility for all learners
to grow. Technology is a great resource to keep students engaged and motivated. It prepares them for
their future, yet reaches the diversity of learning styles. Instructional Setting, Audience, and Content
Area The instructional setting is an elementary school located in a middle class neighborhood.
Technological information will be presented to an audience of educators, administrators, specialist,
and instructional aids. Technologies for Learners with Disabilities Learning disabilities are
neurologically based processing problems that can interfere with higher–level skills such as
organization, time planning, abstract reasoning, long or short–term memory and attention. (Pardun,
2015) Students with dysgraphia, struggle with spelling words correctly, or taking notes and simply
need a shortcut through typing out the full word. Abbreviation expanders allow students of this
magnitude to create, store, and reuse abbreviations for frequently used words or phrases using Word
Processing. (Stanberry, 2010) It guarantees proper spelling of words and phrases the user has
programmed as abbreviations. Reading is an essential skill students should have in society. Word
identification aids are advantageous for students with decoding deficits. With a decoding deficit,

Improving Academic Outcomes in Mathematics Classrooms with Whiteboards
Introduction
Because resources are by definition scarce, it is important for educators in general and mathematics
teachers in particular to use the most effective teaching tools that are available. Many young people
entering the classroom for the first time today bring with them a valuable set of information
technology skills that can be used to good effect in improving academic outcomes. Likewise,
computer–savvy older students want and expect to find technological solutions in their classrooms.
One such solution that has been growing in popularity is the whiteboard, an interactive classroom
presentation system that allows teachers and students to interact in new ways that can improve
mathematics learning and facilitate classroom administration. To gain some fresh insights into the
ways that whiteboards can be used by mathematics teachers to improve academic outcomes, this
paper provides a review of the relevant peer–reviewed and scholarly literature, followed by a
summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Discussion Although mathematics has not changed, the manner in which it is taught has
changed in substantive ways in recent years that are far removed from rote memory drills and
traditional dusty chalkboards. As one mathematics educator emphasizes, "Chalkboards have come a
long way, haven't they? In the past, the standard writing surface in the mathematics

Integrating New Technology Into The Classroom
Schools are constantly looking for an edge that will help their students to succeed. One way that
schools accomplish this difficult task is by integrating new technology into the classroom. Often
times, the decision on which technology to incorporate is driven by trends rather than research.
Schools are always in the process of upgrading their technology, often looking at what everyone else
is purchasing and then following in their footsteps. Currently, one piece of hardware that many
school districts are investing money in is interactive whiteboards. These boards allow the teacher to
easily integrate technology into their classroom. With all of the money being spent on interactive
white boards, are they really an effective tool? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many advantages that a student who learns in a classroom with an interactive whiteboard
will experience. Students in the class enjoy learning while using the board because it increases their
enjoyment and motivation in the lesson. Students today have grown up with technology and enjoy
being a part of it, whether it is watching it or interacting with it. "Children of the 21st century have
been part of a multi–media world from birth, and as a result they are comfortable with such
technologies and this experience can be exploited in the learning environment." (Hall & Higgins,
2005, p. 106) Students are also more willing to participate in class when there is an interactive white
board. One reason for this is that students enjoy touching the board and manipulating objects. Most
students are familiar with technology and find some of the activities on the board similar to video
games that they are accustom to playing. Students who are at the board have the opportunity to
interact with concepts being taught and this interaction, can lead to classroom discussion. Students
want to be apart of what they are learning and feel that their thoughts are valued, one way for this to
happen is through open classroom discussion. When a student feels as if they have an opinion of
what is being learned instead of just being handed the information from the teacher, they experience
an increase in motivation in their learning process.

the class is normally peaceful. During class, she often tries to relate the vocabulary to the students.

School Contextual Factors That Influence Instruction
1.1.1: Community, District, School Contextual Factors That Influence Instruction a. One community
factor I would address is the diversity. In the contextual factors chart I reported that the area of these
students come from are not diverse at all and is predominantly white. My chart state that there are
85% white that attend this school. To teach my classroom about diversity I will use this knowledge
to have some lessons about diversity. Since they are preschoolers it will not be as easy getting them
to understand the context of the lesson, but I can teach majority of my subject area using diversity.
For example I will read a book in their level called Bright, Eyes Brown Skin so will know there are
people out there with different color skin, hair, eyes, and etc. This will also help our classroom
community because teaching the students any races can be friends and we can come together as one
is a big factor. b. For my chosen district factor from my contextual factor chart I am choosing to
focus on the total enrollment. Since there is over 25,000 students enrolled in the district that makes
the class sizes very large. A great method I will use for my class is centers. We can have center 3
times out the day, so the kids can meet with me either one on one or small groups at least three times
a day. In center I will have an art center so the kids can practice their ABC'S, their name, and other
art activities. I will have a dramatic play center so they can learn to be engage

The effectiveness of HCI can also be measured by doing tests on that HCI to see how much errors it
has, and after doing tests if the results show that it has a lot of errors then that HCI will not be a very

with the HCI, but if there are not that much errors then it can be known as an effective HCI, because
the user can use it effectively without having to troubleshoot. The effectiveness of HCI can be
measured by the understanding of the user and to what extent the user has the knowledge and
understanding of the HCI. If it seems as though that the user does not have the understanding of the

The Negative Effects Of Technology In Schools
This paper explores the addition of technology in schools and effects it has on students. The purpose
of the research was to reveal that the positives of adding technology outweigh the negatives.
Technology has the power to enhance learning for students and to overall create a better learning
experience for everyone. This is proven by showing examples of schools that have already
implemented technology in the classroom and the positive results that came with it, as well as the
negatives and worries many people have with technology, and how to avoid it. Overall the research
has shown that students have a better time learning with the addition of technology, and that
negatives of technology can be easily avoided. In today's society, technology plays a major role in
the way people operate in their daily lives. It is being used as a tool for people to improve their
surroundings by having quick and easy access to a large amount of information anytime they want.
With the rapid growth, schools and teachers around the world have implemented many different
forms of technology to enhance student interest and achievement. This has entered into teaching
methods such as online testing, online reading assignments, research information and many others.
The use of technology in school nowadays has become inevitable, but some may argue that this
increased use has harmed the development and learning of the students. Given that the positives of
technology outweigh the negatives;

My Characteristics Of Being A Good Teacher
Introduction
4 weeks, 6 classroom observations, 10 teaching practices, 2 conversation facilitations, 1 one v. one
private teaching session, multiple homework assignments, and numerous lesson plans later – all
totaling to 140+ hours of hard work – and here I am at the finish. This is experience was demanding
and challenging to say the least, in a positive way. I learned so much and experienced the EFL
teaching world first–hand. I played on my strengths as an educator and worked through my

evolved my classroom control and rapport with students.
What is a good teacher?
It's easy to become a mediocre teacher. To be a good, even great, teacher is hard work and
dedication. Maria Orlando gives 9 characteristics of a great teacher, here are just a few I agree with:
a teacher who respects students, creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom, has
his/her own love for learning and growing, continuously collaborates with other educators, and
maintains professionalism in all areas. Adding onto this list with a few of my own characteristics I
possess are: a teacher who is pleasant to be around, sensitive to the students needs/feelings,
enthusiastic, hardworking, committed, driven, and organized. To become a great teacher, I intend on
continuing to work hard and stay committed to my goal. Even when I think I've reached my
destination, I will continue to find new ways to

