Treatment:
The genre of the magazineI chose was the rap/hip-hop as it is something I and
people my age take a great interest in. My magazinewill be targeted at the age
group of 16-22, I chosethis demographic as they are the age rangewho is most
likely to be interested in this particular type of music and magazine. The
magazine will feature articles on popular music, artist and somefashion as
fashion and clothing is popular within the rap culture and community this is
seen frommy research on other magazines as mostof them include fashion as
well as music although the magazineis obviously mostly about music as it is a
music magazine. The magazine will also be informal to a certain extent as it will
have to target my age group and they are more likely to relate and like the
magazine if it is more informal as it they could relate to this and feel more safe
and relaxed while reading my magazineas well as this I will need to make sure
that it is not too childish and simple as it still needs to be professionalto
compete with other magazines in my market. Itwill also offer incentives like
posters or CD’s for free as it would encouragethe target market to buy the
magazine. The main focus of my magazine will be new and upcoming artists as
well the best music and artists at the time, this will offer a continuous and
professionallook for the magazinewhich I believe will encouragethe audience
to buy my magazine weekly. As rap is already a well-established genre within
the magazinecommunity people would be more likely to buy it as it is new and
would like to try something new if it kind of similar and familiar to them, this
could also increase the rap genre fan base.