Coming Into The Math Activity Essay
Coming into the math activity, I was expecting the activity to go smoothly. I figured the students
would be able to solve multiplication problems easily and would need very little, if any help. I
figured they would be able to follow instructions. That's exactly what happened for the third graders,
but for the younger ones we had to switch to addition instead of multiplication. Overall, it was a
very pleasant activity and it taught me a lot about how children today are learning when it comes to
mathematics. Kids Count threw us a big curveball when they told us we wouldn't be getting only
third graders because after all, our activity was designed for third graders. We decided to do addition
for younger students instead. For one group, we had to implement that. For another group, we had
all third graders and one second grader. She didn't know multiplication so I had to explain to her that
multiplication is adding up numbers. For a problem like 11x5, we added 11x5 times to get 55. I
wanted her to write out the answer and work it out herself with the whiteboard but I realized I
couldn't do that– the third graders were getting antsy and were shouting out the answer when they
knew they weren't supposed to because they were tired of waiting. I knew then I had to I had to
write it out while she did the math either in her head or on her finger and make it easy for her. I
would say what's 11+11, she'd say 21 and I would say add another 11 and so on until we got the

The Technological Developments Of The 21st Century
The technological developments of the 21st century have led to the creation of a modern society
within which technology is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Technologically speaking, interactive
whiteboards connect a computer to a data projector and displays the image projected from the
computer onto a large screen. Interactive Whiteboards(IWBs) have eight main features: drag and
drop; hide and reveal; colour, shading and highlighting; multimedia visualisation; multimedia
presentation; manipulation of objects from other technologies and software; movement of
animation; and indefinite storage and quick retrieval of material. (De Vita, et al., 2014). It is these
features that enable IWBs to be an effective contributor to learning and teaching in the classroom
environment. The National Numeracy Strategy describe interaction as being a two way process in
which pupils are expected to play an active part in and that teaching is oral, interactive and lively.
(Wood & Ashfield, 2008) This is fundamental to Vygotskys' social constructivist view of teaching.
Interactive whiteboard use in primary and secondary schools promotes pupil interest, more sustained
concentration and more effective learning where teachers are aware of the ways in which such
technology can be used to support a variety of learning styles. (Glover and Miller 2001–2003, as
cited in (Miller, et al., 2005)) This is why the UK government has allocated over £50 million for the
phenomenon that is Interactive

Integrating Technology into Classrooms
Technology is an ever changing feature in education. In order for technology to be effective there
are many things that need to coordinate together. I will discuss some the major topics of integrating
technology into classrooms. I will also have some insight into how schools have changed over the
years and what I see now in the classroom.
In my three years of teaching I have already seen many changes to the technology that we use. I
think that traditional media could be defined a couple different ways, whether we talk about the very
beginnings of technology to technology that was used five years ago, either could be considered
traditional. Newspapers, radios, and television could be considered as the first medias that could
connect students to people and happenings outside of the classroom. These connections are what I
think stimulate students' minds.
The internet came along in the early 90's and really revolutionized students' abilities to connect with
people outside of the classroom. (Graber, 2012). I first remember getting Facebook towards the end
of high school and that has sparked the age of social media. Now students can reach information,
blogs, and social media from their phones! I think the role of traditional media has encouraged
students' ability to learn from multiple mediums outside of the classroom. Not everything has been
positive from technology, but because of it students have all the opportunities they could ask for to
learn.
According to Graber (2012), the

An Effective Strategy For Increasing Student Learning
The purpose of this research project was to determine whether or not using individual whiteboards
in mathematics is an effective strategy for increasing student learning. A common theme in the
subject of mathematics is the requirement of students using a pen and pencil to fill out a worksheet
that encompasses a list of problems for them to solve. However, this practice becomes monotonous
and boring for the students which ultimately negatively impacting their engagement. Therefore, a
formative assessment tool like the individual whiteboard can be implemented to spark engagement.
Whiteboards are easily accessible and a change of pace in the everyday classroom. They are an
operative tool for teachers to implement in their classroom. It was ... Show more content on

Nonetheless, individual whiteboards are still an effective formative assessment tool.
Brookhart summarized formative assessment by mentioning two key elements. She expressed that it
informs teaching practice and guides instructional decisions based on the information that formative
assessment provides. Brookhart also mentioned that students can receive scaffolding as a result of
formative assessment which ultimately improves their learning and academic achievement (2007, p.
43). It is important to note that formative assessment is not a one–time test. Rather, it is a sequence
of checking for understanding that directs instruction to assist student's needs. The core purpose of
formative assessment is to improve student learning, thus Clark (2010) suggests that "it is the
conception of teaching as an art and the adaptation of teaching methods to meet needs in practical
settings that is of fundamental importance when considering how to further student learning" (p.
342). Hence, to further student learning, formative assessment must be used and be used accurately.
Clark (2010) lists several methods in her book, but one important element is feedback and how that
aids in the meta–cognition process for students. She explained that learners have to be supported in
their meta–cognition skills as they need to be challenged to think about their thinking (p. 342–344).
One way to provide immediate feedback to the

Observation Of My Mentor Teacher's Math Lesson Plan
On September 25th, 2017, I observed my mentor teacher's math lesson plan. Since math is
scheduled from 12:00 to 1:05 in her classroom, this lesson was about 50 minutes to one hour long.
Being a first grade classroom with around 24 students in it, the Common Core math standard for this
lesson was 1.OA.B.4 – Understand subtraction as an unknown–addend problem. For example,
subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8. Her learning object was Tell
put together with result unknown, add to with result unknown, and add to with change unknown
stories from equations. My mentor teacher did not have a student target for the lesson. However, I
believe that a student–friendly objective would be a great way to enhance the curriculum. It would
encourage communication between students and parents but most importantly, help the students
focus their thinking. My practicum classroom is not as goal–oriented as I would prefer and I think
an I can statement such as "I can use what I know about addition facts to help me answer subtraction
fact problems" would fit nicely into this lesson plan. To begin, my mentor began with an activity
called Ten and Tuck. Each student sat on the carpets in the front of the classroom as she explained
the activity. Each student began by holding up 10 fingers and would tuck fingers away determined
by what number my teacher said. Then, they would say the number sentence aloud every way
possible. From this activity that measured a previously

The Use Of Computer Technology In Computer Science
INTRODUCTION
The use of computer technology in computer science fields dates back to the 80s, but recent years
have seen the two become almost completely dependent on one another. Many computer scientists
rely on computer software in order to ensure accuracy in their projects. Similarly, many new
software development projects keep computer applications in mind during their development. Young
computer scientists looking to put themselves on the fast track to success would benefit greatly from
learning computer technology and science applications relevant to their field.

classroom or meetings by simultaneously mixing several communication technologies. For example,
web conferencing software such as GoToTraining, WebEx Training or Adobe Connect enables
students and instructors to communicate with each other via webcam, microphone, and real–time
chatting in a group setting. Participants can raise hands, answer polls or take tests. Students are able
to whiteboard and screencast when given rights by the instructor, who sets permission levels for text
notes, microphone rights and mouse control.
A virtual classroom provides the opportunity for students to receive direct instruction from a
qualified teacher in an interactive environment. Learners can have direct and immediate access to
their instructor for instant feedback and

The Positives And Effects Of Technology In Schools
This paper explores the adding of technology in schools and effects it has on students. The purpose
of the research was to reveal that the positives of adding technology outweigh the negative.
Technology has the power to enhance the learning for students and overall create a better learning
for everyone. By showing examples of schools that have already implemented technology in the
classroom and the positive results that came with it. As well as the negatives and worries many
people have with technology, and how to avoid it. Overall the research has shown that students have
a better time learning with the adding of technology and the negatives of technology can be easily
avoided. In today's society, technology plays a major factor in the way people operate in their daily
lives. Technology is being used as a tool for people to improve their surroundings. People having
quick and easy access to a large amount of information anytime they want. With the rapid growth of
technology, schools and teachers around the world have implemented many different forms of
technology to enhance student interest and achievement. This has entered into teaching methods
such as online testing, online reading assignments, research information and many others. The use of
technology in school nowadays has become inevitable, but some may argue that the increase use of
technology has harmed the development and learning of the students. This leaves people wondering

Whiteboard Research Paper
Abstract
The purpose of the assignment is to determine if Interactive White Boards enhance teaching and
learning for teachers and their students. According to research, two–thirds of all teachers feel they
are not at all prepared to incorporate technology into their teaching. This is a distressing discovery
because this means that sixty–six percent of our teachers, who we rely on for intellectual leadership,
and forthcoming high–tech comprehension, are not at all technologically embellished. The
comforting fabrication that we tell ourselves is that we are coming into a new era where
technologically debilitated teachers will soon be retiring, and will be replaced by youthful,
technologically literate educators. However, recent surveys have found that young teacher's self–
assessment of their ability to teach with technology showed no sign of improvement from ... Show

Do you believe you are able to learn better when a whiteboard is used in the classroom?
"Students who responded affirmatively mentioned that they felt they learned better because the
visual aspects of the whiteboard made it easier to understand what the teacher was teaching. They
also mentioned that, when the teacher used the whiteboard, the lessons were much more interesting.
For example, one student stated, "It makes me pay attention to the teacher more. When the teacher
just stands up there and talks, I get easily distracted (Beeland Jr., 2001)."
3. Does having the opportunity to touch and interact with the board affect your learning? Why or
why not?
"All students responding to this question, except one, mentioned that the use of touch affected their
learning in a positive way. One student stated, "Yes, I get into learning when it's hands–on. When I
just listen, I don't understand as well." Other students mentioned that touching the board made their
learning experiences more fun and interesting. One student did comment, "It really doesn't do
anything. I still learn about the same (Beeland Jr.,

Children 's Early Learning Center
For my observation I was able to visit a local pre–school. The Children's Early Learning Center. The
preschool is located just a few miles from my home at 3135 S. Florida Ave. Lakeland, FL. This is a
private school that has just started a summer program for students getting ready to attend
kindergarten. The classroom consisted of 18 children 4–5 years old. They will all be 5 on or before
September 1st 2016. There were also two adults in the room the teacher as well as the assistant
teacher. The school has infants to 5 year olds with one infant room with 8 infants, two 1 year old
rooms with 8 children, two 2 year old rooms with 8 children, 3 year olds two rooms one with 7
children and one with 10, and the two VPK rooms of 18 children in each room. The school has 30
staff members it seemed consisted 1 teacher and two assistants in each room as well as assistants
that floated from room to room, as well as a nutritional staff, the director, and assistant director.
The Philosophy of this program is to encourage, enrich social skills, self–esteem, respectfulness, and
creativity. Families are encourage to attend the classroom and see what the children are learning.
The school also invites families to special events created through the year. The curriculum is
strongly focused on life skills, reading, and mathematics.

Math Lesson Reflection
Going into my math lesson, I was nervous. Not about the material because I love the subject at hand
but, I didn't really know the students in the way that I would've wanted to know them. I would've
felt more comfortable if I had worked with them all in math before this less. I knew their
mathematics levels because I have seen the worksheets that they have worked on in the previous
classes. I knew what two of them struggled in before teaching this lesson. What I was nervous about
was the fact that, I didn't know how they would act towards my teaching. I also was scared that my
material would be too tough for my students. When I first was getting ready for my lesson, I picked
out a topic that we have been working on during class. Then I started to look at the different
standards. Once I looked more into the topic at hand, I decided that I needed to make this lesson as
enjoyable as I could, especially if this was my first of many lessons with these particular students. I
decided to bring in some activities that I personally enjoyed when I was younger. With space that we
had in the smaller classroom, I decided to bring in manipulates into the mix with the portable
whiteboards. I tend to use a more kinesthetic and visual approach to my teaching because this is the
best way I have learned in the past. I also have noticed that Heather and Dakota need that extra
visual in order for a concept to stick with them. I know this because when I have worked with those

The Education Process Of Elementary School Students
Knights Interactive Systems Present: Project Presented by: Nick Leyva
9/11/14
1.1 Project Summary
The goal of this project is to help advance the education process of elementary school students. A lot
of schools have adapted to the use of interactive white boards (IWBs). And while these IWBs do a
good job bringing interactivity to the classroom, our product, the KiD–35 takes interactivity to the
next level! The KiD–35 is a state of the art interactive desk that every student will be able to use
during class. The teacher of the class controls the desk's software so that the students will be focused
on the task at hand. I believe that at the young age of the students and the interactivity aspects of this
desk will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The transition for teachers is also made quite easily by introductory demos provided with the desks
when they are delivered. If a teacher can operate a smart phone, they will be able to use the KiD–35.
1.3 Project Analysis
We believe IWB's were a very good step in interactive education. However, they have many flaws
that the KiD–35 will approve upon.
Traditional IWB's have need the child to get out of their seat in class to interact with the board, not
every student gets the some amount of interaction with the board. (Deubel, 2010)
Many teachers using the IWB's do not change the method in which they use the board. So if the
assignments seem repetitive, students lose interest.
In our target market, many traditional IWB's are too large for elementary school students to use.
[See photo below.]
Some children are just plain shy and do not want to come in front of the class to work in front of
their classmates. (Interactive White Board, n.d.)
Here is how the KiD–35 counteracts the flaws of the IWB's:
The KiD–35 will be accessible by every child in the class; all of the students receive the same
amount of interaction time with the desks.
Teachers will have access to thousands of applications to always keep the learning environment
fresh.
The KiD–35's are specifically designed for our target demographic, which makes them much more
usable than larger IWB's.
The ability to have a message like "Great Job!" or "Good Work" after a correct answer is given can

Technology And Its Effects On Our Classroom Essay
Technology In Classrooms When people walk into a classroom and a teacher is up front lecturing,
all they see are heads down on desks. As they walk around people are sleeping and doodling things
like "I love you", and writing their names 1000 different ways. The room makes someone feel like
they are standing in a funeral home. It is boring and no one pays any attention, and anyone could
notice that when there is dried drool on the desks for the next class. Not all classrooms are bland
though. If someone would walk into a room with technology being used, such as computer
interaction, powerpoint presentations, and upbeat music that teaches students a fun way to
remember conjunctions, there is a lot less drool on the desks. There is much more interaction in that
type of environment, because students are tired of being lectured for seven hours a day, five days a
week and want a new and interesting learning technique. Schools need to have technology in all
their classrooms, so students stay interested and involved. No one likes to take notes the same way
everyday. "Okay everyone please take out your notebooks and pencil for notes today," says every
teacher, always. Hand cramps, sloppy handwriting that later can't be read when someone is trying to
study, and unorganization. Gregory Hamel states, "Using laptops for the purpose of note taking can
be very beneficial, since a strong typist can record notes much faster than writing by hand." When
students take notes on paper,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Technology In The...
There are so many ways to integrate technology into your lessons. It is not always possible due to
the lack of money and time but as teachers we can always implement some ways to help achieve our
goals. Technology is very important in the real world and we constantly need to seek for new ways
to change how our learners learn to help them succeed during their school years. Let us look at some
simple ways to integrate technology into our classroom and lessons.
The first way we are looking at is the morning check in using an interactive whiteboard. "Morning
check in" allows the teacher to know which learners are present and what their plans are for break
time. Having the learners to raise their hands and check every one individual is time consuming and
waste a lot of valuable time. Create a Notebook file and take a picture of every learner and post it in
this file. Every morning the learners can drag their photo to show that they are present. This allows
the learners to use the interactive whiteboard and give them a sense of responsibility. Using
recording equipment is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As teachers we do not always have control of what can happen unexpectedly in the classroom or
during a lesson. With the use of educational technology we need to be aware of what can go wrong
at any stage. Let us look at some advantages and disadvantages of using technology in our lessons.
One of the greatest advantages of technology is to prepare the learners for the future. It is without
question that our learners need to know how to use technology as part of their school years and later
in their careers. It is also a way to increase student engagement and motivation. Technology allows
teachers and student to explore the internet and discover new parts of the word and obtaining useful
information for their tasks. All the learners can be actively involved by using the computers and

Course Evaluation For Cap 141c
Course Evaluation for CAP 141C – Dr. Alvarez
I will begin my course evaluation by stating that I am only anticipating on obtaining an A or high–B
in this class due to the fact that I only learned the course material through self–teaching. I did not
obtain any knowledge of the course material from Dr. Alvarez's lectures. This is largely due to the
fact of her grotesque teaching style. In order to further explain how her teaching style impeded on
my, and several others', education of the course material, I have provided several examples of what
Dr. Alvarez has done during class. These examples below are in no particular order:
Throughout the first few class periods of Dr. Alvarez teaching, she began to take note of complaints
from class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, this eliminates any claim that the classroom is at fault for students not seeing what is
displayed on the whiteboard. Students with poor eyesight moved up to the front of the classroom
and still experienced a difficult time in attempting to decipher Dr. Alvarez's handwriting. Therefore,
the only logical argument that could be presented as to why the students kept interrupting in order to
ask what, exactly, is written on the whiteboard is due to Dr. Alvarez's atrocious handwriting. With
this constant interruption, it was highly difficult for Dr. Alvarez to complete the lecture within the
given timeframe of the class. I, personally, have quite poor handwriting. Therefore, if I was given
the opportunity to instruct a class and I had the technology in the classroom to present some sort of
PowerPoint, it would only make logical sense to use that technology to, not only my, but the
students' advantage. The students would then be able to read what I am displaying while I am further
explaining what is being displayed, as opposed to the students attempting to decipher my poor
handwriting throughout the entirety of the class. This is just one example of Dr. Alvarez's several
attempts at different teaching styles. She must have eventually given up on trying to change her
teaching style as she eventually reverted to her original teaching style.
The teaching style which Dr. Alvarez used for the majority of her

Teacher Reflection Essay
B. Morning routine was done with attendance, I assisted student to do it correctly as students are
still learning how to do their different jobs in the classroom, as well as assisting with lunch count.
Students pulled homework out and the teacher and I made sure they did it correctly and explained to
students that may have graphed word count wrong or had questions.
C. Every student had a copy of a book "We Camp". As a class, we read the book having the students
point to the words as we read out loud together. I walked around the class making sure students were
following along as they should. The teacher discussed text evidence and had student find examples
throughout the story.
D. I was able to teach phonics and blending to students on the whiteboard. I would write a letter on
the whiteboard and have the class say its sound when I pointed to it, when we got to the vowel we
would blend it together, then I would finish writing the word, then the class would say the word fast
out loud. I would call on a student and ask if they knew the definition and expanding when needed.
Teaching constant, vowel, constant (CVC) to the students explaining it is like an Oreo cookie or a
sandwich. Circling the vowel and showing students how we mark short sounds over letters as well
as long sounds and demonstrating with the words we had on the whiteboard.

How Technology Changed Education Essays
How Technology Has Changed Education
Today's education differs much from the education fifty years ago. One of the reasons they are so
different is because of technology. In the past fifty years the world of technology has grown
tremendously, affecting everything, including education. A few things that have been brought into
the world of education are computers, video and digital equipment such as DVDs, digital cameras
and recording devices. The technology also includes information presentation technologies which
includes the Smart Board, and different interactive whiteboards. There are many more that schools
did not have fifty years ago. Technology has been proven to help students achieve in reading,
writing, and arithmetic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, students who learn better by listening can understand more fully with audio and videos
shown on the board. (Bell ) For visual learners, students can watch as the lesson develops across the
board. Research has shown that students of all ages respond well to interactive white boards. With
everyone loving the boards so much, students will jump at every chance to use the board. Interactive
Whiteboards make kids want to learn. It makes them more willing to listen and focus on the lesson.
Fifty years ago, classrooms didn't have this kind of technology. Classrooms only had black boards or
white boards. (Bell ) In 1992, Intel Corporation became an investor in the idea of Smart Boards. At
first, not many people thought of them as a good idea, but slowly people became more used to the
idea. Since then, more than 100,000 Smart Boards have been produced and sold. Since they were
first produced, there have been many advances in technology, thus creating more variations of the
Smart Board. The earliest models were front projection boards, rear projection boards, in–wall rear
projection boards, the SMART notebook, and other useful software. ("Wikibooks.Org") Since
advances in technology have been made, the more recent models include the SMART Recorder,
meeting productivity software, a wireless slate, the Senteo response system, SMART camera, and
the 600i interactive system. The average price for SMART Board ranges around

Using Resources in the Lifelong Learning Sector Essay
The Oxford dictionary online defines the word resource as, "A stock or supply of money, materials,
staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function
effectively". If we apply this definition to teaching and learning resources, it can be argued that
resources are central to the learning process and an absolute necessity for the teacher in planning
and delivering effective sessions and the leaner in achieving their learning targets. The aim of this
paper is to critically analyse the use of teaching and learning resources within my role as a Lecturer
and Facilitator in the Lifelong Learning Sector and review the benefits and limitations of different
resources in the delivery of inclusive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There may also be issues with large groups where students may be sat at an angle to the board.
Teachers must be wary of falling into the trap of over reliance and over use of white and
blackboards however. This can lead to monotony in sessions and a decrease in leaner motivation.
When a teacher overuses the white/blackboard lessons will naturally take a dictatorial style as the
boards are almost always situated beside the teacher's desk. A teacher should try to keep sessions
and delivery methods as varied as possible to keep sessions interesting and the students engaged.
Nevertheless, these instruments of learning still command a firm place in most educational setting.
Despite their limitations, the magnitude of their benefits means that these visual boards are an
invaluable tool for teachers. There are a plethora of resources available to teachers, even more so
now as we fully embrace the age of technology, however, the relevancy and effectiveness of any
teaching resource can and will differ from subject to subject. Even within the same subject, a
resource that is effective for one learner may not be appropriate for another. With the onset of
emergent technologies and the range of courses now available in the LLS, the traditional classroom
board has taken a back foot in many learning areas. Indeed Armitage et al (2003: 117) refers to
exiting times in teaching and learning with the advent

Lesson Plan For A Small Group Of Three First Grade,...
LESSON PLAN
CONTEXT
This lesson is designed for a small group of three first–grade, classified English language–learning
(ELL) students. The students are ages six– through eight–years–old and are in a first grade
classroom. They spend 90% of their time in the regular classroom, and the other 10% outside of the
classroom receiving instruction from the ESOL teacher. All three of these students are female, two
of which are Latino and the other of Arabic descent. Only one of the Latino girls was born outside of
the United States, and the other two students were U.S. born. They attend Andrew Jackson
Elementary School in South Philadelphia. The two Latino students have gone to Jackson from the
time they were in Kindergarten, while the Arabic student entered Jackson this year after the school
year had already begun. All three of these children are below grade level in all content areas,
especially literacy. In terms of this lesson, math is the content area being addressed. The concepts of
less than, greater than, and equal to will be taught. Prior to this lesson, the students have learned
how to count and label their numbers 0 through 100. They have worked briefly with $#$#1$#$#
lines and understand the cardinality of numbers.
DESIRED RESULTS
In this lesson, I am trying to accomplish teaching the students the key concepts of less than, greater
than, and equal to. I want them to understand that each number holds its own value and that a

Benefits Of Art Club In School
Does your school offer a variety of clubs, classes, and activities? Most schools do. Some clubs at my
school are Nerd Herd, Theater club, French club, and art club. Some of the classes are drama, art,
Spanish, French, and career investigation. Some activities are soccer, basketball, football, and
school dances. One of these that students enjoy is art club. Students enjoy art club because it's fun,
it's a stress reliever, and they get to hang out with friends. Students enjoy art club because it's fun.
One way that art club is fun is that students get to do whatever they want, on certain projects. A way
that students get to do whatever they want is that they may put flowers on their project and someone
else may put robots on theirs. There are really cool projects to do, and if students like art than they'll
love to do these projects! One of these projects is ice dyeing. Last year in art club we ice dyed T–
shirts and pillowcases. Ice dying is like tie dying, in the way that they both diy the fabric, and
students certainly don't diy anything in a regular art class. Another example is a chalk board. Last
year in art club we made small chalk boards with whatever we wanted on them. None of the chalk
boards were the same, they were all different. Some of them had flowers while others were stained.
The last reason why art club is fun is that last year we had a party at the beginning and end of the
year. At the meeting before each party each student signed up to bring in a type of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Technology In Teaching
Introduction It is no doubt that most people are afraid to change. However, they said "the only thing
unchanged is change itself," which I find quite true. People need to adjust themselves and try to
adopt new things, no matter they want or not. It is the same when talking about teaching English to
speakers of other languages. Students are different nowadays. They are greatly exposed to new
inventions and technologies. Therefore, if teachers stick to the traditional ways of teaching and do
not change at all, soon or later they will be eliminated, if not completely, at least to a certain degree.
Technology plays an important role in modern life. It has an impact on almost every field of life and
it influences teaching as well with no doubt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conclusion Technology or CALL (Computer–Assisted–Language–Learning) is meant to supplement
face–to–face language instruction, but not to replace it. Therefore, I believe that teachers shouldn't
get rid of traditional blackboard. In the future, I will try to combine using technology and
blackboard properly and efficiently because it is sad to find that some students now are even lack of
ability to calculate simple figures. This is because technology is abused by some teachers and
students. When the society cares only about how to use calculators or computers, the importance of
students' mental development will be jeopardized. Furthermore, technology will become a
disadvantage for some students, who cannot afford computers at home. In this case, to be familiar
with technology is just something difficult for them. Therefore, although technology does help with
TESOL to a certain degree, teachers should take all students into consideration during the process of
deciding what technology to adopt to help with their English

The Importance Of Designing A Program Proposal
When designing a program proposal, it is important to understand the specific resources that are
required when going forward and implementing any type of program. For example, if the resources
are too expensive and too challenging to obtain, the program will not succeed. For instance, within
our private practice at Gastroenterology Associates, the educational program being carried out is
impacted by the new quality reporting requirements called MIPS. The main goal of our program is
to educate the physicians and the administrators in order to provide the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid with the most efficient quality data to receive the maximum amount of reimbursements. In
order to perform efficiently, there are several resources that ... Show more content on

During each week an important topic will be discussed such as quality measures, improvement
activities, advancing care opportunities, the MIPS point system, grades of reimbursement, etc. The
next step is to incorporate the minor resources to help the program run more efficiently. These
resources include a conference room where the meetings will take place and a projector with a
screen that includes the correct cables in order to connect the computer too. The projector will
display informative PowerPoints, videos, and other factual pieces to teach the other members.
Consequently, before the information can be presented during the weekly meetings, the President
will have to review all the data and give his official approval. Fortunately, these tools are already in
our possession so there will be no additional cost or time needed. The next resource is to purchase a
large whiteboard with dry erase markers in order to draw graphs, diagrams, etc. to help the visual
learners understand the full concept. The whiteboard would be an additional cost for our
organization ranging close to $600 and it will take a few days to be delivered. The whiteboard will
be on wheels, making it portable and will not require a cost to be hung up on a wall. Other resources
include MIPS printouts and worksheets to help the individuals fully comprehend the topic, which
will cost our organization a few

felt the despair of these people. The "direct experience" provided by that program was memorable
for all participants. Did it help students collect information and form opinions? Yes! Students had no
trouble expressing themselves following the program.
5 Interactive whiteboards produce very similar motivation. According to research conducted by
Bell (1998), "Answers to open–ended questions indicated that students were more involved,
attentive, and motivated when lessons were offered using the board rather than using other teaching
methods." Furthermore, Jamerson (2002) suggests that special needs students and students with
different learning styles were positively affected by the use of the interactive whiteboard in the
classroom. Every student wanted to write his/her responses on the interactive whiteboard.
Observations of Rod Smith and Shane Penrose supported the use of multi–media to improve
attention and achievement. They and their students used a shared LCD projector for PowerPoint
presentations, internet resources, video streaming, and to play review games. Both teachers reported
that student motivation to participate in class greatly increased when technology was integrated into
instruction. There was a large achievement gap within our school between non–minority students

  • 13. Integrating New Technology Into The Classroom Schools are constantly looking for an edge that will help their students to succeed. One way that schools accomplish this difficult task is by integrating new technology into the classroom. Often times, the decision on which technology to incorporate is driven by trends rather than research. Schools are always in the process of upgrading their technology, often looking at what everyone else is purchasing and then following in their footsteps. Currently, one piece of hardware that many school districts are investing money in is interactive whiteboards. These boards allow the teacher to easily integrate technology into their classroom. With all of the money being spent on interactive white boards, are they really an effective tool? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many advantages that a student who learns in a classroom with an interactive whiteboard will experience. Students in the class enjoy learning while using the board because it increases their enjoyment and motivation in the lesson. Students today have grown up with technology and enjoy being a part of it, whether it is watching it or interacting with it. "Children of the 21st century have been part of a multi–media world from birth, and as a result they are comfortable with such technologies and this experience can be exploited in the learning environment." (Hall & Higgins, 2005, p. 106) Students are also more willing to participate in class when there is an interactive white board. One reason for this is that students enjoy touching the board and manipulating objects. Most students are familiar with technology and find some of the activities on the board similar to video games that they are accustom to playing. Students who are at the board have the opportunity to interact with concepts being taught and this interaction, can lead to classroom discussion. Students want to be apart of what they are learning and feel that their thoughts are valued, one way for this to happen is through open classroom discussion. When a student feels as if they have an opinion of what is being learned instead of just being handed the information from the teacher, they experience an increase in motivation in their learning process. ... Pay particular attention to safety and accessibility, the physical arrangement of the room, the classroom environment and appearance (Danielson 2e): There are seven groups (of tables) in the classroom. Each group has 4 chairs except the group in the middle: that one has six. There is a sufficient amount of space between the whiteboard and desks for the teacher to walk around. In the contextual factors chart I reported that the area of these students come from are not diverse at all and is predominantly white. My chart state that there are 85% white that attend this school. To teach my classroom about diversity I will use this knowledge to have some lessons about diversity. Since they are preschoolers it will not be as easy getting them to understand the context of the lesson, but I can teach majority of my subject area using diversity. For example I will read a book in their level called Bright, Eyes Brown Skin so will know there are people out there with different color skin, hair, eyes, and etc. This will also help our classroom community because teaching the students any races can be friends and we can come together as one is a big factor. b. For my chosen district factor from my contextual factor chart I am choosing to focus on the total enrollment. Since there is over 25,000 students enrolled in the district that makes the class sizes very large. A great method I will use for my class is centers. We can have center 3 times out the day, so the kids can meet with me either one on one or small groups at least three times a day. In center I will have an art center so the kids can practice their ABC'S, their name, and other art activities. I will have a dramatic play center so they can learn to be engage ... My Characteristics Of Being A Good Teacher Introduction 4 weeks, 6 classroom observations, 10 teaching practices, 2 conversation facilitations, 1 one v. one private teaching session, multiple homework assignments, and numerous lesson plans later – all totaling to 140+ hours of hard work – and here I am at the finish. This is experience was demanding and challenging to say the least, in a positive way. I learned so much and experienced the EFL teaching world first–hand. I played on my strengths as an educator and worked through my weakness to grow. I discovered teaching approaches that I could use to my advantage, as well as evolved my classroom control and rapport with students. What is a good teacher? It's easy to become a mediocre teacher. To be a good, even great, teacher is hard work and dedication. Maria Orlando gives 9 characteristics of a great teacher, here are just a few I agree with: a teacher who respects students, creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom, has his/her own love for learning and growing, continuously collaborates with other educators, and maintains professionalism in all areas. Adding onto this list with a few of my own characteristics I possess are: a teacher who is pleasant to be around, sensitive to the students needs/feelings, enthusiastic, hardworking, committed, driven, and organized. I figured the students would be able to solve multiplication problems easily and would need very little, if any help. I figured they would be able to follow instructions. That's exactly what happened for the third graders, but for the younger ones we had to switch to addition instead of multiplication. Overall, it was a very pleasant activity and it taught me a lot about how children today are learning when it comes to mathematics. Kids Count threw us a big curveball when they told us we wouldn't be getting only third graders because after all, our activity was designed for third graders. We decided to do addition for younger students instead. For one group, we had to implement that. For another group, we had all third graders and one second grader. She didn't know multiplication so I had to explain to her that multiplication is adding up numbers. For a problem like 11x5, we added 11x5 times to get 55. I wanted her to write out the answer and work it out herself with the whiteboard but I realized I couldn't do that– the third graders were getting antsy and were shouting out the answer when they knew they weren't supposed to because they were tired of waiting. I knew then I had to I had to write it out while she did the math either in her head or on her finger and make it easy for her. • 34. The Technological Developments Of The 21st Century The technological developments of the 21st century have led to the creation of a modern society within which technology is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Technologically speaking, interactive whiteboards connect a computer to a data projector and displays the image projected from the computer onto a large screen. Interactive Whiteboards(IWBs) have eight main features: drag and drop; hide and reveal; colour, shading and highlighting; multimedia visualisation; multimedia presentation; manipulation of objects from other technologies and software; movement of animation; and indefinite storage and quick retrieval of material. (De Vita, et al., 2014). It is these features that enable IWBs to be an effective contributor to learning and teaching in the classroom environment. The National Numeracy Strategy describe interaction as being a two way process in which pupils are expected to play an active part in and that teaching is oral, interactive and lively. (Wood & Ashfield, 2008) This is fundamental to Vygotskys' social constructivist view of teaching. Interactive whiteboard use in primary and secondary schools promotes pupil interest, more sustained concentration and more effective learning where teachers are aware of the ways in which such technology can be used to support a variety of learning styles. (Glover and Miller 2001–2003, as cited in (Miller, et al., 2005)) This is why the UK government has allocated over £50 million for the phenomenon that is Interactive ... • 36. Integrating Technology into Classrooms Technology is an ever changing feature in education. In order for technology to be effective there are many things that need to coordinate together. I will discuss some the major topics of integrating technology into classrooms. I will also have some insight into how schools have changed over the years and what I see now in the classroom. In my three years of teaching I have already seen many changes to the technology that we use. I think that traditional media could be defined a couple different ways, whether we talk about the very beginnings of technology to technology that was used five years ago, either could be considered traditional. Newspapers, radios, and television could be considered as the first medias that could connect students to people and happenings outside of the classroom. These connections are what I think stimulate students' minds. The internet came along in the early 90's and really revolutionized students' abilities to connect with people outside of the classroom. (Graber, 2012). I first remember getting Facebook towards the end of high school and that has sparked the age of social media. Now students can reach information, blogs, and social media from their phones! I think the role of traditional media has encouraged students' ability to learn from multiple mediums outside of the classroom. Not everything has been positive from technology, but because of it students have all the opportunities they could ask for to learn. According to Graber (2012), the ... An Effective Strategy For Increasing Student Learning The purpose of this research project was to determine whether or not using individual whiteboards in mathematics is an effective strategy for increasing student learning. A common theme in the subject of mathematics is the requirement of students using a pen and pencil to fill out a worksheet that encompasses a list of problems for them to solve. However, this practice becomes monotonous and boring for the students which ultimately negatively impacting their engagement. Nonetheless, individual whiteboards are still an effective formative assessment tool. Brookhart summarized formative assessment by mentioning two key elements. She expressed that it informs teaching practice and guides instructional decisions based on the information that formative assessment provides. Brookhart also mentioned that students can receive scaffolding as a result of formative assessment which ultimately improves their learning and academic achievement (2007, p. 43). It is important to note that formative assessment is not a one–time test. Rather, it is a sequence of checking for understanding that directs instruction to assist student's needs. The core purpose of formative assessment is to improve student learning, thus Clark (2010) suggests that "it is the conception of teaching as an art and the adaptation of teaching methods to meet needs in practical settings that is of fundamental importance when considering how to further student learning" (p. 342). Hence, to further student learning, formative assessment must be used and be used accurately. Clark (2010) lists several methods in her book, but one important element is feedback and how that aids in the meta–cognition process for students. She explained that learners have to be supported in their meta–cognition skills as they need to be challenged to think about their thinking (p. 342–344). • 40. Observation Of My Mentor Teacher's Math Lesson Plan On September 25th, 2017, I observed my mentor teacher's math lesson plan. Since math is scheduled from 12:00 to 1:05 in her classroom, this lesson was about 50 minutes to one hour long. Being a first grade classroom with around 24 students in it, the Common Core math standard for this lesson was 1.OA.B.4 – Understand subtraction as an unknown–addend problem. For example, subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8. Her learning object was Tell put together with result unknown, add to with result unknown, and add to with change unknown stories from equations. My mentor teacher did not have a student target for the lesson. However, I believe that a student–friendly objective would be a great way to enhance the curriculum. It would encourage communication between students and parents but most importantly, help the students focus their thinking. My practicum classroom is not as goal–oriented as I would prefer and I think an I can statement such as "I can use what I know about addition facts to help me answer subtraction fact problems" would fit nicely into this lesson plan. To begin, my mentor began with an activity called Ten and Tuck. Each student sat on the carpets in the front of the classroom as she explained the activity. Each student began by holding up 10 fingers and would tuck fingers away determined by what number my teacher said. Then, they would say the number sentence aloud every way possible. The Use Of Computer Technology In Computer Science INTRODUCTION The use of computer technology in computer science fields dates back to the 80s, but recent years have seen the two become almost completely dependent on one another. Many computer scientists rely on computer software in order to ensure accuracy in their projects. Similarly, many new software development projects keep computer applications in mind during their development. Young computer scientists looking to put themselves on the fast track to success would benefit greatly from learning computer technology and science applications relevant to their field. TECHNOLOGIES USED IN COMPUTER SCIENCE Virtual Learning Environment A virtual learning environment (VLE), also known as a learning platform, simulates a virtual classroom or meetings by simultaneously mixing several communication technologies. For example, web conferencing software such as GoToTraining, WebEx Training or Adobe Connect enables students and instructors to communicate with each other via webcam, microphone, and real–time chatting in a group setting. Participants can raise hands, answer polls or take tests. Students are able to whiteboard and screencast when given rights by the instructor, who sets permission levels for text notes, microphone rights and mouse control. Not about the material because I love the subject at hand but, I didn't really know the students in the way that I would've wanted to know them. I would've felt more comfortable if I had worked with them all in math before this less. I knew their mathematics levels because I have seen the worksheets that they have worked on in the previous classes. I knew what two of them struggled in before teaching this lesson. What I was nervous about was the fact that, I didn't know how they would act towards my teaching. I also was scared that my material would be too tough for my students. However, they have many flaws that the KiD–35 will approve upon. Traditional IWB's have need the child to get out of their seat in class to interact with the board, not every student gets the some amount of interaction with the board. (Deubel, 2010) Many teachers using the IWB's do not change the method in which they use the board. So if the assignments seem repetitive, students lose interest. In our target market, many traditional IWB's are too large for elementary school students to use. [See photo below.] Some children are just plain shy and do not want to come in front of the class to work in front of their classmates. (Interactive White Board, n.d.) Here is how the KiD–35 counteracts the flaws of the IWB's: The KiD–35 will be accessible by every child in the class; all of the students receive the same amount of interaction time with the desks. Teachers will have access to thousands of applications to always keep the learning environment fresh. The KiD–35's are specifically designed for our target demographic, which makes them much more usable than larger IWB's. • 54. Technology And Its Effects On Our Classroom Essay Technology In Classrooms When people walk into a classroom and a teacher is up front lecturing, all they see are heads down on desks. As they walk around people are sleeping and doodling things like "I love you", and writing their names 1000 different ways. The room makes someone feel like they are standing in a funeral home. It is boring and no one pays any attention, and anyone could notice that when there is dried drool on the desks for the next class. Not all classrooms are bland though. If someone would walk into a room with technology being used, such as computer interaction, powerpoint presentations, and upbeat music that teaches students a fun way to remember conjunctions, there is a lot less drool on the desks. There is much more interaction in that type of environment, because students are tired of being lectured for seven hours a day, five days a week and want a new and interesting learning technique. Schools need to have technology in all their classrooms, so students stay interested and involved. No one likes to take notes the same way everyday. It is not always possible due to the lack of money and time but as teachers we can always implement some ways to help achieve our goals. Technology is very important in the real world and we constantly need to seek for new ways to change how our learners learn to help them succeed during their school years. Let us look at some simple ways to integrate technology into our classroom and lessons. The first way we are looking at is the morning check in using an interactive whiteboard. "Morning check in" allows the teacher to know which learners are present and what their plans are for break time. Having the learners to raise their hands and check every one individual is time consuming and waste a lot of valuable time. Create a Notebook file and take a picture of every learner and post it in this file. Every morning the learners can drag their photo to show that they are present. This allows the learners to use the interactive whiteboard and give them a sense of responsibility. Using recording equipment is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As teachers we do not always have control of what can happen unexpectedly in the classroom or during a lesson. With the use of educational technology we need to be aware of what can go wrong at any stage. Let us look at some advantages and disadvantages of using technology in our lessons. One of the greatest advantages of technology is to prepare the learners for the future. It is without question that our learners need to know how to use technology as part of their school years and later in their careers. It is also a way to increase student engagement and motivation. Technology allows teachers and student to explore the internet and discover new parts of the word and obtaining useful information for their tasks. All the learners can be actively involved by using the computers and doing some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Course Evaluation For Cap 141c Course Evaluation for CAP 141C – Dr. Alvarez I will begin my course evaluation by stating that I am only anticipating on obtaining an A or high–B in this class due to the fact that I only learned the course material through self–teaching. I did not obtain any knowledge of the course material from Dr. Alvarez's lectures. This is largely due to the fact of her grotesque teaching style. In order to further explain how her teaching style impeded on my, and several others', education of the course material, I have provided several examples of what Dr. Alvarez has done during class. These examples below are in no particular order: Throughout the first few class periods of Dr. Alvarez teaching, she began to take note of complaints from class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, this eliminates any claim that the classroom is at fault for students not seeing what is displayed on the whiteboard. Students with poor eyesight moved up to the front of the classroom and still experienced a difficult time in attempting to decipher Dr. Alvarez's handwriting. Therefore, the only logical argument that could be presented as to why the students kept interrupting in order to ask what, exactly, is written on the whiteboard is due to Dr. Alvarez's atrocious handwriting. With this constant interruption, it was highly difficult for Dr. Alvarez to complete the lecture within the given timeframe of the class. I, personally, have quite poor handwriting. Therefore, if I was given the opportunity to instruct a class and I had the technology in the classroom to present some sort of PowerPoint, it would only make logical sense to use that technology to, not only my, but the students' advantage. The students would then be able to read what I am displaying while I am further explaining what is being displayed, as opposed to the students attempting to decipher my poor handwriting throughout the entirety of the class. This is just one example of Dr. Alvarez's several attempts at different teaching styles. She must have eventually given up on trying to change her teaching style as she eventually reverted to her original teaching style. The teaching style which Dr. Alvarez used for the majority of her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. Teacher Reflection Essay B. Morning routine was done with attendance, I assisted student to do it correctly as students are still learning how to do their different jobs in the classroom, as well as assisting with lunch count. Students pulled homework out and the teacher and I made sure they did it correctly and explained to students that may have graphed word count wrong or had questions. C. Every student had a copy of a book "We Camp". As a class, we read the book having the students point to the words as we read out loud together. I walked around the class making sure students were following along as they should. The teacher discussed text evidence and had student find examples throughout the story. D. I was able to teach phonics and blending to students on the whiteboard. I would write a letter on the whiteboard and have the class say its sound when I pointed to it, when we got to the vowel we would blend it together, then I would finish writing the word, then the class would say the word fast out loud. I would call on a student and ask if they knew the definition and expanding when needed. Teaching constant, vowel, constant (CVC) to the students explaining it is like an Oreo cookie or a sandwich. Circling the vowel and showing students how we mark short sounds over letters as well as long sounds and demonstrating with the words we had on the whiteboard. E. • 66. How Technology Changed Education Essays How Technology Has Changed Education Today's education differs much from the education fifty years ago. One of the reasons they are so different is because of technology. In the past fifty years the world of technology has grown tremendously, affecting everything, including education. A few things that have been brought into the world of education are computers, video and digital equipment such as DVDs, digital cameras and recording devices. The technology also includes information presentation technologies which includes the Smart Board, and different interactive whiteboards. With everyone loving the boards so much, students will jump at every chance to use the board. Interactive Whiteboards make kids want to learn. It makes them more willing to listen and focus on the lesson. Fifty years ago, classrooms didn't have this kind of technology. Classrooms only had black boards or white boards. (Bell ) In 1992, Intel Corporation became an investor in the idea of Smart Boards. At first, not many people thought of them as a good idea, but slowly people became more used to the idea. Since then, more than 100,000 Smart Boards have been produced and sold. Since they were first produced, there have been many advances in technology, thus creating more variations of the Smart Board. The earliest models were front projection boards, rear projection boards, in–wall rear projection boards, the SMART notebook, and other useful software. • 68. Using Resources in the Lifelong Learning Sector Essay The Oxford dictionary online defines the word resource as, "A stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively". If we apply this definition to teaching and learning resources, it can be argued that resources are central to the learning process and an absolute necessity for the teacher in planning and delivering effective sessions and the leaner in achieving their learning targets. The aim of this paper is to critically analyse the use of teaching and learning resources within my role as a Lecturer and Facilitator in the Lifelong Learning Sector and review the benefits and limitations of different resources in the delivery of inclusive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There may also be issues with large groups where students may be sat at an angle to the board. Teachers must be wary of falling into the trap of over reliance and over use of white and blackboards however. This can lead to monotony in sessions and a decrease in leaner motivation. When a teacher overuses the white/blackboard lessons will naturally take a dictatorial style as the boards are almost always situated beside the teacher's desk. A teacher should try to keep sessions and delivery methods as varied as possible to keep sessions interesting and the students engaged. Nevertheless, these instruments of learning still command a firm place in most educational setting. Despite their limitations, the magnitude of their benefits means that these visual boards are an invaluable tool for teachers. There are a plethora of resources available to teachers, even more so now as we fully embrace the age of technology, however, the relevancy and effectiveness of any teaching resource can and will differ from subject to subject. Even within the same subject, a resource that is effective for one learner may not be appropriate for another. With the onset of emergent technologies and the range of courses now available in the LLS, the traditional classroom board has taken a back foot in many learning areas. Indeed Armitage et al (2003: 117) refers to exiting times in teaching and learning with the advent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The students are ages six– through eight–years–old and are in a first grade classroom. They spend 90% of their time in the regular classroom, and the other 10% outside of the classroom receiving instruction from the ESOL teacher. All three of these students are female, two of which are Latino and the other of Arabic descent. Only one of the Latino girls was born outside of the United States, and the other two students were U.S. born. They attend Andrew Jackson Elementary School in South Philadelphia. The two Latino students have gone to Jackson from the time they were in Kindergarten, while the Arabic student entered Jackson this year after the school year had already begun. All three of these children are below grade level in all content areas, especially literacy. In terms of this lesson, math is the content area being addressed. The concepts of less than, greater than, and equal to will be taught. Prior to this lesson, the students have learned how to count and label their numbers 0 through 100. They have worked briefly with $#$#1$#$# lines and understand the cardinality of numbers. DESIRED RESULTS In this lesson, I am trying to accomplish teaching the students the key concepts of less than, greater than, and equal to. • 72. Benefits Of Art Club In School Does your school offer a variety of clubs, classes, and activities? Most schools do. Some clubs at my school are Nerd Herd, Theater club, French club, and art club. Some of the classes are drama, art, Spanish, French, and career investigation. Some activities are soccer, basketball, football, and school dances. One of these that students enjoy is art club. Students enjoy art club because it's fun, it's a stress reliever, and they get to hang out with friends. Students enjoy art club because it's fun. One way that art club is fun is that students get to do whatever they want, on certain projects. A way that students get to do whatever they want is that they may put flowers on their project and someone else may put robots on theirs. There are really cool projects to do, and if students like art than they'll love to do these projects! One of these projects is ice dyeing. Last year in art club we ice dyed T– shirts and pillowcases. Ice dying is like tie dying, in the way that they both diy the fabric, and students certainly don't diy anything in a regular art class. Another example is a chalk board. Last year in art club we made small chalk boards with whatever we wanted on them. None of the chalk boards were the same, they were all different. Some of them had flowers while others were stained. The last reason why art club is fun is that last year we had a party at the beginning and end of the year. At the meeting before each party each student signed up to bring in a type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Technology In Teaching Introduction It is no doubt that most people are afraid to change. However, they said "the only thing unchanged is change itself," which I find quite true. People need to adjust themselves and try to adopt new things, no matter they want or not. It is the same when talking about teaching English to speakers of other languages. Students are different nowadays. They are greatly exposed to new inventions and technologies. Therefore, if teachers stick to the traditional ways of teaching and do not change at all, soon or later they will be eliminated, if not completely, at least to a certain degree. Technology plays an important role in modern life. It has an impact on almost every field of life and it influences teaching as well with no doubt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion Technology or CALL (Computer–Assisted–Language–Learning) is meant to supplement face–to–face language instruction, but not to replace it. Therefore, I believe that teachers shouldn't get rid of traditional blackboard. In the future, I will try to combine using technology and blackboard properly and efficiently because it is sad to find that some students now are even lack of ability to calculate simple figures. This is because technology is abused by some teachers and students. When the society cares only about how to use calculators or computers, the importance of students' mental development will be jeopardized. Furthermore, technology will become a disadvantage for some students, who cannot afford computers at home. In this case, to be familiar with technology is just something difficult for them. Therefore, although technology does help with TESOL to a certain degree, teachers should take all students into consideration during the process of deciding what technology to adopt to help with their English ... The Importance Of Designing A Program Proposal When designing a program proposal, it is important to understand the specific resources that are required when going forward and implementing any type of program. For example, if the resources are too expensive and too challenging to obtain, the program will not succeed. For instance, within our private practice at Gastroenterology Associates, the educational program being carried out is impacted by the new quality reporting requirements called MIPS. The main goal of our program is to educate the physicians and the administrators in order to provide the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid with the most efficient quality data to receive the maximum amount of reimbursements. In order to perform efficiently, there are several resources that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During each week an important topic will be discussed such as quality measures, improvement activities, advancing care opportunities, the MIPS point system, grades of reimbursement, etc. The next step is to incorporate the minor resources to help the program run more efficiently. These resources include a conference room where the meetings will take place and a projector with a screen that includes the correct cables in order to connect the computer too. The projector will display informative PowerPoints, videos, and other factual pieces to teach the other members. Consequently, before the information can be presented during the weekly meetings, the President will have to review all the data and give his official approval. Fortunately, these tools are already in our possession so there will be no additional cost or time needed. The next resource is to purchase a large whiteboard with dry erase markers in order to draw graphs, diagrams, etc. to help the visual learners understand the full concept. The whiteboard would be an additional cost for our organization ranging close to $600 and it will take a few days to be delivered. The whiteboard will be on wheels, making it portable and will not require a cost to be hung up on a wall. Other resources include MIPS printouts and worksheets to help the individuals fully comprehend the topic, which will cost our organization a few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The "direct experience" provided by that program was memorable for all participants. Did it help students collect information and form opinions? Yes! Students had no trouble expressing themselves following the program. 5 Interactive whiteboards produce very similar motivation. According to research conducted by Bell (1998), "Answers to open–ended questions indicated that students were more involved, attentive, and motivated when lessons were offered using the board rather than using other teaching methods." Furthermore, Jamerson (2002) suggests that special needs students and students with different learning styles were positively affected by the use of the interactive whiteboard in the classroom. Every student wanted to write his/her responses on the interactive whiteboard. Observations of Rod Smith and Shane Penrose supported the use of multi–media to improve attention and achievement. They and their students used a shared LCD projector for PowerPoint presentations, internet resources, video streaming, and to play review games. Both teachers reported that student motivation to participate in class greatly increased when technology was integrated into instruction.
